Thanks for the advice re sleeping positions. I've been sleeping on my back loads so will try to lose that habit in time for when it matters! Feel as though as lot has changed since having dd2 8 years ago. Have our dds party this afternoon - could really do without it. I've just hoovered whole house and I'm absolutely shattered now. And it's so hot!

Yakadee · 04/08/2018 12:22

@LittleKitty1985 - thanks, I'll give that one a try.

@Celebelly - I was told the same, just avoid sleeping on your back. Thankfully I'm already in the habit of sleeping on my side. X

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 04/08/2018 12:41

Ok...TMI post coming up.

Haven’t seen anyone mention these yet, but piles 🤢

I am so paranoid about this, give me the weight gain, the stretch marks, the crepe paper skin and the rectus diastasis, and all that stuff that generally comes with pregnancy... but piles are the thing that really horrify me.

I had them in previous pregnancies and I think they are returning 😳😳 suppositories say to check with doctor (EVERYTHING says that 🙄), but has anyone been told they are ok?

DragonFlew · 04/08/2018 12:59

I had my booking this morning! Did all my bloods, gave me ALL the leaflets and paperwork.
Said I should get a letter from the hospital re scan this week sometime! I've opted to have the NT scan so they do bloods and things up at the hospital at the same time.

Annoyingly they don't give anti d at my gp surgery anymore so I've got to go to the hospital for that as well! And have the 28 week bloods done up there. Its a nightmare because I live about half an hour from the hospital and obviously I've got 2 kids already so there's childcare, so frustrating the midwives can't do it at my local clinic - so much has changed since DS2.

Sorry for the rant, I have a real fear of hospitals and it always makes my bp high! So that never looks good either!

Since2016 · 04/08/2018 13:07

I got out of the habit of sleeping on my back when pregnant with DD and this time it feels uncomfortable so I’m already mostly sleeping on my left!

@cabbage I feel your pain. From 16 weeks I have midwife appts every 3 weeks as well as all of the extra scans and drs appts, I don’t like hospitals either - the irony being that I work in one 😳😂

Since2016 · 04/08/2018 14:15

@cabbage don’t know re suppositories. I had them post natally with DD. I had piles v late on and post natally last time you have my sympathies they are awful

Picklesandpies · 04/08/2018 14:22

Another piles sufferer here. I had to have one lanced the size of a cherry tomato after our last dd was born. Awful. I'd say get to the doctors and get on the lactulose ASAP. Not fun! I remember the dread of going for the first poo post baby... 😦

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 04/08/2018 14:35

On the lactulose already 👌🏼

I’ve never had external piles... internal were bad enough (and still visible).

From what I can see, suppositories are ok after the first trimester (this site might be good to refer to for various things.. www.medicinesinpregnancy.org )

I’ll keep up with other methods until then.

My other DC are 12 and 10, so it’s been a while since I’ve done this pregnancy malarkey!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 04/08/2018 14:37

@picklesandpies

That first poo... 😳😳😳 I thought everything was going to drop out!!

I felt very confident with the first wee though, everyone had told me to lean forward so as not to wee on any tearing etc. So I did that and nearly fell off the loo... the burn!!!!

They’d neglected to tell me I’d torn frontally 🙄

jeanzbeanz · 04/08/2018 14:54

Eek don't scare us first timers with these horror stories!!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 04/08/2018 14:56

I don’t see them as horror stories, they are things that are likely to happen.. I knew this beforehand and so didn’t panic when they did happen, knowledge is power 👌🏼

I’d have hated to think it was as easy as shelling peas and then panic when it wasn’t that way..

Jesscaar · 04/08/2018 14:59

I'm 13+3 today, due 6th Feb. We had our first scan on Monday and it was amazing! This is our first baby, and seeing it up on the screen and moving was amazing! Feels a lot more real now, and we're very excited Grin

DragonFlew · 04/08/2018 15:16

@Jesscaar ah that sounds lovely. I can't wait for my scan!! Everyone seems to have had theirs already!

DragonFlew · 04/08/2018 15:18

@Jeanzbeanz I got some good tips about the first wee. Sit on the toilet the wrong way round If you have a tear, as this tilts your pelvis so the wee doesn't go on the stitches!
Other one was to do your first wee in the shower so the water dilutes your urine.

Its not that bad really, once you've been through labour anyway 😂

Jesscaar · 04/08/2018 15:19

@DragonFlew I think it's just us early-Febbers first! Yours will come around soon enough

Baby160P · 04/08/2018 15:25

@DragonFlew mines next Tuesday as due the end of Feb so you aren't alone!

Since2016 · 04/08/2018 15:27

Mines Monday! Freaking out!

The first poo 😩 - I had a section too!

Although it’s honestly not that bad first timers - the idea is worse than the reality I think!!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 04/08/2018 15:29

@DragonFlew @JeanzBeanz or take a water bottle (sports cap is easier) to pour over yourself as you wee..

I didn’t need stitches, but even a minor graze will sting!

DragonFlew · 04/08/2018 15:36

Haha. We've got months to worry about that anyway!

How's everyone's sickness now?
Apart from a blip yesterday I've been feeling pretty good. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow! Been occasionally feeling some stretching pains, mostly if I sneeze or cough! And the tiredness hasn't let up yet! I suppose that's something to get used to!

Jesscaar · 04/08/2018 15:51

I've been okay on the sickness front! Only feel a bit ropey if I have a late/small breakfast.
Had my fair share of feeling tired though. Around week 6-7 I was constantly exhausted, couldn't focus at work, in bed by 9 most nights! It's eased up now, but I still struggle to stay up much past 10 pm.
And the muscle strain as well, definitely feeling some stretching and tugging going on, especially when I stand up too quickly or sneeze!

jeanzbeanz · 04/08/2018 15:55

Well the good news is that I haven't been sick yet today !!! Have felt horrible and been doing some terrible burps though 😑

Still sleeping 12 hours a night!

Was thinking today about some of the weird symptoms I never expected - like my hairy belly, waxy ears and lotttts of burping.

FrowningFlamingo · 04/08/2018 16:51

Glad you haven't been sick today, jeanzbeanz - long may it continue!!
I also have a hairy belly Blush I'm not sure if I should wax it or take it on holiday and hope the hairs bleach in the sun...

Picklesandpies · 04/08/2018 17:26

Horray for that @jeanzbeanz. Hope it continues! Maybe meds are working? I wasn't sick yesterday or day before that. Still felt rather nauseous - not sure whether I would have been better off being sick for a bit of relief to be honest.

I've jus taken four children to the outdoor pool which was heaving. It was like where's Wally trying to keep an eye on them all. I did go in the pool but seemed to get stomach ache within twenty minutes and was worried about being kicked so got out and observed from the side (which turned out to be easier anyway!) Think it was trapped wind but ouch. Stomach was rock hard!

Decided mash and gravy is a pretty good combination at the moment - nice and filling but still quite bland. Roll on that roast dinner...

Lookingforadvice123 · 04/08/2018 18:34

I don't remember having issues with wee'ing at all, I had an episiotomy and stitches. I was so nervous about the first poo but it was absolutely fine, I would use a stool to put your feet high up and eat plenty of fibre beforehand.

First timers - some births can be very very easy. A friend's waters broke at 7:30am and her baby was born in a birthing pool by lunchtime, only a couple of stitches.

I on the other hand had a 48 hour back to back labour Confused I did it all with no pain relief other than a TENS machine and gas and air, but I warn you, nothing could've prepared me for the pain of the contractions, and I have a very high pain threshold. It's because DS was back to back though, B2B labours are notoriously more painful. Pushing hurts much less than the actual contractions!

fizzledays · 04/08/2018 19:22

@Since2016 mine is Monday too!! :)
