So I’ve had a stressful morning. Been to see my doctors this morning, I never changed surgeries after moving house as the one I’m in catchment for has the most awful reputation. I know the lady on reception at my old surgery and today they clocked on and the doctor told me I have to move. She’s referred me to midwife to get the ball rolling but basically I needed to sort it out. Cried all the way home then begged a surgery where I live to take me even though I’m not in catchment, they said yes! Sooo happy and relieved.

Then I get a call from my old doctor. There’s blood in my urine. So this afternoon is a job of registering at the new surgery and getting in for a blood test and new urine sample ASAP.
Getting rather worried but trying to stay calm!

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 13:18

@HchyScott oh poor you. What a day! What does blood in the urine mean? Bladder infection?

HchyScott · 05/11/2018 13:27

@Frazzlerock I’m not sure, she didn’t say infection but they want to test my kidneys with the blood test and check for protein in urine. Just found it odd, a dipstick test would show if I had an infection surely? Did the obligatory google and it seems it’s very common in pregnancy with uti responsible or no obvious cause! Fingers crossed it’s nothing. I have had back ache so maybe it is infection but other than that I feel perfectly normal Confused

TwittleBee · 05/11/2018 13:36

oh that is such a massive worry HchyScott but I am sure as you haven't noticed the blood in your urine then if it is anything sinister then it has been caught early! Also those tests are so super sensitive so you might have just a little bleeding from being knocked about, or stretching from baby growing etc

(without scaring you blood in urine can indicate cancer, by step-nan is currently having treatment for it but she left it ages before seeing a Dr about the very noticeable blood in her urine and she has been told she has a great chance of survival etc)

Laburna · 05/11/2018 13:45

Oh how worrying @HchyScott hopefully it's just going to be all clear on the next one! There will be a lot of wee samples in your future with the MW as well, they check for protein in it, isn't it a sign of kidney infections and things? Probably the most likely cause! 🤞🤞

I had a few time where I had blood present in urine in my previous pregnancies; midwife was never concerned and then by the next appointment it would have gone. With my ds2 I had large amounts present on the diptest for quite some weeks in early pregnancy then all of a sudden it went. Also had very visible blood with a urine infection this exact time last year but it was due to an infection all sorts showed up alongside it on the dip test and I had a dragging pain too when weeing so was very obvious. Get checked out but can be quite common in pregnancy.

Thank you for the welcomes 😊

TwittleBee · 05/11/2018 14:18

idk what to do girls, whether I am being really silly and worying for nothing or if I should call 111.... That pain Ive mentioned a few times is certainly getting worse now and I've just had a bit of spotting. Feel so bloody lightheaded too (but that is a side effect of no caffeine)

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 14:28

@TwittleBee I would. Just see what they say. Let us know how you get on xx

TwittleBee · 05/11/2018 14:33

thanks Frazzlerock I'll give them a call on my next break

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 14:41

Well I've just tempted fate in quite possibly the hugest most ginormous way possible and bought a couple of bits from here because the stuff was so damned cute and I'm a sucker for Instagram advertising.

gigil.com/

I'm fucked aren't I

Belmo · 05/11/2018 14:41

@TwittleBee you should never feel silly for getting checked out, even if just puts your mind at rest it’s worth it. Hope everything’s okay.

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 14:42

what am I doing! I'm only 6+2! Shock

In my defense, I'm terribly bored at work...

Belmo · 05/11/2018 14:43

@Frazzlerock I bought some (very reduced) my first Halloween outfits in Tesco yesterday! Was telling my myself it’s just sensible money saving, but I’ve hidden them in the cupboard and not told dh Blush

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 14:47

I've also forgotten how to spell defence Hmm

@Belmo oh phew, not sure me then! And No I won't be telling DP yet either!

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 14:47

*just not sure

TwittleBee · 05/11/2018 14:50

oh don't I have bought loads already Frazzlerock !

I spoke to my mum and she said not to waste everyones time as spotting and pain is normal and if I am to MC then there isnt anything anyone can do anyway

ratherbeshowjumping · 05/11/2018 14:57

Ah @Frazzlerock that website is gorgeous 😍 may have to have a little look through later.

I have already bought a blanket for the nursery 🙈

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 15:00

@TwittleBee your mum can wind her neck in. Go and get checked out lovely. Just for your peace of mind, you won't be wasting anyone's time

@ratherbeshowjumping oh good I feel even better knowing there are several of us who can't resist!

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 15:03

@TwittleBee you also want to rule out ectopic so it is better to get checked out as that can be very very dangerous

TwittleBee · 05/11/2018 15:11

Frazzlerock I will call them once I have picked up DS from my mums I think, then at least DH can look after him if I do have to go in and get checked. Will they even be able to see anything though? I will only be 4+4 ?

TwittleBee · 05/11/2018 15:26

Of course I have just done a Google and Google reckons ectopic pregnancies arent spotted till at least the 6 week mark so I guess maybe this is just a beginning of another CP Sad I need to stop coming onto the ante-natal boards so early. Although tbf a CP is better than an ectopic so silver lining

Laburna · 05/11/2018 15:30

Or @twittlebee you are all fine and worrying about nothing at all. There are already several people on here who've had spotting in various forms and it all been fine!

Try not to panic, I know it's hard not to go to worst case scenario, it's exactly what I do, but please go get checked, they'll be able to see what's happening and until you do you won't know what is happening.

HchyScott · 05/11/2018 15:48

Thanks for all the reassurance ladies, been and registered at new doctors and they’ve put me on temporary so they can send my urine sample off tomorrow rather than waiting the two weeks for all my medical records to be transferred. Now I really have to sit and relax a chillll after being upset by the stupid doctor today and worrying myself silly. I’m on the right road!
@twittlebee definitely get checked Hun even just for your own piece of mind! Hope it ends up being nothing but stretching. Keep us updated x

TwittleBee · 05/11/2018 15:48

Laburna you are right, I am just freaking out and having one of those days! Doesn't help when I have come off my anxiety meds so feeling it all on top of me. Prenatal team want to see me friday at least to discuss how to manage anxiety during pregnancy etc. I'll get checked out thursday if it is still really bad. DH said thursday be best because then he can have DS whilst I go along. Hopefully I wont need to though.

Sorry again everyone for this

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 15:50

@TwittleBee you don't know that yet! And if you go and get checked out, then you will find out either way. I totally understand the worry, I'd be the same in your shoes. But please just get checked and no more googling!
