12 week scan date came through today. 4th of December, just over 2 weeks away. Excited and nervous!

jacquejacque · 17/11/2018 10:04

@Napssavelives same as me!

coastergirl · 17/11/2018 10:06

Here is my photo from the rescan this morning. 7+3/4 with a strong heartbeat. My little boy said it's a dinosaur...then a dolphin. I feel he may be disappointed with the truth.

Got my 12 week scan date through for 14th December, I'll be 12 and a half weeks ish by then. We've got a private early scan booked in for tomorrow which I'm so scared about. Just want to see a wee flicker. That's all I need to see.

Challenge is going to be the staff Christmas night out. How do I explain away my sobriety?

For the people asking about the sore boobs, I find loosening my bra straps help a little bit. I have saggier boobs during the day but they're definitely less sore. Also changing into jammies as soon as I get home helps as I can let the ladies swing free.

hellotoyellow · 17/11/2018 10:31

@Napssavelives urgh! my husband's away for 12 days at a conference. It sucks on many levels (he'll miss my FMC Harmony scan; i have to make myself food through the nausea) but the house is so clean and tidy as I haven't messed it up.

Lovely scan @coastergirl and good luck @socktastic - I had a glass of prosecco x1 last night over an hour to stop suspicions at work, is this something you would consider?

Re sore boobs - I bought one of these at 5 weeks in a cup size up www.marksandspencer.com/flexi-fit-non-padded-full-cup-bra-a-f/p/p60090766?image=SD_02_T33_7146_AX_X_EC_90&color=ALMOND&prevPage=plp&pdpredirect and it's so comfy. I alternate between that and yoga bras.

I have a weekend of nothing to do planned - feel too sick to go out in the evening so just hibernating, it's amazing. Hope you all get some rest.

Napssavelives · 17/11/2018 10:42

Ive come back to bed for half an hour. The boys are playing and hubby sorting and I’m not much use. Just sat there feeling terrible, may as well lay down . I’m just counting down to bedtime atm , I feel so guilty .

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 17/11/2018 11:40

The worst thing about having a rough pregnancy when you already have children is that you feel like an absentee parent, unable to really engage with them, letting your fake share of domestic stuff go to seed and feeling like your dumping on your other half.

Without sounding like a smug twat following the previous posts, DH is absolutely wonderful with housework and has been a gem each time I’ve been too poleaxed to move.

But today he children are being extra “EXTRA” and he’s firefighting solo whilst I lie here upstairs trying to scoop my energy together for a play date at 12:30 that I don’t want to eat at even though the mum will undoubtedly have made a corking lunch.

WOE IS LITTLE ME. God, I sound so firstbworld problems.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 17/11/2018 11:41

*fair share

Pigriver · 17/11/2018 11:53

Yes house is a mess here too. Dh is sorting the day to day cleaning but it's in need of a full deep clean after a month of slacking. Dh is being fab and took ds out to his grans while I went back to bed for 2 hours!
Hopefully this weekend will be like last and involve doing very little. From next weekend we have something on every sat and sun til Christmas 😭

MadeInCornwallx3 · 17/11/2018 13:09

@Napssavelives oh how I sympathise! I've had to tell DH (who gets in v.late from work) that under no circumstances can he leave food out - it makes me hurl!

The other night after a few beers he had a kebab and although the carton was in the bin, oh dear god the smell!!! I couldn't use the bun all day.

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut Also sympathise with the absentee parent guilt. I have a 5 + 2 yo and it's so hard sometimes not having the energy to do anything with them.

Fingers crossed for all of us the end is in sight with all this.

I have my dating scan Tuesday - sick with nerves! X

curlypasta · 17/11/2018 16:23

Broke bed rest to go meet this little bean today. Had to be internal due to my uterus tilting backwards but there it was fluttering away, oblivious to the chaos it’s causing!

annihall · 17/11/2018 16:34

That's a lovely scan pic @curlypasta

We're having my dad over from Germany this weekend and as we're not planning to tell anyone before Christmas I have to pretend to be all fine... we went for a very long walk today and I've done over 10,000 steps so far - and surprisingly the nausea that stopped me from doing anything the last couple of weeks seems to have disappeared completely today. I'm knackered but other than that feel fine. Maybe moving more rather than less is the key? Just hoping I won't regret this tomorrow haha...

fee1234 · 17/11/2018 16:42

@curlypasta lovely pic!

We are about to go over and tell my 85 year old grandparents.

And telling all my partners family tomorrow at his birthday gathering! Feel so selfish that most of my family have known for weeks and this is his just finding out... but I've kinda enjoyed having it as a secret.

SassehMonsta · 17/11/2018 19:13

Can't wait for Friday's scan. Seeing some family on Sat who we haven't seen for ages, though I think A already knows, as she never gets in touch!! Dhs cousin - I told one of them and all of a sudden another pops up....!

DD is telling everyone, including friends I hardly ever see. So now a lady in a local shop who lives round the corner knows too!

LauralovesLuke · 18/11/2018 09:03

Good morning all!

The scan photos are so lovely and exciting! Getting a bit teary with happiness for you all!

Re: thirst - yes me too - but does anyone else find water now inexplicably tastes like metal?? I'm like, wtf did people do hundreds of years ago??

Re: sore boobs - in last year's black Friday sale at John Lewis I bought a Calvin Klein t-shirt bra which has been a lifesaver - I'm planning to buy a couple more as it seems like they're on offer again. I highly recommend it - so comfy and very soft material.

JBCG · 18/11/2018 10:22

Morning all. Jumping on the sore boobs and nausea trains! I went for a bra fitting yesterday and although I'm only 8 weeks they are HUGE! Got a few non wired non padded bras that the lady said I could sleep in so tried that last night and it was amazing!

My nausea is coming in the evenings mainly, haven't kept a dinner down for 6 days now 😔 so my plan is to try and pack all my food in in the mornings and then just nibble crackers for the rest of the day!

hexagon01 · 18/11/2018 11:39

Lovely lovely scan pics - I got my letter through and my dating scan is 7th December. Very excited but also a little daunted as it’s a day my son isn’t in nursery, we don’t have any family nearby so will have to take him, which I believe means that my boyfriend won’t be able to come in at first. I feel really sad about that.

socktastic · 18/11/2018 15:17

Introducing blobert. Early scan today. Baby looking well and heart beating nice and fast which is really what I wanted to know. Put me at 8+4 which is kind of what I was expecting and edd of 26th June.

Kescilly · 18/11/2018 19:50

Lovely scan @socktastic!

Torsz · 18/11/2018 19:53

@socktastic aww blobert! 🥰

JBCG · 18/11/2018 21:24

Lovely scan!

I am struggling with DP at the moment. We both were smokers until BFP (I have obviously stopped - with great difficulty to be honest) and he assured me he would 'cut down'. Now in fairness to him, I can see he really is trying but he's smoked 20 a day for over 20 years so was never going to go cold turkey, but is down to roughly 5 a day now (well so he tells me but who knows when he's at work!) But the last few days has seen my pg nose absolutely detest the smell of smoke. As soon as he comes back in from having a cigarette I can't stand to be near him as I feel physically sick. I don't want to nag him because he is trying and has really cut down when at home (obviously not actually in the house) but he always has one before coming to bed and I feel like I don't want him in the bed when he smells that bad! I have mentioned that I'd like him to have stopped by the time the baby gets here and he assures me he'll try but I'm not sure I believe him. I just need to try and talk to him in a way that's not nagging I guess.

Sorry no real point to that essay other than I needed a moan 🤦🏻‍♀️

jacquejacque · 18/11/2018 21:33

@JBCG I quit 9 months ago - I tried absolutely EVERYTHING and the only thing that worked was by going to my GP and having them register me for the stop smoking clinic. I was given Champix which is vile but bloody works. Only took about two months and I was off them for good. C

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 18/11/2018 21:42

@JBCG

Are you in London?

The Allen Carr clinic in Raynes Park sorted me right out and I was a dedicated smoker

JBCG · 18/11/2018 21:55

Im not in London, so not sure what there is in my local area. I've managed to quit thankfully although I do still think about it a lot! It's only been 3 weeks so I suppose that's fair. I just need DP to! It's hard though because his whole family smokes, his sister smoked throughout both her pgs so it's what he's used to. He knows it's bad and does want to stop .. he just hasn't

Kescilly · 18/11/2018 21:57

@JBCG I just wanted to say well done, I have tremendous respect for anyone who is able to stop smoking for the sake of their baby. I’ve never smoked but I can only imagine how difficult it is to stop.

I’ve had a really fantastic weekend. We told my in-laws and they were so pleased. Apparently my FIL has been wanting a grandchild for some time but had been tactful enough not to say anything! We also told my brother and SIL who were totally floored. They had no idea we were even trying and that I was actually four weeks pregnant when we saw them last.

I have my NHS scan tomorrow so we are going to hold off telling anyone else until we have the results. I’m nervous about genetic issues since my Harmony was inconclusive, but hoping for the best.
