I have just had the most bizarre day. A friend - who I turned down years ago when he asked me out - called me to tell me he was still crazy about me and, even given my current situation, did I feel the same? I told him no, but seriously who tells a heavily pregnant woman that kind of thing? I might be single but the only person i’m bothered about right now is my baby and I certainly wouldn’t want to waste any of the first few months of his life dating someone.
Is it just me who thinks my friend was out of line to spring this on me? I was shocked at the time but as the afternoon has gone by i’ve gotten a little annoyed to be honest.

twiglet · 15/12/2018 19:51

Thanks 🙂 I'm going to get some more fruits tomorrow and see how it goes.

@Surprisedmom thats very bizarre maybe he thought it's the 1950s in which women should be married therefore he was offering a great deal! Hmm I would be knarked with that too!

Surprisedmom · 15/12/2018 20:23

@twiglet thanks, I couldn’t quite put my annoyance down to pregnancy hormones.

Lulabell1 · 15/12/2018 22:34

@sickmumma my midwife is my client she said there is no way they are sending me home she wont let them iv had 1 baby and my labour was 49 minutes😂

sickmumma · 15/12/2018 22:46

@Lulabell1 omg that's crazy I thought mine were quick! Did you have any warning signs first?

powkin · 15/12/2018 23:22

@Alicejj8x I’m wretching a lot but seems to be due to nasal congestion rather than proper 1st trimester morning sickness.

Think I have sciatica, but to me it feels like shooting pains/spasms up my spine from the bottom rather down my legs.... so maybe it is something else?

Lulabell1 · 15/12/2018 23:24

@sickmumma my waters broke at 6am i had no pain but went straight to hosp because i was 36 weeks i got there 6.15 and i was 4cm then my pain started from the time it took me to get from 1 room to the delivery room I dialated too 8cm! My body was pushing and they checked me again i was 10cm she was born at 6.51😂

twiglet · 16/12/2018 04:47

Blush I think pregnancy snoring has kicked in.... Woke up to find DH not there he's in the spare room.
Ironic really as he's a really bad and loud snorer I found ways to quieten him down so I could sleep! Hmm

I'm guessing there isn't anything I can do to reduce the snoring? Apparently its not loud just high pitched.....

Yakadee · 16/12/2018 06:27

@Lulabell1 - holy crap that's fast! I'm with you guys - do not leave lol. I was induced so unfortunately was 20+ hours for me.

Well, my son hasn't been sick since 1pm yesterday and slept 7pm - 6am and I didn't hear a peep! He's now tucking into some toast so think we're in the clear! 🎉🎉🎉

Question is, how quickly does it spread? I felt fine in the night and fine now, but when am I in the 'safe zone'???

33 weeks today - baby is the size of a ferret lol. Xx

emalady · 16/12/2018 09:32

So that was a rubbish night. I've been quite stressed but ended up with anxiety every time I tried to lie down and sleep so convinced DH to go for a walk at 3am and finally fell asleep at 5-7.30 feeling so awful now. Going to try and get some more sleep without having another panic.

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/12/2018 09:41

Yakadee glad to hear your son is better. My son had some kind of sickness bug last Friday night (last week now) and was sick in the night a few times, around 10-11pm Sad he was fine by the morning although I was careful with what I gave him to eat and avoided milk, and then by Sunday he was 100%. They bounce back so quickly!

I think the "safe" zone is 48 hours, so if you're not ill 48 hours he was first sick, chances are you're in the clear. I think it's more likely less time though as he'd be more contagious before he was actually sick. Fingers crossed you'll dodge it. Both DH and I dodged my DS' bug, which makes it all the more annoying that I was throwing up a week later because of my stupid Christmas meal Angry!

sickmumma · 16/12/2018 10:40

@Yakadee glad he is feeling better! I always found like the others a couple of days since sickness started - with mine once one felt better then the other one was sick! Was horrible and meant I had to have quite a bit of time off work!

My daughter has woken up this morning with conjunctivitis! Poor little sausage! Not so weepy but her eyes look all puffy and red! We went to MIL yesterday and DH aunty was there and said one of their grandchildren had it! Could it have spread that quickly? Luckily DH off tomorrow so can watch her and Tuesday MIL said she will have her and I finish work Tuesday morning for Christmas so I won't need to miss anymore time! I already am
Having the first week back off as DS is diabetic and being moved onto a pump so will have him at home with me! Luckily my maternity cover starts in the new year! Crazy to think really because of that I have only a couple of weeks after that and then I finish for maternity! Need to have a big sort out of the house and perhaps do a bit of painting! Plus DD birthday so can sort that out!

@Lulabell1 omg! Haha! So at the smallest twinge I bet you will be straight to the hospital! See once my waters went it was a few hours until contractions started (normally once I had a bath!) I am in two minds about a Home birth! But think it will be hospital for me!

AliceRR · 16/12/2018 10:50

@Lookingforadvice123 I’m sure you’re fine but I understand your worry as I do the same

I was slightly worried about eating some frozen mince beef last night. I’m sure it would have been in date when I put it in the freezer and I cooked it properly but it tasted a bit meaty (think cause it was still a bit frozen when I cooked it) and wasn’t pink any more but DH said that’s just the blood running out. Anyway I ate it and I’m assuming I haven’t poisoned myself as no signs 🤞 Only certain types of food poisoning could harm baby anyway I believe

@Alicejj8x I’ve been feeling sick the last few weeks. Not as bad as first trimester but it’s a similar feeling I’ve had for short periods most days

Yakadee · 16/12/2018 13:26

Thanks everyone - he's defo so much better - back to normal really although staying in today just so he can recover (he's been running around like a crazy thing already ha!)

@Lookingforadvice123 - it's been about 32 hours or so since he was first sick so 🤞 That's frustrating though when you've missed it!!

@sickmumma - conjunctivitis is awful! I actually had it as an adult about 10 years ago and it was really sore! It does spread like wildfire!
Feels like it's all go here too. We (thought) had sorted my sons room out but have decided to have a switch about so back to square one! X

Notquiteagandt · 16/12/2018 15:59

So I was all done with clothes for my little girl. And then today got given 4x huge bin bags full of clothes for upto 3months. Most of it unworn!!

Including stuff id eyed up in next and m&s few weeks ago that had sold out in smaller sizes. Brand new with labels on.

Really seeing that babies really do bring out the best in people.

Only problem is now shes going to have to change outfits about 10x a day to get wear out of them and a fresh pair pjs each nap 😂

Sorry to hear about all these poorly little ones hope its an easier day today for all involved and they are feeling better Flowers

Since2016 · 16/12/2018 16:01

People love buying clothes for teeny babies. We started to run low around 12 months.... inconvenient as newborns rarely need changes of clothes unless they’re sick!! People are so generous though - how lovely!

Lulabell1 · 16/12/2018 16:32

@sickmumma Yes no waiting around for me im a bit worried as my phone doesnt work and hasent since August when im at home im on 02 and i contacted them but they said theres a mask down in surrey so epsom is just like it at the moment! Not too mention my other half works mainly nights as he is security god forbid i go into labour at home on my own with DD and cant ring anyone!! The plus is that i live opposite hospital its a 2min drive but a good 15/20min walk

Notquiteagandt · 16/12/2018 16:48

@Lulabell1 Do you know your neighbors at all? Could you foreworn them. And say if the worse happens get your DD to run next door for them? The chances of it actually happening are so slim. But sure you would feel better if you had a plan.

Or failing that what line do you use for your wifi. Do you have a landline number. Might it be worth just buying a cheap landline to plug in just incase. Or a payg sim on a diff network in an old phone.

sickmumma · 16/12/2018 17:03

@Lulabell1 that's awful! Do you have iPhones? You could FaceTime him on the WiFi? Are you having baby at Epsom? You are so near to me! We used to live in West Ewell before moving to Surbiton! Have actually considered moving back there for when eldest starts secondary in a few years!

So glad he is okay @Yakadee and sounds like you've all escaped it!

DD seems okay her eyes still look a little red and puffy but there's been no discharge.
DH had to force eye drops in earlier but it's made a big difference!

Lulabell1 · 16/12/2018 18:33

@notquiteagandt well we actually dont get on with our neighbors little bit of a argument few months ago over a stupid gate they are really rude and ignorant and the other side we dont talk to hes a bit wierd lives on his own never leaves the house! No landline we have wifi but my partner has samsung so i am going to buy a rubbish pay as you go and just ring the security office if need be!

@sickmumma yes epsom hospital we live between epsom hospital and ashtead village have done for 2 years and previously we lived on Ewell bypass near the roundabout just past eightbells pub?

Since2016 · 16/12/2018 20:35

Anyone else got this horrible bug? I have a chesty productive cough, feel achy all over and am FREEZING. House is 19 degrees, I’m wearing leggings, slippers, top and jumper and DHs dressing gown. Feel hideous. Shivering. Took some paracetamol earlier which I’ve been trying to avoid but I feel rubbish again 😞 coughing hurts bump and chest too.

sickmumma · 16/12/2018 21:21

Yes I think I know the eight bells pub is that the one on the road that leads into ewell village? We lived by west ewell station so used to walk into Bourne hall and ewell village all the time when my eldest was a baby! I must admit I do miss having that on our doorstep! Surbiton is nice but def not as green although they have recently redone the park by us and it's really lovely now especially for little ones so will be putting that to good use in another year or so! Will be very strange starting all over again!!

Ashtead is also lovely! We go there sometimes as DH has marine fish and there is a shop that's sells them! We also love ashtead park in the summer! I don't know epsom hospital area very well as the high street used to be as far as we would go! We go m25 roundabouts way to go into ashtead as quicker for us!

@Since2016 That sounds awful! You poor thing! Hope you Manage to get some rest and feel a bit better in the morning! I must admit apart from an initial cold September time touch wood I haven't had anything (I wonder if the flu jab stops the minor ones too as normally I seem to constantly have a cold and sore throat!) I am however suffering horribly with heartburn/
Reflux whenever I eat and in between it's horrible!! Been chewing Rennies and sleeping sitting up almost! Can't try the vanilla ice cream as suggested in a previous post as anything with milk make me sick still! 😩

Does anyone else's bump get huge by the evening? Mine starts off normal but come
Evening it's big and hard and round and very uncomfortable! I've just come upto bed to try and just sleep it all off! Movements have changed a bit now too I am sure I can feel some Tiny little feet! So strange!

Two more mornings at work and I am finished for Xmas I really can't wait! 😁

Bramble88 · 16/12/2018 21:37

Hi ladies!!
I am new here, so forgive me if i dont understand everything!! Im pregnant with my first baby feb 28th!
Anyone else due that date?
Im so excited/nervous/scared!!
Any tips for labour?

Surprisedmom · 16/12/2018 22:58

@Bramble88 welcome! I’m a first timer so don’t have any tips based on experience, but i’d definitely advise doing some form of antenatal course - nhs, NCT or online - to give you some knowledge/reassurance/ideas about what you want for birth.

hayley013 · 16/12/2018 23:48

@sickmumma yes! My bump gets far bigger by the evening, DD actually did a double take when I took off my jacket earlier, she said mammy how has baby got so big today 😂 think she's just not been taking much notice then got a shock at how big I am now. So uncomfortable though, I have to lie down to relieve the squashed feeling under my boobs/top of bump.

I've just finished and submitted my last assignment before Christmas, it's had me so anxious the relief is just amazing right now. Finally feel like I can finish last Christmas bits this week and relax a little
