FrazzyAndFrumpled · 09/11/2018 18:04

As far as I know, the trigger for the gestational diabetes check is a BMI of >30, or other risk factors.

I’ve been feeling really nauseous today and a bit down in the dumps but for no real reason Sad

bumblebee39 · 09/11/2018 21:16

Sorry to hear that @FrazzyAndFrumpled hope you feel better soon xx

SurfingOwl · 09/11/2018 22:03

My starting BMI is based on my weight at booking in, @bumblebee39, which I currently weigh less than so don’t worry if yours isn’t quite right. I’ll also be having a GTT purely because of how I seem to grow babies.

I hope everyone is doing ok.

Rubberduckies · 10/11/2018 09:32

lemoncake yep I reckon that once it's less that a week it will be better. I know what you mean about time standing still... Luckily I got an early time, so the drive will be shit, but parking at the hospital will be easy and we can go for breakfast together afterwards. And if everything is ok we're going to go buy one expensive babygrow from Jojo lol! Will probably be most we'll spend on one thing ever!

MissSmith80 · 10/11/2018 11:53

My BMI was calculated at booking in and then I was weighed again for the trisonomy blood test but that wasn't written in my notes

SurfingOwl · 10/11/2018 13:24

@Rubberduckies I’m also planning on buying one expensive babygrow and that is pretty much the only new thing I’ll be getting for this baby.

UntilTheVeryEnd · 11/11/2018 09:26

I’m hoping to save some pennies by waiting til the January Sales! I already have a lot of stuff so only need furniture and new cot/Moses mattresses... maybe some new bottles as well. I figure I can hold out til Jan and save a bunch. Anyone else waiting for the sales?? Xx

MissSmith80 · 11/11/2018 12:31

@UntilTheVeryEnd I'm waiting for people (mainly my parents and sister) to but everything for me!) First grandchild and niece/nephew so I hope they are feeling generous 😂😂😂

dreaminofholidays · 11/11/2018 15:51

@untiltheveryend we want to wait until after the 20 week scan which is 28th Dec so that works quite well with January sales.

My SIL has lots of stuff she's more than happy to pass to us which we are very grateful for.

We'll still need to get the big stuff but at least we can save some money on other bits that they may not necessarily use for that long either! xxx

purplestar9 · 11/11/2018 16:32

My sister had a baby about 7-8 weeks ago so it's perfect timing for most things to be passed over to us! We're very lucky that she is very happy to be passing everything possible to us so it'll save us loads of money! We also want to wait until after the 20 week scan before we start sorting other things. At the very least we'll know if it's a boy or girl by then!

We won’t be buying much for this baby as we have everything we need from DS (who will only be 15m when his sibling is born). We will be getting a new cot and mattress, as well as a double buggy.

I’m 16+1 and starting to feel more and more anxious that I don’t know whether baby is ok in there. I’m still not sure if I’ve felt him/her moving around, can’t wait to be sure and feel it more frequently to give me reassurance. I’m seeing the Midwife tomorrow so hopefully will hear the heartbeat then. I’ve come down with another horrible cold, feel awful.

How is everyone else?

lifechanginglemoncake · 11/11/2018 18:33

@FrazzyAndFrumpled
I just had a major freak out that I have no idea if all is well in there. I'm 11+4 today and the nausea has vanished. Can feel hungry but not feel sick! Have had a banging headache all day though.

DH has done his best to reassure me that there is no pain (apart from the endless trapped wind) and no bleeding so as far as we know all is fine. I know this but it doesn't stop me getting in a spin.

Scan on 19th. Bet this week will crawl!

Hope you hear heartbeat tomorrow. Exciting.

Pebblespony · 11/11/2018 18:58

I have a toddler DD so the new baby will be inheriting everything except the baby gros we cut the feet out of as her legs got too long. If it's a boy he'll have loads of pink stuff. We asked family to give us gender neutral stuff but the in-laws insisted on giving us loads of pink, Disney crap. Ah, well.

HalfBloodPrincess · 11/11/2018 19:32

@Pebblespony the same. Ds will be 2 a few weeks after my due date so everything I have will be right size for right season so won’t buy anything myself.

All I need is a new Moses basket or something for downstairs as I lent mine and never got it back. Ds has never slept in his cot so it won’t need new mattress. And possibly a double buggy but will see how I get on with a sling first. My mum always buys a ‘going home’ outfit so that’s probably the only new thing it will have.

Of course this all depends on how good the sales are 😂😂😂

purplestar9 · 11/11/2018 20:10

@FrazzyAndFrumpled I'm sorry to hear you've got a cold again. I started with one over two weeks ago and it was really bad, and it still hasn't completely shifted. I just keep having to blow my nose! It will not stop!
Apart from that I'm 15+2 today, definitely getting bigger! And my trapped wind isn't as bad as it was before, but my trapped sciatic nerve is painful at times!!

Can anyone recommend where to get maternity clothes from that won't cost the earth? I've got some jeans from Asda online which fit well and I also ordered the same size in black work trousers but they are huge!! It's work clothes I'm struggling with. I'm currently still wearing dresses with tights (just bought a bigger size in tights today!), but it's not always comfortable, I wanted some trousers.

I got some on ASOS last time. Picked some clothes up in Lidl in the last few weeks. Totally random.

rosettesforjill · 11/11/2018 21:32

H&M or ASOS or New Look are ok. Quality isn't amazing but fine for the amount of time you'll be wearing it. I've found second time round they're looking a bit shabby.

My sister passed on some Seraphine stuff to me which is a lot more flattering. It's lasted through two and a bit pregnancies now (one of hers and one and a bit of mine), washes well and looks good as new - so if you can find any second hand it would be worth investing in!

curlyrebel · 11/11/2018 22:10

Hi all, can I join you? Found out today I'm nearly 3 weeks further along than I thought I was! So my EDD is 20 May. 12 weeks plus 1. 2nd pregnancy, DD is 19 months.

I started off having no signs at all, no nausea and now suddenly it's full blown. Haven't held down a meal today. I can see that others have been feeling more sick recently too...hopefully it will ease up soon for us all. I've also been getting pelvic pain like I did at the end of my last pregnancy. Planning on referring myself for physio. Otherwise it's going to be a difficult pregnancy...

MimiSunshine · 12/11/2018 05:43

For everyone suffering with cold / stuffy / runny noses, this came up on my app:

The same increased bloodflow that’s busy keeping circulation up in your growing, changing body, and getting you ready to breastfeed is going to keep contributing to that increased vaginal discharge, as well as nasal congestion.

Explains why I’ve got rid of the cold but now have blocked sinuses 😬

purplestar9 · 12/11/2018 13:13

Thanks for all the advice on maternity clothes, I'll try ASOS later I think.
@curlyrebel welcome :) bet that was a shock to get such a big jump in dates!
@MimiSunshine I read that too. I think I actually have a sinus infection though, my nose is constantly running but it at the back of my nose and it sometimes sends a shooting pain to my eye when I blow my nose :( please ease off soon!!

Using Ovia, Mimi Grin

That doesn’t sound very pleasant purple, maybe ask the pharmacist if there’s anything you can do?

I saw my midwife this morning. We listened to the baby’s heartbeat and I definitely felt a kick while the Doppler was pressing on my tummy Smile so reassuring.

Pebblespony · 12/11/2018 14:05

I have pregnancy related rhinitis. It's driving me crazy. Had it last time too. Took a steroid spray very sparingly when I was unable to sleep etc. There's a small risk of cleft pallet with prolonged use. I'll prob take it again. Sparingly.

inkworks273 · 12/11/2018 14:24

I just called the scan department at the hospital to chase up my 12 week scan only to be told I have an appointment booked for tomorrow! So glad I called as I didn't receive the letter.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 12/11/2018 14:41

inkworks273 that was lucky! Good luck for tomorrow Smile

Canders · 12/11/2018 18:11

Hi Ladies,

I'm new to the thread. I'm currently 12+2 weeks with my second child... I found out just a few weeks ago that I am pregnant. I was on the pill at the time so it all came as a massive shock but a very happy surprise!

Finding pregnancy alright so far. Very tired all the time, headaches yet.... but not vomiting everyday like I did with my first.

That's me anyway :-)
