Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

I think we're all going to have some emotional/stressful moments as our handover dates draw near!! Very excited about finishing work though I don't have a replacement as such, and like Conkertree my work is just going to be redistributed amongst colleagues - it's still going to be difficult giving up my clients though... Someone actually suggested a leaving do for me this morning and I very quickly retorted that I wasn't leaving, just going "on leave" Maybe I overreacted a bit...

I'm planning to BF too but haven't bought bottles or steriliser yet. I should really buy a pump for expressing but one of my friends said she'd give me hers as she hadn't been able to BF - she said she'd sterilise it for me first as I think she'd tried to use it a couple of times - do you think that's hygienic?? Not being funny or anything, I just have no idea.

Also, on the Raspberry Leaf thingummy... I've been given Expectancy Tea, which is Raspberry Leaf and something else - does anyone know if it's any good and also when you start taking it? Maybe the tablets are better?

kiteflying · 19/06/2007 16:11

I thought about buying it new for hygiene reasons but apparently they can be sterilised and cleaned thoroughly and if in doubt you can replace the funnel only.

Mrsshuvel · 19/06/2007 16:11

I bought the Raspberry leaf tablets on sat then had a paranoid moment as it said to check if able to take them. I know they do that just to cover their own backs but gonna check with midwife when he comes round next week.

Babylovesmuffins · 19/06/2007 16:16

Yes, I think I'll add that question to my list of things to ask m/w at my 32-week appointment next week! (Problem is I really need to write down my questions as I keep forgetting them...)

jem1969 · 19/06/2007 16:20

MrsShuvel- I want a brown and duck egg bag to go with my Bugaboo too! (and my house too- the amount of duck egg drives DH mad)
Do you think it's a bit late to go to New York on a shopping trip! When I went in March I was too nervous to buy anything. Am sure would save the price of the fare on shopping bargains!

Babylovesmuffins · 19/06/2007 16:20

Mrs S, Blooming Marvellous have this www.bloomingmarvellous.co.uk/product.aspx?CategoryID= m_nightwear&ProductID=12279&language=en-GB which is a 2-pack button nightdress - don't know if you like the colours??

I ordered a 3-pc pyjama set from BM in pale grey and it arrived today at work. Looks great but now I'm wondering if I should have gone for a darker colour IYKWIM??

tokentotty · 19/06/2007 16:21

Ooooh Jem....now I could get serious changing bag envy over that little beaut! Have also debated the microwave steamer (only about £19.99 I think) but should you go Avent or TommeeTippee breast/bottle BLAH BLAH BLAH !!!! Am deffo intending to breastfeed but with some expressing for DH to join in (sh*te, need a pump too AARRGGH!). Man, this is all just too much.

Oh yes H, the car shopping. Have dealt. Gone is the 325 sports convertible (sniff...sniff..) in comes the X5. DH has his mega epidural this Thursday under general anaesthetic so probably have got the car not a minute too soon. Not actually swapped yet but any day. In fact, can guarantee it'll be the first beautifully sunny day with no hint of rain about that we have to collect the new car !

Jem - I have have gone a bit duck egg mad too. My living room room wall currently has various shades splojed all over it waiting for us to decorate.

Babyloves -I like those nighties, can't believe i missed them. I was in blooming marvellous the other week.

TT - I got a starter pack of Dr Browns bottles in Boots. They're the anti colic ones. Someone recomended them to me. Can't offer anything on cars though, i have less clue about them than breast pumps!

SweetyDarling · 19/06/2007 16:27

BabyLoveM, You can even rent expressing machines, so you must be able to sterilise them effectivly.
I've still got to get this bit sorted as well. Not too sure if I really need to buy a bottle steriliser though - some books say yes, others say it's a waste of time. Any advice? I'm certainly not going to sterilise my boobs, so am leaning toward not getting one at this stage.
Is anyone elese starting to smell vaguely milky?

bananabump · 19/06/2007 16:30

Nooooo?

Hersetta · 19/06/2007 16:31

Well I have bought Tommy Tippee bottles but I have a Lindam sterilizer - a gift from MIL. Was going to get a Tommy Tippee microwave sterilizer but not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth the one MIL bought looks rather nice. It does a full load (9 normal bottles or 6 wideneck like the TT bottles that I have) in just 6 mins and has a bottle warmer too.

Ooh sorry about your sports car TT - we traded in our VW Beetle for a rather sensible and boring Ford C-Max (even if it is much faster) - my DH still hates it with a passion.

Latest tube gripe - came in to work earlier on central line and there's me 30 weeks and standing at one end of seating area and a lady who I reckon by the size of her was about 18 weeks standing at the other end. Guess who gets offered a seat and guess who has to stand the whole journey? Arrrrrghhhhhhh.

kiteflying · 19/06/2007 16:38

I am convinced that tube travel is the worst aspect of being pregnant. It is unremittingly awful.

jem1969 · 19/06/2007 16:40

hersetta- you need to move onto the district line- south west way- haven't had to stand more than 2 stops in the last 15 weeks- we must be a polite lot down there - now I'll probably have to stand all the way home...

tokentotty · 19/06/2007 16:44

Oooh - so you can mix brands of bottles and sterilisers ?

OP posts:
jem1969 · 19/06/2007 16:49

Hersetta- A Lindam?? That wasn't even on my radar- it was Tommee Tippee or Advent- now there will be even more confusion! Actually I think I saw it in the Mothercare catalogue (my nightly reading material).

Hersetta · 19/06/2007 16:50

You can with the Lindam one TT - not sure about Advent ot the Tommy Tippee ones. I know the advent one will one fit the advent brest pump.

This is the one I have.

yay - first proper link and it worked !!

Hersetta · 19/06/2007 16:53

Jem - will test your theroy soon _ I have tickets for Wimbledon a week on Saturday !!

tokentotty · 19/06/2007 16:54

Dear God...its the pram conundrum all over again. I can feel my head about to explode !

OP posts:
jem1969 · 19/06/2007 16:56

Ah- can't count a Wimbledon day- too many outsiders! (and the weekends are the time when i'm less likely to get a seat...). Sorry- hope the sun shines for you though

MrsBadger · 19/06/2007 17:30

Hersetta, I'll see you Wimbledon and raise you Henley Royal Regatta
If a heavily pregant woman in a spectacular hat doesn't make a plethora of blazered rahs leap to their brogued feet I shall have something to say about Modern Manners

Hersetta · 19/06/2007 17:36

You win Mrs B - I'm in fact still umming over whether to sell my tickets to a friend as I have ante natal classes from 9.30-12.30 that day and I think it would take me at least 2-2.5 hrs to get to wimbledon on public transport. Don't know whether to sell the tickets or ditch the ante natal class (which I've also paid for. Feel like a bad Mummy for even thinking of itching the class!

kiteflying · 19/06/2007 17:48

I have had these trousers for sale on the For Sale thread for a while. If anyone wants them - let me know:

Business Bump Navy Blue Linen-look trousers - Never Worn sz 12

I bought these on ebay Brand New a few months back as they were sold as 10-12 in size. They were originally bought from Crave in Battersea less than a year ago. They are really a true size 12 and could possibly fit a fourteen, but I kept them until now in case I put on weight towards the end of my pregnancy as they really are a perfect set of trousers for work and very lightweight whilst also being smart.

Overthebump style with two elastic adjusters at the side (so no annoying button marks on your belly) with all the gathering at the back. Regular length but would fit up to 36 inside length if in flat shoes (they were too long for me and I am 32 inside leg).

katybird · 19/06/2007 17:58

Hi everyone, hope you're all feeling ok today. Hurrah, shiny new thread! It's just taken me an hour the read this so I'm giving up on reading the last two weeks of the old thread. Did I miss anything exciting?

Would like to help out Kite but I haven't fit into a size 12 in about ten years .

You're all worrying me with your talk of pumps and sterilisers, I haven't got as far as the cot or the buggy yet. Ah well, saw the GP for my 31-week appt this morning and she said all they need is a drawer to sleep in. Think she was trying to be comforting!

Everything's fine with the bump, he's kicking a lot more and according to the midwife he's really tall. Hope this doesn't mean he'll be a ten-pounder! Not smelling milky yet either.

Complaint of the day is bra discomfort because the baby's bum is perilously close to my boobs (think Uki mentioned the same problem). Also, I had no problems whatsoever with wind when I was on holiday but as soon as I got back to work yesterday I got all gassy again . Either work causes wind or my body waits for moments of maximum embarrassment.

katybird · 19/06/2007 18:50

Killed the thread with tmi methinks, sorry!

myweegirl · 19/06/2007 20:18

hi everyone - i'm just trying to catch up with things too - hope you're all well?

had a hectic few weeks at work - but after this week i've only got 3 weeks left to do -.

on the sterilisers/pumps etc - with DD i was going to breastfeed so didn't buy any bottles or sterilisers etc. bought a small hand held electric pump (as reccommended on the mumsnet TV programme). however, my boobs never produced anything despite repeated attempts and what felt like everyone in the hospital coming along to try and help ...DP had to find a shop and choose bottles/steriliser himself (got the advent ones) before we came home.

despite only needing new mattresses for this baby - i've managed to spend about 200quid on stuff - which all arrived today . one is great big long maternity/nusing pillow - which i'm hoping will help me sleep (got sore hips too). DP will be sent to the spare room to sleep so that i've got lots of space.
