Alicejj8x · 06/08/2018 15:23

@DragonFlew
Ah I am glad I'm
Not the only one lol!! It's bad today but not bad I need to wear anything lol but no it's there kind of thing

Yeah all my apps say about the increase in it so I'm
Hoping it's a good sign lol

AliceRR · 06/08/2018 15:28

@lanalawr I’m not sure I do usually struggle with anxiety particular. I have a stressful job but generally I don’t think anxiety is a big issue, maybe a little.

I’m definitely quite worried during pregnancy. Since I got my BFP I couldn’t quite believe I was pregnant. Then accepted that must be (have symptoms and haven’t had a period!) but feel I need to see it on scan to know everything is ok. I have googled miscarriage and MMC. I am worried but know the chances are everything will be ok. I’m 13 weeks and still waiting to have my scan but not too much longer to go...

Baby160P · 06/08/2018 15:53

So exciting seeing lovely scans, ours is a week tomorrow.

After waking at 4am 😩 and not being able to drift off until 6 I'm counting down the hours at work could literally fall asleep.

I then had my blood tests at 8am which randomly got my gagging which I never do! So strange lol

craftymum01 · 06/08/2018 16:02

Got 4 appointments through today! Consultant appointment, GTT, 16 week scan and 20 week scan. Suddenly it's all coming at once!

MrsY87 · 06/08/2018 16:10

Scan was all good, thanks for checking @Since2016 two healthy wriggly babies ❤️❤️ the sonographer was the twin specialist sonographer so she did a quick check of arms, legs, hands, feet & brains too whilst I was there and said it all looked normal for both so that's good to know ahead of Thursday. Just hoping for a low risk NT result for them both now! She could still see the area where I'm bleeding from, it's still small so shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Since2016 · 06/08/2018 16:17

Lovely news @mrsy glad all ok. There is nothing more nerve wracking than bleeding.

@alicerr I think @lana was trying to help. In the nicest way possible, going by your posts on here you do seem particularly anxious about lots of things. Pregnancy is so very stressful and having no control about a lot of it is very nerve wracking. You may not feel like it’s an issue but it may be worth having a chat with your mw as she may be able to suggest some coping strategies when you are worrying particularly about something which may help.

jeanzbeanz · 06/08/2018 16:19

@powkin thanks I'll try that one.

DragonFlew · 06/08/2018 16:29

@AliceRR it is natural to be anxious during pregnancy, it's a protection that happens to us because naturally we want to protect our growing baby.
It happened to me with my first baby, I was a shift worker but suddenly found I couldn't work nights because I randomly became hugely afraid of the dark incase I needed to get home or get help if there was something wrong with the baby - totally unlike me. But I began suffering if panic attacks and claustrophobia too. Then I began thinking that the midwives were working against me so I couldn't trust them.
Ultimately this lead to high blood pressure and I ended up being induced early as a result, I wish that I had recognised that I was suffering from antenatal anxiety and sought help - that may have stopped the high bp and baby being premature!

Not saying any of that will happen to you of course, and hopefully you'll feel better once you've seen baby on scan, but sometimes it's good to talk worries through before they esculate. X

SerialPlantKiller · 06/08/2018 16:59

@crafymum01 that is a lot! Mine are scattered all over the place to ensure maximum work disruption 😒

craftymum01 · 06/08/2018 17:06

@SerialPlantKiller I only work Monday and Tuesday and so far all four appointments have been on a Monday or a Tuesday. Luckily they swapped them when I rang which was good as I know hospitals can get a but funny about things like that. I'll need my own parking space at the hospital soon

SerialPlantKiller · 06/08/2018 17:08

Lovely news @MrsY87! So nice to get that expert reassurance too.

Lookingforadvice123 · 06/08/2018 17:29

Lovely news MrsY!

AliceR I think it's normal to be anxious in the first trimester, especially if you haven't had a scan at all. In fairness you had a little bleed didn't you, I wouldn't have been able to wait until my 12 week scan if I had!

If you continue to feel anxious after everything's fine at your 12 week scan though, please please ask for help though. I was an absolute anxious mess during my first pregnancy, it completely ruined it for me and I was really unhappy for the entire 9 months. Nothing reassured me and we spent a small fortune (around £700!) on all kinds of scans. I ended up having an early sweep too as the closer I got to my due date, the worse I was. I regret being like that as it's a long time to feel like you're not coping.

Thankfully this time around I've been pretty relaxed! Probably because I've been so ill Grin

Surprisedmom · 06/08/2018 17:50

Hi all, I hope it’s ok for me to join so late on. I had my 12 week scan last Thursday and have a healthy and happy baby due on 14/02/2019.

I have been hesitant to post on mumsnet as everything has been such a rollercoaster. I am 29, a teacher and this a completely unplanned pregnancy which my boyfriend wanted me to terminate. He became abusive and threatening (including threatening the baby) because I wouldn’t and so I have left him and ended up moving back to my parents in the Midlands. So if there is anyone else doing everything solo, or anyone who has coped with a break up during pregnancy before, i’d really appreciate any advice.

Otherwise, just hoping being part of this thread will help me stay positive.

Since2016 · 06/08/2018 17:51

I’m seriously worried about all my appts. Thankfully my next one is on Friday (which I don’t work - although this presents childcare issues) but it’s all the other scans. Hoping to be able to at least get some control over the mw appts (every 3 weeks from 16 weeks!) so I can do them at the beginning of the day.

lanalawr · 06/08/2018 17:53

I'm sorry @AliceRR. I didn't mean to cause any offence. I know someone who struggled with anxiety in pregnancy and didn't talk to anyone about it. She now says she regrets it as she couldn't enjoy much of the time. It's naturally a worrying time - a little window would help! It feels like an eternity between each appointment. Only you and those around you know if it's affecting you differently. If you do need to talk, there are places you can get support and midwives are generally good at knowing where the best resources lie.

I'm finding this pregnancy is going much quicker than my first. It must be the toddler effect! No time whatsoever to think about anything!

Claire582 · 06/08/2018 18:01

So nice to see the scan pictures and hear that everything is fine! I didn't believe I was pregnant until the 12 week scan haha despite having an early scan at 7 weeks due to previous miscarriages....
I totally get being anxious, i think it's a natural response to being pregnant and the responsibility of carrying a new life but talking about it with a midwife or others going through the same thing (such as on here!) makes you realise we are all in this together! Smile xx

Claire582 · 06/08/2018 18:03

How long did people wait to get the letter with the screening test results? It will be 2 weeks since my scan this coming Thursday and I haven't heard anything....

Fredthespider · 06/08/2018 18:07

Welcome @Surprisedmom! Sounds like you've had a bit of a rollercoaster journey so far but we're glad you've joined us! I can't help with experience, but can always offer support :)

@Claire582 I believe no news is generally good news, I was told I'd get a phone call within a week if there was a problem so fingers crossed it's all ok for you.

AliceRR · 06/08/2018 18:14

Thanks for your advice. You didn’t cause offence @lanalawr sorry if I made you think you had. I think I can manage.

I did have one instance of spotting a week ago but I think that was not an issue.

I haven’t seen my MW yet to discuss anything and that is part of the problem. I am now 13 weeks and haven’t seen anyone so haven’t been able to discuss any niggles or worries unless I actively sought medical advice.

To be fair I haven’t spent any money on early scans, which I thought about and could have done, so I have been quite good in that way!

I have been talking to friends about my pregnancy related anxieties.

Yakadee · 06/08/2018 18:17

@Claire582 - I got my letter exactly a week after my scan and was low risk. I actually rang the number on the letter after 3 days as I am a total worrier / really impatient and they told me over the phone. X

Alicejj8x · 06/08/2018 18:21

@AliceRR
I cannot believe you haven't even had midwife yet! That so bad you must be going out of your mind with worries, thoughts and questions can you get into contact with your GP?

Claire582 · 06/08/2018 18:22

Thanks @Fredthespider and @Yakadee Smile I was told they would phone within 5 days if there was a problem so I'm guessing it's fine! I'm just impatient and want to know the results! I might ring the number too...haha x

Alicejj8x · 06/08/2018 18:23

Quick question..

I am 12 weeks today according to my scan last Monday which bean measured 11 weeks spot on

I was told
To stop folic acid, vit D and metformin at 12 weeks.. now I have my 12 week scan next Monday where I'll be 13 weeks.. do u think coz I'm technically 12 weeks today I should stop them all or wait for my scan next Monday?

lanalawr · 06/08/2018 18:28

Glad I didn't cause offence @AliceRR and that you feel able to cope. It is a long wait before your appointment. I know different areas work differently but hearing about others having theirs makes me impatient for mine!

@Alicejj8x I could be wrong but I thought the advice was to take Vit D throughout pregnancy. Anyone else hears anything either way?
