I went to a bit of a rough secondary school and when I was in Year 11 there were a few girls in my year who were pregnant and who were DELIBERATELY smoking so that they would have smaller babies that were "easier to push out" !!!! How bad is that !!!

Reastie · 19/11/2018 07:31

JBCG well done on quitting, it must be such a tough time to quit when you feel so awful already with first trimester stuff. Re your dh I can just imagine how ill the smell makes you feel in bed, I don’t think I could cope with it!

Still plodding on here, still feeling rubbish. Nearing 9 weeks. A day closer to second trimester.

Reastie · 19/11/2018 07:31

Laura Shock that is worrying

fee1234 · 19/11/2018 07:38

@JBCG well done on quitting it must have been so hard.

I'm 12 weeks today! Can't believe it.. my scan isn't until next Monday because we are away for my partners 30th just now. Told his family last night and they are delighted.

LivingOnAPear · 19/11/2018 08:04

I just got my nipt results back this morning and it’s all fine. I’m so relieved. And I’m having a girl. And I don’t feel sick this morning. Smile. Just got to get to the 12 week scan on Friday and find out if the subchorionic haematoma is gone.

MauisLeftNipple · 19/11/2018 08:33

Just a quick check in from me. Sorry I haven't been on much but I'm still feeling absolutely vile despite now taking 2 medications (prochlorperazine and cyclizine). Not puking as much though so weight seems to be stable.

We've now told all in laws. Haven't told my parents/family yet as they're all overseas. I've told a few friends. Tbh I don't really mind who knows, as I feel so awful and lonely that it's a relief to be honest with people.

JBCG · 19/11/2018 08:42

Thanks all - I'll just keep my fingers crossed DP stops soon!

Congratulations @LivingOnAPear! x

Good luck to all those having scans / tests this week x

annihall · 19/11/2018 08:44

@LivingOnAPear that's great news, really happy for you!

I'm just about to have my scan, and I'm getting really nervous now. I know I should be excited and I had a good early scan at 6+4 (10+5 today) but somehow I'm worried there won't be anything there anymore. Even though I don't have any reason to worry, no bleeding, still nauseous and sore boobs but somehow it feels unreal...

@LivingOnAPear ahh congrats!! Amazing news x

annihall · 19/11/2018 10:31

Just had my scan, dated me at exactly 11 weeks so need to go back next week for the screening test because it would be too early today. But looking all good so far, even though the picture didn't come out the best because baby was moving about too much 😂 feeling relieved though that there was something there :)

SassehMonsta · 19/11/2018 10:37

Maui - that's exactly how I feel this time. I want to be able to talk about it with people so I'm not constantly "oh yes Im fine" when really I am trying not to vomit over them. So we are telling anyone we come across!

Scan on Friday, excited! DH not bothered about the scans so going alone :)

SassehMonsta · 19/11/2018 10:38

Oh, also copy and pasting this from HG thread, as this is today:

Hormones suck. The vomiting sucks. The nausea sucks the most. The need to eat but not wanting to sucks a lot.

Currently at work. Been sick twice this morning before meds o'clock and been sick once again at work - can't concentrate but can't really go home either. Last night was my first "public bathroom" vomit, out at a bowling alley. Woman in there probably thought I was drunk at 6pm.

I'm very grumpy, sad and depressed today. I thought things were getting better/easier, but I think it's just the hormones ebbing and flowing. Fuck you hormones.

JBCG · 19/11/2018 10:38

So happy for you @annihall and your little wriggly bean! x

toasterstrudle · 19/11/2018 12:44

Lovely scan @annihall !

MauisLeftNipple · 19/11/2018 13:04

Hugs Sasseh

Fuck the hormones!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 19/11/2018 13:30

Oh @SassehMonsta I'm so sorry that sounds awful. I have nausea and have been sick a fair few times but nothing like that. I really hope that it starts to improve for you now you're at 12 weeks.

@annihall what a lovely pic, and you get to go back, which is kind of good, extra peeks.

I have my scan tomorrow also - eek! I'll be 11+2 so not sure if they will be able to do the combined testing or not, we will see!

annihall · 19/11/2018 14:06

Thank you @JBCG @toasterstrudle @MadeInCornwallx3 :)
They said today that you can do the screening test from 11+2 and the baby needs to be at least 45mm big. I was 11+0 and 42mm so going back next week but quite looking forward to my additional scan ;)

MadeInCornwallx3 · 19/11/2018 14:08

@annihall Oooh, I could be borderline then. I hope that doesn't affect the accuracy 😬

toomanyflatwhites · 19/11/2018 15:50

Sorry to those of you still having a shite time with the nausea and puking and yay for the scans!
I had an utterly terrible weekend of almost non-stop bickering with DP because he was being a dick. Am sure it's not my hormones, it was actually him at fault so that was super fun!! Also DDs sleep issues continue and we don't see eye to eye on the solution, but it's me she wants during the night so that's all fun and games!!
Anyway in totally first world problems territory, I was all excited as this weekend I tried to go back to my beloved coffee and found that I actually could stomach a decaf latte, yay! So did that Saturday and Sunday, but had one at lunchtime today and have got burning in the back of my throat and stomach feels decidedly not-right (though both things are happening a lot, so not sure if it's the coffee). So I don't think I'm ready to hit the lava again just yet, wahhh!! 10 weeks tomorrow, and a week today until my first scan and harmony test. Can't wait/bricking it!

stellarfox · 19/11/2018 17:00

Lovely scan @annihall.

I’ve been feeling a bit more tender in my uterus area like it’s a bit heavy so trying to take it easy! Scan is thurs morning so not long now.

I’ve been really enjoying the podcast Happy Mum Happy Baby - it’s lots of interviews with various celebrity mums about becoming a mum!

fee1234 · 19/11/2018 17:51

@stellarfox I read the book happy mum happy baby, it was really good. I like that it really emphasises that you can read all the books in the world but there is no book for 'your' baby!

toasterstrudle · 19/11/2018 19:45

Totally second Happy Mum Happy Baby!! Love the book and podcasts.

Steel yourself for the episode with Elle Wright (Feathering the Empty Nest) and Dear Orla's mum though. A hard listen when pregnant. Or out in public. Very worthwhile and I'm so glad they're talking about such a difficult subject and sharing their heart wrenching stories, but just one to warn you - you might want to save it for once your baby is safely here. Or at least make sure you have company for during/after!

stellarfox · 19/11/2018 19:50

I definitely will get the book and thanks for the warning @toasterstrudle. They have all been pretty positive stories so far where I’m up to, but I might avoid those ones whilst pregnant! It’s got me quite interested in hypnobirthing so going to read up on that!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 19/11/2018 20:17

May I recommend the Alex Jones (the One Show) episode of HMHB as she is utterly candid about the realities of becoming a new mum; she’s a lovely woman but doesn’t mince her words, it resonated a lot with me.

It’s not part of the suite of “miserable mummy” (“I’m so above all this all my baby does is poo”/unmumsy mum rubbish) stuff out there that was on trend a few years ago. It’s just an honest, wise and relatable account of being a new mum.

Check out the Emma Willis one too, it’s great.
