Very glad we have heard from Lwatkins and she and dd are doing well! Just Tam to hear from now? MKG too? She has not been on today so must be baby popping somewhere surely.

Im feeling a bit better now, the fog has started to clear in my head, am still dripping like a drippy tap. Hope it has gone tomorrow, dont fancy labour with a drippy nose. Am all nervous, never been induced before. My waters usually break during labour so i have no idea what my body will do if they break them first. Hopefully labour in 2 hours and home for tea? Will be posting by the evening

Sumsey how bizzare we share a due date and now a birth date 12 days later! Good luck for tomorrow

Scoot i have nearly murdered my mother several times today, i went to bed this afternoon and she came over!!! After 2 phone calls this morning, she cleared her work diary for this evening too. Claiming i would go in to labour for sure She is a white witch though and is often right although no signs yet.

So this is goodbye and i hope very much to be posting on the postnatal side by the time i come back! Thank you very much for all the lovely well wishers today, it is nice to know you are all thinking of me. I have no idea what i would have done without you all over the last 9 months.

TYG and MrsJB will get a text from DH tom with any news. Gory details will be posted by tea time

twelveyeargap · 24/05/2007 22:31

scootermum · 25/05/2007 08:01

Morning all,

Just had a text from TAM!Her baby is here safe and sound!Again am going to leave it to her to do the announcement as dont want to steal anyones moment..but Mother and Baby both doing well!
What a relief!Another May bundle is here..

Glad to hear you are feeling better Mrs JB...It can be so hard the first few days with a new born I think..(Scoot speaks from great experience having only ever had one to deal with )But promise you will talk to us if any relapse?Promise now, y'hear? You can get me on my other address as well if you [email protected] does your friend arrive? My bf was supposed to be coming this afternoon but she has a huge absess on her tooth and looks like the elephant man..her words but she really does, she sent me a picture, its unbelievable!

Who is left now then, Jonah, Intheseshoes, TYG,Lilkel-whose section is tomorrow I think... me, who else?

Thinking of those in action today..cant wait till the DH's come on with news..I love it when the husbands come on!

When is your DH off TYG? This morning? Ring if you need anything..im only up the road and my DH is only round the corner in Mac towers...and he's a dab hand at fetching towels and boiling water should the need arise. Also he could do home delivery of assorted junk food should you need sustenance!

twelveyeargap · 25/05/2007 08:08

Fingers crossed for you too Sumsey.

Well DH is gone to the airport and if getting him out the door this morning wasn't enough to send me into labour then it looks like this baby is staying for good. Nightmare. He's so stressed that he was running around like a headless chicken getting nothing done, despite the fact I'd folded shirts, laid everything out for him ready to pack, etc. He's not even going to be gone for 24 hours. Jaysus.

Got to get ready myself now. I have a 41 week appt with a consultant at the hospital later this morning.

Oh, I've just noticed that MN have changed the way you do links to make it easier...

OP posts:
twelveyeargap · 25/05/2007 08:17

@ hot towels and junk food delivery.

Yes, DH gone. He's triple stressed because (a) I could be giving birth any time (b) he's got this important something-or-other he's organising at work and really needs to be working on it today and (c) he's going to the States for an interview (job here and he's done two interviews alrady, but some chap in the US wants to meet him), so is pretending to be going to the hospital with me, yet is completely unavailable if his office call, becuase he'll be on a plane. He never does that; he's never out of reach.

To add to the faff, I realised last night that he can't turn on his phone or Blackberry in the US as they're billed to his office and they'd know he wasn't where he said he was, so he's gone off with DD's phone.

It's been hectic in our house, to say the least.

Three grins Mars!!

Good luck lg&t and Sumsey.

Congrats to LWatkins and Tam. Looking forward to details.

Pinkjenny · 25/05/2007 09:07

Come on you lot! Its a bit lonely on Postnatal.

Good luck to LG & T and Sumsey today, although I will have missed them both probably, am looking forward to hearing their news.

Alexa is doing well considering she has me as her mother She was awake between 3am and 5am this morning, which was interesting to say the least. DH tried a new technique of picking her up, settling her, and then putting her straight back down. I'm not sure a one week old understands the principle but she went to sleep in the end!

It has been suggested to me that when she sleeps longer than 3 hours, and wakes up starving, she gulps her bottle down too fast, which may be unsettling her. Does anyone advocate waking babies up for feeds? Or does this just upset them even more!

Minipop · 25/05/2007 09:12

Scootermum - I am also still waiting...

I was pretty sure of my dates and when I found out I was pregnant I worked out my due date as the 2nd June. At my booking in sca they said the 26th May , but for once I don't want to be right

Feel 'niggly' today, but nothing too out of the ordinary yet. The insomnia is really distressing and seems to get worse the closer to my due date I get.
I am sure that is not unusual?

twelveyeargap · 25/05/2007 09:43

MARS! Spill!

Pinkjenny - one of the books I have recommend waking babies to feed them. Granted, they recommend you don't let newborns go longer than 4 hours, but as Alexa is so tiny, you could try waking her after say, 2hrs 45 and see how you go, or 2hrs 30. If that doesn't work, then I would suspect it's something else. Most newborns can go three hours between feeds I think.

Have you tried using a slower flow teat so she can't gulp too fast?

Tried swaddling to settle her?

Morning lovely ladies.

Woohoo congratulatons to all our fab new mummy's.

Sadly even doing battle with the motorways yesterday failed to make the LO move an inch in the direction needed.

Am knackered today didnt get home until after midnight last night as my ma and pa had a dog emergency and he had to be rushed to the vets last night. So we had a tense few hours waiting to hear if he was ok, still not sure if he is going to be ok. What is it about pets that gets everyone in a tis?

LG&T and Sumsey I know I have missed you already but lots of luck for today just think by tea-time you will have your little bundles.

madeindevon2 · 25/05/2007 10:22

great news for sumsey and lgandt that they will be meeting their babies soon.
feeling a bit fed up today. im 40 + 2 still no signs at all. had 2 glasses of pink fizz last night with a bbq and bit of action with dh. that obviously didnt do anything to shift the baby. and now you switch on the news and one of the headlines is docs advising preg woman not to drink any alcohol at all. feeling irationally guilty now....sure its far too late to do any damage...but still feel shitty.
trying to keep myself upbeat. so glad its weekend soon and my weekend with dh at that.
he just called and told me hes given open invitiation to a friend/client of his (and his 4 mth pregnant wife) to come visit anytime this weekend. great. like i really want visitors!

juliewoolie · 25/05/2007 10:35

I know what you mean about the alcohol thing made me quite upset this mortning as DP and I were all over the place when we got preggers and didnt know what we were going to do as we were both living in different countries at the time and I defo had a few nights when I was drinking when I shouldnt have so not only have I been feeling really guilty about that for nine months I know have the beeb telling me that my child is going to have severe mental defects, FFS

Minipop · 25/05/2007 10:50

I also saw that on BBC Breakfast. IMHO the 'no alcohol at all' in pregnancy is just ridiculous. Women have managed to continue the human race for thousands of years without all these 'rules'. Whilst I would never advocate getting hammered whilst pregnant, the odd glass of wine with dinner and on special occasions is surely not going to have too much of an impact. They admitted that there is no additional evidence to back this up - it's just to 'cover their arses' as everyone has different opinions as to what is a 'safe limit'. I DESPAIR of the way pregnant women are patronised like this. It's as if we can't be trusted to take care of ourselves and our babies. This may be the case in a few cases, but the majority of women wouldn't do anything that could jeopardise their child's well being.

They are going to try to recommend the same thing in France - somehow I can't see French women give up their glass of wine, along with their rare juicy steak and soft cheese at dinner!

madeindevon2 · 25/05/2007 10:52

the thing is....when you listen to the report there is no real evidence that light to moderate drinking does any harm at all. but they think woman are too thick to calculate 1-2 units worth.... (granted there may be a small percentage who stuggle and they are probably the most at risk) but it scares a lot of woman needlessly.

juliewoolie · 25/05/2007 11:03

I was speaking to my sis about it and she is a midwife who works in some really awful areas and she said to me that we shouldnt beat ourselves up about it many women drink to excess throughout their pregnancy and she has lots of clients who are on crack all the way through and although obviously that is not the best way to behave in pregnancy a few glasses of wine etc are not something to worry about and to just try and chill about all this supposed advice given to pregnant women.

madeindevon2 · 25/05/2007 11:21

yeah i think you right julie. breath...and chill......
right. time to get of my lazy arse and try do something with the day!

madeindevon2 · 25/05/2007 12:12

well that didnt last long. i had shower got dressed. gave bathroom once over. tidyed kitchen and put dishwasher on. and have put a load of washing on.
now all i wanna do is sit down again

scootermum · 25/05/2007 12:25

Well I had a pint of Kronenbourg and lime last night..and it was the best nights sleep Ive had in ages..so I think its done more good than harm, sucks to the BBC!

Insomnia is a total nightmare..no pun intended..by the time I am in labour I will just want a nap!

Tam is going to be in hosp till Sunday BTW..So she probably wont be on for a bit, save us all worrying..

C'mom Mars..who else do you know about?!

DD and I have had a lovely long sleep this morn-she is now raring to go-I could quite easily go back to bed..

Mae is officially late now..however have had quite bad back pain this morn-and have taken two paracetomol..Im trying to convince baby that she might as well come out now..before my stretch marks get any more hideous...face isnt swollen enough yet though I dont think, for it to happen today..

Lol at the subterfuge TYG...I hope he gets the job after all that palaver!

juliewoolie · 25/05/2007 12:50

Scoot lets hope that means its the begining of something, I have given up hope of ever getting this one out. Had the busiest week and have just spent the last 2 hours cleaning the flat how can 2 people in a 2 bedroom flat make so much mess. Still nothing just a few braxton hicks.

Gingerbear · 25/05/2007 13:15

Gingerbear · 25/05/2007 13:15

oh, by the way, mars knew my news, but wouldn't spoil it before I posted the announcement!

MarsLady · 25/05/2007 13:22

GB text this morning. She's gone in. Had a quick call from RedKennedy's OH and she went in yesterday. So lots of ladies to be thinking of today. Maybe all the babes will share a birthdate

I won't post anyone's news. I'll let them do it, but I will grin when my work is done.

Now apart from that the only thing I have to say is: remind me (once all the news is shared) to tell you about bedsharing and spending the night. Also, dancing.... so much dancing lol!
