Lulabell1 yes I was very crampy on and off in the week leading up to my labour starting. When it started on the day the contractions were regular from the beginning but not painful at first, just tightenings.

twiglet · 26/11/2018 20:03

I've had a bit of a worry today, woke up at 4am in a lot of pain on my bump no idea what it was it went away after about 30 minutes.

Today he barely moved (I use the kick start app) until I was about to call the unit then decided to have a proper wriggle for 30 minutes. No idea why he was being lazy!

In other news the workman have finally finished just got carpets and wallpapering to go (doing wallpaper ourselves). DH has earned serious husband points by painting every evening for the last week. I can't stomach the smell of the paint!

powkin · 26/11/2018 22:11

I have a really sore stomach/whole front of bump today, I’m not constipated, or not properly in that I’m still going, so wonder what that’s about!

A lady on a training course I was on this weekend asked me if I was having a girl because my bump was so huge! She was right, although 50/50 chance, and I stressed I wasn’t exactly small before 😂

Thought I’d share a bumpie as we haven’t had any for ages (and now I hate myself for using the word bumpie)!

From my photo album it appears I also took a photo of the floor... far too tired for photos clearly!

Had my 28 week midwife appointment this morning,I’m bang on 28 weeks today and due 19th of Feb. For those who asked they took blood! She also listened to the heart beat and had a really feel around to check the babies position 😊xx

Alicejj8x · 27/11/2018 11:15

@AliceRR
Haha yes it was me! It's so odd I wake up to a wet top and it's just one side atm.

When I went for my glucose test a lady come in whilst we was all waiting for the second round of bloods with a plastic boob and started showing us how to get some of the liquid out of our boobs whilst in the shower lol not too sure why but now I no 😂😂

babyp160 · 27/11/2018 11:31

I've read that trying to get milk out and squeezing boobs can trigger labour 😬

I did it the other day and then red that

Celebelly · 27/11/2018 11:33

I've not had any real boob leakage, but I do notice that they get a kind of (this sounds a bit gross, sorry) crusty residue on my nipples, so I'm not sure if there's a tiny bit of leakage occurring sometimes or if it's just dried skin.

I asked baby's position at our scan yesterday and she said she's head down and kind of diagonalish at the moment, which explains where I've been feeling movements, but said she has plenty of room still to move around. I don't think they check position at midwife appointments here till 32 weeks - my midwife didn't at my 28-week app. Will see what happens at next one!

Notquiteagandt · 27/11/2018 11:33

My midwife said not to try it until 36w but is anyone planning on harvesting colostrum? Im looking at the stuff and I just cant work out how it works. But going to give it a go.

powkin · 27/11/2018 11:41

@Celebelly - yuuuuup I've had that! I get the sense that my DH has noticed way before me sometimes and not mentioned it.

My boobs got massive during the first trimester/I was all bloated and puffy but now seem to have actually shrunk back down. I can basically put my old bras on again without extenders which seems weird. They were big before though so perhaps there is no need for them to get bigger!

Celebelly · 27/11/2018 11:46

I think I might try harvest some - I've got some syringes so might as well give it a shot further down the line!

Alicejj8x · 27/11/2018 11:51

Ahh it's funny isn't it
She told us we can try it and defo to try if your leaking it in the shower but I haven't done this lol

She said about collecting the milk for when baby was born and adding to it each time we got some out then keeping it in the freezer and if we wanted to bring it into hospital when giving birth we could but I don't think personally I will do this. I plan to breast feed for a little bit but have all bottles and perfect prep machine as I no I will transition to bottle feed but that's just me but I want to try for atleast 2 weeks as I've heard that bit of milk is very important so if I can I'll try for atleast 2 weeks.

Celebelly · 27/11/2018 11:55

My boobs got HUGE during first trimester. I got stretch marks all over them Sad I'm dreading how big they're going to be when they're full of milk! I'm just using soft sports-style bras with no underwiring. I had to stop wearing proper bras in first trimester cos they hurt so bloody much! DP was in awe of them when they first ballooned (and slightly terrified of them I think! Grin )

Yakadee · 27/11/2018 12:00

Ahhh @Celebelly! I have this too - thought maybe it was just me but glad to hear it's normal! Don't think I have been leaking guess I must have been a little.

I was talking to hubby the other night about this lol x

Celebelly · 27/11/2018 12:12

I'm glad it's not just me!!!

maxiflump1 · 27/11/2018 12:47

My bloods have come back from midwife last week and I’m anaemic so been prescribed iron tablets. That will make my constipation worse so they are doubling my laxido! What with that and my blood thinners I'm glad I have a maternity prescription exemption: I'm costing the NHS a fortune!!

I harvested colostrum post birth using syringes - I found it very tricky I’ll be honest - baby was in NICU so I was asked specifically to try.

Generally I think the advice is 6 weeks BF as a minimum where possible but it’s obviously a personal decision.

Surprisedmom · 27/11/2018 13:11

@maxiflump1 unless you’ve taken them before and know the iron will give you constipation i’d try taking them without the laxitives first. Iron tablets have the opposite effect to constipation on me (and many people).

Yakadee · 27/11/2018 16:02

Not all baby related however, how hard it it to find a reasonable outdoor Christmas tree (artificial) that I can put lights on!

I have my heart set on one and can I blooming find what I want lol x

Yakadee · 27/11/2018 17:13

Scrap that! Plan B it is Haha x

Celebelly · 27/11/2018 17:16

We're off to get our Christmas tree at the weekend. We didn't have a real one last year as we'd just moved house and everything was a bit chaotic, so I'm excited about getting one this year! Although poor DP has to go through the whole ritual of me making him haul out about 20 different trees till I find one with a nice shape, then the trunk never fits in the holder so he has to take it out back and saw it all, and then I'll be even less help than usual this year as I have a bump in the way! And then there's the lights, that have always somehow got super tangled despite living in the garage untouched for a year...

It's weird to think this will be our last Christmas just us two!

Yakadee · 27/11/2018 18:25

@Celebelly - aww and they just get better and better. My son is 2.5yo now and I can't wait for Christmas this year. He still doesn't know what Christmas is but gets excited about lights and Christmas trees etc x

Celebelly · 27/11/2018 18:38

I know, I can't wait! We both love Christmas anyway, but having an excited little person around will make it so much more magical. And I think DP is looking forward to eating the mince pie that's left out for Santa Grin (although it was always whisky when I was wee cos my grandpa drank it!)

Yakadee · 27/11/2018 19:36

@Celebelly - aww I didn't even think about that! Can't wait to do that too. There are so many things to look forward to. We're taking my son on a Father Christmas experience so he gets to go on sleigh, meet FC and get a present (they give him a 'magic' key to father Christmas' workshop and he can pick any present he likes) - not to mention it's on a farm and has a play ground etc. I CANNOT WAIT! I don't know who'll be more excited, me or him! It's the first time he'll have done anything like this x

Lulabell1 · 27/11/2018 20:06

Ahhh makes me very sad to talk about breast feeding... i did with DD for 6months until she got teeth but i had a boob reduction and lift 2 years ago and im worried i wont be able too now iv lost all sensation in my nipples and they cut very high. Will just have to wait and see my boobs have however got bigger again.

Alicejj8x · 27/11/2018 20:06

Anyone else have days where baby is super Active.
It's like
I've hit 28 weeks and bam she's moving like crazy! Today it's like she hasn't stopped and usually when I'm on the go at work she is quiet but today she been so active. Don't get me wrong I love it :) I guess as we get bigger the space gets smaller
