I'm distracting myself with a live labour thread here !

OP posts:
Klaw · 20/06/2007 11:09

Annobal, if you are fully engaged then that's good for when labour does start as that part of the job is already done. Can't tell you when labour is likely to start tho! Don't stress about it, enjoy the twilight of your pg and plan something nice for every day even if it's just a stroll in park, lunch with friend, pedicure, massage from dh... iyswim?

check out Early Labor Mistakes and have a general browse there. It's a nice encouraging site, I think.

annobal · 20/06/2007 11:20

Thanks Klaw. Think I will take a walk to the park and tire DS1 &2 out - may have the added bonus of moving things along...

annobal · 20/06/2007 11:21

Bumper - good luck with the MW! Will check back later...

hollyandalice · 20/06/2007 11:23

So much is happening! Wow!

I guess TA must be going through some sort of induction process as I type! I am wafting loads of laboury type vibes to her!

Bumper, it all sounds pretty promising! Just do what you feel like, run around the flat screaming, jump up and down, eat, drink, whatever! I found that leaning over the back of a chair helped me in the first part of labour! Hope it happens quickly!

Right, if bumper has hers today and TA, then it is my turn next! LISTEN TO ME BABY...IT IS TIME TO COME OUT NOW!!

derlor · 20/06/2007 11:30

you'll all be joining the sore norks thread soon!!!!!

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 11:40

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 20/06/2007 12:48

Bloody hell!

Just had a catch up! It's all kicking off here then!!!

Well done Ria - can't wait to hear the details

Sooooo pleased that something is happening with TA! And really hope the very end of her pregnancy is 'a piss off piss!' for her!!

Bumper!!!! here's hoping this could be the start of a very productive day for you! Remember '3-2-1-reeelllaaaxxx'

Nothing more to report from me - apart from the odd twinge and the usual snail trail!!
Gonna take the dog for a walk and have some more reflexology this afternoon.

I've been REALLY sleepy yesterday and today - been having loads of naps - I'm hoping it's my body's way of storing up energy?? - either that or I'm just a right lazy cow at the mo!

justbeme · 20/06/2007 12:53

Bumper's Live Birth Thread

trendaverter · 20/06/2007 13:27

Hello All!
Thank you so much for all the positive vibes!
I feel pretty good - tired but good!

The checks at the hosp showed that baby was engaged, I was 3cm dilated and quite soft and stretchy. Last night all the wet knicker chat WAS my waters broken.
They said I have to go in at 7am tomorrow to be put on oxytocin unless I start labour on my own beforehand.

I started having contractions after they saw me (while I was still in the waiting room) and I figured that I had a while yet, so I drove to sainsburys, did the shopping, having lots of MAJOR pains and called DH from the toilet roll aisle to come home. I drove home (interesting experience) and DH arrived and I said I wanted to go out for lunch - well it might be our last chance for a while, just the 2 of us!

No point in sitting around at home eh?

Anyway back home now, seems like labour is indeed in progress, slow but sure, it's all a bit painful but no problems yet. Even if I can't quite get into the full throes before induction tomorrow, at least I will be some of the way there.

My DH (and I am too really) is amazed that I said NO to being induced before before thursday - the dr told me I couldn't do it naturally - here I am giving it a good shot.
Seems like Klaw and Lulu were right, trust your instincts

trendaverter · 20/06/2007 13:38

CONGRATULATIONS RIA!!!

And GOOD LUCK BUMPER!!!

It's all happening today

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 20/06/2007 13:42

Bugger - I only went for a shower and I missed all of Bumpers actions!!

Really pleased you're ok TA - and good on you sticking to you're guns - see - your body DOES know what it's doing! Won't be long now!!

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 13:44

TA...you're a credit to all of woman kind. enjoy your lunch and fingers crossed things will kick off over the next 16 hours....you know what to do!!

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 13:47

how are you doing DKMA?

holly has gone a bit quiet too??

trendaverter · 20/06/2007 13:50

Jeez these things bloody hurt eh!!

Thanks Daisy...although I don't feel anything special. Relieved, happy, tired yes, but that's it! I am just over the moon that I waited and found that yes in fact my body does know what to do.
Waiting was very tough, physically and emotionally. Esp emotionally.

I am in early labour apparently, contractions irregular (between 7-10 minutes) but strong, can't really walk or talk much through them, but BB repeats of last night and MN is keeping me busy!

How are you today Daisy? Is your Mum going to visit?

mumof4aceboys · 20/06/2007 13:51

TA - wow what a woman!!! Can't believe your a 1st timer! You seem so confident & relaxed!! Earth Mother you!! Well done & keep us posted.

mumof4aceboys · 20/06/2007 13:53

TA - when you get a contration, try leaning against a wall of DH and with your feet a foot or so apart try rocking gently. I found that helped me. If not, you seem to be doing it all on your own so go with it. Im in awe at yoou!!!!!!!!!!

trendaverter · 20/06/2007 13:58

Hi Mumof4

Hmm not sure about confident and relaxed, just relieved that I might have avoided the pessaries and crochet hooks and drips! Maybe. I don't much like hospitals and interventions. Who does? We'll see how today goes.

Well I have def avoided the pessary and crochet hook anyway!

Earth mother indeed, lol, I think you being a mum of 4 you have earned that title, not me

twoplusone · 20/06/2007 14:04

Goodluck TA.

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 14:06

we're all a bit tired and jaded...very unsettled baby all night who has decided she'd rather be cuddled than be in her crib.

lilKelBel · 20/06/2007 14:20

just popping in from crazy mum-of-2-under-2-world to say hello, good luck, and can't wait till you join the madness (aka postnatal thread...)

enjoy your wee babies when they arrive!!

doggus · 20/06/2007 14:55

Good luck TA, really delighted for you!

Bumper - I am about to go on to read your thread, sounds good though!

Ria - many congrats, looking forward to hearing about it!

Doggus update - loads of rusty coloured show, few twinges but that's been three days now. Still it's a week early....
