1st pg I officially told work after my 12 week scan, although my direct team members knew at 8 weeks (and tbh being the NHS everyone's a blabbermouth so HoD probably found out soon afterwards).
2nd pg I had to confess at 7 weeks as kept needing the odd day off with nausea.
3rd pg also confessed at 7 weeks and needed a month off.
Until you officially advise your workplace of your pregnancy, you don't get any rights, incl the right for time off for appts. Personally, I was happy to do a pg risk assessment asap, and given I still felt like shit at 11 weeks, it was great to have breaks mandated.

toomanyflatwhites · 12/11/2018 16:05

I actually just told someone at work today after all this chat 🤪 though not official in any sense!! Just whispered to someone who is 12 weeks pregnant with twins - "me too!" Nice to have the feeling that someone knows even if we don't directly work together but I feel slightly better now. Have told so few people so far it (weirdly) worries me that it's not really real (how does that even make sense??), but keeping the secret becomes so much a part of the early stages that it becomes hard to actually tell people I think. It's SUCH a weird social convention but a hard one to break!

Bigonesmallone3 · 12/11/2018 16:11

I told my boss last night after an early scan.. she was fabulous!
I'm 8 weeks

emily1511 · 12/11/2018 16:35

Had our first scan today at 9+1 so still due 16th June. Was an amazing moment but also still doesn’t feel real! They said everything is looking good so feeling very positive now! Just can’t wait for the nausea to calm down abit haha! Hope your all well today !

Great pic @emily1511! I’ve got my scan on Saturday Grin hope to get something that clear!

annihall · 12/11/2018 16:55

That's lovely @emily1511 - I'll have my official dating scan on Monday (even though I know from an early scan I'll only be 10+5 then), I'm hoping for a such a nice and clear picture as well :)

Also thanks everyone for your stories of when you told work or intend to do so. It encouraged me to tell them despite all my worries and very surprisingly my CEO who I was talking to was very happy for me and said not to worry we'll make it all work and he's glad to hear I am planning to return to work afterwards as they really wouldn't want to lose me :)

coastergirl · 12/11/2018 16:58

Thanks for the advice re vitamins ladies. I did get the free ones last time and have my booking in appointment on Wednesday so will see if I get them this time.

My work know I'm pregnant. I work with young people with autism and it can be very physically challenging. My immediate team know, plus a couple of senior management. Tbh I'm not that bothered about people knowing. I was open about the miscarriage I had, but I didn't want people to be on eggshells around me worrying about me having another. I feel more relaxed now I've seen a heartbeat though.

stellarfox · 13/11/2018 06:45

I can’t tell work as I’m applying for a promotion! Having to wait to announce publicly until I find out if I got it and when it is finalised. Maybe we will wait until Christmas! Although not sure how I’m going to handle a curry, leaving drinks and the Christmas party without anyone realising I’m not drinking at any of them! Might have to bail on at least one of them!

Had an awful migraine yesterday and had to abandon my car at work and get the train home. Train was awfully hot and I was sick at the station! Sad Bad day!

It’s our 12 week scan next Thursday. I am counting down the days!! I’ll be 12+1. Has anyone else got theirs coming up? I’m quite nervous but also excited

fee1234 · 13/11/2018 07:10

@stellarfox sounds like an awful day hope today is better x

My 12 week scan is on 26th, so two weeks yesterday. I will be 12+4, can't wait for it.

Fabuluce · 13/11/2018 07:38

stellar that sounds hellish, how are you feeling today? I find the migraine hangover can last a good couple of days sometimes.

I have my Harmony Test and 10 week scan tomorrow and then 12 week scan 2 weeks after that. Eek 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

stellarfox · 13/11/2018 08:05

Thanks both! Still headachey today but it’s much more manageable and I’m working from home which is so much nicer. I know we can’t take paracetamol but a caffeinated cup of tea seems to help (won’t have many as I know we can’t have much caffeine!)

So excited for these scans, please share photos! Fingers crossed for everyone 🤞🤞🤞

Torsz · 13/11/2018 08:09

@stellarfox I was told we can take paracetamol as long as the dose isn't too high - I've had one tablet each day for the past 3 days as I have really bad headaches!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 13/11/2018 08:44

I think I’m now completely done with the farts of London torturing my commute each morning I’m going to WFH as much as I can until this nausea and extra sensory smell goes away.

I can also smell the halitosis of the lady sat beside me god help us

MadeInCornwallx3 · 13/11/2018 09:12

@stellarfox Sorry your day yesterday was so crappy. I have my scan a week today at 11+2.

Anyway else just in pain all the time? My shoulders hurt, my knees (old skiing injury), back, everything 😭. I wake up so stiff and in pain it sucks. Maybe it's the relaxin hormone but I'm seriously fed up with feeling so bad. Add that to headaches and sickness and I am generally miserable.

Sorry for the moan, just a bit fed up! Praying it improves soon.

hellotoyellow · 13/11/2018 09:20

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut urgh yes me too! I just get on a very early tube, walk to the tube, but still feel like utter rubbish by the time I get to work.

But today, @MadeinCornwallx3, I have your problem so I'm emergency WFH. So achy. Might just stay in bed all day on the laptop!

Paracetamol in normal doses is fine, I was told. Just no ibuprofen.

sk17 · 13/11/2018 10:12

Hey All,

I missed like 4 days on this group and there is so much to catch up on Sad
I am so sorry if I missed anyone's replies or important messages.

Not had the best weekend. Started vomiting on Friday which was really bizarre for me as I was 10 weeks and I've not known anyone to have started throwing up at 10 weeks (when people's MS seems to be getting better). This led to the obvious worry that it could be food poisoning which led to me my worst nightmare...GOOGLE! Lo and behold saw 'MISCARRIAGE' plastered everywhere and DH and I spent the weekend upset (and a whole lot of crying) until we finally got to speak to a midwife.

Long story short, don't google your symptoms EVER!!! Grin

I also stopped vomiting on Sunday. So all seems well for now Blush

toomanyflatwhites · 13/11/2018 10:48

For those wondering about paracetamol, I had it prescribed to me by a doctor in France when I was pregnant and had a nasty sinus infection. Tablets were 1g and apparently that is fine!! I actually took one last night as in major pain with my back - which, like you @sk17, I googled and panicked was a sign of something serious, but more likely caused by having to sleep in the floor with DD the night before.
She is still bloody torturing me with the sleep deprivation btw, and this morning DP and I had a fight before he went off for a 2 night work trip (because he is terrible when he is tired...) and didn't make up before he left. Was in tears taking DD to nursery and almost lost it when they asked me how potty training is going!! (Clue: it's not!!)

stellarfox · 13/11/2018 11:11

Ooh right I’ll have to look into getting some low dose paracetamol then! Worth a try!

Sorry to hear that @sk17 hopefully it was just a passing bug. There’s always plenty going round this time of year!

Bigonesmallone3 · 13/11/2018 11:38

Salt and vinegar Pringles and helping me so much with morning sickness!!
I'm chucking every morning, my tummy muscles r strained from the heaving.. but a handful of these r shifting the nausea!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 13/11/2018 11:48

Oh @sk17 that sounds rubbish! I've been sick the odd time since 6 weeks ish but sick last night and again this morning so don't appear to be improving yet (I'm 10+2).

Def felt better with the previous two by 12 weeks so praying it's the same! 🙏🏻

So far have managed a yoghurt and a ginger nut. Excellent. 😂

sk17 · 13/11/2018 12:20

@toomanyflatwhites aww I'm so sorry you're feeling like this and I really hope you feel better soon. Can't even begin to imagine how difficult it must be having to look after DD as well Sad. Rest as much as you can, you deserve it

Mrsssmith11 · 13/11/2018 13:08

@stellarfox I've got my first scan a week today at 11+5. I can't wait, I feel like it has been a long time coming. I feel like we've known forever and am kinda desperate to start telling people. I walked into the Kitchen at work and there were two pregnant women standing chatting. I wanted to just join in! One of them I know has had 2 miscarriages and an ectopic so I know she'll understand my anxiety after a mid-trimester loss earlier this year.

Napssavelives · 13/11/2018 13:25

I’ve got thrush :( sad times!

Kescilly · 13/11/2018 13:44

Ladies, can you help me? I was looking into NCT classes after someone mentioned them. I’ve narrowed it down to these but I’m not sure what would be the best with my EDD. I’m due around May 31st.

Options 1 and 6 are the easiest for me to get to, but I think the more expensive class. Option 4 would probably be the most difficult in terms of location. Any thoughts?

Am I okay to join? I’m 7+5 and due the 27th June. Not seen the midwife yet but had to book an appointment with my GP yesterday to discuss morning sickness. I’ve never felt so ill in all of my life. It’s so draining and has possibly been the lowest few days of my life. He ended up prescribing me cyclizine which is helping but completely knocking me out. I’ve gone from being so excited and happy to genuinely wishing I wasn’t pregnant (I obviously don’t wish this) but that’s how low I’ve been feeling. Even being in my living room was making me feel sick. I haven’t left my bed since Friday evening. Work have been okay so far but there is only so long I can take off. At the moment there really is no choice, I physically can’t leave my bed. This is my first so I have no idea how long it will last for. Has anyone else experienced bad sickness and nausea? Sorry to moan but I think my partner is about ready to leave 😂 he has been amazing!!
