Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

Just spent ages trying to catch up but have given up! Where do you all find the time from?

Have done my last day at work today and am really glad that I don't have to go back for at least 9 months, hooray!!!!!! Everyone was really lovely as well and bought me cards and pressies.

Finished work at 2.30 as had appt with MW, and the good news is that the baby has moved from breech, so hopefully no c-section, and is 3/5's engaged. She did say though that as its not my first it still could change position but its not likely.

Had what felt like contractions last week for a few hours but thankfully went off. It scared me enough to go and get some nighties and flip-flops for hospital but didn't actually scare me enough to start packing or clean the carrycot! Should really be doing that instead of this I suppose but hay-hum.

Am 34 weeks tomorrow so only 6 weeks left, and I can't wait to meet my baby!

So thats my news, hope you are all doing well.

Have we had any births yet? Know its a bit soon but you never know.

PurpleRabbit · 19/06/2007 21:02

Hi everyone. I feel so disorganised compared to all of you! Don't need cot/pram/pump/steriliser/etc as still have it all from DS, but I definitely do need to clear out and paint our spare room! For anyone still deciding, I have an Avent steriliser which I like, and an Avent hand pump, which is okay but I think an electric one would have been better (used one of them in the hospital when DS was in special care unit, and it was great).

My work have arranged someone permanent too, to start a week before I stop, but my boss did make a big thing of saying to me more than once that he still expects me back and the new person is an addition not a replacement.

splodj · 19/06/2007 21:14

I've got bra discomfort too katybird. I think my ribcage has expanded the past couple of days. I keep undoing my bra because it's hurting my back, then forgetting I've undone it at work!

Not sure I'm smelling milky, but had weird crustiness on one nipple last night. Sorry, tmi but what is mumsnet for!

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 07:16

unclean unclean

The boy has chicken pox......

Well that's one less week of work for me!

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 08:43

ok ok so I'm really saad - and while everyone else is getting children up, or going to work (or both) I'm up and have the computer on. It's only because it's next to our bedroom....

conkertree · 20/06/2007 08:57

oh well growing bagpuss - every cloud has a silver lining - would love to have a week less to work but i hope your wee one isnt feeling too bad.

hi purplerabbit - havent heard from you for ages. thats good that they got someone else in but where will they sit when you get back - and is the other part time person carrying on?

splodj - i had the crustiness a few weeks back - now i have large wet patches on my tshirt every morning when i wake up. wore a bra and pads to bed to start with but then decided since i was wearing them all day too, it might be good to get some air over night, so am just watching with fascination in the mornings to see whats appeared over night. really dont understand why it starts so early.

Babylovesmuffins · 20/06/2007 09:40

Morning! Nothing much to add this morning but just jealous of everyone who's finishing work soon Still got 4.5 weeks to go...

Sorry to hear about the pox Bagpuss - it sounded like your wee one was a bit under the weather when he lost his appetite - hope he's feeling better soon and that you manage to get a bit of a rest in your extra week off

Not had any leaking boobs yet... hope I'm able to BF

tokentotty · 20/06/2007 09:55

Morning all,
Have just a week left at work THANK GOD!! Am struggling more than I thought possible as am so uncomfortable sitting at my desk. Ah well, my leaving drinks invitation has gone out now so it's official, despite the fact I've got no cover yet.
Sorry to hear about the boy and his pox Growing, nice bath in Epsom salts for him I guess.
I have extreme rib pain and discomfort like many of you unfortunately. In fact today am not even wearing a bra as just couldn't face it. Stuck a normal size lycra vest on under my top to keep them under control, and am so grateful not to have that 'digging in' feeling from a bra.

Morning all- the only thing I have to say this morning is
I HATE MY BOSS - HE IS A W*ER. (for some reason not allowed to put any more asterixes in
Glad I've got that off my chest
Mum2george- I think the reason we all find the time to go on MN all the time is that we're all stuck in hideous offices and it's the only way to get through! If you have other children to look after I'm sure it's much much harder to find the time.

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 10:19

I've just smothered him in calamine lotion - what a sight!! He seems fine in himself today - got more of an appetite. It's quite nice being forced to be at home - I can potter gently and tidy things, and then hopefully by the time I start my leave, he can go back to Nursery, and I'll have a tidy house and will be able to sun bathe....ha ha ha

I don't envy you guys having replacements coming in - it must be v strange. No-one is replacing/ covering me - and my manager and I have been having a stress the last few weeks as no-one in the team seems to appreciate that they will have to take on a little extra responsibilty (and it really isn't much) for a few months.

Me not being there this week only highlights it really - happy days.

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 10:21

ah yes the B/F thing - for al you first timers - your m/w should have given you a book - which has some really good pictures. I know this sounds daft - but preactice holding a teddy bear, like its a newborn - you really have to get the hang of holding the head and stuff, it feels a bit wierd to start with. I practiced loads, and when DS was born it felt much more natural to just grab him, and point him in the right direction!!

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 10:22

wassup Jem?

tokentotty · 20/06/2007 10:42

Here Jem....have some more asterisks for extra bonus swear words

Sounds like you need 'em love

Babylovesmuffins · 20/06/2007 11:25

Do you want to get it off your chest Jem?? Go on, have a good rant.

Bagpuss - I'll have to start teddy bear practice this evening!! DH will think I have most definitely flipped this time...

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 11:48

we had a reindeer which is now DS's favourite bear.....what a sight hey? Obviously not the oly solution, and not the be all and end all but worth a try...... !!

Hersetta · 20/06/2007 12:19

I used a teddy bear last night in my slingeasy as a trial run - very comfy he looked too.

kiteflying · 20/06/2007 13:09

Afternoon everyone. My baby is hiccupping. So cute.
Tis so frustrating being at work and not being able to talk to him/her.

Have been googling for any noted problems of exposing baby in womb to loud noises as I am singing in a concert tonight and my part of the choir is standing right south of the kettle drums and percussion . Not happy about this at all but don't want to miss out on singing. Apparently it is pretty loud in there for baby anyway with all the blood pumping and huge mummy size heart beat and other such bodily functions (take note katybird!)

Growing - so sorry your little one is ill with the pox. Hope you are not too bored.

TT, congratulations - are you really the first of us to be leaving work? Seems so early and yet so overdue when you stack up all the discomforts of working in the seventh and eighth months. Have you been for your big-nursing-size-boobies bra fitting?

Luckily I don't have any milky smells wafting up at me, but I do have the crustiness in the morning someone else described. Kind of happy to see signs that they might do the job tbh!

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 13:19

Kite - who do you sing with? What are you singing - and where?! I'm very jealous

MrsBadger · 20/06/2007 13:42

Kitey, mine didn't mind the Missa Criolla or Rio Grande at the weekend (and you know how percussion-heavy they are), so I should think you'll be fine. I was more worried about fitting into concert dress...

kiteflying · 20/06/2007 13:47

actually you would not be jealous if I told you what we are singing - standard choir fare (Britten, Parry, and the like) plus a south american piece that involves a rainstorm being simulated by the sounds of clapping and clicking fingers plus loud percussion!

It is a city based choir that rehearses at a church in the city. Last night the Northern line broke down just as I needed to cross the river for rehearsal and LU's advice was to walk across London Bridge...mmmm, yes, because my hips will stand for that won't they.

In truth, I signed up for this season thinking it would be good for bubs to listen to three hundred voices singing Mozart around her. The rainstorm did not really feature in my ideas for her pre-natal music education.

Are you also a singer Growingbagpuss? What voice do you sing?

kiteflying · 20/06/2007 13:48

MrsBadger - another singer! I am a bit relieved to hear it from you...could have saved that time on google (Deepak Chandra lecturing on stress causing cortisol levels in the baby to rise was what I DIDN'T need to hear right now)

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 13:53

Is it Barts?
I used to sing Sop with them when I lived in London.

kiteflying · 20/06/2007 13:57

No, it is St Brides. Also a sop!

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 13:59

I've not heard of them - mind you I only heard of Barts as my aunt sings with them
I do miss singing.

I used to trek up from maidstone every monday, and w/e as well for rehearsals - haven't sung now since moving in with DH, and certainly couldn't do the trip with 2 DC.

MrsBadger · 20/06/2007 14:05

I only just managed to struggle through to the end of this term...
It's Elgar's The Kingdom in December but I'm trying to be realistic re rehearsing 7-9.30pm without falling asleep, so I think I might skip it and rejoin in time for the Easter Messiah (which at least won't be stressful to learn )

Alto though.
