@Alicerr hard cheese is generally fine, Feta is on the NHS safe list too.

@babyp160 you can still develop diabetes later but most of the time if you were going to get it in pregnancy then it would show up by 28 weeks.

@lulabell1 have you had buccastem? It doesn't need to be swallowed so can be a bit easier. I agree with getting your urine dipped and continuing with sips of fluid. Hope you feel better soon.

maxiflump1 · 15/11/2018 14:15

@AliceRR Wensleydale is fine as it's a hard crumbly cheese. And feta is fine too as it Stilton etc. The ones to avoid are ones that have a rind like Brie (which unfortunately is my absolute favourite!!) and Camembert.

For those who have two cars, how are you doing car seats? I've been leaning towards buying a base for each car so we don't have to faff about with swapping over and we can just move the seat in between, but I'm not sure how much of a pain it is to switch over an isofix base. We'll probably swap fairly regularly –we have a big main car that DP uses for work and that we'll use when we're going somewhere all together, and then a smaller car that I'll generally have during the day for taking baby & dog out while he's at work.

AliceRR · 15/11/2018 15:18

Thank you 😊

emalady · 15/11/2018 16:02

@Celebelly we were planning on doing the same and getting a second isofix base. Our travel system car seat probably will only do the first year so I think we are going to see what happens when I'm off and assuming mostly she is going to be in my car. Either get a second isofix or possibly a second seat when she needs the next size/I return to work.

Yakadee · 15/11/2018 16:07

We've got two too. We did this with my son and it was definitely easier x

twiglet · 15/11/2018 17:24

@Alicerr yes they can use babies umbilical cord for stem cells to treat cancers including childhood leukemia and some other conditions and its thrown away and is one of the easiest ways to harvest stem cells it's crazy so few hospitals have a donation service.

More info here if interested www.nhsbt.nhs.uk/cord-blood-bank/

My day got worse my workload just went mental as they all know I will be on maternity leave received 10 new projects to review today taking total for before Christmas to 45 BlushSad

Jenn12 · 15/11/2018 19:38

Hi, just to see if anyone is the same, I have been getting big kicks and summersaults for few weeks and since Sunday I have hardly felt anything. Still been getting a kick everyday but it's not as strong as they used to be and not as often! Just to see if anyone else has been feeling this? I have posterior placenta so have been feeling kicks from 18 weeks and now i am 26 + 3 I was starting to see the kicks from outside my belly but could be baby has just moved position possibly?

babyp160 · 15/11/2018 20:21

@maxiflump1 hmmmm melted Camembert with warm bread dipped in.

😩😩😩😩😩

AliceRR · 15/11/2018 20:46

Jenn12 I’ve got posterior placenta as well and been feeling baby from early on(ish) for first baby. Was feeling baby daily by 18-19 weeks.

Had some really strong feelings around then too by then more recently there are days when I don’t feel as much so I think probably similar to what you mean.

When I called MW a few weeks ago she said it will change as baby had less room etc and baby will also change position.

Obviously if you’re worried speak to the midwife but it seems many of us have had periods where we don’t feel as much but as long as it has picked up again, which it always has, I think everything is ok

Some times movements are really strong and make me jump and then I have days where it’s all a bit gentler...

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/11/2018 20:50

babyp160 interesting what your midwife said, how many weeks are you? The advice I've been given is 28 weeks for a "pattern" (even though I refuse to worry about a pattern ie times as DS never had one and a gynae told me it's just what you're used to, not times of day).

I'm 26+1 and definitely noticed a big increase in movements, both frequency and strength, the past couple of weeks, and I have an anterior placenta. I'm sure I was still feeling more with DS (posterior placenta at this stage though).

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/11/2018 20:52

AliceRR did your midwife say movements will decrease as they get bigger/less room? If so that's wrong and outdated - have a look on Tommy's.

AliceRR · 15/11/2018 20:58

@Lookingforadvice123 She said there wouldn’t be a pattern til later (maybe 28 weeks) and baby has less room etc so movements will change / feel different, not necessarily move less. That was the MW on the emergency line I called a few weeks ago

I told local MW a couple of weeks ago and she was surprised at that and said she’s surprised I wasn’t called in and that I should always insist on being seen if worried about reduced movemrnt

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/11/2018 21:08

AliceRR ah ok so not that they move less. I still think it's a strange thing to say this early on, the advice says the movements just increase up until 32 weeks and stay the same. I'd say before about 28 weeks there's still the possibility of reduction due to change position etc. That's the advice I've been given and it sounds sensible.

babyp160 · 16/11/2018 01:20

@Lookingforadvice123 I'm 26+1 today at this silly hour that I have a bad migraine 🤢

I've read 28 week onwards but as she said I have a pickle baby that has no pattern. If he does have a pattern by 28 weeks then I'm sure it'll be fine. It's just if he hasn't kicked all day to call.

Lulabell1 · 16/11/2018 02:20

@aliceRR I really wouldnt worry yourself even if its something you realise your not meant to have dont stress theres been times Iv done the same (I took paracetamol once with caffeine without even thinking) and I rung my nan straight away she was a midwife in her day! She says the same thing all the time “in my day we ate and drunk what we liked and all 7 of my children grew up fine” shes 87 bless her.

Im up at this silly hour surfing the black friday deals and I have had some matalan vouchers through the post so thought Id share incase anyone likes Matalan! They have cute baby bits and their stuff washes really well!

babyp160 · 16/11/2018 03:02

Love matalan baby bits! Thanks.

I'm up as had a migraine which seems to feel better but feeling sick still so just nibbling at a pitta bread in hope I'll feel better. 😩

babyp160 · 16/11/2018 03:04

@AliceRR I'm sure if its a one off it isn't too bad.

Not sure if you're actually allowed McFlurrys as I see mixed opinions but I randomly had one the other day and literally finished the last mouthful and went to OH oh 💩 I don't think I'm allowed McFlurrys! Which he found hilarious as I'd inhaled the whole lot before realising.

Ps I hope we're allowed them as the reindeer malteaser version comes out in a few weeks 🙈😂

Fredthespider · 16/11/2018 06:45

@babyp160 my two friends lived off McFlurrys when they were pregnant and both their boys are absolutely perfect. I think it’s more of a risk getting a soft serve from an ice cream van as McDonald’s are good with cleaning their machines. Mmmm reindeer malteaser mcfluffy... 🤤

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/11/2018 06:50

babyp160 oh cute, a pickle! My DS was like that, no pattern but moving constantly. Funny as he was such a chilled out baby once he was here. Hope your migraine clears soon.

My midwife has said yes to McFlurrys, no to Mr Whippy from a van. I've had a few Mcflurries, especially early on. Yum!

I was up for hours around 2am or 3am Confused DS cried as he must've sneezed, all I heard was "I got snotty nose, I got snot on my hands and in my eyes" 🤢 then he wanted water. He went straight back to sleep, wish I could do that. At least it's Friday.

emalady · 16/11/2018 06:57

My little one doesn't seem to be moving much in general, I do get some kicks and it is daily /not reducing but don't think she has really changed positions ever, from the kicks she is still transverse feet to my left which is where she was at 12 weeks. Wonder if that means she will be chilled when she is here?

babyp160 · 16/11/2018 06:58

@Lookingforadvice123 I'm hoping my baby follow suit then!

Having to call in work sick as I slept 11-12:30am and been up since. Just feel awful.

Listened to hypnobirthing music in hope it would send me off but nope! 😩

twiglet · 16/11/2018 07:42

@babyp160 I feel your pain I've had pregnancy insomnia since about 18 weeks then triggers a migraine as I'm tired.

I've been doing yoga nidra before bed it's a bit weird but seems to be helping a bit, there are loads on utube and can do pregnancy ones.
I can now get about 4 - 5 hours sleep which compared to the 1-2 hrs I was getting is a dream!

maxiflump1 · 16/11/2018 07:56

Anyone else getting night sweats?! I go to sleep fine but wake up absolutely boiling and covered in sweat. I ended up sleeping in just a vest on top of the duvet with the window wide open last night. Poor DH was freezing!

@twiglet it doesn't help I've had a stressful week at work, was crying most of Wednesday evening after a meeting which started the headache into yesterday and now this 😭
