Hope no-one else has started a new thread, I couldn't find it if so.

Just wanted to send hugs of support to Holly. I hope it all goes well.

Will check in tomorrow if I can to update.

Good luck!

Sounds promising - I'm just off to see the mw now.

toomanypies · 28/06/2007 16:05

hey there everyone - I'm new here, hope you don't mind me butting in!?!
Am 40 +5 weeks now and going slightly mad, have discovered Mumsnet only recently, I know post-due-date is a little late to be getting into it... oh well, maybe you can help keep me sane?

This is my second, DD was born at 40+4... I kept being told the second one would be earlier, bah!
Am convinced this must be a boy (the men in this family are always late)
so - the head's been engaged for about a fortnight, the BH are going crazy - can someone please tell me when this is going to happen?!?

toomanypies · 28/06/2007 16:18

Foxybrown - when are/were you due?
My midwife was not interested in trying a sweep, and just told me to go home and have sex!! ha - cos i'm feelin' really in the mood right now....

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 16:46

Hello TooManyPies (love your name BTW). Always welcome, we need a few more on AN - its never been so quiet on here! I'm due tomorrow, so is JustBeMe. Diplodicus on 30th, and Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow is about 40+6 I think. So there's a few of us left (there is a stats thread somewhere, if I can find it I'll add you on).

I was pretty surprised when she said she'd do a sweep if I wanted one - I was in too minds - mainly because I'm pooing my pants, but I guess its all a bit late now and she needs to come out!

My two boys were on time, DD was 10 days late, so who knows for DD2!! But I'm not going down the sex route, to DPs delight!

Diplidophus · 28/06/2007 16:47

Hi there twomanypies - good to have you here. There's only a few of us left ont his thread now. I've only jsut started posting on here (it was too hard to keep up before whilst I was still at work).

I have just had my sweep - 2 cm dilated. It was somthing but I was hoping for more!

She also recommended plenty of sex and staying active. I'm in the mood - DP isn't though! I shal persuade him that it is his duty (hard life).

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 16:50

Wonder how I can tempt DP into it. Sexy underwear? Stockings and suspenders? Striptease? Oh I'm soooo funny!

At least you're 2 cms! I was convinced I would be at least 5 after the false alarms this week. Turns out that its closed - for the first time in 6 years!!! But soft and stretchy, and she could feel baby's head.

Perhaps if I wasn't such a wimp it might have been more successful!

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 16:55

Hi foxy.....still here? Don't dismiss the apparent failure of the sweep...look at Holly !

Hi toomanypies (great name ). I'm from the dark side...well post-natal, with a 3wks+2day old DD. Evev if you don't get a lot of mileage out of AN, we're all chatting on the post-natal thread, so look forward to seeing you there. Hope you've had a good pg so far!

Went clothes shopping today . I'm annoyingly between sizes so have a week to drop about 1/2 a stone so I can button up the cream linen trousers I bought. Got a lovely blouse though....long line so it covers my deeply depressing arse, and scrunchy material which kind of disguises the lumps and bumps! I'll need to undress to feed DD in it, but hey ho, it's one day and we're staying in the hotel where the reception is, so i can just pop up to our room when i need to feed her!

toomanypies · 28/06/2007 17:09

oh no - i just wrote a long reply and my connection crashed out (or something)

ha - luckily DH find pg 'sexy' (well someone has to) so no trouble on that front... oh no, i've made him sound like some kind of perv....

BTW - toomanypies because no one seemed to notice that I was pg until about 6 weeks ago - so what did they think all the extra poundage was due to, eh? [hmmn]
I still get "oh, you're due on the 23rd... of July, right??"
dunno why, I was massive with DD.

speaking of whom, I have to collect her from nursery - nice to meet you all

annobal · 28/06/2007 17:32

JBM - you had a shitty night's sleep. Waking up at 4 is just horrible, especially when there's no reason!

For once, I had a great night's sleep - all the way to 6.15 when I got woken up by 'I need a wee wee'...

So, I thought I would drop DS1 at nursery then spend the day in the park - had a lovely day but am now knackered (DS2 even kindly fell asleep so I could have a yummy lunch all to myself

Am now off to catch up on the rest of the day...

hollyandalice · 28/06/2007 17:37

Afternoon!

Think positive foxy! I was 1cm and posterior when I had my sweep last weds and was told there would be no action for at least 48 hours. Well it obv seemed to have some effect, so it might for you too.

Welcome toomanypies, love the name! I am not supposed to be here as I have my baby, but I miss everyone too much!

Right, I'm off to the dark side of the PN thread!

annobal · 28/06/2007 19:14

Helloooo. Where is everyone?

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 19:19

I'm here. Angry that there are no baked beans in the cupboard!! How can a mother of 3 not have baked beans? Hmm? I never have tissues in my bag either... am one of those!

annobal · 28/06/2007 19:27

LOL Foxy. I thought you were having a baby

I also have run out of baked beans - and always have to borrow wipes from someone (and as for tissues...).

Am considering cheese and crackers for dinner - would that be an irresponsible parent, or do I have to wait until the baby is born for that guilt??

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 19:30

oh no, I love cheese and crackers! yum. with picked onions or branston pickle (probably an english thing!)

hmm, am going to have some now. DP coming home early with beans.

Been up since blardy 5am, am so ready for bed.

Annobal, are you shitting yourself? Cos I am.

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 19:34

toomanypies here is the stats thread, if you want to add yourself. Holly and Daisy do a fine job updating the stats too. stats

Diplidophus · 28/06/2007 19:36

Right - that's DS1 in bed. First time in a week that I haven't had to stay with him until he went off. He keeps going on about bats in his bedroom. No idea where he got that from.

DP just called to say that he won't be home til 8. I wanted him to cook as I am shattered. I can't remember when I last had more thatn about 5 hours. I wake approx every hour for a pee and then can't get back to sleep. I an't bloody turn over without wrenching the sides of my bump. I have, officially, had enough!

I have now prepared dinner so at least that's done! I think I only did it as the mw suggested keeping on my feet!

I have plenty of baked beans - feel free to pop over!

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 19:38

Thanks Dip! Am having some cheese and pickle on crackers! yum!

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 19:40

How olds DS1? Are you on the stats thread? Just had a look for you and can't find you!

Diplidophus · 28/06/2007 19:48

DS1 is 2.5.

I have added myself to the stats thread.

4 children - I'm impressed! How on earth do you manage?

Had I started a little earlier I would love to have loads, I have enjoyed DS1 so much. I still would like three but DP isn't keen. We have agreed that we both keep our minds open until the time is right to make a decision.

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 19:59

hello.....i woukd like another one, quite close to DD, but DH is going to see about the snip tomorrow . He's got a routine doc appt and said he'd ask. I'm trying to convince him that there's no rush!

Diplidophus · 28/06/2007 20:02

Definitely not somethign to be rushed into if you want another one.

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 20:02

Dip - you could certainly get a few more out! IMHO small age gaps work

Steady Daisy! aren't we meant to be saying "No more" at this stage - you are doing well!!

ah well, the snip is ?

foxybrown · 28/06/2007 20:03

Ah you see we wanted small gaps, so we tried again when DS1 was 5 months old! Well, poor DP isn't geting any younger!

daisyboo · 28/06/2007 20:05

therein lies the problem diph.....he doesn't!

this pg has been very hard on me both physically and emotionally and he doesn't want me (or him ) having to go through it all again!

anything from the sweep yet foxy?

Diplidophus · 28/06/2007 20:12

Tricky one. I guess best you can do is ersuade him not to do it so soon. It;s such a big decision it seems the wrong time to make it.

Right DP is home finally - must go cook.

Feeling very achy now. Please oh please let the sweep have done somthing!

See you tomorrow!
