hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ooh, looks like we'll be need a new thread soon. This one has lasted us quite a while!

Votes for new thread title? I'm sure there's some mileage in June rhyming with full moon but I'm just not funny enough to think of anything!

Or something like due any minute now - did we remember to pack our straighteners!

foxybrown · 01/06/2007 12:02

Am totally with you there LilKel on the pre-labour beautification. God knows we all feel like sacks of shite afterwards!!

I have painted my toes Rouge Noir, a lovely deep berry colour which not only matches my nursing nighty/pjs, but also the varicous veins on my left leg

yes Bumper, we cease to exist or be of any importance in our parents eyes. We do, however, find a new respect for our mothers and what they did for us.

But then I realised that mine was actually a bit crap at being a mum.

bumperlicious · 01/06/2007 12:10

Mine was a bit crap too - and sometimes admits it, but now has had lots of training and therapy (she's a child psychotherapist) and I think being a grandma will be her way of doing it better.

On the beautification thing, I have a pedicure and bikini wax booked for next week. My friend booked it for me and apparently the woman asked if I wanted a "Hollywood"?! I'm assuming this is a full on no-hair left situation! Don't really want be going into labour that exposed!

bumperlicious · 01/06/2007 12:11

Ok, going to have some lunch now. Must force myself to eat something proper before polishing of my ice cream!

foxybrown · 01/06/2007 12:13

LOL at going in with a Hollywood!

lilKelBel · 01/06/2007 12:14

Bumper - funny how 'brown' has ceased to exist eh? My mum has a bath in their ensuite which is dark brown. I said, ew, it's brown. She said, no, it's fudge. Big joke now between us...

Let me be honest about my experience of baby 2 so far - it's a real mixed bag. It's brilliant having a girl, she's the lovliest thing I've ever had the privelege to belong to, and it's awesome to be a 'family' of 4. However, the nights are soooo hard!! I'd forgotten how awful you feel without proper sleep!

I've an enormous amount of faith in routines though - learned that lesson the hard way with DS, who we thought would "naturally fall into a good routine." Pah ha ha. Funny, I know. So, I'm being militant about it this time. No messing 'round!! Hopefully it will pay off and the new darling will soon realise that nighttime is for sleeping and we eat every 3 hours - no exceptions!!

sputnik · 01/06/2007 12:27

Hope she sorts it out soon Lilkel. Have to say DD was pretty good at the night/day thing. Don't know if it was her character or the fact that I was an utter zombie at night capable of grunting and sticking her on the boob, just about. We also live in a very quiet place, which may have helped. On the other hand it was ages til she slept through. Wonder if no.2 will be different.

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 01/06/2007 12:52

Hey Lilkel...apart from the sleep deprivation, you sound like you're getting back to your normal self.

Not sure how I'm going to cope with it all after DH has to go back to work, but I have some really good friends around and the in-laws are only half an hour away. Of course I'll oinly have a couple of months to be pathetic about it as my SIL is having twins at the end of August....so nothing I can suffer will be as bad as what she will be going through.

Hi Sputnik....hope things are OK with you...have you stopped the medication yet? Can we expect your little space module at any time now?

I think I must have pulled a muscle at the front of my bump...it's blooming sore!

bumperlicious · 01/06/2007 13:19

Lilkel - did your mum choose a brown - sorry fudge bath...?

Daisy - I told you not to do all that cleaning today, now look what you've done. Get thyself to a sofa woman!

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 01/06/2007 13:20

DS is playing with my neighbours grandson....

DS...my mum is going to have a baby, I'm getting a little sister

E....oh yeah, I can see that she's pregnant..

DS...I know, her tummy and her bum are ginormous

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 01/06/2007 13:20

Sorry, bumper......I'm on a mission!

bumperlicious · 01/06/2007 13:27

Aww, kids say the cutest things !

bumperlicious · 01/06/2007 13:28

Right, need more ice cream...

lilKelBel · 01/06/2007 13:44

that's the spirit. eat some extra just for me, please! I think I've eaten more fruit today than I did the whole previous 9 months...grrr....

my mum did not choose the fudge bath, thank god. would have to wonder if we were related if she had... ! suspiciously though, she didn't try hard to get rid of it once she inherited it with the house

if i go insane from sleep dep and am unable to get online this weekend, have a good one! may your kiddies arrive soon!

trendaverter · 01/06/2007 13:47

I have just taken the dog for a 2 mile walk in an attempt to get labour started. Nope, still seems nice and comfy. FFS

bumperlicious · 01/06/2007 13:54

Actually we have an olive green suite in our rented flat, and I have grown to love it as it rarely looks dirty and it's nice and calming in the morning! Beats stumbling into the bath room to be faced with a shiny white bathroom!

annobal · 01/06/2007 14:07

LOL Bumper - we also have 'avocado' suites (and a corner bath to boot) in our rented place. From memory the place we've bought in oz has navy blue

Just had friends around and have quite happily passed the morning and lunch time drinking coffee. Boys now running around 'nudie' (there's even a song to go with the 'nudie' dance)

Good to hear from you Lilkel - sounds as though things are going really well (actually was purposely not remembering the sleepless nights and hormones part).

bumperlicious · 01/06/2007 14:19

Just put some muffins in the oven. Got the recipe from MamaG here (without the blood though!). Will let you know how they turn out.

annobal · 01/06/2007 14:27

Mmmn, can I have one please. May have to go and make them as it might actually put me in a good mood - don't know how many times I have shouted at the kids today

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 01/06/2007 14:28

This might sound really stoopid, but I've just realised that the pain from this "pulled muscle" is intermittent!
How intermittent I'm not sure, but last time was definately in conjunction with a BH....

...but I've been here before so not getting my hopes up in any way shape or form, especially as the pain is only on one side...if these were the real mccoy, surely it would be all over?

annobal · 01/06/2007 14:32

Very exciting Daisy! Looks like you won't be needing to dance naked in your garden tonight!

Bugger, just shouted at DS again

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 01/06/2007 14:41

OKAY - SICK A FORK IN ME ........ I'M DONE!

Its June - I'm over 37 weeks - I'm ready!!!

Hope everyone is doin alright?
I want to meet my baby now - and I don't do waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 01/06/2007 14:46

Should have said STICK a fork in me

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 01/06/2007 14:46

LOL DKMA....not wanting to dishearten you, but it could be another 4 or 5 weeks yet!!!

I'm off to have an ice-cream...my neighbour has DS so I can sit with my feet up, but surely if things are happening I need to keep active?

I've called DH to make sure he'll be on his way soon, but he's got to go and see his boss before he leaves and his boss has gone walkabout......blardy typical

BrownSuga · 01/06/2007 14:57

hiall, (aka kiwinat here)
who's popped so far? first day of the month.

waters went last night (due 8 june), but no contractions. checked at hospital this morning if nothing happens tonight, we'll be in tomorrow morning for an induction, so by sunday we should have a wee sugacube. mil has gone away for the weekend, she just knew that'd set it off. ah well, my mum in nz has to wait 6 weeks or so before she meets him so a few days won't kill her.
