Oh yes totally agree they are useless - the only benefit to them is them being able to book in an out of hours doctors appointment. That's good if gone brown now. How are you feeling?

Frazzlerock · 04/11/2018 18:08

@Brainfried1986 ahh that's so exciting! We've also booked a scan for next Sat when I'll be 7 weeks (or maybe more if I go by ovulation??)
Just to say about taking DC in to scans, (and this isn't a pretty story) when I was 9 weeks pregnant with my 3rd pregnancy I had a tiny bleed but went to my local EPU just for a reassurance scan. I had no choice but to take the DC as it was half term (I had no reason to believe things would go the way they did as I was told bleeding a bit is normal). DP had already gone to work but came back and met me there. I got up on the bed ready to be scanned (with DP by my side) and the DC were waiting the other side of the curtain. Our baby's heart had stopped beating only three days before. All I could hear (when I was slowly getting dressed - and in complete shock) was DC2 excitedly telling the midwife that he was having a baby brother or sister. I was a wreck, and we all had to somehow bus it back home. I never wanted the DC to find out that way.
Now, I would never ever take them to a scan. But that is just my experience. Sorry if it puts a downer on things but I just wanted to let you know so you can make an informed decision xx

Frazzlerock · 04/11/2018 18:10

@TwinkleDay if it keeps going brown then I sounds like it's not something to worry about but I do agreee with others that you should go and get checked out. Can you go to the EPU tomorrow morning?

Laburna · 04/11/2018 18:13

When I was further along with my first (30ish weeks) I had what they thought was an old bleed present. Turned out to be the start of my plug coming out, but that's another story 🤣

The Dr I saw said that while bleeds in pregnancy weren't 'normal' as such, they were common, and a third to half of women experience them at some point. He then had a good root round up there using a torch you would usually buy from Halfords! Pregnancy basically involves leaving all dignity at the door!

Don't forget to do your Kegels ladies!

In other exciting news, I've done a ham in the slow cooker and a massive vat of Ragu....and so far only managed to eat a handful of cardboard crackers 🤢🤢

Laburna · 04/11/2018 18:16

Sorry that was all disjointed and very random!

Belle2008 · 04/11/2018 18:29

Hope all is ok twinkle xx

StargazyDrifter · 04/11/2018 18:38

Oh TwinkleDay so sorry to hear, such a worry. My own obsessive reading of MN tallies with Capybaras' - it's not necessarily the worst news. It really unsettling though and I've been there myself. If you have an EPU nearby could you go for a walk-in scan tomorrow? Sending you good vibes and crossing my fingers.

Capybaras If you have other dates, like ovulation, you might want to have a play with the BabyMed pregnancy calculator online. Worked for me and was more accurate than LMP as I have very irregular cycles.

StargazyDrifter · 04/11/2018 18:45

Laburna your post did make me laugh out loud! 🔦

Have also been hiding from food smells, although eating it is better than smelling it, it's turned out.

Very exciting about the early scans!

Brainfried1986 · 04/11/2018 18:51

@Frazzlerock That sounds like such a horrible experience 😢 I have to say I do dread having a scan and there being no heartbeat, I guess all I can do is keep hoping for the best. My son is only 15months so doesn’t have any idea about what’s going on just yet - tho he has just learned to say ‘baby’ which is incredibly cute! I would get someone to look after him when we go for the scan, but that would more or less mean telling my parents and I don’t really want to share the news to our families until after the scan.

TwittleBee · 04/11/2018 19:40

Oh TwinkleDay hope everything is okay and bleeding really isn't necessarily bad news. Get yourself checked out for sure. Have you been assigned a MW yet? Maybe give her a call or text?

I've also got an early scan Brainfried1986 on the 29th and also have a son that age (Well technically 17 months) who we will be taking. I'm pretty sure he will have no clue what's going on.

Just threw up in from of my BIL and he had previously spotted me not drinking tonight. He will so know what's going on as my sister is pregnant. Oops.

TwittleBee · 04/11/2018 20:06

Also what the f*ck is with the bloat!?! I'm a size 4/6 with a tiny waist and holy cow look at my bloated belly right now! Please tell me someone else is this bad at 5 weeks?

July 2019 very early days
StargazyDrifter · 04/11/2018 20:17

Ow TwittleBee that's bad luck with the BIL! Sounds like he was polite enough not to ask.

I've also got the bloat and it gets worse in the evenings. Have been feeling a bit fed up with it too.

Frazzlerock · 04/11/2018 20:46

I'm mega bloated too @TwittleBee
Also I think nausea has finally arrived!

I was worried earlier as my boobs had stopped hurting, but DS1 came and gave me a huge hug (he's as big as me and pretty strong!) and my right boob made me yelp!Pleased to find that yes they do indeed still smart a bit 😂

TwinkleDay · 04/11/2018 20:54

Right news update, after having a google we have been for a 2 mile walk, out for dinner and a bath and it’s all stopped. So it seems.

I blame the bloody magpie! We saw one earlier and OH say oh that’s not good 1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, 3 for a girl, 4 for a boy... so there I am frantically looking round for more birds 🦅

Also I don’t have a midwife yet and my local hospital had closed at night so 30 miles to the closest.. bloody NHS cuts. I have no cramps and I haven’t felt yuck since in the week which I shouldn’t moan about really.

Thanks for sharing your stories and kind thoughts all xxx... and @twittlebee that’s a heck of a bloat.. best chuck a sweater on before anyone twigs !!

Frazzlerock · 04/11/2018 21:52

Good news @TwinkleDay !!

I am off to bed after snoozing on and off on the sofa all arvo. I hope everyone has a restful night

Frazzlerock · 04/11/2018 21:53

Andnow it looks like I was pointing at nothing because obviously the bloody MN emoticons don't work 🙄

Laburna · 05/11/2018 03:39

yawn

I hate pregnancy insomnia, needing to get up in the middle of the night to wee, and my OH snoring.

One day I'll sleep through!

TwittleBee · 05/11/2018 04:23

Same her yawn been waking every two hours tonight and can't get back off easily each time.

Ah that does make sense and hopefully all be fine TwinkleDay ! FX. Interesting how different each area is for how they do MWs etc. I've already got one and I'm only 4wks+3 !

edidxb · 05/11/2018 05:55

Hi all. I hope everything is OK @TwinkleDay and it has all stopped.
@Laburna, I had my first night last night where it took me ages to get to sleep last night. But that is also the bronchitis which leaves me coughing and convulsing!
@TwittleBee, I don't have the bloat but I have seriously bad constipation! I need a plan of action for it ASAP. I haven't had as many fruit and veg as normal and I haven't done any exercise as I have been so unwell. But from tonight I need leafy greeens and maybe a walk. Considering going to find some prune juice too, or maybe just prunes.
If anyone has any good remedies, let me know! All-bran?

Laburna · 05/11/2018 06:59

Ended up getting up at 4:30 to get something to eat, which made me feel worse for a while, but then I fell asleep on the sofa for about half an hour around 6.
@edidxb I'm the same, I've had serious issues though not as bad as @edinburghlass1991 😉 there was a thread on the pregnancy board about it, and they said avoid too much fibre as you don't want to bulk yourself, so aim for things that help stimulate like prunes and veg. I got some fresh orange yesterday which the DR recommended for DS when he had issues but I don't think I'm eating enough for stuff to be moving well. Lots and lots of water, and then gentle exercise.
@twittlebee that's an impressive bloat! You won't be hiding the pregnancy for long like that! It's always harder when you have less body coverage...was it you who said DH packed a whole packet of wafers for lunch? You might need to start leaving trails of chocolate wrappers about so people think you are just over indulging! 😂

Brainfried1986 · 05/11/2018 07:06

@Laburna Sounds like a bad night - I had a bit of it too, awake for about an hour between 2 and 3. It’s so infuriating! I know I’m tired and hate to be wasting my precious moments of sleep!!!

amanda2809 · 05/11/2018 07:25

Oh I hope I don't suffer with pregnancy insomnia this time. With my son I saw 3.33am every night and then laid awake for 1-2 hours. Killer!

For constipation, try the Ella's Kitchen (baby food) prunes pouch!

Nausea has kicked in this morning, not too bad just a constant mild morning sickness type feeling. Not looking forward to the train to work, it's rammed and smelly.... Wish me luck !

ratherbeshowjumping · 05/11/2018 07:40

@TwittleBee that's very impressive!!! I'm a size 6 too & look similar, although not quite thaaat much!
Ella's kitchen pouches look like a good one to try. I've been trying to eat as much fruit & veg as possible but nothing is moving mine. It also feels quite hard?

MummyG82 · 05/11/2018 07:42

@edidxb I feel for you. I didn't go at all over the weekend but had a good hearty Sunday roast at my mil with loads of veg n haypresto I've gone this morning (Sorry tmi!) Lol. Be careful will allbran though, I'd double check as I'm sure I read that it has lots of iron and too much fibre, these combined can be bad for you if you have to much! Good luck n if you find any other solutions let me know!! X

Frazzlerock · 05/11/2018 08:34

Morning all.

I seem to have both issue re digestive system. If it's not one it the other. I'm currently chowing down on a big bowl of fruit and fibre at the office. I have also armed myself with a box of prunes and apricots.

The nausea I had yesterday afternoon seems to have gone. So I'm wondering if (once again) I imagined it.

@amanda2809 good luck with the train journey. Do you have a Baby on Board badge yet? I'm using mine from my MMC. I started using it immediately. I seem to remember they take weeks to arrive if you order one which is ridiculous as you feel worse in the early weeks and need a seat!

How are you today @TwinkleDay?

@Laburna here here to pregnancy insomnia. It's a killer! And all those mad dreams when you do finally get to sleep. What's that about!?
I've had bonkers dreams every single night.
