Hmmm I guess it depends how much they give you? They did tell me to say if I was uncomfortable / in pain and they could increase it - at least I think I remember that. I was off my head by that point tbh! Can assure you I felt nothing of the actual section just some pulling. The sensation of being slightly upside down was the bit that was unnerving. You’ll get an anaesthetist with you to monitor so wouldn’t worry. If you can still feel something - they’ll test your leg / tummy first - they’ll just increase it!

Celebelly · 02/12/2018 18:08

I'm having horrible bum/hip pain overnight. I'm fine during the day while walking around/sitting, but at night I can only get about four hours solid sleep and then I have to change sides every 30 mins or so as it feels like my bum/hips are cramping. I've tried all sorts of pillow constructions, lying on stacked up duvets, everything Sad. It's really annoying!

Yakadee · 02/12/2018 18:08

@Since2016 - cool. To be honest, I'd never had one before so thought that's just how it worked? Never thought to say anything as didn't know! It defo ran out in time to give birth and for all the stitches - felt awesome 👌

AliceRR · 02/12/2018 18:11

@Celebelly Sounds like me. I get that at night in bed and the hip I’m sleeping on hurts so I move to the other side and then back (being conscious that we are encouraged to sleep on our left sides!) but the actual buttock pain has just started and i don’t love it 😆

powkin · 02/12/2018 18:14

Got our cot today, we were going to wait but I have an ebay alert set up and one of the new Snuzpods came up - the lady had only used it a few times - clearly it wasn't for her - and she had the mattress and other bits and pieces so it was quite a good deal for something that was essentially new.

Also went to our first antenatal class at the hospital at lunchtime - I think I'm quite clued up but really didn't know about the stages of labour and when to go to hospital etc so was really glad we went! Think it was good for my DH to be more involved again as he hasn't come to any appointments since the 20 week scan.

Celebelly · 02/12/2018 18:17

@AliceRR It's really rotten, isn't it?! I was hoping to get a few more weeks of good sleep in to prepare for the sleeplessness when the baby arrives, but my body seems to have other ideas! Also when I wake up in the night she always seems to be having a little rave in there, so it's sometimes tricky to get back to sleep quickly again!

I try to go to sleep on my left but I probably spend about 50/50 on each side in the end thanks to all the tossing and turning. The one time I've ended up on my back, I woke myself up with the loudest snore in the world Blush

Celebelly · 02/12/2018 18:19

I'm working through my hypnobirthing stuff this evening from the Positive Birth Company. I'm really enjoying it, actually. The 'science' stuff was really interesting and has made me feel a bit calmer about the whole process. Just getting on to the breathing techniques, etc. now.

I'm going to put together my hospital bag too – our trip to hospital this weekend made me realise that I should have something ready to go just in case as we literally called in and instantly had to leave as we are a good 45 mins drive from the hospital. Going to put together a small emergency bag just in case.

AliceRR · 02/12/2018 18:50

@Celebelly

I’m thinking about putting hospital bag together now too. Need to make a list!

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 02/12/2018 18:54

I've got things prepped now also.

My Sil had her baby recently 6 weeks early which would mean mid January for us if that happened. DD was 2 weeks late but you just never know.

Always better to be ready and waiting than unprepared.

lanalawr · 02/12/2018 19:15

Glad all went well @Celebelly. These little ones cause so much worry!

I'm feeling very underprepared at the moment. Kitchen work should be finished this evening other than one light so I can get my house back in order. Then once I've sorted Christmas things I'll be able to think about the baby. We've got most things from last time anyway but they all need finding, washing and sorting. Haven't even thought about a hospital bag yet so will need to make a list. It's scary to think that if this baby follows me I've got less than two weeks left (dd was a week late though so no reason to think this baby will be prem).

babyp160 · 02/12/2018 19:51

@Notquiteagandt big baby here too, I was 28+1 and he is already just over 3lb 😳

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 02/12/2018 19:57

@celebelly you’ve described my nights exactly... I’m so tired all of the time at the moment, I can recharge at the weekend luckily, as my kids are old enough to mostly fend for themselves 😂 But the working week is a killer 😩

Add to that, it actually really hurts to turn over at night.. my back is turning me into an old lady! I already know tonight’s going to be awful, as I was moving a pile of bricks into the garage earlier, sorted out our woodshed and raked a load of leaves. Yesterday I blitzed the house and hung a new blind in the boys room.. I think I’ve overdone it this weekend ☹️

Since2016 · 02/12/2018 20:10

At my growth scan with DD she was predicted to be 8-8.5 at birth. She came out as 9.11! I think they’re very wide of the mark quiet often!

My back pain has improved - she was obviously sitting on a nerve. I found lying on a pillow on my side helped and gentle yoga poses x

Yakadee · 02/12/2018 20:39

My poor baby is coughing like mad (he has asthma). Only been in bed just over an hour and already had to go in 4 times as he was nearly sick / sick.

Poor baby 😩 - don't think anyone will be getting any sleep tonight! Only just got over my infection after my week off work - back to it tomorrow! Going to be a long day 😭

Celebelly · 02/12/2018 20:45

@Yakadee Poor wee soul :( I hope he can settle soon x

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 02/12/2018 20:46

I was told at my scan at 28+2 that he currently weighed 3lb 2oz (I think... over 3lb anyway) they said this was within normal range.

I know of so, so many people who have been advised a weight though, and it’s been so wide of the mark!

Yakadee · 02/12/2018 20:54

@Celebelly - I know, poor baby! It breaks my heart! X

babyp160 · 02/12/2018 21:01

Yeah I'm it sure they can predict that well.

What will be will be!

Since2016 · 02/12/2018 21:03

Another evening of little to no movement. Just called triage in tears so on my way in. Partly feeling like an idiot and partly terrified something is wrong. My sister coming with as DD in bed. Fingers crossed all fine.

sickmumma · 02/12/2018 21:07

@AliceRR I have also been getting pain in my
Bum! I work with children so up and down a lot like doing squats I guess so I think that's what sets it off! I am fine whilst at work but it's later on In the evening I can barely move off my sofa!

My breathlessness seems to have eased and the bump pain had gone but honestly I feel so squashed inside atm!

Yakadee · 02/12/2018 21:09

@Since2016 - I'm sure it'll be fine but you're doing the right thing in getting checked out. Hope you're OK - keep us updated z

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 02/12/2018 21:14

@Yakadee I’m sure you’ve already done all this... but have you inclined the mattress and put snuffle babe/Vicks on the soles of his feet?

Yakadee · 02/12/2018 21:22

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking - thanks but yes! All but have the humidifier on as my husband touched up paint in his room just this morning.

He'll be OK in a few days (I hope) he just has a really rough few nights. He got diagnosed with asthma around Christmas time last year and since he's been taking his brown inhaler it's been a massive improvement this year so far. He coughed for 12 weeks straight last winter - it was really grim! Poor thing was just miserable. I think in hindsight he had whooping cough (missed by me and docs) so hopeful this year will be better. X

Lulabell1 · 02/12/2018 21:34

I should really pack hospital bag as DD was 4 weeks early i was 2 weeks early brother was 6 weeks early and Partner was 5weeks early we clearly dont like to keep people waiting in this family!
