Hi all.

Thanks for the birthday messages! My day has been fine so far except for the fact that I have had to stay in to supervise the plasterers who are plastering the nursery - at least it means I am not bothered about the rain. DH made me a lovely brunch and is currently trying to assemble a gas BBQ as we have some people coming over tomorrow to celebrate with me - fingers crossed about the weather!

Dal21 - am currently 32 weeks and am also getting mixed messages about the breech presentation of the baby - am having a scan on Thursday and then seeing my obs so I will ask him about it then.

Toadstool - please the op went ok. Am thinking of you and glad that you at least have some distraction for the moment.

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Hopeitwontbebig · 21/07/2007 17:45

EmLouT, glad you're having a good birthday, albeit with the plasterers!

dal21, I wonder, at my 28 week appointment the midwife said the baby was ceph, but it does feel like I am getting kicked down there, unless of course it's punches. I do have a feeling this baby is in the posterior position, I don't relish the idea of a back to back labour again..eek.

Toadstall, so glad your op went well. Wishing you a very speedy recovery, and keep that MP3 player plugged in

Tina, you're having your kitchen done aswell!!! What's with us eh? Nesting to the extreme! Well most of the contents of our kitchen are sitting in boxes in our lounge. We can still see the tv so that's the main thing

OP posts:
Chattyhan · 21/07/2007 17:56

EmlouT - Happy Birthday - hope the weather allows you to celebrate tomorrow?!

Didn't get quite so wet today and managed a few bargains in the next sale - although there wasn't much in the 2-4 age group! Should have been there at 5am i suppose - but 9.45 was the best i could do!!!

canadianmum · 21/07/2007 18:26

We got the amazingly heavy rain yesterday, our kitchen roof just couldn't take it and started leaking all over the place, including through the lights - nightmare, but it seems ok now. Boys thought it was exciting though!!

MrsB - such good news - I am so pleased for you, what a relief

32 weeks today - hurrah!! I have a scan on Monday so will find out if bub is breech or ceph or sideways or whatever . Must start doing more all fours stuff but it is just so much easier to loaf on the sofa all evening .

DH put together the baby hammock today, it looks so sweet and cosy, can't wait to try it.

Is anyone else running out of clothes? I really don't want to buy anymore but am seriously running short of trousers apart from jogging bottoms.

emj23 · 21/07/2007 18:55

Glad to hear all is well MrsB, congrats to you!
Happy Birthday EmLou!

Pennypops · 22/07/2007 10:12

MrsB - I'm SO happy for you that you got good news on Friday. It must be such a weight off your mind. I hope you enjoy the rest of the pregnancy - well, as much as practical anyway!

Emlou - Happy Birthday for yesterday - I am keeping my fingers crossed for you for the BBQ today!

Toadstool - glad the op went well and that you sound a bit more chipper. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and return home xx

For all those of you in the middle of kitchen refits and other building work I hope it all goes well and isn't too chaotic in the meantime !

Well I've had a nice quiet weekend - I met my new midwife yesterday who seemed very nice (complained about old one after rubbish 32 week appt and the fact that she took 48 hours to get back to me after I left a message to tell her I'd had dizziness/fainting etc.) and makes me feel a lot more confident in her ability. Plus she does home visits which is a huge bonus. My lo is still as lively as ever - not engaging yet unfortunately (hopefully this will make heartburn stop) but pointing thr right way. He or she keeps getting hiccups at the mo - it actually woke me up last night as my belly was shaking so much!!

Anyway, enjoy the rest of your weekends all!! xxx

PurpleLostPrincess · 22/07/2007 12:07

Well, we're on 957 messages so not far to go!! Like the idea for the new name or something like 'we WILL make it through the summer...!' (sick of people commenting on that!).

Sorry I haven't been around much, things have been manic here!

Filbrit - glad you've arrived safely, hope you've settled in well?

EmlouT - Hope you had a good birthday!? thinking of you with sorting out the car business. Have a brilliant holiday!

MrsFish - hope you have a great holiday too. I know what you mean about needing a wee but then only a little trickle coming out...

emj23 - I really empathise with you about being uncomfortable, I just can't relax at all - I might try sitting backwards on a chair with some pillows for some rest. Both my DC's were stuck sideways when I had them and with DS I ended up having ventouse, does that mean they were in the wrong position? Might start crawling already...!

toadstool - poor you having to go through all of this. I do hope this ward is better, glad you've got the mp3 player to block out the shouters! Let us know how you get on. I've been taking codeine for my SPD and sacroilliac thingy and have been told it doesn't do any harm...

LoopyLouLisa - I've been eating loads of jelly too! lol

Helenelisabeth - welcome to our thread, look forward to getting to know you

MrsBumbleBee - glad all went well and that you can relax now - phew! I was thinking of getting some nappies too!

pennypops - glad you have managed to get a better midwife, its amazing how much difference it makes to have somebody who is on the ball!

HIWBB - So pleased the surgery went better this time. Really feel for you as far as worrying about how it will effect his role when LO comes but I'm sure you'll work out something that works for you all. Any chance you can unplug his internet connection so he can't work lol? Couldn't help but laugh about paying the boys an hourly rate - make sure they don't drag it out lol!

Well, Friday was an interesting day - went to a wedding that was beautiful but got stuck in the floods and it was all a bit traumatic tbh. Spent an hour and a half just sitting in the car from the church to the reception but she was absolutely gorgeous and it turned out to be a lovely day! Baby was very active and I think she must have been as tired as me yesterday as she was very quiet to the point where I was starting to worry. Thankfully she is active again today though. I was told she was head down last time I was examined (a couple of weeks ago) but I'm sure she has turned as I'm feeling lots of activity right down by my cervix too - hope she hasn't turned around! If she has, hope she turns back again in time! I'm 31+2 now so I guess there's time!

My heart rate seems to be really fast - does this say anything about my bp?

I'm so not jealous of you guys having your kitchens done - here I was worrying about getting the nursery done in time!! We're currently discussing where the computer is going to be from now on and I don't fancy it being in the bedroom but DH keeps telling me we all have to make sacrifices!! (Grrr - told him in response that I'm sacrificing my body here!!!!)

Have got all sorts of financial problems at the moment that are really getting me down I'm hoping things will be sorted out soon but I can't help worrying about it all the time...

Hope you've all had a good weekend - big hugs to everybody (((((hugs)))))))

PLP xxx

kinki · 22/07/2007 14:03

Hello everyone!

PLP, my dh's computer & desk are going into our bedroom too, to make room for the nursery. He seems to think that all the computer equipment and other assorted junk, and a huuuuuge bookcase full of books, manuals, paperwork etc is coming too. We'll address that one when the move actually happens! I don't mind the desk and computer, but not the rest. All the other stuff is from when he studied a lot, but he doesn't need/use it now, so can go in the loft (if I get my way!). I made a screen once; when ds1 was a baby, he slept in a shared nursery/study. That was quite effective at screening off parts of the room, I may make another one, or buy one to use in our bedroom. (I think I gave our old one away).

I don't think fast heart rate is necessarily related to bp. Have you ruled out things like excess coffee, chocolate etc? Maybe check with your mw if you're worried though.

Mrs B, so glad everything went well with the specialists. Hope you've been able to relax this weekend.

Canadianmum, I don't really have any maternity clothes, I've just been using my more baggier clothes, and I'm rapidly running out of them. My bump is quite high, but when it drops I think I'll be struggling with trousers.

Hopey and emlou, good luck with the kitchens. I love that feeling you get when a kitchen is brand new. I'm sure all the hard work and disruption will be worth it - hang on in there! And belated greetings for yesterday emlou! Hopey, so pleased that dh's recovery seems to be going well. He seems very focused on getting well. Such a shame he's in this position in the first place.

Filbrit, good to see you back. Hope you are settling in ok, and not too hot for you.

Hope you're feeling better now MMooMar. Maybe buying that pushchair will cheer you up a bit.

Oh and welcome to helenelisabeth. Each time I see your name, for a second, I think its me because that's my name too, but I have a z. How did your tests go? Hope all is well.

I've been chuckling away about images of us all crawling around on all fours! Am I the only one who actually 'waddles' when I crawl. It's not a pretty sight, really it's not. And apparantly being on all fours is open invitation for small children to jump on my back for some reason too.

I had a growth scan on friday, to check the steroids and blood sugar thing isn't affecting lo too much. He's a bit big, but within normal limits - I can't believe he's over 3.5 lbs already. But then again he will probably double in size yet and I'M FEELING HUGE already - where's he going to fit????

Big hello to everyone else. Hope you're having relaxing, enjoyable and not too wet a weekend.

Hopeitwontbebig · 22/07/2007 16:20

Pennypops, glad your new midwife is better than your old one, how crap to have not returned your call.

Purple, sounds like you had fun at the wedding. Unbelievable that rain wasn't it. We were one of the worst hit areas, luckily we're on a hill so we got away with it, but a lot of the surrounding villages suffered.

Kinki (or should we call you Elizabeth) Pleased to hear the growth scan went well on Friday.. phew! I've got mine a week on Wednesday.

Well I am officially knackered.. quite frustrating this pregnancy lark isn't it. There is so much more I could be doing, but my back won't allow it. VERY painful at the moment, but rest always cures it. Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend. x x x

MrsFish · 22/07/2007 18:18

Hello everyone... hope those that are unwell get better soon, sorry but too much to catch up on individually and I have such a headache I can't manage it.

Just one question... why is it when you want to lie on the sofa and doze the lo has to climb all over you, and keep wanting you to get up all the time, and then ends up headbutting you on the bridge of your nose (hence headache, that and tiredness..) but your dh can lie there quite happily in a hangover doze and not get pestered at all? And does it annoy you that they just lie there and don't offer to help/get up/ occupy lo? That's my sunday afternoon so far

Well the weather on friday was quite atrocious and I spent most of the day on my feet baking for ds's Nursery Summer Fayre, was really tired by friday evening and couldn't face anything to eat for dinner (too much working with food in the day)

Then on saturday morning I went down to help them set up at nursery, then came home and took ds down for a few hours to occupy him over lunch, got home at 3pm and then spent the rest of the day cooking again for a dinner party we had last night and tidying up. Finally got to bed at 1am. Hence being so tired today. I forget how tiring it can be doing something like a dinner pary, especially when I have to decide what to cook, shop for it, prepare it, cook it and clean up after it. All DH does is sits there and gets pissed and writes off the next day due to a hangover....

Sorry that was a real me me me post wasn't it

Hopeitwontbebig · 22/07/2007 21:46

eek MrsFish, doesn't sound like you're having much fun , Men eh! Hopefully you can have a nice early night.

OP posts:
PurpleLostPrincess · 22/07/2007 21:50

MrsFish, you go for it and have a moan, thats what we're here for! I do hope DH bucks his ideas up!? My DH spends most of his weekend on the computer but thankfully does have bursts of helping me out. Yesterday I was so tired from the wedding on Friday but everywhere was such a mess. I was huffing and puffing trying to get stuff done when I got ordered to sit down and rest. I consequently burst into tears and told him I couldn't sit around in the mess - a few hours later he did get into gear and had a big tidy up for me. Its funny how they just don't get the urgency of it like us! Is it worth sitting down and talking to him? If not, try the tears - don't get me wrong, mine were genuine but they certainly worked!

Sounds like you've been really busy you poor thing. I don't know where you get the energy! Friday has quite simply wiped me out and it was two days ago!! I don't know how I'm going to get the energy together for this week ahead. Haven't got anything big planned but just want to get on with the house and all the washing that is building up around me (washed and un-washed).

Hope the headache goes away soon MrsFish xx

We've just watched Titanic and I cried all the way through it - DD (8) has now announced that she is never going on a boat in her life!!

Holly29 · 23/07/2007 09:24

PLP, I also watched Titanic and cried... let's just blame the pg hormones

Canadian Mum - I am so with you. I find it very hard to dress now. Which makes looking smart at work a bit of a nightmare, I'm not sure they will take too kindly to jogging bottoms!

It's so weird, this weekend, the total exhaustion hit me. I felt really tired and faint and rubbish all weekend and I've still got 9 weeks to go! I can't wait to start my maternity leave but still have 6 weeks to go...

Much love to everyone. xxx

MrsMar · 23/07/2007 10:56

Hello everyone, I'm back from my hols and been catching up, it's taken me nearly an hour and I've been taking notes so I don't forget anything. Apologies if I have!

Willjo - welcome to another south londoner, I'm in Battersea and having the baby in St Georges... I love the idea of a home birth but I'm a total wimp and need the reassurance of the hospital

HIWBB - I hope your dh continues to recover from his op. The accident sounds terrible. I'm with you on the whole motorcycle police thing, it was 17 years ago, but my sister and her boyfriend at the time were in a hit and run accident but it was the other way round, they were in a car and the motorcyclist hit them. The motorcyclist was doing 130mph on the wrong side of the road at night on an unlit road with his lights off after having spent 10 hours in the pub. He died, as did his girlfriend riding pillion. His mates who were on bikes behind weaved through the wreckage and left the scene. My sister had serious jaw injuries and her boyfriend lost his sight, was in hospital for 4 months and so nearly died. I take such a dim view of anyone who drives drunk or irresponsibly, whatever they're on or in On a lighter note, well done on getting your nursery decorated, I'm quite jealous, we've only managed to paint ours, it's still got a huge pile of junk in the middle of the room.

I'm very impressed actually at everyone who's got theirs done, with themes too! The underwater theme sounds lovely, I'd love to do something like that, as a former scuba instructor!! I think we're going to have to go for a sports theme as dh is sports mad, he's already asked if we can hang his selection of cricketing giants pictures on the walls... Hmmmm poor baby might get nightmares if the first thing he sees each morning is Ian Botham!!!

Kinki - I hope the asthma and diabetes are more manageable.

MrsB - great news about your cardiology scan, must have been such a worry for you.

Floss - I hope you do get some let up at work soon, I've been told I've got to be more assertive about taking breaks too, time to start being a bit selfish now methinks!

Candadianmum - I have got the most awful swollen feet, dh keeps calling them my granny feet! They started swelling up in the car on hols and haven't really gone down, despite the numerous cold baths I've been sinking them in to. I hope your blood pressure is ok, I have a friend who's had pre-eclampsia four times and I know how awful it can be. I'm sure that not having twins this time will make it less likely to occur.

Sophus - I'm glad your mum has turned a corner, I hope you manage to find some good long term care for her. Oh and awwww about the kitten falling asleep on your bump!!!

Dal - I didn't know that watermelon is a natural diuretic, I'm off to get some!! Might sort out my granny ankles!

Filbrit - so glad you arrived safely in the PI, I hope you settle in well. I agree about sending us some sunshine over here, although I could do without the humidity!

Chatty - I hope you manage to get your baby back up to a more manageable position. It must be a bit of a worry with him/her being so nearly engaged this early. I too have had really low down movement, nothing above a point about two inches below my belly button, but no one seems to worry. I have no idea what it means, but i'm getting sharp kicks to my cervix too. My mum and sister keep telling me there's plenty of time to move but I'm 32 weeks on wednesday. I'm sure they're right though, no one seems that bothered by it yet. I was sure I could feel his head sticking out to one side a few days ago, a hard round lump sticking out under my bottom left hand side rib... maybe he's transverse... who knows!

Toadstool - what an awful thing to happen to you, I'm glad your op went ok. I hope you continue to recover. Can you get some kind of assistance if you're in plaster and with a newborn? You do have my sympathies about the ward though, I've spent plenty of time on an ortho ward with my knee ops, and they're never fun, I sound such a cow, but its always full of old people who take up all the nursing staff time. I once went 8 hours without pain relief after one op, I nearly climbed the walls, it took me descending into hysterics for them to finally get a chance to come and see me. I don't blame the staff at all, there was only two guys on a ward of 23 beds, all of whom apart from me and one other chap who'd had a car crash, were really old and all incontinent. Not fun!

LoopyLou - can I join your wimp with pain club? I'm absolutely terrible. I hyperventilate at the drop of a hat, I'm utterly ashamed at how useless I am! My fears about an op presentation aren't helped by my mum telling me about how my sister was an op presentation, she went in to labour on new years eve, and my sister was born on 2nd Jan (in the evening!!!!) Of course, now I don't think they'd let you go on so long, but still after 40 years my mum still shudders at the thought. Her comment was, no wonder I didn't bond with your sister! That to me is the greatest argument for proper pain management!

And finally, but not least.... welcome helenelisabeth!!! I hope you get some reassurance your excess fluid isn't going to be a problem.

Well it's good to be back in Blighty, France was lovely. Baking hot, I could only manage a few mins in the sun before I had to duck back in to the shade or the pool. I spent most of my time standing waist deep in the pool reading my book to make sure I didn't boil my poor baby! I have come out in my usual delightful blotchy pigmentation though, I had it when I was on the pill too, I look really odd, but I don't care now! I'll pile on the make up and maybe no one will notice! hehehe! It was so nice to have some time with just dh and I, flopping about reading and doing nothing much at all, it was worth a few blotches!

I don't envy anyone making long drives though, we split our drive down to france in to two days, the first day from 5pm til 9pm and the second day was from 9am until 5pm. That was a killer, really hot, the traffic was slow and I had a bit of a funny turn at one point. I think I was holding off drinking enough cos I have to go to the loo so much as it is. Silly really, rectified by a stop at a service station, several litres of water, an evian spray thingy from the fridge to spritz my face and a big bag of icecubes I put on the floor of the car and rested my feet on... bliss! Coming back wasn't nearly so bad as we left at 4pm and drove until 10.30pm and then the next day we were so much further north it was actually quite cool. We also broke up the journey with a stop at a retail outlet centre in Troyes in mid France and bought the car seat we wanted for £30 less than the cheapest I'd seen it in the UK, so bargain!!!! It's the bebe confort creatis one to go with the loola pushchair. It fits on the same frame, so I'm quite chuffed about that!

Anyway, I've rambled on long enough, I hope everyone's well today, we're bracing ourselves for floods today, don't hate me, but to be honest after the heat of the south of france I'm quite looking forward to it!

Have a lovely day all

xx

hannahsaunt · 23/07/2007 11:12

Good morning! Hope everyone had nice weekends; welcome back from hols MrsMar - it sounds lovely and well done on your car seat. I boiled the baby in the bath by accident on Saturday - didn't really appreciate how hot it was (idly letting it top up with hot water so that I could be totally submerged) until I sat up to turn off the tap; I was quite pink and because the bath is cast iron it retains the heat really well so stewed for nearly an hour with my book. It was blissful but I did wonder if it was best for the baby after all.

Finally acknowledged the impending arrival of said child (am still in complete denial ) by buying some newborn babygros in the Next sale on Saturday. Blooming Marvellous catalogue arriving this morning helped as well - looking at all the lovely, completely unnecessary things I could indulge in (well, it is #3 and we do have most of what we need already...) - Cath Kidston changing bag, anyone???

Really hoping I didn't throw out my very shabby feeding bras from last time as they were great for overnight - looked like sports bras and fastened with poppers - if anyone knows where I could buy replacements I would be very grateful.

And it's raining again...

kinki · 23/07/2007 11:54

Hi everyone. Good to see you back MrsM. Sounds like you had a lovely time away. I think we're all quite relieved at the cooler weather. Are you at risk of flooding? I hope you don't get flooded. Its unimaginable the distress that must cause. I don't envy all those that have suffered like this. In your post you mentioned the pain thing, which reminded me that I meant to mention something about pain before.

Everyone, don't jump on me or boo me, but I have quite a high tolerance to pain, not a lot seems to hurt me physically. Not what you all want to hear I know, but this next bit is the interesting bit: I never knew my pain threshold was high until ....... wait for it ...... I gave birth for the first time. I went 30 yrs not even thinking about it. With ds1 I was induced and ended up with an emergency section. I coped well with the pain and with some complications during the surgery. Talking and thinking after the event it dawned on me that yes, I probably don't feel pain like others do. And my dad agrees that when I was young I never really seemed to get 'hurt' although I had the same 'injuries' as everyone else. But the thing is I never knew this till after giving birth, never even thought about it. I just assumed I'll be a big wuss in labour & scream for every kind of pain relief.

In the 7 years that have passed, it's more obvious to me now that pain doesn't bother me. (Interestingly, I don't think ds1&2 feel much pain either, particularly ds2 - he was easily about 9 mths old before I was convinced he could feel pain AT ALL). So what I wanted to say to everyone, especially first timers, is don't write yourself off just yet - you never know, you might surprise yourself, just like I did. (Really, really hope this doesn't come across as braggy or conceited, just wanted to share, that's all).

Holly29 · 23/07/2007 11:57

MrsMar,

That sounds like a fabulous holiday! I read your post very closely because I am going to France in two weeks (also driving) and was wondering how to get through the long drives - we are also doing overnight stops on the way. I will definitely use your water spray and ice cubes tip !

All the hotel rooms I have booked are on the ground floor and within a few metres of the swimming pool so fingers crossed it will all be OK and frankly I am sort of hoping the weather is a bit mixed!

Much love. x

MrsFish · 23/07/2007 13:03

MrsMar - nice to see you back, glad you had a nice time. We are off on saturday to cornwall for a week, if it isn't flooded that is not looking forward to the drive, but have already warned dh that we will probably need to stop every hour for toilet breaks

Holly29 - I know how you feel, I have been so busy since friday the tiredness has hit me like a brick wall this morning... so much so spent the morning in tears as wanted to rest but ds (2yrs old)wouldn't let me and we both got ratty with each other Have sorted myself out now though and am off to MiL's in a bit, so should get a bit of a rest this afternoon.

dal21 · 23/07/2007 13:21

Hi everyone - tons of posts, just popping on quickly so no chance to catch up with all the news. Just a quickie, did the first part of my hypnobirthing yesterday and for those interested, have put my initial feedback on the pregnancy thread as there were a few posters who asked me to report back! (Can i just say had one of the best nights sleep after the day - cannot remember the last time i slept so well!)

Hopefully catch up later on everyones news properly

thebigSea · 23/07/2007 15:31

lots and lots of rain here. Town was cut off Friday/Saturday so no milk, bread or water [bottled] here. It's raining again now, so we may get cut off again in the week. My mum lives nearby in Cheltenham and they have no water, so might come and stop here.
wondering when I should start getting the baby stuff washed and organised. Should I pack a hospital bag?
Apparently lo is not transverse anymore, but I have yet to be convinced, I had a 'stand in' and she seemed a bit crap tbh, i'm sure she didn't measure me properly. It was like she couldn't be arsed as she wasn't supposed to be there iyswim.
I don't think I feel pain as much as other people either, in fact I would even say that while pushing the sensation was pretty cool as opposed to horrendously painful.
For me personally just before [like now] and just after you've had a baby is worse.
I'm really not looking forward to that.

Chattyhan · 23/07/2007 16:32

Mrs fish - i know exactly what you mean about dh lying peacefully while DS uses you as a climbing frame - we have the same here!

MrsMar - so glad you had a good holiday and nice to have you back

Thebigsea - hope the weather improves and you can get the essentials! Luckily in the south east we haven't been affected very much but when i watch the news i can't believe whats going on - and in july!

Hope everyone else is doing well?
I was wondering whether out of our massive group there may have been any early arrivals yet! Surely there will be a couple? I wonder who will be first???

MrsMar · 23/07/2007 17:02

Hi there, me again!

Kinki - don't worry about bragging, I'm dead jealous, it's a quite a thing to have. Unfortunately I've had a few accidents in the past, and some nasty ops on my knees and back, and I've been really intolerant to the pain. So far in my life the most painful things I've ever had done to me was having my shoulder resited after dislocating it and the three week period after I had my tonsils out aged 21. It sounds really pathetic, and I know five year olds are bouncing around the day after having their tonsils out, but it was absolute agony for me, it took me ten days before I could even swallow my own saliva, let alone all the scratchy food the docs were trying to persuade me to eat! Three weeks later I managed to reduce myself to tears trying to drink a glass of cold milk, it looked soooo lovely and it hurrrrt so much! I guess I'm just pathetic

Thanks for concern about flooding, I'm not sure if we're at risk around here, I think it'll be further down the river at places like Kew and Ham that'll be affected. The (one) advantage of living in a flat is that none of my possessions are at risk, although I'm not sure I'd fancy having to wade through yukky flood waters to get to the car! I do feel for those poor people in Gloucestershire.

Holly - goopd luck with the drive down to France. If we'd been organised I would have filled a cool box up with icecubes or something rather than a plastic bag. The car was a bit flooded as it melted, but boy it felt good, and it was so hot that it dried in no time! I don't know where you're going, we were in the south east, by St Trop, and it was really hot there, still in the 30s at 6pm!! While we're having the worst summer in living memory, they're having one of the best, and the two are connected apparently.

MrsFish, I hope cornwall is lovely and not too damp! We had to stop every 2 hours, that was the maximum I'd go without a pee break, plus my mum said I shouldn't be sitting in a car longer than that incase of dvt risk, so it was a nice excuse to get dh to stop the car so I could have a stroll and a pee!

thebigsea - I hope you aren't suffering too much the floods, it sounds horrendous in the west, I've been watching News24 most of the day. The prospect of being without water or electricity would really hack me off, esp with lots of people panic buying water!

chatty, perhaps we should start a sweep (not cervical! hehehehe!) for the first one to give birth. I'd hate anyone to be too early, but I'm really thinking I'd love to fast forward about ten weeks, I'd have a two week old and my body back! Yipeeee!

Keep dry everyone xxxx

hello all, just dropping in quickly to read and post a hello! Glad everyone seems to be doing well, and hope that those who aren't are feeling better.
I had an exhausting weekend doing up the house with my folks who have strenous work ethic. They've been great though. DH away at a wedding! Anyway, hope to catch up on messages but thought I'd say hello before we start the new thread... which looks imminent.
xx

Hiya,

isn't this weather lovely?! well, we'd be complaining if it was boiling hot anyway.

on the pain issue, I am having a spinal for my elective and i'm quite worried about it. when I had epidural for ds I was very out of it on entinox and pethidine so didn't really know much about it. this time though is gonna be very different. the last time i had a local was when i was about 17 and had a mole removed and i can honestly say, having the local injection it felt like i was being burned.

also, i was wondering about some kind of support belt for afterwards. has anyone used one/recommend one or tell me where i can buy one? i think it may help protect me a bit especially having a toddler at home.

and finally has anyone used arnica before? i did for ds but only started taking it after he was born and i wonder if it can be taken in the days leading up to the birth, and what strengths are available.

hope you are all well. as you can tell i am really starting to feel the pressure of time now (5 weeks left on friday )

Hi everyone, another rainy day here in sw london but still happy about the low temps! Had another growth scan today at 32+2, bubba is measuring right on average (well 55th percentile) and weighs approx. 4lbs 11ozs which is more than my boys weighed when they were born - scary! My placenta is still a little low but I have another scan at 36 weeks to check it. Slightly bad news is that lo is breech again after being head down for a while - still lots of time to turn evidently but just one more thing to think about.

mrsmar - welcome back! Glad you had a nice relaxing time and I had to smile thinking about a heavily pregnant woman standing in a swimming pool while reading .

thebigsea - I have done all the clothes washing and organising for the bubba already, mainly because last time I had done nothing when they arrived early. Haven't packed my bags yet but I think I have bought everything......

kinki - re: pain thresholds, I think I have a relatively high pain threshold too, several doctors and nurses and my dentist have commented on it. I am really hoping they are right, a vaginal birth will certainly be the big test .

I feel good but my bump is really starting to ache, especially at the end of the day. Feels like bubba is rubbing his/her head back and forth against my navel and sometimes it HURTS.

good luck to all you mad people doing refurbishments before babies are born, talk about nesting instincts!
