Just in case we get locked out without realising!

Huge congratulations Sputnik! What have you called him? Fast birth! Did you actually get the epidural in the end?

bumperlicious · 19/06/2007 18:48

Glad to hear everything went well. We've missed you! And like daisy said, it's great that everything was fine after all those issues with your cervix. How are you liking being a mummy?!

Doggus, I bet your hair looks fab! I did the same thing recently, I had hair down past my boobs now it's up to my jaw. Though I find I have to do more to it than I did when it was long!

So, just had a pretty hot thai curry, but not sure it was hot enough, I wolfed it down whilst DH was slowly making his way though his. Not sure the LO liked it, squirming a bit now - is that the whole idea? Make them so uncomfortable that they want to come out!

Daisy - poor mystic red ranger, how scary! Good ol' DH though. How are your nips?

Daisy - how lovely to be have to show off dd, but poor ds! I can still remember choking on some salami when I was little - my mum had to pull it out using her long nails...

Bumper - yes this is jaw length. It looks quite trendy but as you say it is going to be hard work, it's already gone to frizz in the humidity.

Is anyone else having weird weather today - it's sub-tropical here on the south coast, raining but hot?

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 18:56

Congratulations Sputnik! We wondered how/where you were.
Really pleased for you and of course I am so jealous!

On that note, yes I am still here. I live here now. In fact I have had my LO I am just in denial

I had a haircut recently, it was £45 I should never have spent. I had lovely hair, it just needed a trim, 'Style Guru' Andrew, franchise owner of Toni and Guy, misinterpreted my request for "something funky, shaggy and boho" for "a nice mumsy bob please".

I was so not impressed. But it's growing out now.

bumperlicious · 19/06/2007 18:57

We've got lots of wind here (or is that just me ). Right, going to get off and spend some time with DH before girlfriends come over to eat lemon drizzle cake with me!

we have thunder and lightning but it's so hot we have all the windows and patio doors open

sputnik · 19/06/2007 19:07

Thanks everyone, just realised I missed a few details. He is Theo, full name Theodore Suheil. Suheil was DH's father's name and is the Arabic name of the second brightest star in the sky. He was born 3.4 kgs.

Despite LOVING not being pg anymore I've actually had a hell of a day. DH is off work for a week and has promptly got a very high temperature and is in bed. DD has the shits and is competing with Baby Sputnik for pooey nappies.... I have lost count. Plus one of my clients had a website crisis which took me a while to sort out, while the baby decided to feed constantly, and I mean constantly, all afternoon. My nipples are going to fall off soon. We were supposed to trek into Rome to get baby checked for jaundice as they won't officially discharge him till it's cleared, but couldn't make it. Will have to go in tomorrow. The same happened with DD and we ended up going in (3 hour round trip) everyday for a week. I really hope that doesn't happen again.

So, all is not rosy on the other side, but at least I can bend down and my ankles have reappeared

sputnik · 19/06/2007 19:10

Oh and I did get the epidural Annobal, but think I only got the effect for the last 3 or 4 minutes, plus getting the placenta out, so needn't have bothered really. Worst thing was they sent DH out while they were doing it so I spent the most painful contractions clinging to the midwife while he stood outside listening to me screaming.

doggus · 19/06/2007 19:48

Theodore is lovely, sputnik, and I LOVE Suheil (is it pronounced Suhay?). What a nightmare the trip to Rome sounds, I hope you don't have to do it. I keep forgetting you're in Italy. It must be boiling there, I am obsessed with the heat today, it's driving me mad!

TA - how long did it take to grow out

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 19:51

Don't worry Doggus it won't take long to grow out!

Mine is getting there - it's below my shoulders now anyway. But I think what with all these hormones in our bodies my hair is growing at the rate of knots, ('scuse the pun)!

I have to shave my pits every other day, mental

daisyboo · 19/06/2007 19:54

LOL Sputnik at bending down...it's the little things in life that you miss when pregnant isn't it. I was actually able to wash and dry my feet properly for the first time today instead of putting the soap filled scrunchie on the bottom of the bath and rubbing my feet along it!

Bloody knackered....must have been my walk to school and back. And DS had the mother of all tantrums tonight....

doesn't sound as bad as casa Sputnik though

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 20:04

Love the names Sputnik! You sound like you are doing OK

Ooh, don't get me started on Toni and Guy. Last time I went there I had to go back the next day and got my money back. I still seeth when I see the idiot who scalped me.

It was 2.5 years ago!

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 20:12

Erm
I have another 'is this normal?' question.

ok, so I was slimer from ghostbusters, but it's different now and I am worried I have a problem.

My elephant snot has now become really watery and constant and I feel like I am leaking.
WTF?
I could understand if my waters had gone, but they haven't - what's going on?!

daisyboo · 19/06/2007 20:19

Why do you think they haven't gone TA......it could be hindwaters, or just a trickle cos bubs head is acting like a plug???

We need the services of a Doula.....

daisyboo · 19/06/2007 20:21

can you get a sample of it....amniotic fluid should be clear and smell sweet....not like wee at all. if there's any green in it, that denotes meconium and you need to call the hospital

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 20:22

I have no idea!! Never done this malarchy before.

I don't think they've gone...surely I would have noticed?

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 20:23

No it's not wee and it's clear, no green.

I just thought it was watery discharge but I am a little worried it is waters (I don't have much of that y'see)

daisyboo · 19/06/2007 20:23

Not always......shall we put a call out for Lulu, Klaw or Mars??

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 20:25

Wear a pad and keep an eye on it, won't you?

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 20:25

ok go for it ... do you think I should call MW? I don't want to call the hospital, they closed it today it was so busy, I don't want to sit around for 4 hours to be told I am a worrywart when I have an appt at 9am tomorrow anyway!!

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 20:26

If you want to put a call in to delivery suite, then do - for their advice if nothing else. They won't tell you to go in unnecessarily, but it might stop you worrying all night!

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 20:26

ok foxy - but what am I looking out for?

Chances are it is completely normal, I just keep having to 'dry myself off' every hour or so and wondered if it was normal at this stage.

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 20:28

I guess its just to make sure it stays clear and will give you some idea of how much you are losing (or how often you need to change it).

TBH I don't really know as mine have never gone and were 'popped' each time. If you get a big gush (and it is big when they go) you'll know about it!

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 20:31

ok.
I think I will leave it tonight as it's just a wet feeling and I have to go dry off every hour or so - it's clear and watery.

Surely I would have noticed if my waters had gone? I had a scan yesterday that said I had low amniotic fluid levels which is my only concern really. I was expecting a gush, this just feels a bit wet!

As I have a checkup at 9am tomorrow I will speak to a MW while I am there, worst case is I am induced tomorrow instead of friday I suppose.

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 20:37

They can leak, or it could be hind waters. Like daisy says, baby's head can act like a plug.

Do whatever you feel comfortable with, but if you want MW advice do call - they won't get you in unnecessarily - they are too busy!
