hello again everyone - i've had a busy couple of weeks so just catching up on all your news. Congrats to everyone who's had nice straightforward scans and lots of nice thoughts to those who've had less easy ones. We should hear back this week (fingers crossed) about all our blood tests = slightly nervous as a friend who is 9 days ahead of me has just received a high risk ds result and she is finding it all pretty difficult.

My belly is STILL just porky looking, rather than pregnant looking, although i can feel the hardness underneath now at last! No movements yet but we heard the heartbeat when i was getting my bloods done which was really lovely.

To everyone talking about getting weepy - I am not generally too bad, but if something upsets me, BOY does it upset me!! I still have a headache today after a crying session which lasted all afternoon yesterday! Few and far between tho which is lucky otherwise i'll be a nervous wreck by 40 weeks!

Can someone tell me what DS/DH/DD stand for? I've worked out what they mean (sorry I am a chat virgin) but not sure what they ACTUALLY mean....if you see what i mean!!

Phew! all for now (if you haven't all fallen asleep half way through!)

On another subject entirely......is anyone other than me in the position of having to move house before the baby is born? argh. it's driving me round the bend! v stressful - hard to find anywhere i like and which is big enough for us all...we're in a teeny weeny house at the moment which i really like but out bedroom isn't even big enough for a cot as well as our bed

RGPargy · 23/06/2007 17:19

Hi Ara

DH = Dear Husband
DP = Dear Partner
DD = Dear Daughter
DS = Dear Son
DC = Dear Children

Yes, i am in the middle of moving house too at the mo. We are on the verge of exchange and although there's only three of us in the chain, the stupid woman at the top of the chain has changed the dates THREE times now and it's driving me MAD!!! First we were all moving on 29th June, but then she couldn't get packed in time so she changed it to 6th July. Not ideal but only a week later. Now today the agents have told me that she wants to move on the 9th July, which is the Monday after!! FFS!!!!! I moaned big time at the agents and said she should get her bloody finger out and pack up the house around working, like the rest of us have to do!!

Anyway, rant over!!

ara · 23/06/2007 17:32

Thank you RGPargy

You poor thing - I hope things get moving soon for you!!!! We won't have the chain thing, being in Scotland, but we do have these bloody awful 'offers over' systems which mean we could bid forever and never get anything, sob! that's what yesterdays hysterics were about!!

anyway, hopefully by Nov we will be in and settled somewhere. that's the plan anyway!

Our current house is so small we literally don't have anywhere to squeeze anything else in...so new baby purchases are pretty much out until we can move.

littleoldme · 23/06/2007 17:35

RG - Sounds like a dark alley and piece of 2 by 4 would sort i out. I don't ususally condone violence but she is being a pain

I really feel for the both you. I'm finding decorating our stairwell enough of a PIA without moving as well.

ara · 23/06/2007 17:39

good plan littleoldme!! i am a bit worried i will finally have a pregnnt tummy by the time we get to move and i won't be able to do decorating etc....knowing me i will want to get stuck in and i am the diy part of the equation --DP not that way inclined at ALL!!!!!

RGPargy · 23/06/2007 17:39

lol @ littleoldme I think in this case you may be right about the violence thing

Dont even start me on decorating!!!

ara · 23/06/2007 17:43

right, i'm off to make a shepherds pie for DP when he gets home after a 13hr day - poor thing!! feeling bit guilty as i've even been back to bed this afternoon! back soon

Pixiefish · 23/06/2007 18:11

We are hoping to extend but that won't be for a long while yet

Just got our test results for ds, sb etc and all low risk - nice feeling

choudru · 23/06/2007 18:38

Ara - you are not alone. We are supposed to be moving in the next month or 2 - am dreading packing etc.

Feeling tired at the thought...

Why we decide to take so much on when pregnant I do not know!

RGPargy · 23/06/2007 18:39

Nice one Ara!!

ara · 23/06/2007 18:42

yay! thanks RGP, i'm really chuffed as we had a conversation earlier in the week when we disagreed about what we might do if they were positive so it's great.

have finally done my profile but don't have a pic of my unborn scanned yet...i'm going to try this week!

ara · 23/06/2007 18:43

RGPargy · 23/06/2007 19:50

looks really nice too Ara!!!

Pixiefish · 23/06/2007 20:20

Lovely Ara. Our gardens are so hard to keep down plus being pg I can't doa lot, especially trying to keep an eye on dd at the same time

jetgirl · 23/06/2007 22:08

Good luck on Tuesday Anna, will be thinking of you.

The scan pics are so clear, I never get bored of looking at them, each one is a little miracle.

I cried about Stingray's death too, and I knew it was coming as one of my students told me weeks beforehand.

The hormonal thing is a pain sometimes, I cooked a lovely meal the other night, a quorn and lentil mince pie topped with sliced potatoes and cheese. I was so hungry and looking forward to it, as I was serving up I thought it smelled a bit meaty, got dh to check it (I'm veggie, he isn't) and it was indeed beef. The portion of bolognese sauce I had frozen a few weeks ago was not mine, but dh's and I had gone to a lot of trouble to bulk it our so it would feed the 3 of us (well I added a few bits which didn't take that long, but it felt like a lot of trouble at the time!) So I sat and sulked while dd and dh tucked in. At least dd said it was nice so that made me feel better. When I got over my strop I cooked a bowl of pasta and drenched it in butter. Couldn't be arsed to do anything more complicated and had used up loads of other stuff cooking dinner. I have now invested in freezer labels to avoid a similar situation in the future!

At least I had a store of fresh cream eclairs in the fridge to keep hunger at bay and keep my calcium levels up too!

AnnainNZ · 23/06/2007 22:19

Thanks (again) for all the good wishes ladies.

I haven't been too hormonal in the second trimester but I had a few moments in the first. I work in a pre-school and one day when I was about 10 wks pg (and feeling v sick) a little boy (about 18 months old) threw a plastic block in a random direction and it happened to hit the side of my head. I nearly burst into tears as I thought he had done it on purpose and didn't like me!

I did tell myself to get a grip

jetgirl · 23/06/2007 22:30

So, do teachers have babies in November more than any other profession? There are a lot of us here! Is it because we will get most of the school year off?!

Pixiefish · 23/06/2007 22:39

I'm only doing supply Jetgirl so it won't affect me at all. i had dd in january adn was off till the following September
