Mramar, I have tried rescue remedy once (my friend is really into it) and I thought it tasted just like brandy, are you sure the german lady didn't squirt that into your mouth

laksa · 25/06/2007 11:28

sorry meant Mrsmar!

laksa · 25/06/2007 11:30

mrsfish, snap, my dh keeps missing the good stuff too!! I find myself getting quite annoyed with both dh and bump as they just aren't in synch with eachother. A little irrational I know...

MrsFish · 25/06/2007 11:35

Thing is dh puts his hand on my belly but if he can't feel anything straight away he gives up, as soon as he moves, lo then decides to do acrobatics

Hopeitwontbebig · 25/06/2007 11:37

Snap!! These LO's know!!! What we've done the past few nights is, when we're lying in bed watching tv I tell DH to just leave his hand on my tummy. The night before last LO performed!!! DH was amazed!

Novelty quickly wore off for him though

MrsFish · 25/06/2007 11:40

DH is happy if he can feel one movement a day, I suppose just to reassure himself that everything is still ok

laksa · 25/06/2007 11:40

I solved that problem by refusing to let my dh take his hand away but I wanted him to stare at my belly and wait for it to undulate and I haven't figured out a way to force his eyeballs to remain on that one spot...he keeps getting distracted

Oh my god just realised haven't got my dh a birthday card for tomorrow...

MrsFish · 25/06/2007 11:41

Better get yourself to the shops then

kinki · 25/06/2007 11:49

Laksa, agree about the cost of glasses. But this time I went to vision express where you can get 2 pairs for £99 (I desparately needed sunglasses as well). In the end it was just over £200 though, because the vanity in me wanted the thinner lens which cost an extra £80 and I thought I'd better get their insurance at £25. Normally I don't bother about store's own insurances, but this one also gives you 10% off any purchases for 3 years, so will cover the cost of next glasses I suppose. The range in the offer wasn't massive, but there were some designer names there (mine are ted baker) and out of all the sunglasses there was only one that looked 'funky' which was what I was after, so I got that one. I think I got a bargain, 2 decent pairs for £200, when my last pair cost over £350 for just one.

I'm glad the 'heatwave' has gone, feel much more comfortable now. I know what you all mean about starjumps, I get most movement in my pelvis and on my left side, interestingly hardly anything on my right side.

I only ever tried Bachs rescue remedy once before, just before going into a job interview. I didn't get the job. When I came out of the interview, dh picked me up, and the first thing he said was "phwaor, your breath stinks of wine, have you been drinking?" Apparantly it was very strong, but all I'd had was the rescue remedy, the base of which (or was) grape juice. No wonder I didn't get the job, they probably thought I'd been drinking heavily at 10am.

Mrs M, when you said they're digging 40m down the road, I thought you meant 40m along the road, not into the earth. Blimey that's a big hole. If they continue to disturb you, take a big spade out there, wallop them into the hole and fill it in. Mind you if its a 40m hole you might need us to come round and help you.

Hi everyone, sorry haven't been around for a while (very temperamental PC!) so only just seen the gest. diabetes posts. Fil, sorry to hear about the possible GD - but it sounds like that's all it is at this stage, possible. So try not to worry too much at the moment (far easier said than done though, of course!) Kinki pretty much said everything I know - mine was 4 years ago and I just had my GTT this morning to see if I've got it this time. Your baby will be fine - as Kinki said, it's only if your blood sugar isn't controlled that it can become a problem. A low-GI diet is definately the way to go - space your fruit out, don't drink fruit juice, cut out the sugar and hopefully you'll be fine. Even if you do have GD, it's unlikely that you'll have to take insulin - I'm sure I read that it's a fairly small percentage of women who need it and the rest can control it by their diet. Good luck, let us know how you get on! Kinki, when is your test? I get my results on Thursday.

MrsMar and EnormousChanges, I'm an ex BBCer too! I left when I had my DD...

kinki · 25/06/2007 11:56

Do you think the babies stop moving because they hear their dads and they're interested in their voices. It's the only thing I can think of why mine stops moving as soon as dh tries to feel it. Think I might get him to try feeling without talking next time, to see if that makes any difference. But it really is wierd how they stop moving though isn't it. Ds (7) has felt it loads of times, but then his voice isn't so deep.

kinki · 25/06/2007 12:01

Next week tink. Hope the result goes your way on thursday.

Hopeitwontbebig · 25/06/2007 12:03

kinki - I wondered the same thing.

Tink, good luck on your GT results.

I've got my GT test next week.

I didn't realise they did the GT on quite so many women. I thought I was unique because of my freakishly big babies

!!!!

LOL, they weren't freaks really, they were gorgeous!

Meant to ask this earlier. How difficult do you think it would be to find out DH's blood group? Considering the amount of time he's been in and out of hospital this past year.

I'm meant to be having an anti-D this week, but if I can avoid it that would be good.

There's a chance he could be rhesus neg. Our DS2 is Rhesus Neg, don't know about DS1. DH's Mum and sister are both Rhesus Neg...

How do we go about finding out?

Hopeitwontbebig · 25/06/2007 12:08

Also meant to add that he had a blood transfusion in November, so his blood was definitely sent for cross matching....

Hi Everyone

Being very good (AKA boring) with food now. Mid morning cookies have been replaced with a banana and am resisting all chocolate etc. Bit ticky as lots of floating aorund work at the moment, with birthdays etc. My DH thinks it is hysterical I can't eat it now, and keeps taunting me with rolos ! although I have been eating lots of chocs until now, so perhaps my scary weight gain will slow down !

Kinki - glad the glasses are sorted

Laksa - how weird you need new ones too!

Mrs Mar - glad you had some good sleep, good luck with sorting out the builders. Is it the Northcoste road in Battersea where you live? As if so, I actually used to live just near there! I have lots of happy memories (mainly pre DD1!) of babel, all bar one, and that dodgy club opposite Clap J station. Just realized I'm probably showing my age and these places probably no longer exist or now are probably v naff now!

Mrs Fish - I think 27 weeks def counts as last trimesta! I've got really confused as to how many months I am, I'm currently 29 which I've decided is approx 7 months?

HIWBB - is it today you get to give the doggie back?

Hope everyone has a good Monday - the rain is chucking it down here
Filbrit X

Hopeitwontbebig · 25/06/2007 12:23

FilBrit, I give Mad Maddox back tomorrow. Actually that's reminded me, I need to make some phonecalls about arranging to have my rug cleaned.

I think I might have an early night tomorrow night when his owners arrive, let DH deal with it

One thing I'm looking forward to doing when this dog is gone, is cleaning all my windows. He had wiped his face/nose on every window, it's disgusting!

kinki · 25/06/2007 12:30

Asthma's not been as bad lately thanks hopey. Just finished another course of antibiotics which are quite strong ones and this has helped my cough a lot, especially at night. Just being able to sleep makes a helluva difference. Still on the steroids, and they say to expect to be on them till after lo is born. So all in all, feeling a lot better than before. Everyone says I've finally got some colour in my face after months of looking grey. It makes me feel better when people say I look better.

Bet you're counting down to when you can hand that mutt back! I didn't realise you have your own dog too. Poor thing having to put up with the boxer and then the JR too. (Of course, poor you too!) Dh is being a bit keen isn't he, going back to work? Bet he's only gone in to get away from the mutt. You won't know what to do with yourself when its only you and your dc at home.

kinki · 25/06/2007 12:32

Looking forward to cleaning windows????

Hopeitwontbebig · 25/06/2007 12:34

I know!!!

I think I've finally lost the plot! I normally clean them ..... once a year
