Hopeitwontbebig · 07/07/2007 12:51

Aww MrsFish isha ickle cutey!!!

Oh god, the baby talk has started already

Welcome on board EmLouT! We MUST get out stats thread up to date. I wonder how many of us there are now?!

Kinki - I'm thinking along the same lines as you... will one be using a staple gun, or just the standand type stapler?

seamonstEr - Hello, I'm heeeeeeeeeere!! got distracted by Depressedenders and other general tosh on tv including Big Brother

Can I just say Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! I went to Tesco where they are selling Ben & Jerry's half price YAY!! I bought 3 tubs, was about to tuck into my first tub when I thought I'd just have a quick look at the ingredients list... yep you guessed it.... egg yolks.... egg whites.... eggs....eggs....eggs

Hope you're all out enjoying the sunshine, hope it lasts a little while!

OP posts:
Tinkjon · 07/07/2007 14:28

Hope, are you allergic to eggs, or do you mean because of pregnant women not being allowed raw eggs? 'Cos B&J probably cook their ice-cream (like a custard) or it would say 'contains raw egg' on the tub...

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/07/2007 14:55

ooh Tink, I was wondering/hoping that would be the case. Yes it's the raw egg bit I'm worried about!

OP posts:
MrsFish · 07/07/2007 15:00

You'll be fine with the ice-cream

Tinkjon · 07/07/2007 16:13

Yeah, what Mrs Fish says... it's fine! Ice-cream is just frozen custard, after all!

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/07/2007 17:49

Just thought I'd pop in and say HI! Hope everybody's having a nice weekend? I've done literally SOD ALL all day and I'm still in my nightie! Managed to get some sleep last night albeit very broken but I reckon I've totalled about 5 hours inbetween waking up which is good lately!

Baby has been quiet today apart from the occasional kick on the 'inside' if that makes sense...

See you soon, we're off to the shops to get supplies in so I'd better get dressed!

Afternoon all. Complete chaos. Got the third removal quote this morning, arranged to visit new school in new town for DD next week... Have just discovered that the alleged buyers for our house are demanding a late completion, plus that we go halves on a job the surveyor said it wasn't necessary [nice try], and go halves for employing their cousin's firm to clean our house prior to their moving in ... We need to be in the new city/house/life by late August because of the piffling reasons of me having a baby and DD having to start at her new school. They want to complete in mid-September because of a "family commitment". Like what? They're in their 70s! Result: a series of Braxton Hicks contractions all afternoon. Thanks guys. So I've been emulating Seamonster's inner calm and doing my hospital bag... Breathe IN, two three four, OUT two three four...

EmLouT · 07/07/2007 19:16

Evening all. Just got back from work and thought I would say hello. DH was meant to be waiting in today for a fridge to be delivered. Needless to say we got the fridge but I also got home to a bunch of packing boxes and rubbish in the hall - what is it with men?

Toadstool - I don't envy you moving at this stage. We have just moved and the house is chaos! I don't think I have ever had a braxton hicks contraction - do they hurt?

Am trying to persuade DH to take me out for dinner tonight. Wish me luck!

toadstool · 07/07/2007 22:32

Hi... no, these Braxton Hicks don't hurt - it's your belly tightening and hardening, then releasing, but without the ouch bit. Not comfy in the car anyway! Much envy that you've moved - I doubt we'll ever make it, the way we're going - first buyer dropped out in late April, then this, ho hum...

Hopeitwontbebig · 08/07/2007 19:07

Yay IIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEECCCCCRRRRRREEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAMMMM

Toadstall - that's awful. Your purchasers sound like an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! Family commitments FGS! How stressful for you, I do feel for you

EmLouT - hope your DH is taking you out tonight. You need to get these evenings out (in) while you can!

My poor DH has been suffering quite a bit with pain in his arm this weekend. He was in bed most of the day yesterday. It makes me so sad to see him so bad... and this is all at the bloody hands of a hit and run driver... who has never been caught I'm praying that he'll feel better in a few days.

Well I'm planning on getting the nursery all painted this week. I've recruited some friends who will help me with the cutting in and glossing. Don't think I ought to be up a ladder somehow I'm painting it a lovely bright cream.

Hope everyone is well and 'blooming'

Hopeitwontbebig · 08/07/2007 19:46

kinki - how's your asthma? You mentioned it had got bad again. Hope you're ok.

OP posts:
Chattyhan · 08/07/2007 20:14

snap on the icecream! I've indulged due to tesco's half price offer! As for the egg issue because it has been frozen any bugs would have been killed - the opposite of boiling! So eat away!

Hello EmlouT and welcome!

PLP i love your name - never heard it before! Glad you had a nice relaxing day in your PJ's i used to do that last pregnancy - wish i could do it now!

Toadstool - sorry about the moving nightmares and i hope you can get in and settled before the baby.

HIWBB - good luck with the decorating

we're trying to sort out a couple of nights away at the end of the month we're thinking worcester area (i went to uni there and haven't been back for a few years and have a couple of contacts if anything happens as i'll be 34 wks). Also potential days out at west midlands Safari Park or Cadbury's Any recommendations of places to stay things to do for me, DP and DS 2.5?

sophus · 08/07/2007 21:24

Feeling so much better after a good night's sleep and snooze on sofa this afternoon. Even managed to mow the lawn today so feeling good about myself. DP has gone to London to see concert so quiet evening in with kitten snoozing on my chest contentedly and being absurdly cute.
I have been indulging in ice-cream too this w/end - bliss.
Went and picked up cot and buggy yesterday, but have been banned from opening them until nursery and playroom are ready and we have space to keep them. BORRRRRRINNNNNG. I want to play with my new toys.
And DP even gave me a foot massage last night so my misery must have finally made its point as he is sooooo not a footrub kind of guy.
Here's hoping for a good week for you all.

PurpleLostPrincess · 08/07/2007 23:19

sophus, I've just read your post to DH because he promised me a footrub last week and he STILL hasn't done it for me!!! I'll keep on till he does it - hope you enjoyed yours!? Why won't DP let you play with your new toys!? (grrrr!) Awww a widdle kitten - how old!!!!?????

Toadstool, I can't imagine having the nightmare of moving while pg, really feel for you!

HIWBB, So sorry DH hasn't been well - I hope the person who did it has sleepless nights about what they did and that they're suffering for it in some way!! I'm also doing the nursery in a creamy colour (when we finally get round to it!) - hope it goes well!

Chattyhan you must go to the Cadbury factory and tell us what its like!!! We're planning on visiting there later in the summer hols and I can't wait - yummy!! Hope you manage to book something really lovely! Thanks on the name - you won't have seen it anywhere else because (as far as we have researched) there's only 4 of us in existence - my Aunt, my Mum, me and my daughter!!! (long story!).

Well my tooth isn't too bad today so I polished off a gigantic serving of mint vienetta after cooking a big roast dinner!

The dog jumped on my bump yesterday because the ball landed there by accident. I'm sure all is fine as LO's been moving around etc. but I can't help getting anxious about it! DH feels really bad!

I'm on top of the washing for a change and I've got loads of cleaning done today - DH has finally admitted that I run a much tighter ship than he did! (he was a SAHD for the last 5 years). He did really well for a bloke but I feel like I'm getting my house back again - yay!

Catch ya soon!!!

MrsFish · 09/07/2007 09:16

That sounds intriguing regarding your name PLP, may I be so bold as to ask what it is? Tell me to butt out if you want, I'm just being nosy

[smug]My husband will do my feet whenever I ask, including cutting toenails etc, which is a good job as I am struggling to get down there now

Hope everyone has a good day, the sun is shining here in Derbyshire

EdieMcredie · 09/07/2007 09:53

Im so happy, my annual leave starts today, then 9 months of mat leave, then 7 weeks of annual leave. Not back to work for almost a year!!!!!!!!

MrsBumblebee · 09/07/2007 09:55

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site. Can I join your gang too? First baby, due on Sept 10th.

MrsFish · 09/07/2007 09:57

Good morning MrsBumbleBee - welcome to the thread

Pennypops · 09/07/2007 11:18

Hellooooo everybody. Hope you all had a fab and restful (well, relatively) weekend.

Hello Mrs Bumblebee & Emlou - I think its fab that people are still joining!! There must be one hell of a spike in the birthrate at the mo - every time I look round I seem to see a fellow pudding club member!

Glad to see a number of you have given in gracefully to ice cream cravings over the weekend. I polished half of one those whacking great bars of Dairy Milk that are so big they could double up as a coffee table.

I have read the clothes comments - I am embarrassed to admit the amount of little clothes I have bought. I have been quite practical and gone for lots of little vests/leggings and sleepsuits as opposed to outfits but I did buy a lot I have drawers of little white vests and things like muslin squares. Because we don't know what flavour our LO is we have had to go for white/cream etc. but my mum is DESPERATE to shop for cute outfits. If you hear that there has been a run on the £ in the first couple of weeks of September it's prob my Mum. First grandchild - what can you do?

I've been feeling a bit rough actually - not upset or teary but just feeling the strain physically. Does anyone else get quite searing rib pain or is it just me? I seem to get kicked really hard there, specially on my left hand side and even the skin outside that area feels sore. I love my baby dearly but sometimes I really wish he or she would calm down a bit. I seem to be getting BH's now as well - it starts with a tingling feeling and gradually spreads down my bump. I have been getting them for ages but didn't realise what they were but they are getting stronger now. Gulp.

Anyway, sorry for rambling. Hope everyone has a fab week! xxxxxxx

MrsMar · 09/07/2007 11:59

hello everyone and welcome MrsB!!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I'm in the middle of an insane urge to paint every single surface in my house. I'm currently doing the bathroom, but I'm going round wielding a paintbrush covering up bits I think the painter missed last week! Is this nesting? Prob but not the traditional get down and clean the skirting boards kind.

Penny I am envious of you buying loads of clothes, I can't even contemplate it until what we laughably call the nursery is finished. Currently it's a pretty scary place with a huge heap of junk piled in the middle of the room. When we get back from France at the end of July we're having the big push (well, not THE big push, that comes later!)

I'm v impressed at all the dh/ps giving foot rubs. Mine won't go near my feet, but to be fair I do have a verruca on one which I can't get rid of until the baby's born (damn that over protective pharmacist!)

My ice cream fetish continues... have discovered a great way to up my calcium levels, a milkshake made with 2 bananas, milk, fresh strawberries and a scoop of coconut ice cream. OMG it is amazing (and so slimming )!!!! Oh and I wouldn't worry about the egg thing in ice cream, the stuff you buy in the supermarket is all made using pasteurised eggs, and so long as it hasn't defrosted and refrozen it should be fine. I'm such a naughty girl because I had a sausage and a burger from a barbeque yesterday, and although they were both piping hot throughout, it occured to me that I should have cut the sausage through and cooked the middle, and... oh well, too late!

Sorry to hear you're getting kicked about a bit pennypops... Is everyone else getting kicks and movements around their rib area? I still haven't had the slightest kick or wriggle above my belly button. In fact I haven't had any movement above a point about two inches below my belly button. I'm thinking it's one of three things...1) I'm quite tall, so everything's further apart in there iyswim (although I don't really have a very long body) 2) I have a pelvis as wide as the grand canyon and he's sitting really low in there, or 3) he's breech, but if that's the case he's always been breech as I've never had any movement higher up, which is odd as my 20 week scan definitely said position was cephalic, and I'm pretty sure that means head down.

HIWBB - I hope your dh's arm is feeling better soon.

Sophus - awwww I'm quite jealous of your kitten, my cat is such a cantakerous old moo, 17 years old and does nothing but sleep and try and bite me, which is funny cos she hasn't got any teeth!!!

I've had quite a few of what I think are Braxton Hicks... they started out like a band tightening across the bottom of my bump, like a band joining my hip bones tightening up, now they feel either like someone is pressing down on my bump or the top of my bump is being compressed downwards and squeeeeeezed. They're not uncomfortable, but they do feel like I've done a few sit ups.

Right I'm off to finish splattering paint everywhere, have a lovely day everyone, it's lovely and sunny here in London, but there are biiiiig fluffy white clouds which I'm sure will turn in to showers later.

Take care xx

Pennypops · 09/07/2007 12:23

Lol Mrs Mar I did EXACTLY the same thing re painting - when we did the nursery I got the old paint and roller out and went over all the places on the hall and landing where we have marked the paintwork!! I even repainted the inside of the front door. I put it down to nesting!!

SeamonstEr · 09/07/2007 12:27

I'm back and still feeling mellow....
How long will it last? Probably 'til hometime

my hair is great. (I had it done on sat)
re the nurseries you're all doing/ waiting to do, I'm slightly jealous as this one will be in our room first and then sharing with his big sister before moving in with his big brothers. No nursery
I'm glad the weekend went well for you, and that my words of 'wisdom' have been heeded and that you are taking it as it comes.

And breathe...

Nettee · 09/07/2007 12:48

Edie - I am very jealous of you starting maternity leave now - I have another five weeks to work and am getting fed up with it. At least they have now let me off nights at last. I am on holiday this week and off to Dorset at the weekend (for a sheep sale no less) so am hoping for some nice weather.

Hello to the new people on the thread can't believe how many of us there are - maybe we should have a due in the beginning and due at the end of September thread but would miss half the people here.

well done to everyone painting - we have done literally nothing and the nursary is still a storage room with nowhere else to put all the stuff. haven't even bought one baby grow. Will have to write a list and book a date with DH who is always at work or catching up with the farm so can never do anything else - ok rant over - we have another 10 weeks to fit it in I suppose.

Anyone else excited about Harry Potter coming out in less than a fortnight - can't wait - not sure that DS is going to enjoy loosing each of his parents in turn for 48 hours or so - poor boy.

MrsBumblebee · 09/07/2007 13:08

Hi again, and thanks for the welcome.
Nettee, yes I'm excited about HP7 too. Going to see HP5 on Friday night to put myself in the mood. Annoying, though - I've got an all-day NCT class on the 21st and friends staying for the rest of the weekend, so won't be able to settle down with HP7 until the Monday. Big risk of finding out the ending first!!
