Welcome BunnyBaby!! We do chat rather a lot on here dont we!!

Hooray for you Loopy!!!! At long effin' last!!!

littleoldme · 28/06/2007 13:49

Welcome Bunny - You're due the same day as me I've crashed the Dec thread a couple of times - hedging my bets.

Loopy - that's great news . Glad I'm not the only one who's a little machiavellian when it comes to child care.

RG Is your scan really not till hte end of July. Seems late.

Feeling sick today. have just guzzled really salty chips and sugary tea. that is good for you isn't it

Choudru - no way I'm going to make it Yoga. We are going away this weekend so I've got to stay home and mark * papers.

geekInPigtails · 28/06/2007 13:56

Hello again. Really, you all talk too much, how am I possibly expected to keep up?!

Loopy, that's such a pain about your scans. When I went for my 12 week scan and sat down with the midwife afterwards to talk through it, she mentioned the 20 week scan so I was able to tell her then that we were away on holiday between 19 and 21 weeks. So she wrote that down somewhere, and lo and behold a few weeks later I got the letter for my next scan, set for the day after we got back from hols. I was quite impressed actually. So I know everywhere is different, but have you tried (or could you try) telling them that you're away in August before they attempt to book another appointment for you? Rather than having to go through the cycle all over again...

Pixiefish, re names, we have the same dilemma at the moment - DH's and my first names start with the same letter, plus quite a few of the suggestions I've come up with so far DH doesn't particularly like. I'm actually feeling quite daunted about the prospect of giving this person a name they'll have to live with all their lives and that may well shape the way other people think of them!!!

Lizzie and Loopy, thanks for the shopping tips. As this is my first, we're having to get everything from scratch (though I still hoping to scrounge from friends as much as buy) - at the moment I'm just building up an increasingly huge shopping list, and haven't actually had time to get anything yet! My lame excuse is that we need to sort the room out first so we've got somewhere to put the stuff we get

geekInPigtails · 28/06/2007 13:58

Oops, really must remember to refresh the page when I've spent ages typing, before actually posting! Loopy, glad the scan is sorted now!

RGPargy · 28/06/2007 14:06

littleoldme - yeah i cant remember the exact date (haven't had my letter through yet) but i know it was when i was 22 weeks, rather than 20 weeks. i have no idea why!

RGPargy · 28/06/2007 14:17

I have just double checked and my appointment is 26th July at midday. When i asked why it was when i was 22 weeks, she said it was because they have found 22/23 weeks to be the optimum time for anomoly scans. It does seem like AAAAGES away tho!!

I have updated the scan list.

you be as anal as you want RG

Think we all get a bit hormonal and anal when up the duff

littleoldme · 28/06/2007 18:01

Phew - just come back from a rant on the Dec thread. Someones mw has told them they could end up with mastitis if they wear underwire bras after 16 weeks. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
No info about wearing bras that fit properly or anything. Gets right on my t*ts , if you'll excuse the pun.

lizzieO, no idea why I have delivered early each time. I have the perfect pregnancy till I start having contractions then its all speed ahead. With dd2 I have threatened preterm labour from 28 weeks, but delivered at 33 weeks, I was in hospital for 3 weeks from 28 weeks where I kept having contractions, I was told I have an irritable womb.

it means that my womb contracts even when not in labour, with dd2, the triggers were sex, walking up stairs, walking distances, getting stressed, picking up dd1 ( who was only 14 months at the time) So far I have had about 5 or 6 epsoises of my womb contracting.

Hi everyone

I have just had to start wearing maternity trousers as my jeans have suddenly got too tight and have spent all day hoiking them up. I nearly flashed my Tesco Delivery Man today .

Who was it who was going to but white mat jeans - was it you SGC.

I've been in mat bottoms for about four weeks although that is more to do with the carb cravings than anything else

RGPargy · 28/06/2007 20:01

All my ordinary trousers still fit as they were massive round the waist anyway (i have large thighs and have to buy bigger sizes to fit them).

I do worry about what i'm going to wear when i get bigger tho as you dont really get many places that sell plus size maternity clothes, because no one plus size could possibly get pregnant, right??

jetgirl · 28/06/2007 20:29

it's been busy here! Hello to all the new ladies who've joined us.

Rg and MrsJ- I have the utmost admiration for anyone moving house at all, let alone when pg. Our housebuying experience 4 years ago was so stressful that I don't ever want to do it again; or only when I've won the lottery and that will make it easier! Good luck with everything.

geekinpigtails - what we discovered was brilliant was a baby bath we bought in mothercare which was shaped to support the baby which gave us much more confidence when bathing a tiny newborn. it was £15, but money well spent we thought. A couple of sleeping bags are brilliant too as you don't want to faff with sheets and blankets after a 2am feed. Oh and a huge supply of maternity pads esp for the first few days, they stick fine in the paper knickers and then you just chuck the lot - bad for the environment I know but I do use washable nappies

Just read that back, the washable nappies are my dd's not mine!!

Dd and I have made chocolate krispie cakes today, I add sultanas and raisins to make them healthy! George has requested them specially for when he pops round tomorrow
