I have a chesty cough which , does anyone know what medicines are safe? I would go to docs but we’re on holiday (still in England) x

Since2016 · 06/08/2018 09:38

I was ‘showing’ (in hindsight I wasn’t but I felt like I was!) at 20 weeks - that was the first sign. But had movement v early - 17 weeks?

Scan this am. I am so nervous I’m shaking. Definitely more nerve wracking second time round for some reason! I’m at home and meant to be working but after the demonic toddler this am and worry about the scan I’m completely distracted.

Yakadee · 06/08/2018 09:41

@Since2016 - good luck, I'm sure it'll all go fine (I couldn't get off the loo when waiting for mine - bloody nerves!) xx

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 06/08/2018 10:47

Good luck @Since2016 hope it all goes well 🤞🏼

MrsSnootyPants2018 · 06/08/2018 10:50

Have my scan tomorrow and I'm so excited!

I thought after already having a DD that initial excitement wouldn't be as big.

DragonFlew · 06/08/2018 11:13

Good luck @Since2016!

Does anyone know anything about caffeine in Lipton lemon iced tea?
Just had some without thinking - I know 1 glass is ok anyway but I love it! Has it got much caffeine?

powkin · 06/08/2018 11:14

I’m getting so impatient. Still 10 days until my scan! Have been quite calm about it but now starting to get more anxious that something will be wrong. Going through all this and then finding out there’s a problem will be devestating.

I’ve been luckier than some with sickness but had a bad 12 hours, being horrendously sick last night and again this morning. I’m so exhausted from the heat and not sleeping too. I’ve got a really nice day planned for Wednesday so hope I feel OK then, it should be cooler which I’m hoping will help!

powkin · 06/08/2018 11:20

@DragonFlew - I would think it would be lower than a normal cup of black tea so not to worry too much. Usually it is black tea extract. I took a paracetamol with caffeine the other day by accident!

jeanzbeanz · 06/08/2018 11:24

Did someone ask about UK-based pregnancy apps earlier? I'd like to try a couple of different ones (currently using Ovia but I'm not sure if all their advice is accurate according to NHS guidelines). Recommendations would be great!

AliceRR · 06/08/2018 11:29

I had the worst headache last night that I’ve had in ages. I was crying with it at one point. Couldn’t eat. Was sick after half a corn on the cob so my lovely sausage and mash dinner that DH made for me had to go in the bin. Didn’t have painkillers as my doc told me on first appointment “no medication is safe in pregnancy” although I know people do take paracetamol. I asked DH to go and get me some but then didn’t take it.

Will try 4Head - thanks for the rec.

I am just worrying about everything, being pregnant... what I have the flu?

I have a slightly red / swollen / itchy / painful thumb since Saturday. It’s either a bite or a reaction to cleaning products as I was cleaning on Saturday with bleach etc. But then I worry “what if I was bitten and it was poisonous and now in my blood? Should I be more worried about a bite because I am pregnant?” I’m not sure it even is a bite but going to the doctors is such a hassle!

AliceRR · 06/08/2018 11:36

I don’t believe it’s flu season. My runny nose could just as well be down to hay fever or a cold and my feeling weak is not that unusual!

Alicejj8x · 06/08/2018 12:02

Hope all the scans go well :)

Was gagging again this morning felt nauseous for the first time in a few days but last night was the worst I have ever felt with headach and just a general poorly feeling but I have officially reached 12 weeks Yay! Don't have my 12 week scan till next Monday thou. But had a scan this time last week and everything was perfect so hoping for the best!!

The question I wanted
To ask you ladies was about discharge!

Now I know it's normal to have that white discharge called Leukorrhea but mine seems to be crazy today! Has anyoen else experiences this?

Since2016 · 06/08/2018 12:09

Scan done! Baby was SO wriggly! Everything looking A-ok. Nuchal measurement well below low risk threshold so v relieved, obv need to wait for bloods but feeling good. Haematoma has also shrunk and looks as though it’s healing I am so pleased.

And - date has been changed to 15th Feb. So I’m now 12+3!!

Still feel wobbly I think it’s because I’ve been so stressed.

fizzledays · 06/08/2018 12:23

@Since2016 was thinking of you this morning! Mine all done too, 12+4 so 14th Feb due date, also a few days further along than I thought. Early scans didn't even compare to this, today was amazing!!
Only down side was we thought we could get harmony test done, but it's not exactly the same test. We've paid for the additional screening anyway but won't find out gender which we had thought we would for the past 6 weeks. Not a problem in reality by any stretch, just means we have to wait longer to find out!

Feb 2019 Thread 5: 12 week scans and the start of the second trimester.
Since2016 · 06/08/2018 12:25

Oh @fizzle thats wonderful news! And we’re a day apart! Congratulations!!!

Isn’t it amazing? A proper little baby!!!

MrsY87 · 06/08/2018 12:29

Great news @fizzledays & @Since2016

I've got my scan at the epu in just over and hr following the bleeding I had last week, feeling really nervous about it particularly as DH can't come and my mum is looking after DS so I'm going by myself. Keeping everything crossed it's all ok still 🤞

Jesscaar · 06/08/2018 13:03

So excited to hear about all your scans coming up, I'm still on a high from mine a week ago!
I'm resorting to hair bands on trousers this week - no visible bump, just looks like I've been enjoying a bit too much ice cream!

Lookingforadvice123 · 06/08/2018 13:11

Great news on the scans, that's a lovely pic! Mine is a week tomorrow, I know there's a few around the same time and then are we done? Is anyone end of next week?

I'm feeling rubbish with nausea/acid reflux again, since Saturday, and last night I threw up just before bed, properly! Not even just the heaving or a bit of bile, full on vom. Joy of joys.

On the plus side we are on day 3 of potty training DS 2.7 and today he has smashed it, two big wees and a giant poo on the potty! Fingers crossed he keeps it up.

SerialPlantKiller · 06/08/2018 13:28

Lovely to see scan pics. Can I check: has anyone set up a Facebook group for this group yet?

DragonFlew · 06/08/2018 13:37

@Alicejj8x yes! I nearly posted in here at the weekend about it! Mostly it's normal but on Saturday it was ridiculous!
But I asked my midwife and she said it's normal to have increased amount, it's a protective measure your body takes to stop bacteria getting up there!
Oh the joys of pregnancy!

DragonFlew · 06/08/2018 13:38

@Lookingforadvice123 I'm still waiting for my letter with a date for my scan!! Hopefully I will get it this week, and it'll be next week!

lanalawr · 06/08/2018 14:36

@AliceRR Do you usually suffer with anxiety? If you're struggling with it at the moment it might be worth speaking to someone rather than battling on alone. Colds are usually ok in pregnancy (other than not being able to take much to alleviate symptoms). You'll also be eligible for the flu jab free at your surgery because you're pregnant. Although it's not 100% effective, it's usually good at preventing the most common strains of flu.

Lovely scan news from today. I had two letters from the hospital this morning. Tests have come back low risk for Down's, Edward's and Patau's. The other letter I thought would be a date for my 20 week scan. Turns out it was about not being able to test my urine sample! Not so exciting...

Since2016 · 06/08/2018 14:47

How are you getting ready n @mrsy ?

powkin · 06/08/2018 15:16

@jeanzbeanz - I have the baby centre one which is quite good I think. I prefer it to the Bounty one anyway.

welshweasel · 06/08/2018 15:21

I’ve had my 20 week scan appointment through for the 10th sept when I’ll be 19 weeks - I’m assuming it’s ok to do it early?!
