Sorry I haven’t been on for so long and now I am, I’m just going to moan! I feel really emotional tonight, not entirely sure why, but DPs being a knob and DS has been ill for over a week including his first birthday. I’m feeling rubbish too, crAp cold and my throat is absolutely killing me. Just got in from a much needed a d highest overdue evening at the cinema and just having a massive cry holding DS while he sleeps. No real reason for the essay other than to vent to be honest!

Glad everyone’s scans are going well and some of the nausea seems to be subsiding! Second trimester here we come! Slowly but surely! Xx

JBCG · 20/11/2018 08:14

@Kimbishop86 hope you're feeling better this morning? Damn emotions and hormones keep catching me out too!

Kimbishop86 · 20/11/2018 09:54

Thanks @JBCG I am feeling better! DS has had a bit of a lay in which means I have too and DP has gone to work! So here’s to a better day!! X

toomanyflatwhites · 20/11/2018 09:58

Oh @Kimbishop86 it sucks when the littlies are poorly and the DPs are knobs (why do the two things so often go together??). I was dealing with major knobbage this weekend from mine, he's been a pain for a few weeks but I was about ready to put him out with he bins by the end of the weekend (having been to officially register our intention to marry on Friday, hahahahaha!!!)

Is anyone else having trouble sleeping again/still? I can blame DD usually but she seems to be slightly improving, but I have been awake for an hour or two each night for much of the past week. Super annoying as she is then waking me as well, so between the 2 things I'm really missing out on sleep! I was awake at 3.30 this morning and barely slept again after that as she woke up 4.30-5.30 (with a really grim upset stomach nappy 🤢) and then DPs alarm went at 6. Gahh!!!

Bigonesmallone3 · 20/11/2018 10:39

I was on the other day being a knob about how I'd had a really good day and I think I'm over the worst 😭 I was wrong, sickness worse than ever, shattered, Iv got a bit of appetite back.. 10 weeks today and looking for that light at the end of the tunnel.. anyone who was feeling dreadful feel like a new woman yet?

sk17 · 20/11/2018 10:53

I'm with you on that one @Bigonesmallone3

Thought I was doing great for a few days with little nausea but then it hit me like a truck today in the morning. I just want a break from being sick 😢

11+4 today and really just patiently waiting for 2nd Tri.

My manager scared me today and said she cant give me false hope as she was sick ALL throughout both her pregnancies. I don't think I can deal with 9 months of feeling absolutely rotten

Ahhhh @Kimbishop86 we really feel your pain 😔

fee1234 · 20/11/2018 11:12

I'm with everyone on the nausea, I'm 12+1 and it's still as strong. And I keep getting more and more spots on my back 😩 was so self conscious of how I look just now I refused to go in the pool at the hotel we stayed at last night.

I'm also in that weird place between looking pregnant and just like I've gained a lot of weight.

Reastie · 20/11/2018 11:46

So sorry for those who are suffering, I’ll join the club. Just to say if you have a day where you feel better, be careful not to overdo it as that can make the nausea etc come back too.

Toomanyflatwhites I remember last pg I had insomnia throughout, it was just another of the joyful symptoms of pg for me Hmm . You have my sympathies as everything is harder with rubbish sleep.

Got mw booking in apt late next week all set up. They are coming to my house to do it because I feel too rubbish to leave home Blush . It happened last time too.

Fee I bet no one would notice the spots and it’d just be you feeling self conscious, plus once you’re in the water and swimming you’d be mainly under the water anyway —unless you’re like me and do a weird breast stroke doggy paddle cross stroke with head and shoulders above water at all times—

Sk ignore your manager as most people it doesn’t last all the way through. For me last time it did but the first 20 weeks are always the most intense, even if it continues it won’t be as dire as in the first 20 weeks.

Kim hope you’re feeling ok this morning.

Been on hold for half an hour to citizens advice about maternity leave stuff as looks like I won’t qualify for statutory maternity leave if I’m off ill throughout pg (which happened last time)

MadeInCornwallx3 · 20/11/2018 12:11

Hi all!

Sorry to hear everyone is feeling crappy (I'm in the same boat!).

Some good news here... I just had my dating scan - all looks well, nuchal of 1.2 and giving me a due date of June 7th.

Little bean was super active, moving all over the place, waving arms and legs. She showed me the brain and said all the other organs looked good too. So relieved. Now just the wait for the combined results 😬

annihall · 20/11/2018 12:44

So happy for you @MadeInCornwallx3, that's a fab scan pic :) x

fee1234 · 20/11/2018 12:44

@MadeInCornwallx3 what a beautiful scan picture and great to hear all is looking well 😊

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 20/11/2018 13:13

That’s a great scan pic @madeincornwallx3

Weird day today; I feel this sense of foreboding and impatience, like I am willing the next 8 days until my scan to vanish (and one of those is my birthday lol).

I feel normal...and I think that’s the problem. I know logically the common reason nausea abates around week 12 is because the yolk sac has gone so it’s a proper embryo getting supplied by the umbilical cord instead (biologists - is this right?) meaning no more sickness allegedly.

But even after a successful 9w scan with a good heartbeat I’m illogically scared it’s gone. Probably to do with a previous m/c at 10w (I am 10+5 now) but we know more now about this one then we did with that one then.

Ach, just venting. I need the 28 Nov to hurry up.

fee1234 · 20/11/2018 13:22

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut I'll join you in wishing away the days. My scan is on the 26th which seems to be taking ages to come around

Reastie · 20/11/2018 13:59

Paul Hollywood I had no idea that’s why sickness improved at 12 weeks, that’s fascinating. When I had dd I remember my pg notes said her placenta was very large and by coincidence there was a radio 4 programme soon after about Hyperemesis which said they have studies showing a correlation between a large placenta and increase in pg nausea/vomiting, something to do with more hormones to sustain a larger placenta or something but I might have got the details at the end there a bit wrong. Certainly gave me a reason to feel justified that my horrible sicky pg was actually horrid and sicky.

I’m having a different food every day that I can eat nothing but for that day. It’s weird and frustrating as I never know which food I’ll manage next.

toomanyflatwhites · 20/11/2018 14:12

I'll join @fee1234 in wishing for 26th as that's my scan date - and it will be our first one!! Feel like one of the only ones on this thread who haven't had any scans yet! Am so worried if there is actually anything in there and if so is everything ok...wish they'd booked me in for Friday as I asked for not Monday (it's a private one), that's going to be a loooooooong weekend....

Mrsssmith11 · 20/11/2018 14:50

Hello

Just checking in, I haven't posted in a while. 11+4 today, I've got my first scan tomorrow at 10.40 so excited, but also so nervous. Although I still feel absolutely wretched so I am sure all will be fine.

Told my dad and step mum not the weekend just past, the one before. They are thrilled. Then told my mum on Friday, she's also thrilled but told her neighbours, who are also my friends which was really unfair. I'm really annoyed at her, that's my news to share and I told her specifically not to say anything because I know she can't keep a secret. This is why I didn't tell her until after 12 weeks last time.

MadeInCornwallx3 · 20/11/2018 15:21

@Mrsssmith11 Totally understand about the telling people thing - my mum 'accidentally' told my sister which I wanted to do. She also can't keep a secret!

I know now I've had dating scan I should be able to tell people but I think I've got really used to keeping it a secret, it's odd. Our best friends/ close family know though.

Def true about the yolk sack and sickness, the sonographer pointed it out to me this morning and said 'that's why you feel so ill', she said it should disappear over the next week ish.

I hope so! I'm ready to like food again - it's my only vice, is it too much to ask!! 😂

fee1234 · 20/11/2018 15:50

@Mrsssmith11 that's so annoying! Similar thing happened to me, I told my mum when I was only about 6 weeks and she told my dad and sister when I just wanted her to know. Told my boyfriends family at the weekend and his mum has asked for a scan pic to take and show her friends! I said no and to wait another couple of weeks but I'm pretty sure she will have told them anyway.

BeautifulBlue · 20/11/2018 15:58

Also had my 12 week scan today, estimated due date is 31st March so I’m a little further than I thought at 12+4! All is looking healthy Smile good luck to all those with scans coming up. & sympathy with those with nausea - I still have it to. & I am exhausted!! Could have something to do with my 16 month old to though!! Hope you’re all doing well...

June 2019 - thread 3
BeautifulBlue · 20/11/2018 15:58

Sorry 31st May not March!!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 20/11/2018 16:05

Congratulations @BeautifulBlue ! I'm glad it went well!

Did you have the combined test too?

WeeBean · 20/11/2018 16:10

9 weeks 5 days today and into my second week of being signed off work. The doctor gave my cyclizine, it seems to have helped slightly with the nausea (I get a few hours break from it in the afternoon) but I'm still throwing up 3/4/5 times a day. Work are understanding about it, I was going to have to tell them early anyway due to the nature of job but they're very accommodating when it comes to pregnancy.

We had a private scan on the 9th at 8 weeks and all was good, saw my GP the same day but still waiting for my referral to the hospital and scan date coming through, hope it doesn't take too long!

We've told our parents and siblings and a couple of friends, can't wait to tell everyone else! (All being well, still nervous despite the good 8 week scan)

Torsz · 20/11/2018 16:15

@MadeInCornwallx3 I'm exactly the same - I've been so desperate to tell people for weeks, but now we've had the scan and I actually can, I sort of don't want to!

We told my family Sunday which was lovely and we're telling the in laws on Friday, but I'm seeing a group of friends tomorrow and was really excited about telling them, and have now decided I don't want to 😂

hellotoyellow · 20/11/2018 16:28

Congratulations to everyone who's had scans! Really nice isn't it.

@PaulHollywoodssexgut that was my understanding too.

I had my Harmony and (another) viability scan today and everything looked normal. Now really quite excited. EDD 12 June! The nausea is no longer constant too and for the last 24 hours I've been feeling like eating meat again, so that's really amazing. Even if it comes with a bit of insomnia - you have my sympathy @toomanyflatwhites.

I have my booking in appointment in a couple of weeks and it's a whole afternoon affair which includes bloods and scan, and is apparently unmoveable so I'm going to have to tell my line manager at least and come up with some convincing excuse as to why I can't make an afternoon of meetings and have to leave the morning one early to cross town. I think they might have partially guessed as my boobs have doubled in size and I have been noticeably knackered for weeks... I'm just really worried about work taking me off things, so wanted to keep it quiet for as long as possible.

BeautifulBlue · 20/11/2018 16:31

Yes I did @MadeInCornwallx3 just a quick blood test. They told me if all was well id receive a letter in (up to) 2 weeks, if I was high risk I would get a phone call in the next 3 days x
