The boob thing is weird - I never had much, but went from a 36A/34B pre pregnancy to a D cup, up to an F when I was BF! I kept going until DD was 19 months and they then deflated to a depressingly minuscule size (didn't buy new bras because I couldn't bear to!!). DP tells me they are slightly larger now but no so you'd really notice...my tummy on the other hand, that's definitely bigger!
Just makes me wonder what the boobs will do later on pregnancy/during feeding as presumably they MUST grow then?!

WeeBean · 05/11/2018 17:39

We're planning on finding out what we're having (if we get that far) but won't be telling anyone else. I remember a friend telling me my local hospital doesn't tell you the sex anymore because they got it wrong and someone sued them!! I'll have to double check that one, we'll have to pay for a private one otherwise and that would depend on price.

MadeInCornwallx3 · 05/11/2018 17:41

I'm another one in the 'wait and see what the 12 week scan shows' club. If we're in the 100's or below I'd imagine we'll go for a Harmony if not offered automatically.

Weird food thing last couple of days - soup! Had some in an Italian on Sat and today had soup for breakfast and have just made up a batch for the week. I can stomach something - it's amazing 😂

Torsz · 05/11/2018 18:02

I'm not sure if I've said this already, but we're planning on booking a private scan on Christmas Eve (if all goes well at our 12 week scan next Thursday) to find out the gender - we want to give them a pink and blue tree decoration and ask them to put the appropriate colour in a box for us to open on Christmas morning ☺️ I just hope it all goes well and we get to do it!!

beardotdo · 05/11/2018 18:05

We won’t be finding out the sex. Didn’t find out with DTs (although they were identical so we knew it’d be two of the same).

I had my booking appointment today. The midwife couldn’t get my blood sample so I have to go back next week for her to try again. Also spoke about pre-natal screening. I don’t know if I want the nuchal measurement doing as even if it came up higher than normal risk I wouldn’t have an amnio and my trust don’t offer the harmony test. I didn’t have it with the DTs either for the same reason.

MadeInCornwallx3 · 05/11/2018 18:13

@Torsz That is so cute! That makes me want to find out!

Such a lovely way to reveal. 🎄

In both my previous pregnancies I've been desperate to know and the only thing I haven't 'done' is have a surprise.

I am not known for my patience though so we will see 😂

WeeBean · 05/11/2018 19:23

@Torsz that's the cutest thing ever! What a special way to find out!

Fabuluce · 05/11/2018 19:37

rollerskaterdata I'd get the scan booked in for the morning - you'll be desperate to tell them so you might as well go armed with a pic!

We didn't find out the sec with my son (I was convinced he was a girl, so much for mother's intuition eh?!) so we're going team yellow here again. Part of me wants to find out purely so I can sort through the boxes of clothes for unisex stuff if it's a girl but I think that's just being fussy. I don't mind what we have, just want a healthy'un if poss.

I've got my Harmony scans booked in for next week and 12 weeks at the Fetal Medicine Centre so I'm looking forward to that plus I have my booking in appt on Thursday. We've gone with Harmony due to my age and doing ivf and I'd rather know sooner than later. I can't remember if I still need to have the NHS 12 week scan if they have the documentation from the private one. The NHS can be funny about private scans. When I had a MMC I had a scan at my clinic which showed no heartbeat then went to EPU a couple of days later which showed the same thing but I still had to wait another week to have another NHS scan to

Fabuluce · 05/11/2018 19:41

Gah - message pinged off in error

....to prove the baby had died as the original scan at the clinic didn't count as it wasn't from an NHS approved clinic. Even though my IVF clinic's technology was obviously leaps and bounds better than the NHS one. Infuriation and bloody upsetting at the time.

Top tip for those having blood tests, drink as much as possible beforehand. Bonus of course is that if you'll be having a scan at the same time you'll already need to have a full bladder. Saying that, don't go overboard with a full bladder as you will invariably be kept waiting - half full is normally good enough! I have a ridiculously tiny bladder so have discovered the hard way!

Bigonesmallone3 · 05/11/2018 19:53

Only just realised we've moved.. haven't been on for a few days.. 8 weeks and feel like crap 🎉

socktastic · 05/11/2018 20:08

Can I be utterly ignorant and ask what the harmony test is. I know this pregnancy will be considered higher risk this time round as I'm 35.

We have our booking in appointment this Friday (How has it taken so long!?) Then if all is well we will book in for a private early scan, just for the reassurance. Had losses in the past so I'm a bit nervous about it, although this one seems sticky so far.

I've just thrown up for the first time too! Only felt slightly nauseous up until now but nausea building for about an hour then mad dash to the loo. Feeling a bit better now though! Wonder if this is the start of it. I'm really worried about how to manage morning sickness with a toddler in tow.

curlypasta · 05/11/2018 20:56

Oh dear the pregnancy temper is here! Blush so angry and irrational! Oh well, only another 32 weeks to go!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 05/11/2018 21:33

@fabuluce Flowers

I’ve had a similar but not identical situation however here’s to my local hospital who are kindly scanning me at 8+6 owing to previous MMC...it was so horrible.

I remain optimistic.

Kescilly · 05/11/2018 22:35

@socktastic the Harmony test is a non-invasive blood test that tells you the chance of your baby having trisomies 13, 18, and 21. It can’t tell you definitively, but I think it gives out less false positives than the NT scan.

Kescilly · 05/11/2018 23:13

I apologise in advance for my random venting!

I’m getting stressed about paperwork. I have been trying to apply for a provisional license so that I can learn to drive here, but I’ll need to send my identity documents in. I’m now worried that they’re going to need them at the twelve week scan and deny me treatment if I don’t have the originals with me. I have a form to fill out but I’m not sure who will ask for it or what else they’ll need to see. Have any of you been asked for your passport at a scan?

If I don’t send off for my license now, I probably won’t be able to several months. I need to reapply for my visa at the end of this year which means I need to send my identity documents for that application. And I don’t know when I’ll get those back.

I just wanted to get moving on the license before I was heavily pregnant. I’m worried about feeling trapped with a newborn and want to have a bit of independence back.

I know this isn’t a normal pregnancy vent, but no one else knows I’m pregnant so I can’t vent to them about the paperwork involved.

Torsz · 06/11/2018 02:45

@Kescilly we haven't had our 12 week scan yet but it's booked in and the only things we've been told to bring are our maternity paperwork from the booking in appointment and a full bladder! I'm pretty certain that means we won't need ID - and we won't have our passports with us!
I say go for it - it's clearly important to you and I think it's great that you want to learn to drive before baby comes ☺️

Fabuluce · 06/11/2018 06:09

paulhollywoodssexgut that's a result, how kind of them. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for you although with all the dry heaving you're doing that sounds like a good enough reason to be cautiously optimistic to me 👍🏼 good luck!

Kescilly · 06/11/2018 07:06

Thanks @Torsz! The midwife is actually the one who gave me a form to fill out about all my immigration details for the hospital, so it might be different here.

stellarfox · 06/11/2018 07:10

@Kescilly I would ring the hospital to check. I won’t be taking mine but it may be different for you so better to find out from them directly or it might stress you out on the day

mindthechaos · 06/11/2018 07:42

Morning, can I just check im correct - I think my eldest has chicken pox- am I ok to be around her as I’ve already had them?

Kescilly · 06/11/2018 07:44

I'm due to see the screening coordinator for other tests so I wonder if she can check everything instead. I could see if she knows whether they need to check each time or if she can okay me in their systems. Hopefully it's a one time thing, I don't want to choose between a 20 week scan or the right to remain in the country!

toasterstrudle · 06/11/2018 08:04

@mindthechaos yes, your grand. I'm a teacher so checked last time. My son also had hand foot and mouth a few weeks ago which wasn't ideal but gp said should be grand, just monitor temperature. Hope it passes soon for your wee one!

mindthechaos · 06/11/2018 08:24

toasterstrudle perfect! Thank you, she doesn’t have it too bad at the moment so hopefully it will pass quickly. I’ve had so much time off work lately because off constant sickness so this is the worst timing really

Am trying so hard to be healthy this pregnancy as I truly believe it makes a big difference but am in the train feeling queasy and the only thing I think I could handle is an almond croissant.

Or five.
