Lots of options re girl clothes - we tend for muted colours and darks as they suit DD best.

I was sick in a bin at the platform this am. Oh HI third trimester morning sickness it’s SO good to see you 🙄

I wanted to shout “I’m pregnant not contagious” at people but figured best not to as I already looked unhinged.

emalady · 19/11/2018 08:28

@welshshepherdess yeah had 3 samples blood count is fine too. They take it all together here if you have GTT to save the midwives work and less needles for the patient.

@mrsy87 that's reassuring, I think I just object to having to look carefully at girls clothes to avoid "I'm stupid but at least I'm pretty" type messages. Bring back the brown corduroy dungarees! Have got a gorgeous pink snow suit that looks like piglet from winnie the pooh though. Kinda want matching outfits for me and DH.

Celebelly · 19/11/2018 09:06

We've got a few pink bits and pieces but nothing too girly. I did cave and buy a floral padded snowsuit thing from Next and it's very pretty, but otherwise her stuff is all functional sleepsuits (although one does have a unicorn on it Grin ). Oh and she has a pink hat with ears, but every single hat we looked at had ears! We've got some nice pastel mint green stuff actually, which I really like.

lanalawr · 19/11/2018 09:53

Those worried about pink - you also can't control what people will buy for you. We said we didn't want dd in pink all the time, which worked for the first few weeks because we didn't know what we were having so everything was neutral. I think she wore almost exclusively pink between three and six months though because a lot of them had been gifts and most of the gifts were pink. It's made no difference. At 2 she now likes purple, green, paint, lorries, buses, cars and horses. She'll often choose something pink but I suspect mainly because it's colourful against the alternatives.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 19/11/2018 11:56

Ah man... was really hoping the 28 week appointment didn’t do bloods! 😩😩

AliceRR · 19/11/2018 12:35

My MW said they do bloods at 28 w appointment but I’m glad because I’m anaemic according you GTT

Yakadee · 19/11/2018 12:43

Appointments ramp up too after the 28 week one. I have another at 31 weeks.

I have my midwife consultant appointment this Friday about a section - feeling nervous! X

StressedOutandHormonal · 19/11/2018 15:16

I think MW told me I’ll now have 28wk appointment (tomorrow), 32 week and then every two weeks

emalady · 19/11/2018 15:21

My midwife this morning said that they will see me every 3 weeks now. Might end up with a new midwife for my last couple of appointments though as they are all changing around, apparently my post code area is elderly heavy and there are only 12 pregnant women so the areas are being moved about a bit.

@lanalawr think gifts was part of my issue, pretty much everyone knows we are expecting a girl so I'm expecting a fair amount of pink tat was was hoping to counteract it with some other stuff but turns out I like a bargain more than I care about colour and bought bags of second hand bits from Facebook. It's eye wateringly expensive to buy everything new.

Since2016 · 19/11/2018 15:47

Yep it’s every 3 weeks from 28 weeks. Ugh. Am wondering how I’ll manage that with toddler DD - hoping to make as many as poss while she’s at nursery... and rely on my mum for the rest!!

I didn’t get that much pink stuff as gifts... people obviously know me well 😂 Some odd bits got the side swipe too... 🙄 it never really crossed my mind - I guess that’s why! We didn’t have much of it 😂

Good luck @yakadee - why aren’t you just seeing the consultant? My consultant appt is at 32 weeks - 4 weeks to go! Trying to stay chilled.

My DD has lived in dresses and pink (a lot through her choice as she's got older) but she is just as into sports, climbing and trains just as much as she loves princesses and barbie.

It really doesn't make a difference.

Yakadee · 19/11/2018 15:55

@Since2016 - my midwife said it would be better as the midwife consultant would be more sympathetic to my needs rather than surgical one just looking at risks.

Honestly, I think I have valid reason so not really bothered who I see x

Since2016 · 19/11/2018 16:09

Sure it’ll be fine! Fx you get a date soon too.

AliceRR · 19/11/2018 16:21

I thought my MW said every two weeks from 32 as well but maybe I noted it down incorrectly

We’ll see!

Yakadee · 19/11/2018 17:06

@Since2016 - thanks. Will be glad to just get in there and see what's what! X

Rowse · 19/11/2018 17:14

I had my 28 week appointment today, next ones at 31 weeks, 34 weeks then every 2 weeks I think.

My bump is measuring big, she didn't say by how many weeks but I have a growth scan for another reason tomorrow so hopefully they'll get a more accurate measurement. I'm not panicked as I know it's not an exact science measuring the bump, but hoping we don't get any reason to worry at the scan tomorrow.

I have to say I was a little relieved to find out we are having a boy as our nieces have been swamped in light pink from day one and I think we would have ended up with a lot of unwanted gifts. Saying that, there are so many more options for girls in the shops than boys which really surprised me, thought I'd find boys clothes easier to buy as they can be more gender neutral.

maxiflump1 · 19/11/2018 17:32

Hey ladies. Totally non baby related but we have just got back to the Hilton in Cardiff after a long day xmas shopping (bump very heavy now) and just shared the lift with half the South African national rugby team. They were all muddy and I didn't know where to look!!

@maxiflump1 haha that’s hilarious. My DH (south African and huge rugby fan) would have been thrilled.

Surprisedmom · 19/11/2018 18:23

@notquiteag&t and @camsie30 it’s really nice to hear reassuring stories about single parenthood. An old work friend who was a single mom also said she was always baffled why people presumed it was awkward because she loved being able to decide everything herself.

As regards getting up off the floor, I am very grateful for my parents dog who is trained to help my mum up if she’s on the floor. When I sit down to do the log burner he comes and fusses round and lets me use him to get back up.

I had my midwife appointment yesterday, she felt my bump and said based on 20 odd years experience she would say I was 27 weeks, then measured me and said the measurement was 26. She said it was still safely in range so no worries and i’m seeing her again at 31 weeks.

lanalawr · 19/11/2018 18:25

@maxiflump1 cool! The Tonga team were all there last week too. Hope you're enjoying shopping in Cardiff.

babyp160 · 19/11/2018 20:25

Family issues today means I've been shaking with anger and stress and in tears all day.

I now feel really awful that baby feels it 😩

AliceRR · 19/11/2018 20:51

@babyp160 I think baby will be fine but I’ve felt similar. I’ve been stressed at home and at work and arguing with DH and have been in tears for much of the last few days!

Trying to be more calm now for baby’s sake

powkin · 19/11/2018 21:08

Pip is kicking so much and so hard right now, it feels so weird. I can’t really handle it. Not sure what her problem is tonight!

Celebelly · 19/11/2018 21:31

I was trying to read some work stuff an hour or two ago, but all I could see out of the corner of my eye was my tummy rippling and little bits sticking out. It was quite off-putting Grin
