Hi ladies, how is everyone sleeping atm with a growing belly? I've been really restless the last week or so. Decided to order a maternity pillow. One from Asda. Has anyone got any experience of these pillows? Hoping this can be a bit of a sleep saviour. To think sleep will definitely get worse as I grown 😞

Teej51 · 24/08/2018 07:54

Hey.
I have one and sometimes its good. Sometimes its rubbish! Im tossing and turning all night...it sucks!
Pillow between my legs seems to make me sleep better...not sure if that helps but also sleep meditation can be really useful. Xx

Teej51 · 24/08/2018 08:08

@december2018

Hey.
My symptoms are not as severe as yours im that it doesn't go down my leg etc. But my right buttcheek is agony when i go from standing to sitting and vice versa - like you takes my breath away and instant tears that i have no control over. Im hoping it doesn't get worse as im not sure I'll be able to move properly in a few weeks unaided - I'm a teacher to 5 6 7 year olds...its gonna be a tough few months! Hope you are finding something that relieves the pain a little x x

kaytees · 24/08/2018 09:37

@Bellesboy1218 I used one in my first pregnancy and it was a godsend, decided to upgrade to a bbhugme one for this pregnancy and I don't regret it (except when my husband steals it) - yet to have any spd / back issues like I did first time round! As others have said, pillow between the legs / under bump seems to be the key.

December2018 · 24/08/2018 12:24

I love love love my pregnancy pillow!!
My brother got me mine off amazon for about £20
I find with my achey pains in my legs a hot water bottle at the base of my back really helps... I don't leave it on for too long tho I'm scared of my pumpkin getting too hot so I'll leave it on for 10 mins and take it off for a bit and keep reapplying if that makes sense
And also I bought some lavender bath salts that really help me to relax when I'm aching or my sciatica is kicking off.... I've never had so many baths 😂😂

December2018 · 24/08/2018 12:25

Ohhhh yesssss the bum cheek pain!!
It sort of feels like a pulled muscle for me like I've done 10 million squats at once 😂😂
.... I couldn't do 1 if I tried at the moment

Athers666 · 24/08/2018 12:34

Does anybody else wake up in the night with leg cramps? I get it every few days, it's so painful and then my leg stays sore for the rest of the day.

MagicalCreatures · 24/08/2018 12:38

Yes yes and yes.
I get such severe hip pain during the night. I’m waking up having to constantly switch from one side to the other. Atleast 8 times in the night. Even with my pregnancy pillow (which is a godsend) between my legs I’m still getting the pain. I’m finding now the most comfortable position for me is to lean back slightly so weight of baby is still off my back mostly and to put an extra pillow behind my back to hold me there. X

MagicalCreatures · 24/08/2018 12:39

And the pain is in my knees too x

We're at least getting well prepared for getting no sleep I guess!

Chalkybee · 24/08/2018 20:54

Hi everyone! A friend pointed me to mn to find a group of mamas due around the same time as she had done before. I hope you don't mind me joining?

This is my 3rd, the second boy. I'm due on the 27th (adjusted for long cycle, midwives are still insisting the 21st 🤷🏻‍♀️) both pregnancies were 15-16 days over so I'm hoping to hold out until new year and the Xmas decorations are down! 🙈

Anyway, hello! :)

Athers666 · 24/08/2018 21:09

Hey @chalkybee, congrats and welcome! 😁

December2018 · 24/08/2018 21:11

chalkybee hellooooo there! 😘

MagicalCreatures · 24/08/2018 21:52

@Chalkybee Hi Hun. I’m due the 28th and expecting a boy. Hoping to hold out to the new year too x

Hi ladies I hope you don’t mind me joining in the conversation. I’m expecting my first child December 3rd. We don’t know what we are having though. I’m almost 26 weeks and have a massive bump. I’m only 5ft 2 so think it’s that but midwife has referred me for a scan as she couldn’t measure bump properly and I’m suffering massively with heartburn. I’m getting a bit sick of people asking me if I’m having twins or whether my due date is wrong!Hmm went for a bra measurement yesterday and the lady at m&s asked me a ton of questions as to why my bump was so big. Really annoying.
Also I bought a maternity pillow from Jojo maman Bebe and have slept well since I liked it as it doubles up as a baby/breastfeeding pillow.

marthvader · 25/08/2018 12:08

@faykceb hello and welcome! Everybody here is very lovely!

I get where you are coming from with the bump comments. My bump has just popped out in the last week or so and the amount of 'oh wow you're huge' or 'is the baby measuring on the large side' or 'you're going to be absolutely massive by Christmas' comments I've had is ridiculous. Way to make someone feel confident and happy during one of the most emotional times of her life.

To top it off we were due to exchange on our flat sale yesterday and move to our new place next week and our buyer pulled out on Thursday and then refused to answer any calls so I've had a minor breakdown.

Hope everyone else is okay. Now that the weather has cooled a bit it's starting to feel very autumnal which means it's nearly Christmas which means babies!! So exciting!

balalalala · 25/08/2018 18:29

Oh no! That's so frustrating! Will you lose the new place? We've just taken ours off the market as it was just getting so much and the market just seems totally dead!

Bump is big here too but baby is measuring exactly the same as dd was at this point!

marthvader · 25/08/2018 19:28

@balalalala they've had to put the place we were going to buy back on the market too :( we've just got to hope we can resell ours quickly! Very stressful!

MagicalCreatures · 26/08/2018 08:15

Hello newbies.
How’s everyone this Sunday morning?
@marthvader so sorry to hear that about the house bits so frustrating. Was having this conversation the other day with a client. They should definitely put something in place to stop people being able to do this.

@Gemsie1984 how you feeling now about everything with your dad and grandad. Has it all calmed down. Are the children better? X x

Gemsie1984 · 26/08/2018 09:26

@MagicalCreatures - my children are all recovered now, thankfully. Was a pretty horrendous week and they both suffered, bless them. As far as things with my dad (and his partner, he's gay) I saw them yesterday as there was a family party. Things were strained but not as awful as I thought they were going to be. They spoke to me in a group setting but didn't initiate conversation 1:1 and if I was the only one in the room, they'd walk out. Was quite difficult but as I said, they were civil which is an improvement. I'm not holding my breath I'll hear from them again anytime soon. They commented on how well I looked (was 3 stone heavier last time I saw them).. I've made my peace with it all, tbh. Yes I would like them to be part of my life, but similarly I don't want negativity around Jack either so if they decide to continue the silent treatment, it really is their loss.

MagicalCreatures · 26/08/2018 09:43

@Gemsie1984 glad the kids are all better but how horrendous for them.
It must be very hard for you coz didn’t you have a good relationship with your dad before you fell pregnant with Jack. It really is their loss though. Your very strong coping with the way they’ve treated you aswell as all the other going ons in your life.
But as long as the party showed an improvement in their behaviour, I suppose that’s all you can hope for. X

@marthvader how stressful! I hope it all gets back on track soon!

MagicalCreatures · 27/08/2018 11:51
