Hi EVERYONE. Just popping in to say hi. I am feeling much better this week - have got iron tablets and on antibiotics for my chest infection and DH got back on Saturday with lots of birthday pressies so that cheered me up !!
Midwife at my wk 28 appt said the baby is transverse as there is alot of room for it to stretch out (ie i have no stomach muscles !) so am feeling movement on both sides of my bump. My DH has no patience to feel any kicks and takes my word for it. But he did buy her a Baby Dior outfit when he was in Hong Kong so suppose he's thinking about her in other ways !!
HIWBB - bet you can't wait to say goodbye to your lovely house guest!
Mrs MAR - I saw a pregnant weather girl on BBC 24 the other day and wondered if it was you !

Holly29 · 25/06/2007 14:21

Hello everyone,

Have been in Mallorca for a week on holiday and then I come back and everything has changed and I can't possibly catch up with everything! ... but deepest sympathies with Pennypops and her train experience.

I feel so behind everyone! I'm only just in the third trimester and just to celebrate I had my first leg cramp last night...

So how is everyone feeling?

My three words for the week are:

  • big-bottomed
  • tanned (!) and
  • crampy (uterus too!)
Rin23 · 25/06/2007 14:28

Hi girls
My kicking is quite low too - I've been wondering if it could be arms waving around?? Also agree with others re no kicks for DH - perhaps you're right about hearing his voice and that stopping the kicks, interesting!

Mrs Fish - spent all weekend with really nasty cold (this is after all last week with sore throat) so totally sympathise if you're suffering.

MrsMar - thanks for cleaning info. I was telling my mum at the weekend about how I was planning to get the nesting clean and she immediately snorted, rubbished it and offered to do me a big clean! Not quite what I had in mind, but too good an offer to turn down really. Will keep the nesting clean number in hand in case it was the alcohol talking (she'd had a few).

Hope everyone is well, sorry to hear about GD problems, FilBrit. I know I am eating way too much sugar so am going to copy your example. v impressive.

Also we finally bought buggy at the weekend which was quite exciting. A bright yellow britax vigour 3. Though am still finding it hard to imagine a baby in it...

MrsMar · 25/06/2007 15:11

HWIBB stereo snoring!! LOL!!! I've got stereo drilling at the moment, hmmm so relaxing, you have my sympathies!! Bet you can't wait to get rid of that mutt, you must be desperate if you actually want to clean your windows!

Rin - what a result with your mum offering to do the cleaning, fantastic, spend the money you would have spent on something nice for yourself I still haven't got round to calling them because I'm going to wait and see just how shocking my house is before I splurge. If it's terrible, then the nesting clean will be money well spent, though we are heading that way... who'd have thought cutting a few tiles would create so much dust?

amyclaramum - I'm not the weather girl you saw, I'm safely tucked away a long way behind the camera thank God!!!

Filbrit - I do indeed live in Northcote Road in battersea, all bar one and Babel are still there, although I feel like a pensioner when I go in those places now so I generally avoid. The dodgy club... well we're blessed with two, The Clapham Grand and Wessex House. Both are still open although I do remember reading somewhere that Wessex House is being demolished and a funky new bar/restaurant and spa are being built (yay!!!) instead. I hope the choc deprivation isn't killing you! I haven't been asked to do a GTT but it would be a really good incentive for me to stop noshing on chocolate and biscuits. I had such good intentions when I first found out I was pregnant, and my diet now is terrible, tooo much chocolate. Oh but I LOVE it!!!! Being healthy tonight though, homemade chicken burgers and salad (recipe from Runners World so it must be good!)

Kinki - I was pretty shocked when the builder said they had to go down 40m. The hole is HUGE!! In diameter it's at least as wide as two cars, it covers the entire road. Thankfully before they started work, they surveyed all the houses nearby so if there are any problems afterwards, ie subsidence or anything, they are insured and will cover the cost of any remedial work. Not sure I would like that to happen though, the hole is so big I reckon my whole house could fit in there! Ironically we've missed most of the torrential rain down here, it's not exactly been sunshine all day, but nothing like as bad as it is in the Midlands and Yorkshire!

Holly - I'm only just in 3rd trimester too, so don't feel too left out. I haven't had any leg cramps yet, but I'm not holding my breath, I could do without something else stopping me sleeping!

Tink - where abouts at the BBC did you work? Not that I'm not dedicated to my work but I'd love to give up working full time once this ones born... but we need the money, sob! I was a terrible meany though and made my dh move to England and start his career all over again, so he's still playing catch up on his salary. Only another few more years before he can keep me in the style to which I've become accustomed!! hehehehe

MrsFish · 25/06/2007 15:43

Rin - well it hasn't progressed into a cold thank god, and I feel much better today after a good nights sleep. Not sure what hit me, it must have just been a 24 hour bug, I don't think it was food poisoning because I didn't get bad stomach cramps, just the throwing up and feeling exhausted afterwards.

Holly29 - Glad you had a good holiday

amyclaramum - glad you are feeling better

I am just about to enter the third trimester too ( I think) will be 27 weeks on sunday. No leg cramps for me either yet. I'm hating this rain but think I would rather it than a heatweave, at least you can get dry and warm in this weather, being too hot is another matter, what with swollen ankles and everything

Hope everyone else is ok

Tinkjon · 25/06/2007 16:00

MrsMar, I worked at Radio 2 for 13 years... went back and did a bit of freelancing when DD was 2-3 (which was lovely!) but too hard to fit it in now.

FilBrit · 25/06/2007 16:37

Mrs Mar - Clapham Grand was the one! I wouldn't dare go there now though as I think everyone would be too busy laughing at me for being past it! Turning Wessex House into a spa sounds wonderful, right on your doorstep!

Holly - welcome back glad you had a good holiday

AmyClaramum - glad your feeling better

tink- forgot to say before but thanks for the advice!

{{{{{{hugs}}}}}} to anyone who's feeling under the weather at the moment

MrsMar · 25/06/2007 17:28

filbrit... I have actually been there once I past 30!! In fact the last time I went there I was 34!! It's quite funny as loads of teenagers were flirting with me, I was with a load of girls the same age and we collected loads of phone numbers of lads young enough to be our sons!! Much fun, not sure I'd do it now (well definitely not now pg!) but it is a laugh. I'm really looking forward to the new spa thing... right up my street (literally ) There's a space nk opening up in Northcote Road now too, so I reckon that's where most of my money will be going soon, as I always say, you're never too fat for potions and lotions!

Tink - I guess you were at Bush then? or are Radio 2 in Broadcasting House? I can never work out where everything, even after 5 years at the Beeb. As a former ITV news person, the Beeb is just HOOOOOOGE for me!

Tinkjon · 25/06/2007 17:45

MrsMar, I was based in a small building near Broadcasting House (called Western House). Are you at TVC? That always seemed scary to me - too big and easy to get lost

Is there anybody else with me in the Revolting Varicose Veins Club? If so, here's a LOL for you! We were playing Simon Says with my DD a few days ago and when it was her turn she said "Simon Says tickle the purple blotches on Mummy's legs"

Holly29 · 25/06/2007 18:07

Waves at everyone

Thanks, it was a fab holiday. Leg cramp was very weird - it just woke me up out of nowhere. Apparently more bananas are in order!

I'm glad to see that the two Mrs. Ladies (Fish and Mar) are also a bit further behind. We'll be able to keep each other company when all the others have happily had their babies and we are going quietly mad.

I just can't wait until 28 weeks (viability deadline!)

laksa · 25/06/2007 18:20

Holly, I am only just about to enter the third trimester on wed so will join you stragglers

Holly29 · 25/06/2007 19:12

Waves at Laksa as well

x

dal21 · 25/06/2007 20:52

Hoorah, am not on my own! Thought I was the straggler way behind everyone else, but am also entering third trimester this week. Am due Sept 28th!

Holly, MrsMar, Laksa - we'll be keeping each other company whilst everyone else starts to pop!

MrsMar - ahh the memories - Babel, wessex house, the clapham grand. I work not too far from there, have done for 6+ years and have spent many a drunken night in those haunts!

Cathbell · 25/06/2007 21:07

Congratulations all who have reached the 3rd trimester. Now you can join me in feeling knackered all the time, enormous and lumbering with continual leg cramps... sorry! Its not as bad as all that actually. I'm starting to feel much slower but mainly its in a good way, much more engrossed on the baby and a pace of life which requires very long baths, and lying down quietly as lot! Seriously, if I didn't have to work this third trimester would be great. It feels like the calm before the storm...

I spoke to my boss about starting mat leave earlier, and she was lovely, offered the option of reducing hours or leaving early and said up to me, so quite a relief. I just need to think about it.

How much leave is everyone's partner (if have one) going to take? My husband is hoping to get a month, from paternity leave and holiday.
xx Cath

SeamonstEr · 25/06/2007 21:09

mmmm, long baths, time off,mmmm.
We haven't met, so hello there!

PurpleLostPrincess · 25/06/2007 21:49

Hello everybody!

I've been feeling kicks and thumps all over my belly. I keep calling one of my close friends at work across the office when lo starts kicking and as soon as she puts her hands on my belly she stops!!! DH has felt her a few times but the best times are at night-time when I put my belly up against his back. So far, he has fallen asleep every time which is really frustrating!!! Now he's had one feel, he doesn't seem all that bothered. I know he is bothered though because he bought some teeny tiny pink reebok trainers for her off ebay lol!

I had another sleepless night so I'm going to try and get to bed early tonight. The house is a mess but I've got to the stage where I really don't care!! The kids have got school uniform and they're all clean which is the most important thing! Am I a bad mum?

HIWBB, I bet you're so pleased to be getting rid of that dog!!! Did DH make it through the day in the end bless him?

MrsMar, I'd be tempted to throw open the window and shout at the workmen!! Saying that, didn't you mention that they are wearing headphones - maybe shouting at them won't have so much impact!? It really makes my blood boil... Sunday morning is a sacred time, even if you haven't been working or are pg!!! grrrrrr

I had 'the chat' with work today - they're going to get back to me in terms of an action plan about my SMP. My HR Director doesn't want to 'break the law' and say I worked more hours than I did - implying that I'd asked her to!!! To be honest, she was devastated to learn how I've been feeling and didn't even know that my role had changed as much as it has. I'm quite sure it will all be resolved and I feel much better for getting it off my chest! Only 3 days to go...

I'm 27+2 - is that the third trimester then? I certainly feel fat enough for it to be and I'm walking around like a weeble too!

PLP xxxx

SeamonstEr · 25/06/2007 21:59

Clean socks, pants and uniform.

No, you're fine.
[I take it you've fed them?]

dal21 · 26/06/2007 08:06

Morning all

Cathbell - we are planning on doing something slightly different. DH will take a few days off when the LO arrives; but then head back to work. for the first 10 days/ 2 weeks - planning to have my mum at home to help me. Mum will be able to give lots of practical help and the emotional support we will need. Then once she heads home, planning to have DH take between a week to 2 weeks off. We'll play that part by ear...he can work from home, so we'll see.

Everyone seems to be starting maternity leave early. I have maternity leave envy. I dont start til 34 weeks which is mid aug. Oh well, am hoping it will fly by! when is everyone else starting theirs?

MrsFish · 26/06/2007 08:23

Mine started April 2005

Luckily I could give up work with ds1 and didn't go back. Although you get no maternity leave from a 2 year old unfortunately

FlossALump · 26/06/2007 08:42

Hi Dal. I just sorted out my mat leave yesterday. I have two weeks holiday from the 12th August and then officially start on the 26th august when I will be nearly 37 weeks which sounds about right to me. Because I work set days my last day is the day I turn 34 weeks. So 6 weeks to go! I'm actually feeling quite good atm - everyone keeps saying to me 'oh you must be feeling it now!' but actually I feel better than I did at about 20 weeks! How long will it last I wonder.

Also managed to get some time off for the first two ante natal classes, both about giving birth which I guess is the most vital part and the bit I need to 'revise' most! I figure I BF for several months but only gave birth for a few hours. Also MN is great for getting BF support. The other session I will miss is meeting the HV, who I already know through DS. So I have two lie ins for the next wednesdays and two short days.

MM can't believe you are having such major works done! By the sounds of what you have on your road though I guess it must be quite a major road? Any hope they might finish early?

DP is still snoring. I upped and left our bed again last night before too long, so didn't listen for long but last night at least it did seem more regular.

How grateful are we all for the rain and general horribleness? I reckon with Wimbledon we must be garenteed a further two weeks of miserable weather - hopefully not too bad though as there seem to be lots of floods or threats of them.

Laksa, PMSL at your DH. Somehow think he might change his mind once the baby is born! DP is horrified at DS's love for lipstick and jewelry. He stands there pursing his lips saying 'my turn' whenever I put lipstick on! Poor child.

I get kicks absolutely everywhere! People generally seem to comment that I am carrying very high, and an area just under my ribs gets particularly painful although has been better this week! The bottom of my bump actually feels quite loose IYSWIM! DP has managed to feel baby a few times, like others say it is more of an issue to me for him to feel it than it is for him! Having said that he has commented on how much it moves when it does. I'm sure DS wasn't quite as busy!

Right I must go and get DS up! He's knackered bless him as he had a busy weekend getting up to mischief with his cousin. Hope everyone has a lovely week!

FlossALump · 26/06/2007 08:45

Sorry reading that back I used an awful lot of !! marks even for me. I'd just like to say that I don't speak in an annoying squeaky high pitched voice in real life, nor do I seem consistently excited or full of energy. Thats the kind of imagery of Mn's I get who use two many !! marks you see(!)

Hopeitwontbebig · 26/06/2007 09:36

mrsfish - had to laugh at the getting no maternity leave from a toddler comment you made. So true, I actually envy those first timers who can use maternity leave to get pedicures and have long lunches with mates. My "leave" will consist of entertaing two 4.5 year olds on their summer holidays, slightly apprehensive about that!

re: paternity leave, really not sure what to do about that either. My ex-nanny has offered her services for a week in September but needs to know in advance which one to book - slightly difficult to know since I am due 15/9!! Might be nice to have some help before my boys go to school but if I have had lo by then my DH will be off.

Feeling very sorry for all those people in Yorks and Lancs and elsewhere with these dreadful floods, what a nightmare. But selfishly also enjoying the cool nights, long may it last.

mrsmar - spacenk on northcote road? I might as well cut up my credit card now

I am also a great fan of the exclamation mark, and the hyphen, and my personal favourite the .......... !!!!! ----
