Just in case we get locked out without realising!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
daisyboo · 19/06/2007 14:40

hi foxy......thanks. thanks for the tips on routine. it will be hard, but we will get there. i think its the thought of doing it on my own thar's scaring me more than anything, especially if em has had a bad night.

lol at the pjs for the afternoon school run. dh was telling me he'd heard something on the radio about a school in NI somewhere which has a dress policy for the parents as they were turning up in their jammies to drop the kids off.

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 14:43

Yay!
I feel all efficient.
Just made some potato salad and egg mayonnaise for DH to take to work tomorrow, and tidied kitchen.

All you ladies who were induced in previous PG - can you help?
I have 2 bags, 1 for labour and 1 for hospital stay, given that my stay is now likely to be longer and I am going in to be induced, will I need anything different? (Except for the extra magazines maybe)

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 14:47

There was a thread on here about that. TBH its perfectly acceptable to do the morning one! Why not sleep in day cloths and take the pressure off in the morning?!

Breakfast and tea times are REALLY hard. Star charts work for getting them to eat without dithering. They can have TV once they are dressed and ready. (Except they'd already had an hour of telly by the time me and DP got up at 7.30 this morning ). Clothes ready and bags are at the door the night before.

I'm in the habit of working really bloody hard in the day (you'd never think it the amount of time I'm on here!) But mostly all gets done by 7.30pm.

I have the advantage of being an anally retentive control-freak with OCD tendancies!

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 14:48

that should be Day Clothes!!

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 14:51

Foxy
That all looks WAY too hard. Perhaps I should stop wanting LO to come out and be grateful it's still in?

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 14:51

Got a baby bag too TA?

Shit, still haven't packed mine. Going to do that now.

I'd leave a bag at home for DP to bring in, after 2 or 3 days. you can swap them over for your laundry etc.

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 14:52

Baby bag?? There's a BABY?!

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 14:53

There's something to be said for staying pg!

There's only 14 months in between my oldest 2 so being over-organised is something I'm pretty experienced in by now!

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 14:54

Oh yes! Its NOT a big fart, contrary to what we all believe from time to time!

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 15:03

What about these girls that don't realise they are pregnant? They just reckon they have gained a bit of weight, and then whoosh out comes a baby after 9 months.

I don't buy it.

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 15:19

someone on here knew someone at work who had one of those pgs! Can't remember who it was now.

righto, i'm off to do the school run. I find this time of day soooo hard, i just want to sleep.

There's a fire engine parked over on the common for the children. Am going to check out the fire-fighters

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 15:27

How can that be??
I can hardly move! How can they not know? I wish I was one of those girls...sigh

mumof4aceboys · 19/06/2007 15:35

TA - i'd recommend having 2 baby bags. One for strainght after delivery with a vest, nappy, grow, shawl etc and one for your stay in hosp. With my DS1 I had my DH rooting through the baby bag aimlessley mucking it all up looking for stuff.

Would also say to buy som formula incase you don't get to grips with breastfeeding (if you intend to do that). I had to make a trip to the supermarket with our 1st on the way home from hosp to get formula coz I just presumed I would breastfeed. You can always chuck it or use it when weaning if you dont use it straight away.

Good Idea from foxy also about the spare clothes bag for in a few days. My DH brough me thongs when I asked him to fetch spare knickers!

I do like to be very organised. Need to having 4 in 6 years.

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 15:39

Thanks mumof4 - I will put some spare clothes aside. My DH is good...but not that good

The formula one is a good idea, I am still umming and ahhing about BF'ing.

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 16:56

Same as me then Mumof4 - my DS1 will is 5.5. I'll be hunting you down when I need some help on how to do it with 4. In my bubble its not any harder than with 3 (don't go bursting that bubble now, will you? )

OK, tea time. Must be time to shout

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 17:05

I reckon everyone is off giving birth today.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 19/06/2007 17:20

Not me yet TA!
Still on my fecking ball!

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 17:28

DKMA....
I am beginning to think your ball doesn't work.
On the plus side, gives your DP something to look at

trendaverter · 19/06/2007 17:34

Erm... is it normal to feel baby movement in 1 bum cheek?
I hope so!
Would explain how my arse got to be so big, if baby is using it for extra room.

sputnik · 19/06/2007 17:35

Bloody hell TA, you still here?
.
Well, finally I've got a chance to post, though not to catch up. Will try and post one-handed and give you my full birth story, as Baby Sputnik wants cuddling....

Basically I got another stomach bug a week before giving birth and ended up quite dehydrated. Saw the gynae on thurs and she said amnio fluid was really low and recommended I go in for induction the following day. Meanwhile cervix was still 4cm and moved forward, she gave me a quick sweep and I started getting regular, but not painful, contractions that night. Next day at the hosp they were about 4-5 minutes but still not that painful, and at lunchtime they put me on a drip. After a couple of hours they were not getting that much stronger so they broke my waters....

Then came the most intense 20 minutes of my life, as 2 minutes later I was calling for the anaesthetist and she fumbled around failing to get the epidural in for ages. By the time she had I was ready to push and 3 pushes later Baby Sputnik was out. Huge satisfaction. Once they had cleaned out some fluid he'd swallowed he was on the breast straight away, looking around curiously.

We're home now but he has a bit of jaundice so having to go back for checks, which is a pain. But SO happy not to be pg anymore... sorry!

daisyboo · 19/06/2007 17:48

Hello Sputnik....Congratulations and welcome to Baby Sputnik.....lol at your cervix holding its own at the last minute after all those weeks of bed rest.

Glad he's doing well and look forward to catching up with you on the PN thread, but bear in mind it can be very quiet over there waht with all those sleeping babies!!

daisyboo · 19/06/2007 17:49

Any photos?????

doggus · 19/06/2007 17:51

Well done sputnik, great to hear your story. I think I am more envious about you not being pg any more than your having a baby (iyswim).

I have been at the hairdressers and had a mad hormonal moment when they suggested a change. Oops. I now have a very short bob with a fringe. At least it will be practical for the baby. Dh is not sure, I can see it in his eyes as my hair was past shoulder length. It'll grow.

Still having the brown discharge and vague periody pains.

foxybrown · 19/06/2007 17:56

Fast birth then? Congrats Sputnik! He sounds lovely - straight on and feeding, looking around - perfect!

Don't worry Doggus, its good to have a change

daisyboo · 19/06/2007 18:19

Just had awful moment at teatime with DS choking on a mange-tout. He got some of it up himself, but was still choking and starting to go blue inpsite of me patting him on the back. DH (who's done first aid) slapped him very hard on the back and that got it all up.....he hit him so hard you can see the fingerprints on DSs back.....needless to say DS not overly impressed that his dad hit him so hard, but it worked. The poor wee soul.

Did the school run this afternoon, and it took me three times longer than usual as everyone wanted to talk to DD and have a cuddle with her. It was really lovely though, and my head was swelling with pride at all the "she's gorgeous" comments.
