Feeling very proud at being able to get a pic on my profile (it's my cat having her inhaler, they weanted to see it over on chat).

Can't wait til September, I feel like time is dragging now!!

Pennypops · 26/06/2007 11:54

Gosh you've all been busy - I'm off line for a few days and it takes me ages to catch up! I was off sick yesterday as I had such bad heartburn on Sunday night that it caused me to throw up several times so I had next to no sleep and woke up feeling like a complete space cadet. Yuck, yuck, yuck. I am no longer eating anything that could be considered a large portion of food after 12pm. Baby doesn't seem too badly affected judging from the whacks I get into my ribs and under my boobs. He's definitely got the hang of the fact that he's coming out head first.

I'll be 35 weeks when I finish for maternity leave and frankly it can't go quickly enough. 5 weeks to go to the day!!

Holly - glad you had a lovely holiday and MrsMar what a nightmare re drilling!! I hope find a way to keep your sanity!

Floss - fab news about your SIL.

Hopey - couldn't help but giggle at your story about cups of tea and errant Jack Russels! JR's are feisty little things at the best of times. I really hope your friends offer to make good on rug cleaning/replacement necessitated by mad Maddox!

Finally, hello Cathbell!!

MrsMar · 26/06/2007 12:09

hi everyone, oh what a morning! the painter arrived late (of course!) so I had minutes to talk things through with him before dashing out to work. God knows what the place will look like when I get back, I'll probably have black walls! And my spectacular builder (can I recommend him to anyone? No? Not surprised!) has fitted the shower too low so I can't get under it... Like dur!!!! He's not even that short himself!!! (floss, don't worry about the excessive exclamation marks, I'm the worst offender!)

floss - sorry to hear dp is still snoring. Have you tried those nasal strips (for him, bot you!) Apparently they can help if the snoring is caused by blocked nose or sinus problems. My road isn't gigantic, it's just a normal victorian residential road, but over the past few years it's become a bit of a magnet for yummy mummies, so there are quite a few posh shops. I've been there since before it was trendy, when you could still buy something useful like a needle and thread, now all you can buy are over priced children's clothes and lattes!

PLP - sorry to hear you're so tired, I'm sure the children are fine, running wild and loving the fact that mummy isn't running after them all the time

Cathbell - glad you've got such an understanding boss. It's great to get mat leave sorted isn't it? I've got ages, not til 17th August, but I'm sooo looking forward to it. My dh hasn't mentioned anything about leave, tbh I haven't asked him either! He gets the usual two weeks, plus he's got some annual leave to use up. I think we'll see how things go.

Dal, Holly, Laksa and PLP - it's strange to think that when the others are at home cuddling their babies, we'll be gulping down the raspberry leaf tea and complaining about our swollen ankles! I'm 28 weeks tomorrow, I should really go and say hello to the october lot as I'm sure I'll end up having an early october baby. we have a tendency in our family to be late for everything, even our own births!! I was two weeks late and my mum was induced.

Tink - I am at TVC, it is huge. I only know a tiny bit of it, the bits I work in and routes to the tea bar. I'm not entirely sure if I can remember the way to the canteen, I haven't been there for years! I haven't had any varicose veins, a friend of mine who gets more with each baby, and is currently on her third has said that if you don't have them by the end of your first trimester you won't get them. Not sure how true that is, I'm hoping she's right though. I'm sure I'll get tons of stretch marks though, I've got tons from my teen years, I'm sure I'm one of those unlucky people who are genetically prone to get them.

Well I hope everyone has a lovely day and isn't clearing up flood waters or anything horrible like that. I can't believe I have to come to work to get some peace and quiet, I was actually looking forward to getting here this morning!

xxx

EdieMcredie · 26/06/2007 12:10

Pennypops

It sounds like you need to get something from MW for that heartburn! Sounds awful!

Pennypops · 26/06/2007 12:26

Edie I've been spared varicose veins, piles, constipatioon etc. so generally take the view that it could be a lot worse!!

kinki · 26/06/2007 12:46

Hi all, we're not sure what to do about paternity leave. He wants to take it when I'm out of hospital (planned cs), but I want him to have it while I'm in there mainly to look after ds1&2. I was in for a week last time so its a long time to ask friends to run after them for me, plus ds2 is due to start pre-school about then too. (Don't have any family to help out unfortunately).

Poor old hopey - did that dog finally drive you completely doolally? All you managed so far today was a few faces and some exclamations! I'm worried that you've lost the power of speech - or are you just totally engrossed in cleaning those windows.

I'm joining the straglers of the gang. I'm only 27 wks today. (Does the 3rd trimester start at 28 wks?) But I fully admit that I'm cheating - my edd isn't until 25th, but my cs is booked for the 14th, so that's what I've put in the stats page. I wonder who's going to be first to pop? I can't believe we've only got 2/3 months to go - where did the time go? Bet the last bit will drag though.

Those of you with toddlers: do you know the answer why they sleep star-shaped? I shared my bed with my 2yo last night, he's only a wee scrap of a thing, but he managed to take up the whole of bed. I ended up on the edge and my bump was overhanging - not a pretty sight.

PP, I have to take omeprazole because of the steroids I'm on. Apparently it reduces acidity in the stomach. If I forget to take it I get bad heartburn, but absolutely nothing at all if I take it regularly. I don't know if anyone takes it for heartburn, but it is really, really effective imo.

amyclaramum · 26/06/2007 12:53

Hi Everyone hope you're having a good day ?

Cathbell - I'm due on the 1st Sept too !! My dh is taking 2 weeks paternity leave but I am a bit worried that he is thinking of it as holiday rather then looking after me and the DD's ! I made him a list of housework/food shopping/cooking etc that I normally do in the week (I am a SAHM) - think he was a little shocked !

Mrs Mar - have you tried complaining to the Council about the noise from the roadworks ? Hope the bathroom /decorating etc gets done soon so at least you are only dealing with workmen outside your house !

Pennypops - I have taken to sleeping sitting up to avoid heartburn and swallowing lots of gaviscon ! Its horrible isn't it !

OOPS seem to have used alot of !! sorry

dal21 · 26/06/2007 13:21

Hello! thought i would pop on quickly at lunch.

Kinki - welcome to the stragglers gang. I thought third trimester started at 27 weeks? Oh who knows....it is a week closer to popping thats all that matters!
Mrs Mars you may have a point re. the October gang; but i just dont know. Two of my friends, both first timers delivered early...one of them as early as 2 weeks! It was when i heard that that i moved my maternity leave forward by another 2 weeks! Would rather have enough time to nest than not enough!
Amyclaramum - that is precisely why i am having mum at home with me for the first couple of weeks! wont have to lift a finger! or give her a list. i inherited my addiction to cleaning from her - think the house may actually be cleaner than its ever been after she has stayed!

I too am rather selfishly loving the cool weather, but I am rather worried that it may make up for the miserable June in the next few months with avengence!

Think I have found a hypnobirthing course near me in Hampstead....run over two saturdays...think i am going to give it a go. have heard nothing but rave reviews from women who have done it to prepare for labour.

hope everyone is having a good day!

Pennypops · 26/06/2007 13:33

Amyclaramum - how do you manage to sleep sitting up? My latest wheeze is to read in bed and wriggle down into a proper laying down position slowly bit by bit so stop the acid coming up suddenly! Worth a try.

I am actually going to buy shares in Gavison the amount of the stuff I get through.

Dal - will be intrigued to hear what you think of hypnobirthing course.

canadianmum · 26/06/2007 13:36

definitely want to hear more about hypnobirthing too!

kinki · 26/06/2007 13:44

dal, oh, that makes me 3rd trimester today! I would also love to hear about hypnobirthing.

PP, I use 3 thick pillows and a v-shaped one to prop me up at night. I'm at about 45 degrees, but that's enough to keep everything settled.

Anyone else having to do the hand behind the back, pushing themselves up out of a chair routine yet?

dal21 · 26/06/2007 13:45

Will defo let you guys know how i get on. first session isnt for another few weeks - sat 14th Jul. but anything that makes the labour easier (in your mind) and makes me look forward to it is worth the money.

am doing it with this lady who sounds lovely and called me in person to talk me through the course and what it entails

hypno link

dal21 · 26/06/2007 13:47

am also keeping my eye on a lady on the pregnancy thread who is about to start using a epi-no. will let you know what she says (its a balloon that stretches your bits and word of mouth reports are saying it is fab!)

and our mums pushed us all out without any of these shenanigans. makes you wonder!

MrsMar · 26/06/2007 14:07

Hi there.. good luck with the hypno birthing thing. It's very popular in Jersey (where dh is from) and every time I go there lots of people ask me if I'm going to do it. I'm in two minds as I'm not terribly good at those sort of things. Would love to hear any experiences though....

I saw the thread about epi-no. I kind of poo pooed the idea, I was going to do some perineal massage, but reading that research that lulumama posted, it seems to have been effective for that group. I'm just a bit undecided, cos the perineal massage is free, it's just a case of, is it better?

Hopeitwontbebig · 26/06/2007 14:19

kinki - PMSL.. I think probably I have gone a bit doolally!!!

I'm counting down the hours 'til this bad boy goes home...

Had an early 'start' this morning, noticed DH's wound at the back of his arm had popped and was oozing unmentionable 'stuff'. De ja vu, same thing happened after his surgery in November.

Do know what, I've read back my messages over the past couple of weeks..... it's all so ridiculous it's properly funny

Yep , that's confirmed it, I've gone, brain's had it....

MrsMar, I don't envy the mess you're living in at the moment. Shower 'dur' , tell that builder to grow a brain

Holly glad you had a lovely break, nice to have you back.

Pennypops missed you too. Sorry to hear about your heartburn, that's not fun for you

hey kinki you made me laugh about the hand behind your back/getting up thing. It was only last night that I realised I was doing that!! Shuffle shuffle bottom to the edge of the sofa then heeeeeeeeeeeave up we go!!! SO glad I'm not the only one!

I'm not sure what the plan is re Paternity leave. I do know that DH gets 2 weeks full pay, so that's really good. TBH I'm stressing a bit about visitors post birth.. in particular PIL, not so much MIL, but that flippin' FIL... URGH! What I'm hoping for is that my lovely 'wicked' stepmother will come and stay first, maybe first week, then DH. I just remember FIL upsetting me terribly when I'd had DS1 with his tactless comments.. want to hear them....

  1. You're still fat (pointing at my tummy whilst walking through front door)
  2. Isn't 'titty' milk best for baby (after I'd been through a horrendous period of bullying from midwives re breastfeeding)

What do you do????????????????

OP posts:
Hopeitwontbebig · 26/06/2007 14:22

Because I didn't feel that I'd put quite enough emoticons on my last message

and one for luck

Regards heartburn, I'm getting it terrible too...I have to actually do deep breathing to try and ease it before I can get to the remegel. I must have discussed this on the Oct thread I am also on as I have defintely said this today at some point

I get it after everythig I eat, not just the foods they tell you to avoid, I can not stand gaviscon it is the devils work, it makes me heave instead I have shares in Remegel chewy sweets, must get through 2/3 of a pack a day.

HIWBB - your fil sounds very tactless, poor you

I too am loving the cooler weather, so much more comfortable, I actually only woke up once last night as opposed to 4/5

My DH is hopefully having the first week off after the birth to look after ds1, then I am hoping my mum will come again for the second week, she was a godsend He is disappearing for 10 days on holiday though, 4 weeks before I am due, so that is going to be hardwork. (It was booked and paid for before I got pregnant btw just in case anyone was wondering how insensitive it was of him

Oh and I will be 27 weeks on sunday, so probably the last to have lo on this thread, he is due on the 30th, hence the reason am also on the oct thread

MrsMar · 26/06/2007 15:20

HIWBB!! at your FIL's previous comment!! Is he the tea chucker? I would feel slightly ill if my FIL referred to it as titty milk (we don't have one of those, perhaps we should ask mnhq to put one in!

The shower thing did make me laugh, after I'd had ten minutes of swearing and ranting this morning. I'd festered all night over it, but the sight of dh standing in the bath with the shower head at chin level set me off laughing. It certainly tested my pelvic floor muscles anyway!!

sorry to hear about MrsFish and those of you with heartburn. I've had a few bouts, nothing more than an hours worth though, I think I can pin it to too much bread on those days. I did think of you MrsFish, because I hate Gaviscon too, and I seem to remember you saying remegel worked ok. I've never been so bad I have to take something but I'm sure it'll get worse. I can feel it coming on as I watch Tim Henman flounder around on Centre court at Wimbledon at the moment! Why can't he just wrap it up???

MMooMar · 26/06/2007 16:39

OMG......
Hi you lot I`m finally back online!

I HAVE MISSED YOU ALL BLOODY LOADS.
It has taken me all afternoon ....well since 2:30 ..to read the remainder of the last thread from nearly the first of June til now.

Hope you are all feeling and looking fab.I have had a real laugh at some of the stories and cant believe we have 3 newbies too...so welcome to them.

Have had massive problems with crappy SKY broadband, havent been able to get on line for any longer than a few hours in a week, but all looks sorted now.

Missed so much gossip from you guys on all different things I should sue them.

Cant believe I am 29 wks this week, the time is just flying by,scarey or what guys?

Im totally huge now and BH are getting more and more.LO moves into some really uncomfortable postions as well and it gets quite painful now, freaks DP out too sometimes as the whole one side of the bump just sticks right out.Think it must be its back as it was head down on Thursday when I went to see the MW. Got another appointment in 2 weeks ,so has now stepped up a mark...OH JOY! Ribs are really sore too,Feet keep swelling up,but no real bad leaky boobs yet...but thinking of trying those lilypadz things this time round instead of the normal breast pads. As for keeping the lady garden trimmed ..cant even see it anymore! Have got one of those bikini trimmers that you can trim your fur to different lengths or whack it right off.Have been able to trim it very short all over using a mirror and feeling aroundlooks ok but wouldnt risk trying to whack off the edges to shape it without the spacers on the trimmer so it will have to do for a couple of weeks then I think DP will have to take charge..heaven help me.

Find myself lying in bed of a night thinking of the stuff I need to get, stuff I have got that needs to come out of storage in the loft, giving birth, having a prem birth, wondering what we are having this time and yes will I poo this time round(oh the shame).god everything bet you lot are all the same too.Thankfully I am usually that tired I soon fall asleep and dont get that far down the list.

Post again soon guys.
Love to you all XXXXXXXXXXX

MrsFish · 26/06/2007 16:45

Welcome back

MMooMar · 26/06/2007 16:46

P.S
Love the thread name by the way

xxxxxxxxxx

MMooMar · 26/06/2007 16:47

Thanks MrsFish,
Nice to be part of the normal world once again.

MrsMar · 26/06/2007 16:59

Hay MmooMar! Good to see you back!

I too lie awake at night thinking about what's to be done. I'm currently gritting my teeth to stop me having an argument with dh about sorting out the nursery, he thinks we can leave it til mid August. He wants to leave the double bed in there til that late just in case one of his friends needs to stay over. Hmmmmm, I'll save that battle for another day.

I can't believe you're being so dedicated about your personal maintenance, I've even given up on the waxing and shaving I'm very impressed!

MMooMar · 26/06/2007 17:23

Mrsmar! Hi!!

Thanks.

Dont be to hard on DH,at least it will be BEFORE the LO arrives ,the way its going here my new LO will be having its first birthday before it gets into his/her own room!

As for personal maintence ,if I never kept it under some sort of control I would be tripping over it all the time so it is really for safety reasons
and as for waxing....havent had the courage to wax since I was pregnant with my DS.Was fine until then but what they say is true it is defo more painful when pregnant.

Talking of hair having the stuff cut on my head AGAIN on Thursday, costing a small fortune just lately.

xxxxxxxxxxx

canadianmum · 26/06/2007 19:00

welcome back mmoomar!!!

I know what you mean about bump doing funny things, I swear the lo was trying to stick its toes through my cervix last night, it felt REALLY weird....

am rocking away on my birth ball reading this thread and shopping on Amazon while DH does bathtime, bliss!
