@ReginaPhalange89, I was wondering if the reason it hadn't kicked in yet is because it's a boy! Assume most of that stuff is just a myth, but it doesn't stop you wondering, does it.

@Jxtina86, there are people who don't like Marmite?? It's one of the best things ever Grin

BettySwoll0cks · 21/11/2018 17:13

@AIDE2424 it was me. I went for the same check as you (it sounds like) at a bit over 5 weeks and the sonographer told me that looking at the gestational sac I couldn't be more than 4 weeks which made me worry, esp as I've had 2 mc's before this one. But really, you can't expect to see anything, let alone date it with any confidence, at that stage without a transvaginal scan (aka dildo cam 😂)

BettySwoll0cks · 21/11/2018 17:17

Just had a really stupid argument with DH. I'm usually good at letting the random nonsense that comes out of his mouth go but tonight I am short of patience! So I've disappeared upstairs for a "lie down" (read: dig about on mumsnet)

blueeyedviking · 21/11/2018 17:19

@giraffe888 Yes definitely. I've got the type where I get really bad bloating and cramps so my last three weeks have been a struggle. My stomach also gets very hard so I'm trying to lie down as much as possible when I get back from work as worst in evenings. Trying to eat healthy which normally helps me.. But it's so hard with the nausea.. If you take meds make sure you check with midwife if you can take them as mine (buscopan) was a big no.

@jxtina86 Oh Ryvita is a great shout. Not a fan of marmite but I'm sure I can find something else Smile Thank you!

Jxtina86 · 21/11/2018 17:19

@RooKangaroo my DH! I have been known to make marmite noodles (aka supernoodles, but I sub the sachet for a dollop of marmite) and he has to leave the room because the smell is apparently horrific...!

Jxtina86 · 21/11/2018 17:21

@blueeyedviking no worries! Hope it helps!

Giraffe888 · 21/11/2018 17:23

@blueeyedviking I sometimes take buscopan but find they don’t always help but I’ll make sure not to take them. I also take acidophilus but the pack says to check with GP so I’ve stopped taking them for now. It’s so painful at times isn’t it! X

DartmoorDoughnut · 21/11/2018 17:37

@ReginaPhalange89 I’ll be honest I’m convinced this one is a girl as my previous two I was totally fine but this time around I’m so nauseous!

Twistering · 21/11/2018 17:37

Not had sex once since found out as I’m scared and not feeling it at all tbh. I’ve, ahem, been a good wife in other ways and he has not and wouldn’t say anything but don’t want it to become an issue. Hmm.

@Delilah7 yey!!!! :)

I have no idea what I want for dinner and no food in house. Hurumph.

Delilah7 · 21/11/2018 17:59

@Twistering I've done fuck all with my OH since I've found out 😂😂😂

Laburna · 21/11/2018 19:01

I'm in such an arsey mood this evening for absolutely no reason?! I am seriously not enjoying these hormones right now!

Barker26 · 21/11/2018 19:06

Had a private early scan today ! Crazy ! Baby is measuring 7 weeks 4 days ! Heartbeat was strong. This is my first so I've never seen am ultrasound or anything before it was absolutely amazing and I'm so relieved now I've seen a heartbeat as I've had zero sickness or nausea jist fatigue so half wondered if it was all in my head haha

ratherbeshowjumping · 21/11/2018 19:09

Just catching up - cannot believe how many updates in 12hrs!!
I'm feeling a huge weight off my shoulders having finally told my boss today I've chickened out since Monday she gave me a huge hug & told me how she thinks I'll be a great mum & I burst into tears 🙈
Genuinely such a relief to get that out.

TwinkleDay · 21/11/2018 19:09

Hi guys, I was at work today and my closest work buddy was having a complete melt down and I was the shoulder to cry on, then she said I’m so glad I have you to talk to and listen, don’t know how I would cope without you. And I have still not told a soul so I was there like ‘yeah of course, what the heck are you going to do when I go and mat leave and potentially not come back bless her

Meg1389 · 21/11/2018 19:20

@ReginaPhelange89 my morning sickness kicked in at 6 weeks. Usually starts just after midday and is on and off till I go to bed!

Giraffe888 · 21/11/2018 19:23

@barker26 that sounds amazing! Interesting to know too as my private scan is booked for 7+4 x

StargazyDrifter · 21/11/2018 19:27

Seems there are a few of us on 4th pregnancies this thread - this is also my 4th after 3 losses this year. I am certain that 4th time lucky is a thing!

Twistering glad to hear, we're not quite due date twins any more though, I'm 7w today by Monday's scan. Perhaps we'll align again around 12 weeks!

Kentishgal whether or not you have a feral pole is nobody's business - embrace the badge! I thought it was so nice to get that letter with it in the hard-back envelope. Felt all official. I wondered why TfL don't say 'congratulations' in the letter though! All other services I've dealt with seem to like GP, scans etc.

TwittleBee those are such lovely ways to break the news! You sound like a really sweet soul.

Jxtina86 permanently hungover is exactly how I've described my condition to my (male) boss. Ugh.

Delilah7 that's excellent news, well done you and bean! 💫

No action this side either - not feeling it, bloated, too tired and too worried after all the losses, both of us, irrationally so, I know. Maybe for Christmas... 😂 I have to admit, and sorry if TMI, some of the pulling sensations around my pelvis have been, you know, quite pleasant... 🙈 I feel like a bit of a pervert for saying that.

Flu jab - got mine a few weeks before BFP as they're free at work. I'd definitely get one sooner rather than later as high fever can impede development in the first trimester, especially linked to neural tube and cleft palate is what my internet research has turned up. Fever can also be linked to MC says one study. I got so worried about all this when my horrid cold threw up a fever of 38+C last night. Now taking paracetamol on MW advice to keep it down. NHS says jabs are completely safe.

Soo I had my booking appointment today (never had one, the other pregnancies ended c5w). They were short staffed so it was with a student MW and took 3.5 hours. It was kind of excruciating and when we went into a difficult part of my history she welled up with tears and I ended up sort of having to reassure her that I'm ok now... she was absolutely lovely but I wished it'd been quicker. Poor NHS. So exhausted and my office were a bit grumpy as I'd taken so long. Got 4 referrals and, as far as I can tell, covered everything. Laburna I am so so grateful for your heads up on what to expect, felt v reassured by that in the circumstances.

I had to push my 12w scan to 28 December today as my original date was only 11w by Monday's measurements and that's too soon for some of the checks. Contemplating a private one before Christmas.

7w today an still feeling bloated, sicky and now run down w this cold and intermittently anxious about fever. But also kind of quietly contented after the booking appointment as it's a step forward.

I hope everyone is keeping warm and cosy tonight. Brrrr! ❄️

HchyScott · 21/11/2018 19:29

@Giraffe888 @blueeyedviking thanks for the heads up on buscopan, I nearly took some this week!
My Ibs flared up bad to start with, such bad acid reflux but luckily can take gaviscon advanced still.
My old trigger food was tomatoes or anything red, peppers ect. That’s come back, was in agony after having a pizza the other week and tomatoes in a sand which so I’m totally avoiding now!

Laburna · 21/11/2018 19:33

Sorry you had a bit of a rough booking in session @stargazydrifter. My MW was an old hand and still got a bit overwhelmed with my history. I wonder sometimes whether they have their own history 🤔

It's worth remembering that the notes are ongoing, so take some time to look through them all, there's actually some really useful information in them! But you can also raise anything you are unsure of or think needs changing at the next appointment - 16weeks?

3.5hours, wow. I struggled with my hour long one, DH had to go out to the car and get me some crackers because I felt so ill!

AnnaBegins · 21/11/2018 19:35

Hi ladies please can I join? I think I'll be due 30th July (though I'm sure MW will count it earlier as I have long cycles!) So Giraffe I think we're due on the same day so far!
I already have a 3 year old DS.
I have no symptoms at all bar tiredness. But we'd been trying for a while so I'm so pleased. I'm hoping the lack of symptoms will continue - last time I had a fab pregnancy with very little sickness but I suppose I can't expect to be lucky twice!

AnnaBegins · 21/11/2018 19:41

ratherbeshowjumping I also ride and last pregnancy I continued until 25 weeks (when I grew out of my jodhs!), if it's something you do regularly up to getting pregnant it's generally safe to continue as long as you feel able as your body and muscles are used to it. Also it's amusing as MWs find it weird Grin

Giraffe888 · 21/11/2018 19:45

@annabegind congratulations! How exciting to have a due date twin!!! X

blueeyedviking · 21/11/2018 20:00

@HchyScott @Giraffe888

Yeah IBS can be so horrible sometimes. And I find it's so hard to explain to people... I find that fennel tea helps actually.

I'm considering booking an early scan. If you dont mind sharing, can I ask what you paid? There are no Groupon deals for it in Surrey...

StargazyDrifter · 21/11/2018 20:04

Welcome annabegind

Laburna I was also feeling pretty rough but the student MW said she'd not had any lunch so I scoffed the crackers from my bag when she went to the loo. 😂 You're right about them probably having their own history. It must also be tough to have all that human drama day to day and occasionally something must et through. I will study those notes over the weekend, yes next appt is 23 Jan.

Holty99 · 21/11/2018 20:05

I have a horse too and will be riding as long as I can. My horse has just started back in work after a long period of box rest with a serious injury so it's important that she builds up her fitness again.
