I am feeling soooo horrendous today I just want to cry!! Horrific headache and just feel so so so nauseas 😩😭 taken 2 paracetamol and napped which helped with headache but I just feel so crappy. I really hope this ends soon...
Sorry, little bit of a rant x

Yakadee · 03/08/2018 21:47

@fizzledays - do you get headaches a lot? I seem to have had one every day this week. Feel pretty much normal other than that. I don't want to take tablets loads so have only taken a few. Not sure why I keep getting them? Is it a prego thing? X

fizzledays · 03/08/2018 22:05

No idea @Yakadee this is the 2nd bad one I've had in a week, that have actually made me feel sick. I don't think the weather helps honestly, but yeah maybe a preggo thing.
I'm hating taking paracetamol but I had to take 2 lots last week and 1 today, so not terrible...I'd just rather not but felt so ill.
Glad it's not just me!! 💗

Yakadee · 03/08/2018 22:12

@fizzledays - it can't be helped, I've just had some now. I'm not sleeping great either so it's probably all connected. I deco didn't have this with my first x

Picklesandpies · 03/08/2018 23:56

@fizzledays Hi, I have had three migraines so far (hasn't had one for years before that) and like you, they made me feel so sick. My gp recommended tiger balm, which I bought despite being dubious and it's actually rather nice and cooling on the temples. Teamed with paracetamol, I have also found the kool strips for heads really good. I'd never used before but without being able to roll out the big guns in terms of meds, I'd try anything! Also found that I needed to take paracetamol and have a nap ASAP as trying to wait it out was pointless. My headaches do seem to have calmed down now touch wood.

Hope you feel better soon x

Picklesandpies · 03/08/2018 23:59

Midnight question... are you all trying to sleep

Picklesandpies · 04/08/2018 00:01

Clearly I should be asleep!

Are you all trying to sleep on your left hand side or not bothering? I keep stressing when I find myself that side that I've harmed the baby in some way after what I've read (I think it was in the news a few weeks ago.) I miss lying on my right though!

powkin · 04/08/2018 00:41

Far too hot to sleep. Got home from cinema late and super hungry, had some toast and now my stomach hurts! Just had a shower to desperately try and cool down :(

FrowningFlamingo · 04/08/2018 05:46

picklesandpies I think it's only a bit later that lying on your right is an issue isn't it? I think 16wks but I'd have to check.
I've half heartedly been trying to keep to the left but in this weather I've been tossing and turning so much I'm never in one place for long so I'm not too worried!!

MrsY87 · 04/08/2018 06:10

@Yakadee &@fizzledays I've been getting headaches too, and they definitely seem worse in the heat. I'm trying to make sure I stay hydrated and have been taking paracetamol as needed as my head hurts so much sometimes I can't really function. Assuming it's just another pregnancy joy!

I've woken up with some more bleeding this morning but again it seems to have stopped so really hoping it's just the area they saw on the scan. The fact it's stopped and there are no clots or anything plus I don't have any pain is slightly reassuring. My scan at the epu on Monday can't come quick enough.

@Picklesandpies I think the research is that you should fall asleep on your left side but if you wake up in another position not to worry. I think it also relates to later pregnancy, I know Tommy's did a campaign on it late last year. FWIW I'm still sleeping on my front! Only just as my bump seems to have popped in the past few days!

twiglet · 04/08/2018 07:17

Checked my app this morning downs syndrome result says 1:24567 I'm assuming that was based on the blood test as seems like a weird number from a scan!

I'm going to have to switch sides of the bed as I always sleep on my right. I think it was only one study that said sleeping in your right was a risk but the others say sleeping on your back is the bigger risk.

fizzledays · 04/08/2018 07:32

@Picklesandpies I'll definitely try those! I've rarely gotten migraines before but yesterday definitely felt like one. It came on at work, I left a bit early because I do different hours anyway, but then was on a stupid hot train for an hour which I think is what properly tipped it. I'm feeling a bit better this morning although still zero appetite!

@MrsY87 it's crazy right? Never thought this would be something I got!

About sleeping - my sister In law got me quite a short/little maternity pillow which helps me when I fall asleep but I easily push it to the side through the night - I had a shoulder injury last year so had to learn to sleep on my back and now that's most comfortable - but not good for baby! Might need to get a bigger pillow at some stage to wedge me in hahaha!

MelC83 · 04/08/2018 07:47

Morning been a bit silent lately, morning sickness (or all day nausea!!!) has kept me too preoccupied! Just wondering if any of you ladies know what the rules are on having a bath? I know too hot is a no no but what about a reasonably cold bath and is there any restriction on how long you should stay in? Really missing having baths but finally feel my nausea may have eased enough for me to cope with it!

Yakadee · 04/08/2018 08:02

Glad I'm not the only one having headaches. Think I'm going to get some of that 4head stuff and see if that helps.

What apps does everyone use for baby / pregnancy updates? I've been using Ovia and it's been good but very American. (Talks about doula's and reveal parties etc which I'm not particularly interested in). Any recommendations for something a bit more relevant? Xxx

Yakadee · 04/08/2018 08:17

P.s don't mean to offend anyone who is interested in these things, it's just not for me x

Baby160P · 04/08/2018 08:27

4head really helps me when I get them and ice too

powkin · 04/08/2018 09:10

@MelC83 I think warm baths are ok from what I’ve read. I think it’s also a question of what you put in them, so as not to upset your delicate flaura and forna downstairs and risk an infection or ph imbalance. So a warm plain bath is ok, as is Epsom salts but maybe not in huge quantities x

DragonFlew · 04/08/2018 09:15

@MelC83 baths are fine. You don't want a super hot bath because you don't want to raise your body temperature. So normal baths or cool baths are absolutely fine!

Alicejj8x · 04/08/2018 09:30

My midwife said try to sleep on the left to train your body for later on in pregnancy from 16 weeks as the left provides a better blood flow to baby and the right can block it off or
Something

MelC83 · 04/08/2018 09:31

Thanks @powkin and @DragonFlew had a nice relaxing semi warm bath cooled me down at the time but now roasting again lol

LittleKitty1985 · 04/08/2018 09:42

@Yakadee - I use pregnancy+ and really like it; daily pregnancy tips and weekly animated info about the baby, and it tells you how big it is as a fruit, sweet or animal

Baby160P · 04/08/2018 10:36

Considering I've eaten so many bagels that I could possibly look like a bagel I went to my slimming world group today and had lost 1.5lb. Lost 3lb last week.

Have not been sticking to it. Just don't fancy meat which is unlike me or veg.

I am curious to know whether your metabolism speeds up when pregnant?

Celebelly · 04/08/2018 11:41

Advice is to sleep on either side later in pregnancy. Don't tie yourself in knots trying to sleep on your left. It's just that you should avoid going to sleep on your back. www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/pregnancy-calendar/third-trimester-weeks-29-40/sleep-position-pregnancy-qa

Celebelly · 04/08/2018 11:42

Also it's from 28 weeks onwards so no need to stress about it now!

Alicejj8x · 04/08/2018 11:57

This is what I was told to read
www.nhs.uk/news/pregnancy-and-child/mothers-sleeping-position-and-risk-of-stillbirth/

I guess it's up to every individual thou isn't it :)
