I was 82kg at my booking appointment i just weighed myself in boots im80kg how is this even possible at 28weeks

Surprisedmom · 18/11/2018 14:20

@AutumnLee12 I suppose you could tell close family/friends your name choice if you’re worried about someone using it, but honestly I think there are plenty of people in the world with the same names who are close so it’s not a big issue unless it’s a very close relative.
I know what you mean about worrying the name won’t suit them when they arrive. I’ve worried about that too as I decided on his name months ago and the whole of my immediate family know and so we all call him by that name. But I also think he will ultimately just own the name and make it his.

Yakadee · 18/11/2018 14:48

Finally starting to get rid of the stuff in the spare room - starting to feel real! X

bubblybrit · 18/11/2018 16:17

@Yakadee. I was doing the same thing this afternoon. Nursery furniture due to arrive just before Christmas although we won’t organise delivery until afterwards. Just making room for it all now!

hayley013 · 18/11/2018 16:21

@Yakadee we can't decide on a girls name, none are jumping out as a definite yes, but it's mutual, none of us can think of any, DD aged 4 has plenty of wild suggestions haha. We struggled to name her too though, only settled on Heidi when she was 8 days old xx

hayley013 · 18/11/2018 16:22

We get keys to our new house on Saturday so I've started properly packing now, can't wait to be in and settled.

Yakadee · 18/11/2018 17:38

@hayley013 - it's bloody hard isn't it!!! X

emalady · 18/11/2018 17:43

@bubblybrit the girls clothes are gorgeous. I was trying to not go too pink as I have no intention of raising a princess but not doing very well now!

We picked a name ages ago, went through a couple of variations but think we have it. Not telling people until we meet her though incase she really doesn't seem to suit it.

@hayley013 that should give you a bit of time to settle in then. Should be very exciting.

Since2016 · 18/11/2018 18:03

Haha we don’t know anyone (even in my extended Irish family) with the name. Either name! I wonder if this is a bad thing.... 😂

bubblybrit · 18/11/2018 18:36

@emalady. The only item of clothing I have bought is a pink bunny sleepsuit from next. A few friends have bought some sleepsuits which are pink/white so think I’m not getting away from pink any time soon! I’ve not shared any potential names with anyone as DM and MIL are quite opinionated so don’t want them to put me off.

lanalawr · 18/11/2018 21:09

@Camsie30 wow! That puts my kitchen work into perspective. I'm one week in with only a microwave and kettle accessible and already wishing for the end. How are you finding it?

@Since2016 I can sympathise with dh telling people names. He didn't like my boys name suggestion so made me tell his mum (in such a way that suggested he was making fun of it). The way it was done I couldn't really refuse and that's not something he'd usually do. I then told my dp to make it fair (and had a bit of a cry). He's the only one who says he doesn't like it (my parents wouldn't comment but mil would). At the moment I'm winning that one. I like our girls name but have concerns about that because the new computer system at work has just been given the same name.

Alicejj8x · 18/11/2018 21:10

@Yakadee
Oh nooo 🤦🏻‍♀️😥 that's rubbish
Hopefully your be able to sweet talk
Him
Around??

Yakadee · 18/11/2018 21:19

@Alicejj8x - nope 😢

I don't like his first choice either so we've vetoed them both!

I do like our number one choice it's just not what I had pictured. It goes nicely with my son's name and with our surname x

Camsie30 · 18/11/2018 22:26

@emalady my daughter is nearly four. She thinks the whole thing is a fun adventure thank goodness!

@lanalawr it's ok, we're coping. Luckily builders are amazing and it's all at the back of the house and blocked off so not too much dust etc. We're living on pre cooked chicken and salmon, veg etc on the microwave. The worst bit is not being able to let the dog out in the garden so I'm standing in the street at 6.45am in my dressing gown while he has a wee!!

Surprisedmom · 18/11/2018 22:26

I think names is perhaps one of the areas where being on my own has been a positive as I didn’t have to argue for my own choice. I have a feeling my little one’s dad wouldn’t like the name and it wouldn’t be on the table if we were still together, but I really don’t care.

Notquiteagandt · 18/11/2018 22:34

@Surprisedmom Also doing it alone. Have zero input from the father.

I am finding it so much easier doing everything on my terms. No convos about names to disagree over etc.

To be honnest I have not once thought I wish I was sharing this with someone until I sat on the floor yesterday and got stuck. Took me a good 5 mins to get back up again 😂😂😂

Camsie30 · 18/11/2018 23:03

@Surprisedmom @Notquiteagandt amen to that. I find solo patenting much simpler, not that I know any different, but compared to some friends who have partners who aren't very involved/present/helpful. All decisions are mine and while I have my parents who are an amazing support, I like it like that. The name thing is an added bonus!!

emalady · 19/11/2018 06:35

@Camsie30 it's great she is old enough to find it all exciting. How does she feel about being a big sister?

@yakadee hope you get used to the change in name. Must have been wierd to adjust when you thought you had it sorted.

I have my 28 week midwife appointment today, is it just a quick one?

Yakadee · 19/11/2018 07:02

@emalady - thanks!

I had mine and it was pretty quick. Quick chat, bloods, checked sample, measured stomach and that was it really x

Welshshepherdess · 19/11/2018 07:06

@emalady Should be quite quick set of bloods, measurements and a listen to heart beat and go through anything you have queries over. And if u haven’t already got one and need one a mat1 form.

Had mine on Friday I haven’t seen midwife in 6 weeks and she had a lot of note reading to do and took 3 attempts for blood and was only there 25 mins.

Yakadee · 19/11/2018 07:24

Aww I didn't get to listen to heartbeat! 😩

emalady · 19/11/2018 07:25

@welshshepherdess @yakadee that's why I was wondering, I have my matB1, bloods were taken last week at my GTT and I have found out all is OK. Guess very quick chat and a tummy measure, at least knowing the GTT was ok I don't feel quite so bad about the weight gain!!

Welshshepherdess · 19/11/2018 07:34

@emalday Not to sure if your gtt bloods only check for the glucose, the one at 28wks are for iorn I think, so you may still have some unless they took 3 samples from you at Gtt. I haven’t been weighed in a long time and am quite scared to see the gain it must be 2 stone the size I am 😭 and I’ve got another 11 weeks to go! I’m not going to look like the supermodels do after I birth that’s for sure!

MrsY87 · 19/11/2018 07:58

Those of you worried about whether dressing in pink and girlie will result in a princess, fear not! I dressed my DD in pink (along with other colours) and a mix of dresses/leggings etc not OTT pink but just what seems to be on sale in the shops for baby girls and now at the age of 4 she refuses to wear a dress or skirt and her favourite colour is red not pink so I'm not sure it makes that much difference!

Yakadee · 19/11/2018 08:07

They didn't even weigh me - was expecting a telling off too! X
