So I'm 28 weeks today. Officially in the 3rd trimester and that means the joy of daily bloody thinning injections at home until baby arrives.... Sad

I'm not sleeping well at all either. I tend to wake up 3ish then drop off about 5 just before OH gets up for work, which wakes me.

GTT has came back all good though, and just waiting to go in for my first growth scan, 27 weeks today it's flying over xx

Eyedontknow · 16/11/2018 09:18

Had a midwife appointment, asked about GTT and was told no risk factors so I don't have to do it. However, ended up having to get checked for preeclampsia because of protein in my urine and slightly elevated blood pressure. Have to go back in a few days to get checked again. Hoping it's just another UTI or something, but I'm now paranoid over every twinge and slight pain. Also not sleeping well which doesn't help anything!

AliceRR · 16/11/2018 09:40

@Lulabell1 You’re right, it’s probably fine. I have eaten a few controversial things and worried for a couple of day’s and then got over it. Probably won’t eat it again though.

@Babyp160 I think we are allowed McFlurrys. I had one the other day! Mr Whippy is a no (although I had a couple of spoons of DH’s early on and obviously worried about it for three days) but think McDonalds is fine due to hygiene and machines being cleaned / kept on or something

AliceRR · 16/11/2018 09:42

My GTT results say fine for sugar but to speak to GP if I am having symptoms of anaemia. I can’t find the letter now though ( wasn’t with my notes as I just picked those up from my surgery as I realised two weeks ago I left them there!)

I’m seeing MW on Tuesday. Can they prescribe iron tablets or do I need to make separate appointment with MW?

MW said had she would be taking bloods next time anyway so would have thought they can prescribe the basics if results show they’re needed?

Since2016 · 16/11/2018 10:27

Morning all. I’m suffering from awful lower back pain - professor google has diagnosed it as posterior pelvic pain - it’s just on the one side.

Anyone else? It’s driving me nuts. Would a belt help? If so does anyone have any recommendations specifically for supporting lower back pain - not pelvic really though.

Thanks!

powkin · 16/11/2018 10:54

@Since 2016. I’d try and prop yourself up and lie on your back with your knees up. That helps to easy back muscles and getting the blood flow going. You could also try a belt - my physio just gave me a giant tube-y grip to wear. She said it’s very important to engage deep abdominals too. I have a little electric heat mat that also helps a lot.

powkin · 16/11/2018 10:57

I slipped down the last few stairs this morning. I somehow managed to grab onto the bannister and wedge my arm against the wall and find a footing to stop myself falling heavily on my bum and bumping down numerous stairs. Think it’ll hurt a bit tomorrow but no damage done.

Since2016 · 16/11/2018 10:57

Thanks @powkin have been looking at belts - yoga not really doing much either. I didn’t get this last time!!! Sleeping on my side is a nightmare makes it hurt so much!

powkin · 16/11/2018 11:01

@Since2016 I had a lot of lower back/coccyx pain and then it has died down. My bbhugme pillow is great for propping me up a bit. We call it Alexander (Skarsgard)/Sandra when my DH is hugging it (90’s Sandra Bullock 🙄)

babyp160 · 16/11/2018 11:05

@maxiflump1 why the daily injections?

Since2016 · 16/11/2018 11:19

Already have a pregnancy pillow - dream genie which wraps round! It’s not so bad today - at home with DD so not sat down much!

maxiflump1 · 16/11/2018 11:21

@babyp160 to reduce the chance of a blood clot. I have several factors that make me higher risk: I'm over 35, I have bad varicose veins in my legs so poor circulation and my dad has a history of deep vein thrombosis. Have to inject in my stomach and it bloody stings afterwards!

babyp160 · 16/11/2018 11:46

@maxiflump1 oooo sounds like my idea of hell. I'd probably Pass out doing it to myself 😂

Hopefully You're better than me!!

Notquiteagandt · 16/11/2018 11:52

An other one here with tail bone pain. Walking a little like a duck at the moment 😂 my spine also clicks I ashume its just everything moving into its new position.

Have noticed when manage to venture out and about. Its always the old men who stop and talk to me about my bump/baby. Saying that in their day men werent allowed any involvement in labour etc and depending on visiting hours etc wherent allowed to see baby sometimes until the next day. How much they feel like they missed out etc and wish ultrasounds etc had been around then etc. Made me feel how much we take modern medicine and technology for granted. They do wonderful things. My random thoughts of the day 😂

Nothing like having a baby that makes everyone want to talk to you. Its quite lovely really.

Had midwife this morning who remarked id really grown and had a lovely good size bump. Measuring the smaller side of acceptible. So reassuring finally seem to be catching up and growing. Bump has well and truely popped out.

Since2016 · 16/11/2018 13:49

20% discount on existing stuff in the joules outlet again on eBay if anyone’s interested. I may have finally bought numero 2 a few bits! Their stuff is fab quality!

Yakadee · 16/11/2018 14:21

Finally bought some baby stuff. I'd only bought one thing before so thought it was about time! Mothercare have 25% off at the moment too x

emalady · 16/11/2018 14:32

Got offered some more baby bits from someone at work so planning not to buy anything more. GTT came back ok which is very reassuring.
I only work 3 days a week in my main job, have a week off in December and a couple of days at Christmas, meaning I only have 16 working days left until mat leave starts. I can't believe how quickly its going now!
I don't really have pgp but get very sore on my hip when I lie down on my side, think it's just because I'm so much heavier. Very annoying.

Lulabell1 · 16/11/2018 14:51

@maxiflump1 ahhhh i start mine next week!!! I have to get my dad to do it i cant bare it even after last time you think id be used to it!! Always here if you need advice

Since2016 · 16/11/2018 16:52

Haha @yakadee today is literally the first things I’ve bought other than some booties in Sainsbury’s 😂 poor neglected second child! DH is going to freak when I send him into the loft to get all the vacuum packed bags 😂😂😂

Yakadee · 16/11/2018 18:29

@Since2016 - I went through all my stuff a little while ago (as we have a boy and are having a girl) and even though I had a MASSIVE sort out I still have one massive vac bag we can reuse x

sickmumma · 16/11/2018 18:32

I have brought quite a bit now! Got a cot
Mobile, a little organiser for our snuzpod and a really lovely playmat in the mothercare sales! I cannot wait to get our pushchair either although won't be until end of Jan earliest I don't think! I follow Joolz on Instagram and keep seeing them pop up! There are some really lovely nursery shops on Instagram too where I've seen a few nice bits!

I am feeling okay at the moment, if I sit for too long then I'm a bit like an old lady getting up and after work in the evenings legs and bum ache a little bit I think I just need to take it a bit easier really! I had a lot of back/pelvic pain with my daughter and I am hoping it won't come back this time! Bump is starting to creep out the bottom of my normal tops but still in normal jeans at 25 weeks somehow! I went to Asda on Wednesday and treated myself to a nice long jumper and they had some long vest tops 2 for £4 so I got a couple of those to wear under! I think I'm going to ask for some nice sports type leggings and some trainers for Xmas as well as pjs so that I have some comfy clothes further on! I will be 30 weeks at Xmas which is crazy to think!

Surprisedmom · 16/11/2018 19:38

I’ve bought most things by now, as I just keep picking up things that are bargains and so have the cot/pram/Moses baskets etc. all sorted and tonnes of clothes and blankets (this baby is going to be warm even if February is freezing). I even bought the car seats in this last week and they were the last big expenses I had. I still have some things left on my list but definitely feel like i’ll be pretty well prepared by January.

lanalawr · 16/11/2018 20:54

Does anyone have any experience of measuring big? Had my 28 week appointment today and I'm measuring four weeks ahead. Being sent for GTT next week as it isn't standard in my area and no other risk factors. Hoping it's negative but what happens if not? Will I have to go consultant led? If that's negative but still measuring big in a few weeks I've been told I need a growth scan. What happens if the baby is looking big? I really want to stay midwife led if I can but it feels like that's slipping away from me. I had such a good midwife led experience with dd.

Lulabell1 · 16/11/2018 21:04

@lanalawr
I have experience! My DD was measuring big and im the same this time. I had DD 4 weeks early so our plan never went ahead. This time I measured 32weeks and got sent for emergency growth scan they estimated babies weight and said I will discuss further options at 28week midwife appointment next week and will be sent for more growth scans. Nothing really changes until the last growth scan with my trust you will be labelled high risk, induced and will not be allowed to go over due date if baby is still measuring big at future growth scan. I wouldnt worry as it can all change again and I dont personally beleive in the scans they always get it wrong I had my last growth scan with DD at 34 weeks and they said 5lb2 and she was born 2 weeks later at 7lb11 although thats average size she was prem and theres no way she grew that much in 2 weeksHmm
