@Torsz I was like that last time! Desperate to tell people and then when it came to it I didn't really want to!!
We haven't told anyone (officially - though I have told 4 of my friends 🤣) and at the weekend we told my parents about wedding plans and DP was sat making crazy faces at me because he wanted to tell them about the pregnancy instead. But we agreed not until we'd had a scan so not sure why he thought I was going to tell them!!

Torsz · 20/11/2018 16:48

I just got home to the results of my combined test - much sooner than expected as our scan was only Thursday! We got 1 in 15000 for downs and 1 in 124000 for the others which I'm assuming is pretty good!!
Also came home to a congratulations card and jar of sweets from my sister which was a lovely surprise ☺️

Torsz · 20/11/2018 16:58

@toomanyflatwhites that's hilarious that he was the one wanting to tell!! It really was incredibly announcing it to my family as they know we've been trying for so long and were about to start ivf...but now it's like I'm all done and nobody else needs to know 😂

toomanyflatwhites · 20/11/2018 17:07

@Torsz he was actually really angry with me - I was so confused, I clearly can't read his mind/facial expressions and had no idea that's what he thought I was going to tell them! He's been dying to tell his family since we found out and tbh we could tell his and not mine as they don't speak the same language ;) but as it turns out haven't told either family yet. Amazing news on your test results!

Those who have had the harmony test (or other scan) at 10ish weeks, can/do they check nuchal fold then? I can't remember from last time if you get an indication at that appointment if everything looks ok.

curlypasta · 20/11/2018 17:29

Oh I’m excited! Last night I slept all the way through, 9-6 without needing a wee, I didn’t feel nauseous til 2 hours after I woke up, I’m not deathly tired today AND I know this is mad, but it is my 3rd, I felt a very satisfying flip flop earlier! It was only a little flutter but was unmistakable. So I’m having a luverly day Blush I’m 10 weeks tomoro and still off work so I feel I need to be optimistic wherever I can be!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 20/11/2018 17:40

Ooh @Torsz yay on the test results!

@BeautifulBlue I did the same, nuchal translucency and bloods, said if bad get call in about 3 days, a week - 10 days if all good.

Really hoping all is well! NT was 1.2 which I believe is good so depends on bloods.

JBCG · 20/11/2018 18:37

Lovely scan! Happy to hear good news today ☺️

I just had a wax - I read that it was safe in pg but may hurt more .. well that is definitely true! It was excruciating compared to normal! My wax lady actually guessed I was pg because she could see I was in so much pain compared to normal haha. Sorry if slightly TMI but I thought it best to warn you all that this may happen!

My nausea seems to be hitting me in the evenings still. I haven't managed to keep any dinner down for the last week. But I'm thankful that I seem to feel fine up until about 6pm so at least I'm able to function somewhat normally at work!

Counting down the days til my scan on Thursday. I'm really nervous but also tying to convince myself that the sore boobs and incessant nausea must be good signs!

Torsz · 20/11/2018 19:05

Thank you all!

@JBCG that sounds horrific!! Looks like I won't be getting a wax in the next few months 😂

stellarfox · 20/11/2018 19:51

@Torsz great stats!

My 12 week scan is thurs and I’m getting very nervous 😩 We did see baby at 8+1 but you just don’t know! I’ve not had many symptoms the whole time but I’ve got light cramping (hopefully just uterus growing), sore back and tiredness so hope that’s a good sign. At least it’s in the morning on Thursday as I don’t think I’d be able to concentrate on work if it was an afternoon appointment!

Siannybobs · 20/11/2018 19:51

Hi everyone! I'm new! Doctors estimated due date is 22nd June but I was rather a late ovulator so it may be later than that. I have my first midwifes appointment tomorrow afternoon, I have to go on my own as my husband has a cold and my mum (who I haven't told yet) has shingles.

My sister knows :)
Awful nausea so the lady I sit next to at work knows what's going on.
And if you see my previous thread some friends I went on holiday with outed me in a restaurant causing an emotional outburst which I'm well over Blush

I'm very excited and nervous and looking forward to asking to go to part time come June 2020 Grin

hellotoyellow · 20/11/2018 22:01

@Torsz congratulations on the test results!
@toomanyflatwhites no mention of nuchal thickness, just simple measurements. Showed me the spine and things though. It was all pretty efficient, left half an hour after my appointment time even though I was seen five mins late!

So many of my friends know because it's impossible to hide as most people knew about my previous ectopic, and I look like a nauseous exhausted mess. Holding off telling families until after genetic results though as both sides would find a termination difficult to cope with - we are also far closer to our London 'framily' than our families who live quite far away.

hexagon01 · 21/11/2018 07:02

Welcome @siannybobs! Going part time is the best, I love my 3 day week!

@curlypasta I’m 10 weeks tomorrow and I swear I felt fluttering yesterday too!! Really felt like early movements with my son. Seems waaaaay too early though?! And this is only my second. Who knows! Glad you’re feeling better, hope it continues.

LauralovesLuke · 21/11/2018 07:28

On the subject of going back to work - does anyone know - if I take unpaid extended maternity leave, can I work self-employed during that time??

MadeInCornwallx3 · 21/11/2018 09:23

@LauralovesLuke Hi! 👋🏻

I don't think you can unfortunately. You get 10 KIT days which you can work with your employer (not sure if you can use these as self employed) I believe and any more than that then the maternity pay stops. After the 39 weeks when you're unpaid though I'm not sure? Probably you can then? Depends how your employer feels as you will still be accruing holiday pay etc for the full year.

I went self employed in August before falling pregnant in September so it's going to be completely different for me this time, I have to do all the HR myself haha.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 21/11/2018 09:25

Tell me about it @madeimcornwallx3

I’m completely allergic to admin too.

[shudder]

JBCG · 21/11/2018 10:34

It seems today my nausea has decided that it doesn't want to just appear in the evenings and has hit me full force this morning! 3 people at work have asked me if I’m okay today as I look very unwell 😂 might need to start wearing make up to work again to give me some colour!!

One of my colleagues does know and bless her she snuck some ginger biscuits into my handbag earlier! Hoping they help otherwise I may need to retire to my bed for the rest of today!

Why did I decide now was a good time to move house?! I cannot face the thought of packing at all and I'm moving in 10 days 🤦🏻‍♀️

JBCG · 21/11/2018 10:38

Oh I'm also supposed to have a dentist appointment today during my lunch but I've had to cancel it because the thought of having someone poking around my mouth while I'm trying this hard not to be sick was too much! They'll charge me to cancel it but I'd prefer to pay than accidentally be sick!

Today is not a good day!

Hope everyone else is having a better day than me today!!

annihall · 21/11/2018 11:11

@JBCG I feel your pain. I'm feeling so awful today but forced myself to go to work after already being off yesterday. Arrived at the office about an hour ago just to realise that everyone's in meetings in London all day and I'm sitting here all alone. Could have stayed at home and worked from there... instead I'm now running to the bathroom every 30 minutes and wonder how to manage the drive home later 🙈

sk17 · 21/11/2018 12:19

Hi all

I too have my first scan on the 26th. Desperate for the days to go by.

Lovely scan pictures 😋 Making me impatient for mine

R4ch4el · 21/11/2018 13:04

Really freaking myself out today! I’ve had some fairly light brown spotting for the last couple of days, and since my nausea has gradually disappeared over the last few weeks I don’t have that to reassure me (I should just be happy I’m not feeling sick really 😂). I’m somewhere around 11 weeks. Anyone else still getting spotting at this point?

Reastie · 21/11/2018 13:06

JBCG don’t envy you moving! We moved last time 2 months before dd was born but I definitely preferred it that way than first trimester as I was so big I logistically couldn’t do much.

oh no anni, hope you get home ok, that’s so annoying.

Was going to book private scan but local private hospital only do one morning a week for pg scan so now doubting it as dh wanted one when he wasn’t working to come too. I’m still convinced I’ve had a mmc but I’m trying to tell myself it’s just a usual worry but until I see that hb I won’t think it’s there. Rubbish day for nausea here too, when will it end Confused

R4ch4el · 21/11/2018 13:07

@LauralovesLuke I work in HR. You might be able to do some self-employed work whilst you are on mat leave. I’d suggest having a look at your employment contract/policies to see if there is anything that prohibits you from taking another job/working for yourself generally. I think if you are allowed to work for yourself alongside your employment currently, this shouldn’t be any different when you are on mat leave.

Reastie · 21/11/2018 13:08

Xposted Rachel have you got a scan soon? I’d ring mws see if they can get you in for an urgent scan to reassure you. Have you had spotting already? Symptoms definitely go up and down so just that they have been a bit better the last few days could just be it’s getting better now you’re 11 weeks or that you’ll feel terrible tomorrow.

R4ch4el · 21/11/2018 13:13

Thanks @Reastie for the reassurance. I have my scan on Sunday so I think I’m going to try to hold out until then so my husband will be with me, too scared to go on my own beforehand and he won’t be able to get out of work. I had a bit of spotting at around 7 weeks so had a scan then and everything was fine so hoping it’s just the same. It’s so easy to panic and think the worst though isn’t it!

Reastie · 21/11/2018 13:21

Your current spotting is a month after your last and I think some people have spotting around when their periods would have been I think.
