mrs mar - ante natal appointments you are entitled to time off to attend them, they're not leave at all. i just go to them and come back and no-one bats an eyelid.
where you off to on attachment? well done on getting one to start when you get back - everything i want to go for is for six months starting, er, now-ish so no good!

a 'nesting clean' sounds good to me - personally i never get the urge to do housework, pregnant or not. one hormonal oddity which passes me by so i'd be all for getting someone else to do it.

Seamonster - know how you feel and i only have one dd! she had four tantrums in an hour (felt a lot longer) the other week and i just came home, stuck it out til bathtime and then handed her over to dh and didn't come out of the bedroom until she was asleep (she did come in for a kiss goodnight). i had SO HAD ENOUGH.
any chance you can at least leave the kitchen, nappies, lunches and toilets to your dh and put your feet up instead? you deserve it!

SeamonstEr · 21/06/2007 18:53

I'd love to but;
a] he's not the type
b] he's in Hastings

All you first time pregnancies, love ya, but YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

In fact don't read about my lo's at all and just carry on skipping through fields and singing.
Such a lovely exciting time.

hurumph, poor you. i feel for you. sorry can't offer more practical help. hope you have a nice quiet evening and a good night at least.

SeamonstEr · 21/06/2007 19:07

have just asked ds1 to get ready for bed.

I await the tantrum with eager anticipation

Hopeitwontbebig · 21/06/2007 19:22

Hi all

Well DH is FINALLY home!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was at the hospital for 5 hours waiting to see if they'd discharge him and just as I left to pick the kids up from school he was told he could go.... we're still waiting for some final test results to see if he has a bone infection, hopefully not.

Him going through all this wouldn't be so bad if it meant he'd get the use of his arm back (or any feeling, his arm is completely numb), but we'll have to wait another 2 years to see if he achieves any recovery to his paralysis

Bad Bad Bad Bad Boxer update. Today I came home from the hospital to find that he'd chewed the artificial charcoal from our fireplace and smeared it ALL over our cream rug. Seems he wasn't satisfied with smearing chocolate on it on Tuesday.

Poor DH was not happy. Imagine coming home from hospital to find that! I'd love to post a picture of my lounge on my profile, but unfortunately I used my mobile phone to take the pic with!!!

Kinki, hmmm, you likey the height challenged man???!!!!!

I've got my Anti D injection due next week, but forgot to make my appointment, and there's none available now.. whoops

MrsMar · 21/06/2007 19:39

HIWBB - that dog needs to spend the rest of the night outside!!!! I'd have been within inches of taking him to the dogs home!!! I'm glad dh is home, I hope he recovers well now.

Enormouschanges - Hmm it's a wierd one this one, I've had a chat with HR and they've said it's up to my line manager as to what it's called. As I can't take half days or go home early, when I've got an antenatal appt I have to take the whole day off. Its complicated further by being on hours conditions, my shifts are 12 hour shifts, but if I'm signed off sick for an antenatal appointment, I'm only given 8 hours for that shift, so I end up under hours and have to do over time elsewhere to make them up. I have finally got a reassurance from my line manager they won't make me make up the hours for those days, and they won't submit them to hr as sick days, but between us we call them sick days.... it's so complicated! The attachment is a camera attachment, so looking forward to it!

Seamonster - I hope you've managed to get the last dc to bed!! feet up and relax when you do!!

kinki · 21/06/2007 19:51

Hopey, probably would have been had all 3 pods been pointing same direction.

EdieMcredie · 21/06/2007 20:59

OMG my boobs are leaking

toadstool · 21/06/2007 21:23

Hello on new thread. Have been wetting myself with laughter listening to a self-hypnosis CD for "a Beautiful Birth", featuring a lady who [a] sounds stoned and [b] has to say 'your baaaaaaby' every time she comes across the word on her script(does she do this cos PG ladies are too thiiiiick to understaaaaand normal speeeeech?). Thought this stuff was meant to be relaxing??! Anyway have stuck it onto the MP3 player so I'd better start listening to it regularly. And doing pelvic floors. Maybe it'll work.

laksa · 21/06/2007 22:11

Edie, mine are leaking too...but only when I squeeze them

PurpleLostPrincess · 21/06/2007 23:52

MrsMar, that sounds awful! I'm quite sure they can't do that to you - it sounds like possible discrimination to me! Right to paid time off for antenatal care (hope that works - they've changed the instructions on how to do links!?). I've spent quite a bit of time on that website and found it really useful...

HIWBB, so glad DH is back and sorry about the dog, what a nightmare!

Toadstool, that sounds hilarious!!!

Edie, I was thinking about that this morning - when I had DD, my boobs leaked pretty much all the way through but I haven't had anything this time!? The breast pads are great but be careful when washing them as they can break washing machines - use a little bag!

SeamonstEr, hope you got some rest in the end you poor thing!

I'm at the stage where I dread going to bed because I know I won't sleep properly. If I stay up late, maybe I'll sleep longer. Well, its worth a try anyway!

((hugs to all)) xx

FlossALump · 22/06/2007 08:37

Leaky boobs here too! Keep getting this really annoying tingling sensation in them which only goes away once I have squeezed a bit out. Nice. I think I leaked earlier on last time.

ECALTM, don't even get me started on the topic of CM's, I may start ranting and its possible I won't stop! DS will hopefully be attending a nursery come september.

HIWBB, Glad your DH is home. When is your rather burdonsome messy guest leaving?

MrsMar, you are definately allowed paid time off for the classes. My dates have come through. I work two set days a week and don't drive. They are over 4 weeks, 10-12 on my set day to work each week. I know my manager will be lovely about it, but being my second I don't want to take the p*ss. I might try and choose a couple I am most interested in and when the ward is staffed not too badly. I haven't had any time off at all so far, have been able to arrange all my appointments on my days off.

Sleep has become a real issue here too. Had a blazing row with DP about it last night as his snoring is terrible. I know it is mostly unavoidable for him but when I nudge him awake he gets really nasty, and he isn't the least bit apologetic about the disturbance he is causing me. He is really quite overweight and his breathing is very irregular, lots of breath holding and snorting, so very disconcerting to listen too. I am quite worried he has a medical condition but he thinks I am obsessed with it and am making an issue where there is none. Refusing to address it and go to the drs - lets face it if I am wrong I'll be the one who comes off looking stupid. Generally fed up with his lack of addressing anything at all really. Am sleeping in DS's room but it is still disturbing me through old victorian walls... Sorry Rant over!

ChattyHan how is everything going with you now?

MrsFish · 22/06/2007 08:59

Bugger, I didn't realise there was a new thread, was just thinking it had all gone quiet since wednesday and everyone must be incredibly busy

Hopeitwontbebig · 22/06/2007 10:44

Hi all.

My leaking boobs haven't started yet thank goodness. From what I remember, they didn't start until the very end last time.

Seamonster, hope you got the junior monsters to sleep in the end!!

Well we've got 'mad Maddox' the bad Boxer until Tuesday!! My RL friends were appalled this morning when I showed them the pics I'd taken on my phone. They all can't believe how selfish the owners were expecting us to look after him, considering they knew that DH was going into hospital, and I can't walk him because he pulls so much.

Something occurred to me this morning..... they pay £20 a day for a dog walker to walk him, because the wife can't handle him and the baby!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO WHY IS IT THEY EXPECT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE TO BE ABLE TO WALK HIM OR DH WHO HAS A PARALYSED ARM AND WAS GOING INTO HOSPITAL???????????????????///

Also, ha ha ha ha , I'm laughing now.... because I've now got to stage where I've gone a bit doolally!!.... PILs are coming this afternoon and wait for it.........

drumroll//////////// they're bringing their badly behaved Jack Russel (who damaged our house last yr when we looked after him!)

Woooooooooooohay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone on the new thread!
Great to catch up with all the news - I've not had chance to read up til now - been too busy on new job, and pc at home not working, grr.

Mrs Mar - can I ask what's the name of that cleaning firm? I seem to remember you live near me in SW11 ish, and I could really really do with that nesting clean if it's not a mighty rip off.

Amazed to hear about saucy dreams and leaking nips, not had anything nearly so exciting - just not sleeping well at all and got a sore throat. double grr.

Apart from that seem to be getting used to huge belly, although remarkably some people still don't seem to notice and are suprised when I point it out - not sure if this is good or bad news, as perhaps I just look fat. I certainly feel it.

Still, thank God it's Friday, and I'm not feeling too green with envy about all the Glastonbury goers now I know it's chucking it down with rain. Have good weekends all...

Pennypops · 22/06/2007 12:01

Hi everyone,

HIWBB - So glad DH is home at last. I think your "friends" that asked you to look after their destructively inclined and quite clearly not trained at all dog need to have a good long look at themselves. And give you something VERY nice to say thank you.

Seamonster - you have scared me slightly with your posts but I guess I may as well know what I am letting myself in for! Did lol at the quiche in hair bit. Sorry - I hope today is a bit quieter for you!! x

OK, general question to all you expecting dc2 or more - are leaky boobs sort of essential to prove everything is in order? I am starting to get a bit worried because am now past 29 weeks and not seen so much as one drop. I realise that its prob a good thing but I am starting to get paranoid that I'm not going to be able to feed my baby in time. Am I being silly?

Chattyhan · 22/06/2007 13:27

My boobs are not leaking and didn't with my last pregnancy until after the birth and then not much so maybe you'll be lucky and avoid that one pennypops!

I find it hilarious hearing about dogs/builders/children causing havoc but i do sympathise that it's not funny for you at all [stern face]

Flossalump - things with me are ok. DP is staying for the moment but is out most nights and not being at all helpful so we'll just have to see how things progress. I don't have to worry about the financial/emotional/physical implications of him walking out right now but i'm getting pretty sick of being treated like the maid/nanny!

MrsFish · 22/06/2007 13:32

My boobs aren't leaking as such yet either, unless I squeeze them that is iirc mine started leaking at about week 38, mainly during the night if I was lying on them

The longer they take before they leak the better, its a pita with the breast pads and you will have enough of them after the birth

Pennypops · 22/06/2007 13:41

I was wondering of I should start carrying around some breast pads just in case! I was actually really worried that my body would choose the posh wedding I was at last weekend to start playing up. I had this thought that I'd hear a crying baby and then all of a sudden my nice frock would be accessorised by 2 big damp circles!!

Fortunately for once my body behaved. Which is more than my dh did quite frankly!

FilBrit · 22/06/2007 13:46

My boobs are not leaking either and didn't when I had my DD, my braxton hicks have finally started though - I don't remmber having them with DD and really don't like them, they just feel so weird!

Bit tired today as I we woken up by some rellies from abroad last night, they "forgot" about the time difference and rang us at 3.30am for a chat! funnily enough once we weren't too chatty!

MrsMar - I think that your work are being naughty here, really sounds like discimination to me. You shouldn't loose out for anything that is maternity related so you shouldn't have to take a whole shift off and then get paid for 8 not 12 hours. Also it shouldn't be time off sick, as maternity should always be recorded speratly, I know I'm splitting hairs here and you could argue that it doesn't really matter I know but if your work have a scaryily strict attendance policy (we have really strict rules about how much time you can have off before you bascially get sacked!) then if it's recorded seperatly then you can just be certain that any time off for maternity appointments, morning sickness etc can't be included in this..

Floss - I so sympathise about the snoring, I have the same problem with DH. I'm trying to convince myself that it's good preparation for when the baby comes! just wish I wasnt' too tired...

HIWBB - have fun with the doggies - hope your house, rug et all (and you!) survive!

Toadstool - loving that CD,sounds really funny!

Chatty - glad all is calmer now, I'm sorry your partner is still going out most nights though

Filbrit X
