Thank you @purplestar9. It sure was! 3 weeks earlier than I thought seems like a huge difference...

CatflapFlapjack · 13/11/2018 07:16

Welcome @canders. What a surprise! How old will your first DC be when baby arrives?

Canders · 13/11/2018 07:18

@CatflapFlapjack she will be 9... so quite an age gap. Tbh we thought we weren't having anymore babies haha

purplestar9 · 13/11/2018 07:54

I'm finding it interesting to hear how many children everyone has already or if this is their first. Anyone want to share? How many children are you planning? (Or maybe not planning and just going with it!)
I'm currently pregnant with #1 and I would possibly go for one more after this, I think it depends how this one goes first haha!

@purplestar9 I’m pregnant with DC3! Swore blind to all who would listen my DS would be my last baby. I was done... until I wasn’t... then decided to go again so I don’t regret it in the future.
DD will be 5 in August.
DS will be 2 in January.
Baby will be born end of April/early May, god willing!

This time I’m actually DONE! 😂

HalfBloodPrincess · 13/11/2018 08:06

Number 4 for me. Have 2 teens and a toddler.

It might be my last 😂

lifechanginglemoncake · 13/11/2018 08:13

Looking for some brief advice. I'm 11+6 today and I've had a mild headache for 2 days which still seems to be there this morning. Anyone else had this?

It's just on the verge of being bad enough to consider taking paracetamol but probably could cope without. Sometimes it seems to have gone but then it comes back. Should I be worried?

Beckyv88 · 13/11/2018 08:26

It’s the first time for me @purplestar9 and I always thought I’d have two but it depends how this one goes too!

I have my 12 week scan today (at 12+4). Can’t wait to finally, hopefully, see the baby and feel reassured. I am nervous of course but also excited. I can’t believe they make you wait so long without seeing anything!

inkworks273 · 13/11/2018 08:27

This is number 1 for me. We'd like to have one more after this but the morning sickness has really put me off. Can't imagine having to go through this again!

UntilTheVeryEnd · 13/11/2018 08:43

@lifechanginglemoncake headaches in pregnancy is very normal due to increased blood flow causing tension in your head. I have a full nagging headache almost every day and had the same in both my previous pregnancies. Midwife never concerned. Take paracetamol - don’t be a martyr - drink lots of water and try to have a wee lie down if you can.
Headaches can be a sign of preeclampsia in later pregnancy when accompanied by visual disturbances, high blood pressure and protein in urine. Don’t worry at this stage - headaches are achingly normal and bloody annoying to boot.

inkworks273 · 13/11/2018 08:59

Does anyone know if you need a full bladder for a 12 week scan?

I never actually got my letter and only found out about my scan when I called yesterday to chase them up.

MrsReader · 13/11/2018 09:10

Yeah you do. I had about 2 pints of water a few hours before mine and had no problems

zoClueless · 13/11/2018 10:08

@purplestar9 first for me too, and like others I'd say our plan currently is for one more after but all depends how everything goes!

Got my 16week midwife appointment today. Feel like I should have some questions prepared but just not sure on what they are.

inkworks273 · 13/11/2018 10:10

Thanks @MrsReader

purplestar9 · 13/11/2018 13:10

@UntilTheVeryEnd haha, that's fair enough! I guess you never know until the time comes and it's easy enough to change your mind!

@TheHalfBloodPrincess how many would be your limit?

@Beckyv88 good luck for your scan!

@inkworks273 I don't blame you, if I had suffered badly I wouldn't even think about it. But every pregnancy is different so you just never know what you're going to get! Good luck for your scan! I just drank about a pint of water and all was good.

@zoClueless good luck for your appointment, I have mine tomorrow! Don't actually know what happens at this one, measurements of some sort?

OP posts:
Pebblespony · 13/11/2018 13:23

Mine is tomorrow too. I'm fairly nervous.

SurfingOwl · 13/11/2018 13:42

How is everyone?

I’m another one suffering from constant headaches. I’ve had my current one for over a week and nothing is shifting it. I also seem to have shifted from my earlier predominantly zen-like calmness about nothing going wrong to being unable to stop crying.

rosettesforjill · 13/11/2018 13:45

@inkworks273 you are supposed to I think, but both times mine was too full and I've been sent out for a wee!

zoClueless · 13/11/2018 13:50

@purplestar9 @Pebblespony - at the appointment she went over the results from the bloods they took at booking in (iron levels, glucose levels etc), took blood pressure, tested my urine sample, noted the results from the 12 week scan. Asked how I was feeling and if I had any questions. I got to listen to the heartbeat after confirming I wouldn't freak out (Ha!) if she couldn't find it as 16 weeks still early for Doppler and it's only routine from the next appointment at 25weeks. She did find it quickly though which was lovely. I'm going to try remember to record it next time for DH.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 13/11/2018 13:50

Welcome, Canders! That must have a big surprise! I was shocked when they put my dates forward by a week, let alone 3.

Headaches are frustratingly common here as well, lemoncake. I suffered really bad in my first pregnancy, the GP pescribed codeine but I didn’t take it. It’s probably just hormonal or, as UntilTheVeryEnd suggested, due to tension. Look out for warning signs of something more serious, but otherwise try not to worry.

This will be DC2 for me. No more! Unless we decide to go for #3, in which case I’m going for 4!

purplestar9 · 13/11/2018 13:57

@zoClueless great, thank you! You've just reminded me to take a urine sample too... I would have forgotten! Haha.

OP posts:
inkworks273 · 13/11/2018 13:59

Hi everyone. Scan went great. Everything measuring normal and I've been put at 13+4 and not 12+4 like I thought!

zoClueless · 13/11/2018 14:33

@purplestar9 I randomly remembered about the sample last night so set a reminder so I didn't forget before leaving earlier.
They also booked in the 25 week appointment whilst I was there today. I was 15+6 for this 16week one but she has waited the week for the next so I'll be 25+6 rather than just shy of the scheduled week like I was this time. Seems ages away til I next see her but there is the more exciting scan in the meantime 😊

zoClueless · 13/11/2018 14:33

@inkworks273 great news on scan. Must be lovely to jump a week ahead too!

inkworks273 · 13/11/2018 14:44

Thanks @zoClueless Yeah it's nice to jump ahead a week although I'm a bit miffed that I'm still so sick at almost 14 weeks!
