Thanks ladies I remember you both too being around the same as me! Glad you are both well too 😃 how are your symptoms? I’m constantly exhausted, feel nauseous but not being sick and I’ve gone off most food except carbs!!! X

HchyScott · 07/01/2019 18:58

@Giraffe888 welcome back! Glad to hear that you’ve had two great scans and you’re back with us 😁

Notanotherpawpatrol · 07/01/2019 19:11

So glad you've had some good scans giraffes. No one mentions the early pregnancy anxiety, constant googling, worrying something is wrong and obsessive thoughts do they :( it's a pregnancy symptom and really sucks. It always subsides for me around the time I can feel baby move regularly, but then the count the kicks anxiety kicks in 😒 and before long there's the "am I in labour" anxiety 🙄
Pregnancy. All the fun times.

TwinkleDay · 07/01/2019 19:12

Welcome back giraffe.

I told my work today so me and Fred are public news with colleagues, was first day back this year too so that was nice.

Got my 16 week mw appointment Wednesday morning... anyone know what that will consist of... so far I've got pee in a pot 😂👍🏼

AIDE2424 · 07/01/2019 19:15

I thought sickness was supposed to ease off as you approached second trimester, I’ve been so poorly since Friday 😩 can’t keep a thing down! Had to phone in sick for work today and probably tomorrow. Not been sleeping either due to getting up to be sick. Work have been funny with me been off and funny generally since I announced my pregnancy. Sorry for the moan!

Hope your all well ❤️

ReginaPhalange89 · 07/01/2019 19:19

I've actually not had a bad start to this pregnancy, I'm surprised to say ! My last 2 pregnancies I was SO ill, literally threw up everything I ate from 6 weeks til about 16 weeks . This time round all I've really had is constant hunger - I could literally eat all day , and it's all carbs I want too 🙈
Other than that, I've only had a handful of days where I've felt sick. Had a few headaches. And my nipples hurt but I only notice that if I touch them lol.

Notanotherpawpatrol · 07/01/2019 19:23

Twinkle 16 weeks is pee in a pot, blood pressure, most likely they will listen in with a doppler. I doubt they will measure bump, but some areas do it from 16 weeks. You'll get to ask any questions you have (my advice is to write them down as you think of them and take them with you, as unfortunately your appointment is only 10 mins, so it's easy to forget to ask things) that's pretty much it :)

Giraffe888 · 07/01/2019 19:27

@notanotherpawpatrol isn’t it just! It’s just one constant worry. I have worried less since the 8wk scan but now the 12wk one is approaching I’m worrying again

@twinkleday it’s hard with work isn’t it? Mine haven’t been great with me. I’m not my usual self at work due to being so tired and feeling sick but I’m doing my best

@reginaphalange89 my boobs have been tender since the beginning but I had a few days of excruciating pain two days last week! I’m feeling bad that I’m not eating healthier but I can’t face fruit and veg. I hope this changes in the second trimester. I’ve not put weight on though, I’ve lost 7lbs since getting pregnant but I’ve got a right bump!!!! I’m only really petite and slim so it’s obvious!

TwinkleDay · 07/01/2019 19:31

I have also booked in for NCT classes on Tuesday nights starting 23rd April for 6 weeks for me and OH since our convo and people at work recommended them.

And tickets to nec baby show in Birmingham in May x

mrsof20118 · 07/01/2019 19:38

@Giraffe888 I think I've been quite lucky too. Nausea until about 8 weeks and still exhausted. I had a few days of nausea and headaches the weekend just gone but generally ok. Switched to maternity bras already as my boobs were so sore last week.

Michelle0507 · 07/01/2019 19:43

I don't know if this will help anyone & may differ in different areas but my MW gave me this at my booking in appt it's like my bible with being a first time Mum. :) x

StargazyDrifter · 07/01/2019 20:10

Really lovely news Kentishgal, and must be cheering given the rollercoaster you've had over the last few weeks.

Michelle that's really helpful, thank you for posting! I've no idea about these things either.

AIDE2424 and blueeyedviking I hope both your workplaces get their act together. They should be nice and, as other posters have said, should even think about treating anyone differently.

Had a private scan today as part of NIPT testing and the baby has really grown in the 10 days since my 12 week scan. It was amazing to see. Very cute and stil has big feet. Results back in a couple of weeks. Still no word from NHS, but they said they'd ring same day if there was a high risk so hoping that means everything is ok.

I need to get my act together about some yoga, but I am so so tired stil and still throwing up at 14+1 so even dragging my feet on that. Baby Show also booked here. Huge thanks to whoever mentioned it!

mrsof20118 · 07/01/2019 20:17

@Michelle0507 that's very handy. Are we meant to take a urine sample to the 12 week scan?

MrsNai · 07/01/2019 20:18

Hello, joining this thread after sharing our news with family and friends.

I am due our second child 11/7/2019.

Mind you I had Obstetric Cholestasis/ICP in my first pregnancy so had to be induced early and it seems likely that this may happen again, in which case baby will arrive in June!

Xx

Michelle0507 · 07/01/2019 21:01

@Mrsof20118 yes you need to take a sample to your 12w scan, they do the usual dip test. I assume you'd be able to do the sample after the scan if you haven't taken one. They gave me a pot for next time too which I hadn't realised I'd need to do. So much peeing in a pot!

I have to say the sheet has been so helpful.

TheScaredyKat · 07/01/2019 21:34

@mrsof20118 I didn't have to provide urine sample at 12w scan, different trusts have different requirements I think.
I'm sure if you do need one it should tell you on the letter you received for scan appointment.

cravingmilkshake · 07/01/2019 21:40

Hi girls,

First day at new job today after finishing old job on 21st December!

I told my new line manager when they called to offer me the job that I was 5 weeks pregnant (now 12 on Wednesday) and they seemed pleased for me.... it's a role in HR so I know I'm pretty protected.

Anyway, I am exhausted today after training and reading! Can not wait for bed tonight.

My local gym (places for people) have just started offering pre natal classes which include pelvic floor exercise etc- I am booked in for tomorrow evening so hoping to get some benefit!

Hope you are all well? Xx

StargazyDrifter · 07/01/2019 21:42

I didn't have to do a urine sample at the 12 scan either, only at the booking appt. 12 week scan was only a blood test. Different trusts definitely do different things, utterly confusing!

HchyScott · 07/01/2019 22:14

I didn’t do a urine sample for 12 weeks scan either. Does anyone know if I’ll have a blood test at 16 week appointment?

whogivesaratzass · 07/01/2019 22:42

Evening all!
Been asleep since 8 pm and looks like that is all I am getting tonight 😞.
Lying here playing with baby name apps and they are all terrible so far.
What apps would you recommend or am I away in front of myself?? x

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 08/01/2019 10:30

@cravingmilkshake I started a new job yesterday after being made redundant last year. I haven't told my new job im pregnant. Really nervous. Don't know how or when to tell them.

GiGi18 · 08/01/2019 10:39

Not long back from 12 week scan. Baby wasn't playing ball, was sleeping! Had to jump up and down, go to the toilet etc and they eventually turned the right way but just went back to sleep. So the sonographer couldn't get the measurements he needed. He dated me at 12+5 roughly but need to go back a week today for another go. He advised coffee and cake before I go to give a little caffeine boost!

Will be lovely to see baby again but I can't help but worry. Has this happened to anyone else? Hoping it won't be too late to get all the measurements they need for downs etc. What's the time limit for these?

TwinkleDay · 08/01/2019 10:58

@GiGi18 I had to go back again for 12 week scan which then was on Xmas eve.. because baby wouldn't stay still so couldn't take back of the neck measurements as long as you saw heart beat first time I was told it's really normal :)

TwinkleDay · 08/01/2019 10:59

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts my friend started a new job was there 5 weeks was really sick told them after 5 weeks and got sacked as still in probabtion period...be honest early on

Good luck
