@1stTimeTina this is an amazing pregnancy symptom. It hasn't happened to me but it is a defence mechanism, it's also the theory behind morning sickness.
Because undercooked meat can be dangerous to pregnant ladies, our bodies develop an aversion to them!

Like I say, it's not based on science but more anecdotal and doesn't happen to everyone! But our bodies are just fab aren't they!

LittleKitty1985 · 02/08/2018 18:23

Hi everyone! I'm 10+3, although I also have quite the belly going on! My cat won't stop kneading it, I'm sure he knows I'm pregnant!

Powkin - I also work in Hackney, perhaps we can be pregnancy pals? Smile

Yakadee · 02/08/2018 18:24

@1stTimeTina - I love meat. Have a bit of a thing for a roast beef dinner lol. Crazy how different everyone is x

LittleKitty1985 · 02/08/2018 18:24

@powkin - sorry forgot the tag!

powkin · 02/08/2018 18:33

@LittleKitty1985 - that would be lovely! I’m 10+4 and also born in 85! I work in the London Fields area 3 days per week, tower hamlets one day and live nearish to Stratford in Newham. I’m at Homerton Hospital for all my baby stuff! As I know Hackney so much better than Newham I feel way more comfortable and confident there, especially with friends nearby.

5Makes9 · 02/08/2018 18:41

@1stTimeTina - yep I went off meat pretty quickly. My appetite for it is coming back now but I still can't manage a normal sized portion.

I've got my scan in the morning - has anyone else got a scan tomorrow?

LittleKitty1985 · 02/08/2018 18:41

@powkin - yeah same, homerton is a great hospital, the free antenatal classes they offer sound good, are you going to book any NCT ones too?

twiglet · 02/08/2018 18:54

I've gone off fish and have been pescatarian for 20 years up until a few days ago as I've been craving meat despite not eating it in 20 years! Only having small amounts mostly of chicken.
I think it's because of having lower protein due to me only wanting beige food...... I managed a lentil salad and a chiken/quinoa salad for dinner so trying to be good!
Hoping my love if fish will come back soon!

powkin · 02/08/2018 18:58

@LittleKitty1985 - I was planning to book the free ones after my scan on week 13 as it said to wait until then (I might try moving it forward a week if I can! Worth asking!).

I was thinking about trying the Bump and Baby Club classes. I heard about them on TV and thought my OH might meet some similar dads (it’s a bit ‘cool’ but he works in the creative industries). I’m a bit of a London twat (love my overpriced hipster coffee!) but I’m not a super cool Londoner either so wondering what the mix of people is like.

LittleKitty1985 · 02/08/2018 19:14

@powkin - (googles bump and baby) ooh that looks really good, thanks for the heads up! I like that it promotes an evidence-based approach.

AliceRR · 02/08/2018 19:22

@1stTimeTina I’m a bit off meat too. Not completely but definitely less drawn to it

Baby160P · 02/08/2018 20:04

@Leonora94 I'm the same! Half a jar and many a bagel!!!

I too have gone off of meat!

fizzledays · 02/08/2018 21:02

I'm massively off meat and anything healthy. My diet is very beige!! If I'm hungry enough I can eat normally but if I'm not feeling it I'm snacking and grazing. Pizza, weirdly, is my best friend at the moment!!!

Baby160P · 02/08/2018 21:09

Yeah I haven't had dinner all week either just feel poop.

Hoping I can stomach veg soon!!

Since2016 · 02/08/2018 21:33

All - strange on off slightly stabby pain in my ‘pubic’ area? It’s not a cramp - it’s like an on off ‘ow’ pain. Stretching? Doesn’t ‘feel’ sinister...

bubblybrit · 02/08/2018 22:21

@Since2016. I get this as well and also put it down to stretching. It isn’t very painful but have the odd ouch moment. Especially when standing up or turning from side to side when lying in bed.

ValentinesBaby · 02/08/2018 22:32

Anyone know of any classes north west lancashire way? Something like aqua aerobics or yoga not like a parent craft x

ValentinesBaby · 02/08/2018 22:33

An yes I get a dull stabbing pain very low on sudden movements especially rolling in bed!

Since2016 · 02/08/2018 22:51

Thanks ladies 😌

Picklesandpies · 03/08/2018 03:32

@Since2016 I get this too - same as @bubblybrit, when I turn in bed or get up quickly from bed/sofa. I was hoping it's not that start of SPD which I had in my second pregnancy. Probably too early though!

Picklesandpies · 03/08/2018 03:38

Can I just celebrate something by the way... I wasn't sick yesterday and I ate the first full meal I've had in months (pork chops with roasted sliced potatoes and tomatoes in case anyone wants to try this miracle meal!) An actual meal - with vitamins and everything! And I kept down a glass of orange juice (I would have thought this would be way too acidic but people kept suggesting it on my other post and it worked). Oh, and I washed the hard floors downstairs! I'm not going to say that's it - morning sickness is over but it feels so good to have eaten something proper and feel hydrated for a change. Happy days!

Alicejj8x · 03/08/2018 07:31

Hi everyone :)

I'm 11
+4 today and feeling great now for the past couple days. Nausea off and on but usually in evenings.

I had a scan Monday and baby was fine in there & a heart beat of 172 so trying to remain calm and just think where I'm nearly in 2nd trimester that this is normal.

fizzledays · 03/08/2018 07:38

@bubblybrit @Since2016 I get it too!x

Alicejj8x · 03/08/2018 08:21

@Baby160P wouldn't let me comment on the other one lol

Ahh doo you!!
Woohoo not long at all
Left now then for your scan :)

Think I've woken up with a UTI so doctors it is and also a sore back :(

Notquiteagandt · 03/08/2018 08:52

@Since2016 I get this. Along with what feels like being jabbed by a knitting needle in the cervix. I did mention it in passing to the dr and got told its ligament pain. Just things moving and stretching. So long as its just a second of oohh that hurt its fine.

Our muscles go so weak in pregnancy. Ive already managed to pull all my stomach muscles and give myself a hernia.

@Picklesandpies yay to food!! I was the same. Last time I was in hospital. 1st food to pass my lips in weeks. Sat there crying. Full on tears. The nurses where all like "oh god are you ok? Whats up?" Etc. I was like you dont understand how happy I am too eat. Food. Proper food. Grin

Orange juice and grapefruits to suck on seem to be my safe food.

Enjoy being able to eat!!! 🍾
