Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

somthing along those lines.... he gave me such grief to go on the darn trip, and then had the nerve to say "well next year it's just going to be Billy and me" -its too long a story really, and the more I tell it, the more I want to leave him!!!!

When i was puking on thurs pm at the hotel, all hot and cold, and feeling SOOOO crap, he said "well this isn't a very good start is it?"... need I say more?!

bananabump · 18/06/2007 13:12

Yay! Love having a new thread. And really hoping to embrace the spirit of TT's first post (You hear that, tooth? Pipe down!) which is so much more doable after 3 hours sleep.

Sorry to hear there are a few of us with problems sleeping, I really think it must be natures way of getting us used to what's coming! And Ceolas, hope you feel better soon, it's scary falling at this stage!

So has anyone got their names all picked out and ready to go, or working from a list? We think we may have decided on ours, finally. Just trying it out for size on the bump.

growingbagpuss · 18/06/2007 13:13

Of course on the plus side..... now this weekend has gone, I've only got 2 MORE WEEKS OF WORK !!!!!

I've just started a list of things to do......

Deforst freezer
Get lots of plastic boxes for larder (why are plastic boxes so reassuring?)
Get Car Seat from Mum
Tidy utility room
Sort out pain relief for post birth
Get more new bras..

bananabump · 18/06/2007 13:15

Growingbagpuss, after the comment on you puking, I'd give him a nice big dose of exlax in his dinner and then be VERY unsympathetic. What a selfish sod!

growingbagpuss · 18/06/2007 13:15

I meant to say earlier - Babymad - nice to see you back!! Thought you'd dropped off the internet!

growingbagpuss · 18/06/2007 13:20

Hmmmm.. but i fear I would suffer equally if he were suffering... one v funny story to tell....

DS and DH had a shower together in hotel - our room had big walk in disabled bathrom so it was a hoot.

DS comes out jumping up and down as 2yrs olds do all naked, and DH joins in, and big naked 50yr old jumping up and down and giggling.

DH then bangs his knee on corner of metal coffee table, and hops around trrying not curse as me and DS roll around laughing. I had to cover my face in teh end to try and pretend I was showing some sympathy!!

Then... he says " I don' t think I'll be able to drive home"......fill in the gaps yourselves ladies !!

jem1969 · 18/06/2007 15:02

I really, really apologise for writing this but it's freaked me out and don't want to talk about it to anyone at work or DH on the phone.
My sister has just told me (and I really wish she hadn't) that her friend's 4 month baby suddenly died last night. It was her who gave me the baby clothes I was talking about below. I've never met her or know anything about her really and it's sent me into a bit of tailspin. My sister says she has had to see the police and everything.
Again- really sorry to write such an inappropriate post but am sitting at my desk trying to not cry with a mountain of bloody work that HAS to get done.

growingbagpuss · 18/06/2007 15:16

Oh Jem - that's awful - you poor thing. I'm not suprised its upset you.
i'm not sure if its helpful to suggest that you look at some of the other threads about SIDS - it might be more upsetting - there are no easy answers - it does happen, and when you are PG it is even worse to hear about it as it is so close to home.

I'd take your self off home if I were you - never mind the work, if you had broken your leg you couldn't do it. Let them get used to you not being there. Go and lie down and feel your LO kick, and feel the energy inside you that you will soon hold.

Take care.

bananabump · 18/06/2007 15:18

aaw jem you poor thing! Was it SIDS? How awful for that poor woman.

Try to take your mind off it for now, perhaps a brief walk in the fresh air might help? No-one could blame you for being upset when you're told things like that shortly before you're due to have a baby yourself, if you do get upset tell your boss you don't feel well and leave a bit early. The work can wait til tomorrow, can't it? Hope you feel better soon.

bananabump · 18/06/2007 15:18

sorry, x posts

jem1969 · 18/06/2007 15:24

thanks girls
I guess it was SIDS- I doubt if she knows yet. I'm not going to look at any other threads about it- I've looked at all the 'bad news' threads too much in the past and know that it's not a good thing. I don't know the poor girl from Adam but just so unbearable to think about.

jem1969 · 18/06/2007 15:30

Not helped by the fact that we've just been out for my 'maternity leaving' lunch (v. early but only day everyone can make) so everyone has been talking about their own babies for the last 2 hours and all getting excited etc.
Can't be annoyed at the LO anymore for keeping me awake last night with all the kicking (it's doing it again now)

jem1969 · 18/06/2007 17:37

apologies for killing the thread- shall I start a happy new one?!

BabyMadandBIGbump · 18/06/2007 17:38

Hi ladies! Love the new tread!

Feeling VERY tired CANT sleep, feeling feed up with it all, BUT only 6 and a half weeks (3/4 if I have my way ) to go, MW again next week and scan the week after that, all speeding up now (thank you god). BUT got some fab news we brought a "Zafira" at the weekend, our currant car would not fit 3 car seats on the back seat and there is no way I could fit in the middle of to car seats neither, so we brought the Zafira, another, weight off my mind !

Hope everyone is fine and well I'll catch up later, Babymadxx

BabyMadandBIGbump · 18/06/2007 17:43

sleeplessness, toothache, hip pain & back pain, is what I'm all about at the mooment but hay last weeks to go!

splodj · 18/06/2007 18:47

Hi everyone. Happy new thread!

I've been going to NCT classes (at my mum's insistence after I asked her to be my second birth partner!). There's a woman there whose baby is breech. The teacher gave some good advice. Apparently the rise in breech babies is due to people leaning back more these days - in the car, on the sofa, at the office. So, if you work at a desk job, push the chair back and lean forward to work keeping your back straight (hoping your chair with wheels doesn't go whizzing back leaving you on the floor!), and make sure the car seat is as upright as possible. And at home choose a more upright seat. I think these few weeks now are quite crucial ones for which way round the little one settles.

I was trying to transfer from St Georges to St Thomas's, because of moving soon, and because St Georges new birthing unit won't be finished until September. I got my booking letter from St Thomas's on Saturday and still feeling happy about that. Am hoping to use the 'home from home' unit with sofabeds for partners and water pools! Is anyone else booked into St Thomas's?

SweetyDarling · 18/06/2007 18:58

Yeah - where are we all booked into?
I'm Chelsea Westminster. We should add these details to our stats thread!

SweetyDarling · 18/06/2007 18:59

Splodj - I just read exactly the same thing on the mothercare site. They also suggest that you should spend some time each day on all fours!

Augustbride · 18/06/2007 19:13

Thanks for all the tips on breech babies folks, think I was getting more woried than necessary and as a few people pointed out he stil has plenty of time to turn.

We have our first NCT antenatal class next week which I'm looking forward to. Have been going to a local aquanatal class but most people seem to turn up, swim and leave without much conversation. Hoping the class will be a bit more chatty as I don't know many people in the area and it would be nice to chat to some RL people aswell as everyone on MN!

jem1969 · 18/06/2007 20:30

I'm at C&W too...

SweetyDarling · 18/06/2007 21:26

Yay! You're due a couple of weeks before me, but if you're late and/or I'm early...!

lizziemun · 18/06/2007 21:42

splodj

I have to give up driving then, i only 5ft and if my seat was upright i wont fit behind the wheel.

I thinking i sould be thinking about doing my birth plan, and maybe getting the last few bits which we need eg the things we need for hospital bag and nappies.

bananabump · 18/06/2007 22:31

Do it lizzie (the birthplan and bag, not giving up driving) it's a weight off your mind when the bag is next to the bed, packed and ready to go with the addition of your toothbrush and your notes! I just need to pack the baby's bag.

I need to write birthplan too, something short along the lines of "Consultant advised early epidural. Please don't put a catheter in til I'm numb. Ask before giving me an episiotomy. Don't cut the cord til it stops pulsing. Skin on skin and breastfeed afterwards. Coffee and toast, no tea for me"

bananabump · 19/06/2007 09:00

Hooray for me, I got some sleep! well, about 4.5 hours anyway. My secret? Sleeping with face on a hot water bottle!

I'm off to the dentists tomorrow and I'm really scared. I'd rather give birth than have a deep filling, how pathetic is that!
