Also car vomiting here. I have a bowl for vom in the front with me!! Back to work after a few days off on holiday. Not looking forward to it.

Worried at the back of my mind that baby may be really slow growing. Was very surprised to be put back 5 days between scans, and somethings niggling my brain. If this pregnancy ends in disaster, we will not be trying again - I can't do the sickness for so long with nothing to show for it!

Hope you all have better days today x

Bigonesmallone3 · 15/11/2018 08:54

I took a bowl with me today..

How long between ur scans? @SassehMonsta

I have a question, Iv heard before it's not recommended to sleep on ur back while pregnant I keep waking up on my back. Is it safe??

SassehMonsta · 15/11/2018 09:00

Bigones - it's how to fall asleep that matters, as you stay in that position most (apparently!)

My scans were 4/5 weeks apart, first one put me at 8+3 (thought I was 7+6 or 8+1). Second one I thought I was 11+6 based on previous scan but baby measuring 11+1. I guess my original guesses were accurate! The sonographer at 2nd scan said early scans aren't too accurate, it's a few mm here and there.

Bigonesmallone3 · 15/11/2018 09:06

In that case I wouldn't be concerned at all, my first scan they put me at 7+5 when I thought I was 8+4 and and when I get to my nhs one at 12 weeks I would expect that to be different too..

I always try and fall asleep on my side but I'm a fidget atm

KoalasAteMyHomework · 15/11/2018 09:17

I think not sleeping on your back is from the second trimester isn't it? When the baby and your uterus start weighing enough to cause problems on your back and organs (I think). I think side sleeping is preferred but agree with Sasseh its how you fall asleep thats important.
Yes I think early scans aren't quite as accurate so try not to worry too much if you can!

Skee · 15/11/2018 09:20

Plastic bag travelling companion in the car with me 😷

Hadn’t considered a bowl!

I wouldn’t worry too much at this point bigone, the lying on your back becomes more of a concern as the baby gets bigger - it’s to do with putting pressure on veins/arteries which can restrict blood flow. I found it comfortable to lie in my back until about 24wks last time, then I really felt uncomfortable pressure after that. Like sasseh said, once you’re bigger, you tend to stay in the same position once you’re asleep 🤷🏻‍♀️ (Well, I found anyway!) x x

Skee · 15/11/2018 09:21

What Koala said! 😊

Bigonesmallone3 · 15/11/2018 09:24

This is my third, with my last I slept on my front with one leg cocked up for the vast majority of my pregnancy

Skee · 15/11/2018 09:53

Gawd I remember missing sleeping on my front! I remember pillows... lots and lots of pillows...

sk17 · 15/11/2018 10:02

I have crazy phobia of vomiting and especially vomiting at work. I work in a hospital so shared bathrooms with patients is not the one for me Sad
Just been dry heaving constantly, especially when someone with strong perfume walks past or talk about food.

I really hope you all feel better soon.

Also don't feel bad for complaining as the first tri is definitely the shittiest time of our lives - our bodies are changing and we are just not used to it. Think of it like this, no one else is experiencing constant nausea, vomiting and fatigue around you so you are allowed to moan about it Grin

Napssavelives · 15/11/2018 10:05

Booking in appointment this morning, then off to buy a Christmas dinner sandwich, really craving one this morning

toomanyflatwhites · 15/11/2018 10:12

@Napssavelives when I was pregnant with DD I used to stand in front of the Brie and cranberry Christmas sandwiches in Pret and almost weep...can't believe I'm missing another whole year of them!!!
@sk17 Good point about the moaning...I was in the very busy tube this morning, carrying a heavy bag and knackered from not sleeping and just wanted to ask people to give me their seat - funny, because after being pregnant last time I thought I probably would go without a baby on board badge this time as I'm strong and healthy and don't really need one...but now I just wanna sit down!!

hexagon01 · 15/11/2018 10:54

Just had my booking in appointment. I had the same lovely midwife as most of my last pregnancy. She was very encouraging about my labour choices after last times emergency section. Apparently my hospital has a special VBAC department who I can speak to before making my choice. Made me feel a lot better.

JBCG · 15/11/2018 11:10

Morning all. Sorry I've been a bit quiet recently but I've enjoyed reading all your snack tips and what a lovely scan picture!!

Nausea and fatigue have hit me like a train this week and I am now cursing myself for saying a few weeks ago that I was slightly concerned with my lack of symptoms! It seems to be worse from lunchtime onwards and regular eating does seem to help so that's good.

Oh and a delightful morning (TMI alert) saw me cleaning up my kitten's diarrhoea (with gloves on, as I know cat poo is not so good for us with little beans!). So that really helped my nausea! Suppose cleaning up poo is something I'll need to get used to though!!

sk17 · 15/11/2018 11:33

@toomanyflatwhites awww I feel for you 😢 can't imagine travelling by tube while feeling like this. Try not to stand too long with anything heavy so if you need that baby on board badge, USE IT

Hey @JBCG I'm so sorry you're going through this now. How many weeks are you?

coles85 · 15/11/2018 11:43

Oh I'm taking great pleasure in your vom stories, making me feel less bad! I had to get off the bus to work just two stops from where I got on because I got that white mist of vom death and thought I might puke on a fellow commuter! Thankfully the lovely driver sussed what was going on and waited on me to get some air before letting me back on. What a sweetheart!

I've now taken to eating before i get out of bed in the morning Grin - i feel like an enormous pig stashing food beside me, but it helps!

Slightly jealous of all you ladies losing weight ( i know i shouldn't be, as you're all so sick!) - I have eaten my body-weight in carbs and the only way to stop sickness is eating...I just munched a mars bar at my desk lol

Napssavelives · 15/11/2018 11:44

Appointment went well, midwife led, hurray! Although a bit worried as she mentioned 3rf labours csn be longer 😫 my sandwich was amazing and I’m feeling really positive and excited today! Can’t wait for my scan now. Should be in 2.5 weeks

SassehMonsta · 15/11/2018 12:05

I want a sandwich. I don't have a sandwich. I am stuck at my desk with only a banana, some mints, and some rich tea biscuits, none of which sound appealing.

I have a consultant appointment on Wednesday next week, in which I think I will have to talk about my lungs, and diabetes, and HG. I just want to be not-consultant led by 37 weeks so I can use the Midwife led unit!

JBCG · 15/11/2018 12:07

@sk17 I'm between 7+6 and 8+2, not quite sure yet but got another scan next Thursday so will hopefully have a better idea of how far along in am.

I seem to be in a bit of a catch 22 because I am having unreasonable cravings for soreen malt loaf but every time I eat it I feel so sick! But it's the only thing I fancy eating weirdly 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fabuluce · 15/11/2018 12:08

I am SO jealous of that sandwich. Want it. NEED it!!

Roll on the next couple of weeks - I think there's going to be a whole swathe or lovely scan pics coming!

stellarfox · 15/11/2018 12:16

I’ve had two appointments through the post with a consultant at my local hospital...does that mean I shouldn’t book any appointments with a midwife for the time being?

@JBCG mine is next Thursday too! 😬

Reastiepeace · 15/11/2018 12:17

I have a question which is probably obvious but I don’t know! Last time I was mw led. I’ve been advised that this time I’ll be consultant led because of nausea issues and having a planned csection. Does that mean I don’t see my local mws and all my normal apts are with consultants or does it mean I still see local mws just consultants in addition? My local hospital have the local mws but consultants mean a long trek to big hospital so I’m wondering if I’ll have lots of trips to big hospital (with no car parking space...) or if it’ll be a combination.

Just eaten nut roast. Because I’ve really fancied it for about 3 days. So far so good but I only had a tiny portion as I’m worried it might be a bit much on the questionable tummy. Also weirdly craving this morning a marmite roll with lettuce, it has to have lettuce. That’s the first time since being pg I’ve really wanted something healthy. Hope it continues as my diet is usually so healthy and I’m just living off junk like salt and vinegar crisps atm as it’s all I can manage.

Kescilly · 15/11/2018 12:23

I’ve been told that I’ll be consultant led. I had my booking appointment with my midwife. Next week I’ll have my 12 week scan at the hospital and a follow-up appointment with a consultant at the hospital a week later. I then have a 16 week appointment scheduled with the midwife.

Torsz · 15/11/2018 12:24

I have my scan at 2.15 and am bricking it... just heading over to macdonalds to fill up on carbs and try to distract myself! I'd been counting down to today for weeks but now just want to go to bed and pretend it's not happening!!

Blondcat · 15/11/2018 12:27

9+1 today and counting down the 3 weeks until scan. Surprised myself this morning as was eating my cereal which I put milk on to soften but usually drain off as much as possible as don't like taste of milk but I actually fancied some this morning tried it and was like yum milk Hmm must need the calcium and hope it continues as much easier to eat when not draining each spoonful before eating lol. Weird how you can go off things you used to really like and really fancy stuff that you really didn't like.
