Hi ladies!
Sorry in advance for the short post and lack of personal responses - had a heck of a day at work. I'm writing reports too ejt! Spent all day muddling round with figures to meet targets and testing. Had staff meeting till gone six then returned home to a poorly Dd . I'm knackered!!
Good luck to those with scans tomorrow, we're almost all done aren't we?
Hopefully I'll have a bit more time to chat tomorrow!

karlou · 12/06/2007 02:06

Hi all - just thought I'd pop on to say I haven't abandoned you! I've been really busy, my in-laws were away last week which meant I had to walk the girls to school (it's nearly 2 miles and I don't drive). I'm a volunteer classroom assistant 3 mornings a week and a dinner lady so I was at the school every day and had to walk home - unfortunately it's uphill on the way back. I don't know if any of you know Gold Hill (in the Hovis advert) but that's one of the hills I can choose to walk up - and they're all as steep! So I've been knackered! I've also had an assignment to complete - I'm doing the teaching assistant level 2 NVQ and need to post it off before I have my next assessment on Monday. Hence I'm still up finishing off! I've just got to scan it now so I've got a record and then I'm off to bed! I'll let you know how the scan goes tomorrow (actually it's today now! . Many congrats to everyone who has had theirs since I was last on - I've just checked and it all looks good. Good luck to inzi too!

FloriaTosca · 12/06/2007 08:49

Just this minute had some fantastic news from my friend...she was pregnant at the same time as me (edds just 3 days apart),after 12 yrs of infertiity and on her 2nd attempt at IVF; just as I got the all clear result for Robyn and then lost her, she got a positive for Downs result for her little boy..we went through a hell of a lot together last September! They decided to keep him (probably because of the torment and grief I was suffering at the time..we didnt know about my blood clotting disorder and thought the amnio had killed my normal baby when ironically the more dangerous CVS hadnt harmed her ds baby )Joshua was born 2 weeks early in January this year, but last month was diagnosed with a heart problem (something about a return valve that should have shut off at birth), anyway he very suddenly started having breathing problems on the Sunday before last while they were on holiday in Devon, the local A&E hadnt got a paediatric unit to treat him so he was blue lighted to Poole and stabilised, then ambulanced to Southampton with heart failure and fluid on his lungs; they operated on Wednesday and he recovered so quickly that he came home on Saturday! Already he is a different child, at 20 wks rolling over for the first time, wanting to play all the time and not wanting to go to bed anymore, actually acting like a normal baby of his age!! I'm so thrilled for her and her DP, they must have been scared witless! It would have been too dreadful for words if they had lost him now after all the soul searching, moral agonising and physical problems they have suffered to have him,...I'm just so happy for her I needed to tell you all.

that is such great news Florai - our DS has a heart condition and I can only imagine the hell they went through. so so pleased the op went well. have a good day.

MrsFish · 12/06/2007 09:32

That is good news

HonorMatopoeia · 12/06/2007 10:34

That's brilliant news Floria , how wonderful that they can see such a difference already!

WinnieThePooh · 12/06/2007 10:58

HI all,

Sorry I have not posted for a while. Had a migraine all yesterday and up for 3 hours with DD last night a she was complaining of a sore bottom. Took her to the docs at 9am and he prescribed some cream for her, she is now at school.

Glad to hear you friends good news Floria. Good luck to Karlou and Inzi with your scans today and also to Polarmummy and Pheebe for tomorrow.

My LO seems to be very active at night when I am trying to sleep. DD just loves the thought of having a little sister and kisses my bump when she gets up in te morning and as she gpoes to bed at night. She also sometimes singd Twinkle twinkle to the bump.

Right, I better go and get some housework done as I did not get anything done yesterday.

Take care all.

Apricott · 12/06/2007 13:22

Hello again everyone,

Just have time to pop in and let you know I'm still alive! It seems ages since I was on here last. We were away for a few days, then I had 187 exam scripts to mark so I've been out of general circulation for a while. Plus, I've had my MIL staying. It's been a very busy time! There's no way I'm going to have time to catch up on the thread. I'll just have to jump back in and take it from here.

Hope you're all well. I'm suddenly looking decidedly pregnant. People feel confident enough to ask me without just thinking I'm putting on weight, which is nice.

Anyone got any hot tips for pg swimwear? I can just stretch my costume over my bump at the moment, but will need something more suitable soon. Are there any nice ones around??

A x

Pheebe · 12/06/2007 13:47

Hi Appricott

Just a quickie as we're off swimming!! I have a lovely cosie that I got from mothercare. its dark blue and spotty with loads of room for growing bump. i wore it right up to the week before I had DS. Best of all the dark colour and the spots disguised my postbump overhang which never quite seemed to go away

Right we're off. Catch up with everyone later

MrsFish · 12/06/2007 14:43

Apricott - I bought a nice two piece from mothercare for my hols in red white and blue this one it's worth starting there

Pheebe · 12/06/2007 16:01

OO thats nice mrs fish and the stripes would go nicely with my stretch marks

Pheebe · 12/06/2007 16:11

Hmm, just been catching up elsewhere. There's are thread about 'unwanted visits from inlaws after the birth' in the pregnancy topics and I have to say I'm quite shocked at how militant some people are about keeping the in laws at arms length.

Dh would be really hurt if he weren't allowed to share at least some of that special time with his parents and his sisters.

Does anyone else think this 2 week exclusion rule is weird?

MrsFish · 12/06/2007 16:19

I wanted to show off ds asap, plus the help from family and friends was great

Pheebe- I think the 2 week thing is a bit strange- but each to their own. I had the whole blooming family and extended family over the first day out of hospital- and I'd only been in 1 night- when I had my DD. TBH I think you are so high when you have just given birth that you feel great and so, for me, it was a perfect time for everyone to come over. Also it is amazing to have a truely newborn baby to cuddle. I remember my SIL was PG at the time with her first, so it was lovely for her to hold DD.

Inzi- congratulations! A lovely girl .

FloriaTosca · 12/06/2007 17:09

How wonderful Inzi!
Worth all the back pain eh?
Another little strawberry miss for the board!

nellieloula · 12/06/2007 17:11

congrats Inzi! Thats lovely news. So exciting now - my scan tmrw, and like you I can't decide whether to find out or not. Are you pleased you know now? Or is there part of you that wishes you hadn't asked??

Pheeb - I was also looking at that thread - I think if you have a great relationship with parents and inlaws, you absolutely want to show them off the minute they're born. I remember with DS wanting to have a day just the three of us - but my parents turned up for the weekend, closely followed by DH's! And then he circus began! This time round, I'm sure we'll be grateful for the help! But you realise that a birth, especially the first one, is very much an event for everyone, no matter how much you think or want it to be about you and your LO!!

We've had friends here this pm with their little girl, who is little ms feisty! My DS is so placid, I'm sure this one will be the opposite! Something to think about! Hope everyone has a good evening.

honeyapple · 12/06/2007 17:11

Apricott- what's wrong with a bikini? I have never had a maternity cossie... sound a bit grim to me- sorry- just get a nice bikini with supportive top bit. Great to get your tum out in public and be proud of it.

FloriaTosca · 12/06/2007 17:18

Pheebe I hadnt heard of the 2 week rule..to tell the truth I think it somewhat ridiculous imo... grandparents want to be among the first to see the new addition, in-laws included, as will the childs aunts and uncles..these people are the ones that will be surrounding and influencing lo for the rest of his/her life, best let them bond early too. OK there is a time and a place to draw the line..the m-i-l who wanted the new mum to stop bf because she wanted to feed the baby was going way too far..but for me my mum and m-i-l are going to be babysititng most afternoons while I dissapear into my music room to teach for an hour or two at a time...I need them to bond asap!

Honeyapple - depends whether you have stretchmarks from a previous preganancy, if I did I would want to hide them. I am very lucky that I don't have to. Also I read that it is not good to bare your bump directly to the sun, hence why I wear a tankini, not sure how true that is though

OOO its me and polar tomorow. Nerves are starting to kick in now, sooo glad DH will be there too. He's taking us both out to dinner afterwards...hopefully we'll feel like celebrating.

congratulations inzi fab news. I'm now convinced this ones a girl too. How scary!!

j20baby · 12/06/2007 19:25

inzi - congrats! another girl is great, if we ever all meet up the boys will be spoiled for choice for girlfriends!

can't remember who said what but...

i suppose its a matter of choice, as i won't have any in-laws it wont affect me, and i don't suppose my parents will be that bothered about coming round either, although if i did have and they where i would get help where i could but i suppose some people just want to spend time with their new baby, dh's and other dc's.

i haven't been swimming while pg so haven't needed swimwear, but going away for the weekend in July so will have to get something.

thanks to everyone for telling me off, its nice that people even care

however, i've maybe been doing a bit too much yesterday and today, but my adrenelin is going at the moment, don't know why! i finished work yesterday, came home, put the lo's wardrobe and chest of drawers together and cleared the kitchen, and today, i've been getting the kitchen fitted(bloody cowboys ) and couldn't go out, so i put the border up in the lo's room and then cleaned up after the workmen, but they are coming tommorrow to do the tiling, so will be stuck in for another day! i need to put everything away in the kitchen, but am tired now, so will do that tommorrow, then i promise i will rest

i've got an antenatal check up with the doctor on thursday so i should find out my test results to see what the protein was in my urine.

hi to everyone, and good luck for the scans tommorrow
