Hope no-one else has started a new thread, I couldn't find it if so.

Just wanted to send hugs of support to Holly. I hope it all goes well.

Will check in tomorrow if I can to update.

Good luck!

i have a hospital appointment on weds for a scan to check all is okay - i asked about sweeps etc but the midwife was just 'let's talk about that when it comes to it'...

just said to go home for lots of nookie and that's not worked!

I keep telling myself am only 41 +1, so it's not sooo bad ... yet

derlor · 01/07/2007 20:44

Don't worry ladies i'm Foxys text buddy and my phone is all quiet, so far
the full moon at the start of the month never produced any babies either by the way, supersticious mumbo jumbo it would seem!!

derlor · 01/07/2007 20:45

Reflexoloxy never worked for me - more mumbo jumbo!!!!!!

toomanypies · 01/07/2007 20:48

i suppose i could try it - if only for a nice foot massage

derlor · 01/07/2007 21:20

it's certainly relaxing so nothing to loose

justbeme · 02/07/2007 08:58

Another uneventful night here!

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 09:22

Congrats dkma! Lovely name and I bet he was well worth the wait! Well done xxx

daisyboo · 02/07/2007 09:40

Do I smell children?......

Oh well, maybe not!

Take it easy JBM.....you don't want to be going into labour in the middle of A and B!

As it says in "What to Expect when you're expecting".....you don't want to be driving yourself to hospital in labour.....the contractions will upset your concentration (bit of an understatement there I think )

annobal · 02/07/2007 09:43

Congratulations DKMA - lovely name (Charles and Edward are 2 of our favourites as well).

Hope everyone is well. I've also been having a bit of a computer break, no births here though but still lots of twinges. Am off to the gym this morning to see if I can get anything moving.

There's not many of us left at all now - I'm mighty surprised to be here still but feeling strangely calm about it (could be something to do with the amount of rescue remedy I am taking ).

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 09:49

You are very good going to the gym annobal! I could barely walk! Still can't actually!

daisyboo · 02/07/2007 09:50

The gym....are you mad! Well done though for having the energy.

birthy vibes wafting this way for eveyone!

annobal · 02/07/2007 12:05

Just doing what I can to encourage this LO out

toomanypies · 02/07/2007 15:10

hello again, still here... lots of twinges, but just the dull crampy sort...

am tempted to alter my answering machine message to something scathing to deter my MIL - still ringing up far more often than I would like, and if I screen her calls (ie ignore them) she calls up my mobile saying 'oh you're not at home! you must therefore be at the hospital why didn't you call and tell me!!?' aaarrgggghhhh!

oh well, she's improving, last time around she gave us a list of names she'd 'approved'.

oooh, i'm soo bored of this waiting i've taken to ranting about the MIL... time to go out for a big, long, labour inducing walk!

think happy labour vibes....

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 16:57

justbeme · 02/07/2007 18:53

Hi - so there was a baby born at the end of June - there was abit of a lull at the end of the month wasnt there??

I am so techno phobic - can you explain in simple terms how I do a link to another thread - for example if I just so happened to go into labour (cant see that happening for a while!! ) how do I do the link, like Daisy did for the recent births??

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 19:21

hi jbm...the instructions are at the bottom beside the emoticons.

basically thewebsiteaddress description
but no space after or before the double square brackets

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 20:46

Foxy....I know you're lurking....

How are you today?

You can run, but you cannot hide

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 20:49

Haha! I saw foxy lurking too! I was just waiting here for her to post!

FOXY!!! ARE YOU THERE???

TALLULAHBELLE · 02/07/2007 21:26

Hi - how's everyone? Urgent advice needed here re B/F. Is it Claire who is a B/F adviser? My milk seems to be drying up. My wee one has lost weight at every weigh-in and yesterday the m/w advised me to top up with formula. Had been trying to top up with EBM but an hour's pumping gets me barely an ounce which is guzzled in seconds & just not doing the job. Gave her some formula & she then slept for hours, couldn't wake her for next feed & when did eventually get her on the boob she was very half-hearted and barely fed at all. Today she has tried to feed from me but I just don't seem to have anything to give her. She is only 16 days old and I really don't want to stop B/F - is there anything I can do to boost my supply or do I just have to accept that B/F is over for us? Have been feeling so upset and disappointed in myself. Just don't know where I have gone wrong.

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 21:35

Have you seen a bfing counsellor tallulah? I wouldn't top up with formula until you have seen one as it will effect your supply. Phone your mw first thing and ask to see one or phone the La Leche League helpline. I'm sure there is something you can do.

TALLULAHBELLE · 02/07/2007 21:42

M/W did try ro arrange B/F support but it was Sun & she couldn't get anyone. Will try & call tomorrow & see if can arrange something. The m/w actually ran DH to chemist to buy formula & dropped him back home so felt it was pretty urgent to get some calories into her asap. So have already started to top up each b/f with couple ounces formula. She's just not getting enough from me.

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/07/2007 21:43

Tallulah....not sure what to suggest hun, but from what I've read on here, women who top up with formula end up giving up bf sooner rather than later as I understand it affects your supply. I would suggest starting a BFR thread, asking for Tiktok....she seems to be very knowledgeable about the subject.

Claire is a BF counsellor but she hasn't been about today. All I can suggest is feed her often. The amount you express bears no relation to what you are producing AFAIK. I was rubbish at expressing with DS and so far have only been able to express 3oz, even though I know my supply is really good.

You need to enlist the help of the ladies at Queen Margaret's in Glasgow (?)....from reading some of the BF threads on here (weeonion had problems at the start) they have some very lovely, helpful BF counsellors. Talk to weeonion as well, I can't remember what her specific problem was!

Whatever happens though, don't feel too down about it. You've given her the very best start in life whether you continue to BF or not. I hope it works out for you

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 21:46

I love bfing counsellors, all the ones I have met are wonderful, supportive ladies and will spend all day with you if they need to. My hospital has a clinic every day and you just turn up and they will help you. Does yours have something similar?

hollyandalice · 02/07/2007 21:49

Oh and have you checked for tongue tie? My ds had one and it was missed by the mw and paed. That can effect feeding and is easily rectified.
