@MelC83 I'm not sure but if it makes you feel better I had DD quite young and never knew I had to avoid things so just ate as normal and I never had a problem nor has she.

jeanzbeanz · 10/08/2018 19:35

@melc83 what would be the problem with them...?

MelC83 · 10/08/2018 19:38

I was just worried about sugar content after reading a report that they are very high in sugar so wondered if anyone else had seen anything or asked the question at all! Just first time mummy paranoia I'm sure!

MrsY87 · 10/08/2018 19:59

@MelC83 I am mainlining sweets in all forms...I've even told my nearly 4yo that refresher bars are vitamin bars so she can't have them! 😂 Lots of sugar isn't great for you in general but I don't think it will do the baby any harm in moderation!

Alicejj8x · 10/08/2018 20:10

@AliceRR
Glad everything went well x

Notquiteagandt · 10/08/2018 20:16

@MelC83 they have changed the recipie. Full of sweeteners now. Thank you jamie oliver. Was gutted. So dont think you need to worry.

Since2016 · 10/08/2018 20:30

@mrsy87 my toddler pointed at W haribo display in a shop recently and said “look mummy, mummy’s tablets!!” 😳😳😳

emalady · 10/08/2018 20:56

@since2016 😂 That's brilliant!

@MelC83 no issues with high sugar but if you have coffee in them remember to limit caffeine. I'm finding the caramel crunch with coconut milk stays down very well at the moment. Big fan!!

@bubblybrit glad I know that is a possibility. They didn't mention anything about calling but we will see. So exciting a little girl. I can't wait to find out.

MelC83 · 10/08/2018 20:56

Thanks everyone x definitely reassuring and glad I'm not the only one having lots of sweet things!

MelC83 · 10/08/2018 20:57

Thankfully I've not fancied any coffee since being pregnant even though used to be a coffee addict so having very little caffeine

Lulabell1 · 10/08/2018 21:31

Hi ladies....catching up

BUMPS yes i am 13+3 and showing nicely but this is second baby so think you do show earlier. Can depends how far forward baby is and place of placenta.

COFFEE midwife told me you can have 3 a day so i wouldnt worry about that. Maybe make them up with less coffee more milk/water if your worried.

SICKNESS i am fully over this now im sick 10 times a day sometimes melon helps? Water is a nono makes me start projecting everywhere iv lost 6kg since my first and last midwife app but i did with DD. Iv been on the drip it helps for 24hours but then back to square 1.

In general for first time mums i really wouldnt worry about all this you can/you cant to a limit. (Not trying to sound patronising) but we never had "rules" back in the day ayy!

Alicejj8x · 10/08/2018 21:31

These are soo good atm!! And when you feel abit sick these do really help .. maybe not helping my teeth lol

jeanzbeanz · 10/08/2018 22:07

Oh I'm living on sugary things! Foxes glacier mints (suggested by someone else on this group) work magic when feeling sick!

bubblybrit · 10/08/2018 22:13

@emalady. Hopefully you get your results shortly. You can then let us all know if you are team pink or team blue lol!

FrowningFlamingo · 11/08/2018 07:12

we never had "rules" back in the day you're probably right about a lot of the pregnancy rules, I've found reading 'Expecting Better' quite helpful to put the 'risks' in perspective.
But my in laws say that about a lot of child safety stuff and get cross when I show them figures of how much accidental death and childhood injury has dropped since 'their day' Grin

MakeLemonade · 11/08/2018 07:29

Is anyone still having spotting/bleeding? They couldn’t see a reason for it when they scanned me but it’s been happening for over a week now. I had two days with nothing and then woke up and went to loo and had some today. Wish it would bugger off Angry.

AliceRR · 11/08/2018 07:30

@Alicejj8x Haven’t seen those before. Are they hard sweets?

@jeansbeans I’ve been eating humbugs.

Find it’s handy to keep some hard sweets or mints in my bag for when I feel a bit nauseous

jeanzbeanz · 11/08/2018 07:54

@FrowningFlamingo I've read Expecting Better too and also found it very enlightening.

For example... We are told not to eat salami/ soft cheese because of the risk of listeria. However the last listeria outbreaks have been from something random like melons and frozen carrots. So it's important to wash your veggies 🙂
Another fascinating thing - children whose mothers drink lightly during pregnancy (1-2 glasses of wine per day during second and third trimesters) produce more intelligent children on average.
And so on! I loved reading about WHY we're told to do certain things and whether the numbers back it up!

jeanzbeanz · 11/08/2018 07:55

Oops - post above should say "are more intelligent on average", not produce more intelligent children!

Gillings · 11/08/2018 08:09

Hi everybody. Hope everyone is having happy, healthy pregnancies. It's wonderful seeing your scan photos. Do you mind if I join you? EDD 4 February, had my first scan some weeks ago, all well so far.

I have been feeling very bloated lately with trapped wind that feels especially worse early in the morning. I have been doing regular exercise and stretch on and off to pass the wind but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. Stomach feels so tight. Any tips will be helpful. Thanks very much!

jeanzbeanz · 11/08/2018 08:19

@Gillings welcome :) I'm due 4th too!

Yakadee · 11/08/2018 08:31

Oooo so close, I got bumped to 3rd at my scan! Welcome x

Gillings · 11/08/2018 08:58

Thanks ladies x

Bluelagoon25 · 11/08/2018 09:00

@Gillings I am 4th February too.
I have been advised that peppermint tea is good, so I have been drinking that.x

Fiep · 11/08/2018 09:18
