Private scan booked for thursday, really nervous. I hope they can see something eith it being external. Willbe 8 weeks and 4 days. I’m def finding out what we are having, far too inpatient for that!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 05/11/2018 11:38

I’ll be finding out the sex as I did with the other two as I’ve basically got the patience of a toddler :)

fee1234 · 05/11/2018 11:43

Anyone planning on having the Harmony test? I can't decide.. there is an appointment available this weekend if I was to go ahead with it. Just feel £400 is a lot of money.

Keep saying to myself, 'what would I do if it came back positive' but I don't know the answer to that either.

toomanyflatwhites · 05/11/2018 11:45

I didn't find out the sex with my first and I was adamant that I NEVER would - though DP really wanted to - but actually think I want to know this time! I am just scared to say it out loud because I won't be able to take it back once I tell DP and worried I might regret it. Would want to not tell anyone though...all babies in my side of family have been surprises and would be weird for them to know, but DPs family would want to know. They are in different countries...am I crazy? it could work, couldn't it??!!

annihall · 05/11/2018 11:53

I want to find out the sex as soon as I can, and my husband definitely wont be patient enough as he's really hoping for a girl :)
Obviously we're happy with either as long as it's healthy but can't wait to find out, feels like you can prepare for it better somehow

toomanyflatwhites · 05/11/2018 12:26

@fee1234 would that be at fetal medicine centre? We did it there last time and planning to do it again. I'm 40 (was 38 last time) so nervous about how high my risk is, though interestingly results came back almost identical on the nhs version we had at 12 weeks (though that is apparently less accurate).
As well as having the test results they were also amazing for the scans (you have them there at 10 and 12 weeks) and spent absolutely ages checking everything. Compared to the nhs scan we felt really reassured as could ask them to check things not on the usual list (DP had concerns about club foot for family reasons, I was paranoid about cleft palate) and they were happy to do so in detail. In fact I need to call them today!

sk17 · 05/11/2018 12:39

Hey all,

Just went to check the other thread and realised everyone's moved here Sad!

So hi Smile - I have yet to catch up on this thread.

9 weeks 3 days today and basically feel like death inside. I wake up everyday contemplating if I should go into work today or not because I just wanna sleep all day long. Got an exam tomorrow which I've struggled to study for Sad

But hope everyone else is doing well.

Blondcat · 05/11/2018 12:43

We are planning to have the NHS 12 week scan then see what the risk is if high (which may be as I'm 37) then do harmony at that point of not won't bother.

We want to find out the sex as think it will make it more real and exciting knowing but not sure if we will tell anyone else haven't decided.

rollerskaterdata · 05/11/2018 12:45

@coastergirl I hope your next scan goes well and you get to see baby and a heartbeat x

@Napssavelives fx for your upcoming scan x

We won't be finding out this time round as we did with DS and would love a surprise this time. At least that's the plan, I may crack!

Quick what would you do question for everyone: we have a big family gathering next weekend and we'd love to announce then because 1) I should be just over 12 weeks by my last scan (11+6 by my LMP) and 2) I'm sick of keeping it a secret! I had my booking in appt with my midwife end of last week and haven't received my NHS scan date in the post yet. I have no idea when it's going to be or how far along I'll be when I have it, although it's likely to be after this family gathering as by my LMP I'll be 12 weeks the week following the gathering. I've already called the scan department and I'm not on the system yet. We're thinking of booking a private scan the morning of the gathering so we can announce (should be around 12+2), although I could end up having my actual 12 week scan a few days after that, assuming they even book me in for my 12th week. I just can't imagine keeping it a secret at the gathering when I'll be in my twelfth week and possibly days away from my scan! Would you ladies book one, or wait and keep schtum? I need to make a decision soon as the clinic get booked up really quickly x

stellarfox · 05/11/2018 12:55

Hello I’m 9 + 5 today but I am hardly having any symptoms. I had a scan at 8 weeks and things looked fine but I’m a bit worried! I’ve had a slightly off feeling and I had a couple of days where I felt a little bit sick and I have had a few headaches and felt sick with those but apart from feeling tired that is it! Has anyone else not had many symptoms?

Re the sex I’d love to find out but my partner doesn’t want to so I think we probably won’t as I won’t be able to keep a secret!

JustMe18 · 05/11/2018 12:57

I'm 9 + 6 and all being well my baby will be here on June 4th 2019!!

Congratulations everyone Flowers

hellotoyellow · 05/11/2018 13:00

@fee1234 @toomanyflatwhites I'm all booked in at the fetal medicine centre - booked as soon as I'd had my viability scan on Friday (previous ectopic so more scans). I think we're pretty convinced we'd want to know as early as possible if there is anything.

@Napssavelives good luck at your scan!

@rollerskaterdata having already told too many people - i'd have the private scan and then go from there. It's so hard not to tell if you're not completely trying to keep it a secret.

Peanut1980 · 05/11/2018 13:00

@stellarfox im with you on the lack of symptoms. With my son my boobs were so painful I cried with each step slightly making them jiggle but this time... nothing! I too have had headaches and felt sick but I’ve put it down to the headaches. Those headaches are few and far between though. I’m 7 weeks tomorrow so a couple of weeks behind you x

fee1234 · 05/11/2018 13:07

@hellotoyellow @toomanyflatwhites I'm up in Scotland so it would be done at my local ABC4D, comes with scan too.

I'm classed as 'low risk', however there are a couple of chromosomal issues on my partners side affecting both of his aunties (his mothers sisters), but his mother isn't affected. I've been with him for 6 years and only found this out a few months ago.

Midwife has already asked me to find out what exactly they have - I think it's related to dwarfism - but we haven't told his family we are expecting yet and I think it's a bit of a sensitive issue for them.

hexagon01 · 05/11/2018 13:16

Hi @stellarfox, I’m my last pregnancy my symptoms dropped off at about that point and all was fine :)

I will be finding out the sex as I’m impatient. Probably another boy, they all are in my boyfriend’s family!

Mummytomollyandbean · 05/11/2018 14:49

I'm not having the harmony test but am having a cvs test as my husband has a genetic condition which isn't tested as part of the harmony test. Will definitely find out the sex, I'm to impatient to wait

stellarfox · 05/11/2018 15:05

Thanks @Peanut1980 @hexagon01 and @Torsz I’m glad I’m not alone in a lack of symptoms! Actually feeling really tired now I could have a nap 😴

Re harmony test it is very expensive so I was going to do the same as @Blondcat. If the nhs tests come up with anything risky then I think we will do it but definitely cannot do it before pay day!

Torsz · 05/11/2018 15:10

I'm the same - can't afford/justify a harmony test unless we come up high risk, in which case we will seriously consider it!

Littleray84 · 05/11/2018 15:13

@Stellarfox my midwife told me today that if your result is high risk from the 12 week scan/ bloods the nhs then perform the harmony test prior to an amino. I don't know if that's just my area or accross the UK?

toomanyflatwhites · 05/11/2018 16:09

@stellarfox @Peanut1980 @hexagon01 @Torsz I seem to be missing the symptoms I had with DD as well - not an ounce of boob growth this time around, it seems so unfair!! Have barely been nauseous either and mostly it's been exhaustion that's the problem. Because I've been going to bed 2 hours earlier than usual on some days I have felt less exhausted and started to worry that it means something has gone wrong.
Mind you, as of this weekend I have COMPLETELY lost my patience and was absolutely stabby with anyone in my general vicinity (we were visiting my family, which doesn't help 🤪). Can't believe nobody figured it out, I was just losing the plot every 5 minutes, especially if anyone prevented me from eating!!!

Peanut1980 · 05/11/2018 16:33

@toomanyflatwhites 🤣🤣🤣 oh I seem to have gained some cranky pants too 🙈

Torsz · 05/11/2018 16:37

@toomanyflatwhites haha that really made me laugh!! My boobs have actually grown quite significantly but that happened in the early weeks so no change there recently...I'm actually taking that as a really good sign as I had a breast augmentation 6 years ago so wasn't sure if it would impact my ability to breastfeed - apparently them growing is a really good sign!

I'm not noticeable crankier, but I am ready to use this as an excuse when being my normal moody self 😂😂😂
