Just in case we get locked out without realising!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
doggus · 20/06/2007 21:18

Holly - adding my voice to foxy's - sounds like your sweep was awful, sorry. I am not having one of them if they offer me one!

riabutterflew · 20/06/2007 21:19

Hope I haven't missed you all. Am (obviously) back at home and as new LO had done a nasty black tar poo (again) I thought we would have a bath and get that horrible birth goo gone.

Gabriel David Lloyd arrived yesterday at 13.36 weighing in at approx 8lb10oz. He is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO gorgeous and looks like both his big brothers (and NOT like FIL - yipee).

Do you want the gory detais?

mumof4aceboys · 20/06/2007 21:19

foxy - think you asked me the other day if having 4 was hard? No its no harder than 3 I dont think. I found it tricky going from 2 - 3 but wasnt sure if it was the fact that there wa a bigger age gap ie. 18m between DS1 & DS2 then we had 3.3yrs before DS3 but then DS4 came along 12m later. The more the merrier I think!

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 21:20

yay, RIA....WELL DONE YOU! Gabriel....what a great name...
of course we want the gory details

foxybrown · 20/06/2007 21:21

Yes Ria! We do! I've been waiting for you...

Thanks for not bursting my bubble Mumof4! I found 1 - 2 the hardest, so feel pretty confident about this one.

hollyandalice · 20/06/2007 21:21

Yes please Ria, the more details the better, we love a good birth story!

Thanks for the positive vibes ladies, I do feel better now and a bit more like my upbeat self! Not usually one for moaning, don't know what came over me!

foxybrown · 20/06/2007 21:22

Oh, and Ria, thanks for passing on those 'Hippo Ankles' that you mentioned the other day to me

doggus · 20/06/2007 21:23

Spill, Ria, and many congrats on Gabriel!

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 21:23

did i mention that i has my ankles back?

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 21:24

i has.....ykwim

foxybrown · 20/06/2007 21:25

ankles? I know not of these 'ankles' of which you speak Daisy

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 21:28

lol foxy...am so glad they're back to normal.....my feet were horrible and sore and my toes were all swollen up like little fat piggies as well after the op!

foxybrown · 20/06/2007 21:29

I'm a hippo from the buttocks down

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 21:29

garh if ria's gone off to bath her LO, i can't wait up. dd just fed so i have a three hour window for some sleep...gotta go!

doggus · 20/06/2007 21:30

Daisy - I had lunch with my 86 year old neighbour today and itwas questionable as to whether her ankles were better than mine!

foxybrown · 20/06/2007 21:30

I'm off too. My hair has gone curly now its dry. Won't look good with my 'fascinator'.

what the bloody hell do I think I'm doing?!

Night all, sleep well. Holly don't stress. TA, have a baby FGS! xx

riabutterflew · 20/06/2007 21:42

Sorry it took so long. I'll keep it nice... but it won't be brief!

Woke up yesterday approx 5.30, went for wee, found a show. Went back to bed. Had 2 contractions 10 mins apart. So, got up, started to organise the stuff for the boys sleepover and school run. Came on Mnet (and the contraction timer) as you know to keep me going til the boys had gone. Had to let the electric meter man in during contractions too.
After puking up my breakfast and paracetamol at 9am I had a bath with lavendar oil then rang hospital at 9.30 as contractions were about 30 seconds long and every 7 minutes. They told me to hang on longer, until I needed pain relief. Rang back at 10.15 (when I eventually got through - it was engaged for ages), as they were still only 30 seconds but less than 5 mintues apart and was told to go straight in.
Long story short, eventually made it to labour ward (around 10.45am) after a few stops!, 7-8cm dilated! MW started to fill the pool, got it half full and found out I "exceeded the allowed weight" for water birth, so she had to empty it again. I was very disappointed.
So, continued with TENS, then moved to gas and air. Had my waters broken at 1pm (DH couldn't believe the amount of fluid), Gabriel born 36 minutes later. He had a VERY LARGE HEAD (or so it seemed when he was on his way out, it looks normal now). The placenta took a bit of getting out and I wasn't being brave any more for that and the afterpains! I didn't swear too much or slag off my MIL either (the MW was lovely but she didn't look the type you could really let go in front of!) I did scream though

DH was also amazed at the immediate fallout of further fluids and blood (he has never stayed in the delivery room with me for so long afterwards. We were there about 3 hours). No stiches. DS3 (wow!) did a poo before they weighed him or no doubt would have been even heavier (although I think he's a lovely little bundle). Would you believe it though - no bloody toast (and after all that too.) Was v hungry by dinner. The post natal experience was horrible this time though (it was really nice and relaxing with DS2, except the darts on the TV), didn't get water jug til bedtime last night and didn't get a fresh one today. Haven't had a MW near me when BF. Also DS3 (!) feeding a lot last night and then when he finally settled today someone came to check him/do tests every time and woke him.

SO WE ARE HOME

DH & I having early WA celebration as DS1&2 having another night at GPs.

Sorry long post.

hollyandalice · 20/06/2007 21:43

Goodnight everyone. I've got a backache from sitting at the pc and my dp is STILL breathing too loudly! Hope your baby is born tonight TA, if not then good luck tomorrow xxx

hollyandalice · 20/06/2007 21:46

Well done Ria! that you couldn't have a waterbirth, it sounds like a bit of a crap reason for not letting you have one! Sorry that your PN experience was shitty too! Hope you are enjoying your lo and you are feeling ok! Loads of congrats to you and dh! xx

riabutterflew · 20/06/2007 21:48

Sorry, that took longer than I thought. Also looks longer than I thought.

Sorry again.

My bubble has been burst though. DH isn't having 2 weeks off as his bastard boss has gone back on his promise to pay him full wage and says he has to apply for SPP which we can't afford to do. BASTARD ARSEHOLE WANKER. He will go back on Saturday (after taking until then as holidays or lieu days, whichever. I am SO pissed off and so is he, especially as even though he had his day off and 2 sick days last week he still worked over 50 hours in 4 days. He is going to jobcentre tomorrow to find new job/find out his rights on WTR etc). And it made me cry. Bollocks!

Am going to spend time with my menfolk.

BTW, DS1 & 2 have been ADORABLE about DS3. I am a happy bunny mummy.

Thanks you all for being my friends. I hope I still have time to bore you... good luck vibes to everyone.

justbeme · 20/06/2007 22:05

Ohhh Ria - am so very happy for you - Had a tear in my eye when I'd heard you'd popped!!
Sounds like you DH definately needs to get out of that job - what bastards!! - hope your DP finds out his rights tomorrow.
You take care.

justbeme · 20/06/2007 22:08

I meant DH!

Am knackered myself, spent 2 hrs cooking 10 dinners that im putting in the freezer for when LO is born. (bringing on majorrrrr nesting now!!).
Also have backache from all that hunching over the chopping board etc!!

Ohhhh PG brain!!!!!!!!!!
Bumper WELL DONE!!!!!!! AM SO VERY HAPPY FOR YOU TOO.

Now all we need is TA/Holly and DKWM to pop!!
Oh I bet ive forgotten someone.... feeling too tired to think straight now.
Night night all xxxx

trendaverter · 20/06/2007 22:14

I am v pissed!
Pains v bad but STILL 6 mins apart.
So I have had 1/2 bottle wine to ease the pain. Feeling gooooooooood

Going to bed now, being induced in the morning, doubt I will perform my natural childbirthy duties before then, I seem to have stalled.

Well done Ria, sleep well ladies, I shan't but it won't be for lack of trying xxx

Klaw · 20/06/2007 22:22

Night Night TA, sleep well sweetie, will be thinking of you.........

foxybrown · 21/06/2007 05:28

Lovely birth story Ria, well done you! Love the name. Post-natal is crappy, that's just the way it is sadly! But you sound really happy, and the birth was great!

Shame about DH's boss who obviously needs a good sharp kick in the 'nads for his troubles!

Good luck this morning TA - if you haven't gone in all ready xx

I'm off to try to get another hours zzz's.

Good luck everyone today! xx
