Oh fair enough - yes they do check at abdominals to see if it’s open or closed! Like I said this was specifically to measure length owing to my history - horrible internal probe! But the consultant was lovely. They’d also generally routinely refer for a cervical measuring scan I think if you had a pre term birth or history of miscarriage later in pregnancy.

Obviously hoping this is just additional monitoring and nothing comes of it - it was nice long and so no issues currently.

Since2016 · 03/09/2018 18:33

@yakadee yes one sonographer has mentioned cysts on mine (PCOS) but only the once. I think it varies - some mention things others don’t etc... generally if there is an issue someone will say, but that’s also what the 20 week scan is for to capture anything!

Cheery1 · 03/09/2018 18:47

Eek, I can’t keep up! Bit late but @powkin that’s great news, hope you can relax a bit soon xxx

Lookingforadvice123 · 04/09/2018 08:00

lanalawr no annoyingly I joined N Cardiff thinking it my was my nearest as there's a branch on Thornhill Rd, not realising the main bit is on Excalibur Drive!

You definitely have to have specific internal scans to measure cervical incompetence accurately as I paid £££ for one in my last pregnancy (paranoia, no risk factors). They can measure it abdominally too but I don't think it's 100% accurate, but then if you have no risk factors there's no reason to suspect anything's wrong (tell that to 2015 me!).

Hello I am 15+5 today and this morning I felt what was possible movement from baby..
From what it felt like it was like little pokes in my lower belly.. like pop corn popping or a little muscle spam haha I don’t really know how to describe it. Since then I haven’t had any more flutters or feelings down there so not to sure if it was baby?
I am a first time mum and not to sure what it should feel like it?

Any advice lol

AliceRR · 04/09/2018 09:18

@Alicejj8x That sounds like what I experienced. Think it is baby! First time was over a week ago and then it didn’t happen again until about a week later and that was days ago.

I’m hoping to feel more movement especially as I’m still paranoid about having hit myself in the belly!!

I’m 17+2 now so was probably about the same time as you that I first felt it

Alicejj8x · 04/09/2018 09:44

@AliceRR
Ah thank you so much :) I am hoping it was little baby starting out kicking and moving it was so strange and something. I haven't felt before :)

Ahh how lovely :) and I am sure baby is happy in there have you been checked or anything since hitting yourself in the tummy? X

Baby160P · 04/09/2018 10:02

@Alicejj8x I had similar but don't believe it to be baby after what I read about anterior placenta. Hoping mine will move as I grow as it wasn't anterior at the private scans.

When's your 16 week app?

AliceRR · 04/09/2018 10:06

@Alicejj8x It’s lovely isn’t it.

I called the MW and she said she thinks it’s fine as everything is well cushioned and snug in there. She just said to call if I have pain requiring paracetamol or bleeding.

And I did lots of anxious googling and MNetting and it sounds like little bumps shouldn’t cause an issue as people have fed accisents and falls etc and baby is usually ok...

But I still worry!

I have 16w appointment on thurs so maybe she can reassure me and maybe listen to heartbeat 💗

CarlyJayne1987 · 04/09/2018 11:21

Thought I'd update from us..

Team blue !

Easy ride I've been told with boys lol!!

How's everyone's sickness??

What's the 16 week appointment about?

Yakadee · 04/09/2018 11:48

@CarlyJayne1987 - congratulations! A lovely boy. I have a 2.5yo boy and he's awesome! I won't be finding out until 2 weeks today what this little tinker is! Can't wait.

My 16 week appointment was quite quick, checked blood pressure, has a chat about my scan etc and his I'm feeling. She did try listen to the heartbeat but most don't so that as standard anymore x

Alicejj8x · 04/09/2018 11:50

@AliceRR it really is

Ahh glad they said it was all okay :)

Ahh I have my 16w appointment Thursday tooo :) I've been told they will listen to the HB so can't wait for that even thou I have a Doppler at home lol

Alicejj8x · 04/09/2018 11:51

@Baby160P
Oh no really!!

It's this Thursday :) x

AliceRR · 04/09/2018 11:52

@Alicejj8x I hope she will listen to heartbeat but I will be stressed if she can’t find it (I have heard sometimes it is difficult to find which is why they don’t always do it)

We can compare notes on Thurs!

Alicejj8x · 04/09/2018 11:57

@AliceRR I reckon she'll be able to find it easy :)
Yes defo can't wait for Thursday now lol

Baby160P · 04/09/2018 12:55

Mines tomorrow, ive heard hey may struggle to hear it but I've warned OH we are going for a private scan Thursday if they don't 🙈

Alicejj8x · 04/09/2018 13:49

@Baby160P
Oh really!! We FX you can hear it and haha yes I don't blame you lol

We've been lucky to find baby's heart beat at home since 11 weeks but it'll be nice for the Mw to find baby as then I'll know I'm defo doing it right if you get me lol

Baby160P · 04/09/2018 14:13

@Alicejj8x yes I get that! So worrying isn't it.

Baby160P · 04/09/2018 14:15

Free gift pack from boots with the Emma's Diary app. Although I didn't have to show anything. Just asked if they had any whilst shopping!

Yakadee · 04/09/2018 14:16

Have any of you northern ladies been for private scans that are reasonable? I only want 2D. I've seen a few but they all seem quite pricey for what you get - tgaxxx

Yakadee · 04/09/2018 14:17

(When I say Northern I mean West Yorkshire type area - I'm in Halifax) xx

Since2016 · 04/09/2018 14:46

AliceRR · 04/09/2018 14:50

@Yakadee I’m in Leeds/Bradford I haven’t had a private scan yet although thinking about a 2D one. There are some deals on groupon for different kinds of scans. Can’t vouch for any of them.

Yakadee · 04/09/2018 14:56

@AliceRR - Yeah I have seen a few and find they are quite expensive or on a day we can't do! I'm sure I'll find something x

AliceRR · 04/09/2018 14:59

@yakadee I’ll let you know if I see any good deals! I meant we are thinking of 3D/4D(?) not 2D, but later on. I think they recommend 26-30 weeks...
