where is everyone?
its very lonely on here today!

cameroonmama · 24/05/2007 15:13

Gosh, its very quiet here isn't it? Are there lots of lovely babies springing up? Some of the June babies have started to appear as well

Scoot, I thought this might make you chuckle, my mum has just left after 3 weeks here, dh is taking her to the airport as we speak, and I wanted to weep whilst saying goodbye Not like me at all, I blame it on the lack of sleep

scootermum · 24/05/2007 15:30

Oh no cant totally relate to that-My Mum was great when DD was born..she really was..its just she is can be sooooo annoying with it..I cant live with her and I cant live without her!
I have just been to Tesco and bought the worlds largest amount of junk food ever..also a bag of salad and some salmon to counter it..so the baby cant come till its all gone as dont think it will fit in with the slimming world ethos..that said baby feels so low that I can hardly walk and I just feel..odd...so you never know..

No reply from either of the labour ladies yet-am starting to worry a bit...and its like a ghost town on here today.... must surely be some labourin' a happenin somewhere!

Golly its hot..am going to eat some ice cream and read my Grazia in the shade..

twelveyeargap · 24/05/2007 16:32

Afternoon. I've been asleep! I don't know what's come over me today. Dozed for about half an hour in the garden around 11.30 this morning. Luckily had set my alarm to remind me to pick up DH's trousers from dry cleaners at 12 as they close early today and were doing a rush job for me for his US meeting.

Came home, had something to eat, read some of my book, felt tired and lay on the couch and then thought I might as well lie on the bed. Dozed off around 1.30 I think and now it's er, 4.30! Not like me at all. Must have needed it.

How were the viewings Scoot? Can sympathise. I feckin' hate viewings. How is DD today?

I'm not labouring - I've been to IKEA as part of the eternal quest to go to places where it would be immensely mortifying to go into labour - yesterday, hairdressers, today IKEA. Needless to say, not much doing, although my back is still very achy. Anklewatch: at elderly Great Aunt proportions.

I did have a nice lunch in IKEA too. And I bought a mobile for over the changing table and a wooden lighthouse stacker toy for LO. And a lovely froggy bib/bowl/cup/spoon set. See how I am taking care of you sweetheart, I want to see you!!!!!

I cannot even read the June thread, I will be too for words!

The only consolation is that hopefully by this time next week it will all be over - either spontaneously or by C-section.

mantra I will have a May baby, I will have a May baby... (repeat ad infinitum)

Minipop · 24/05/2007 17:29

Hi all
Good luck to all those lucky ladies having babies today!

I have now decided that I WILL BE PREGNANT FOREVER(this is blatantly ridiculous as my EDD is Sat, so I am not even overdue).I am so bored with waiting and have become tearful and snappy over the slightest thing. DP has been incredibly patient with me (most unlike him!), so even he must feel sorry for me at the moment. The only signs I have that something may be imminent are backache/period style pains that tend to make an appearance at night, so I am totally knackered, and cervical pain. Keep doing exercises to try and turn baby from OP, but no luck so far and on top of that have a lovely selection of hormonal spots on my chin-lovely!

OK rant over...and breathe 'adopts yoga position'.

Question - anyone on this thread had/having baby at Queen Charlotte's? Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the level of midwife care.

scootermum · 24/05/2007 18:04

Viewings went ok-one person quite keen allegedly and has said they will call for a second viewing but as yet they havent

DD is coughing and spluttering bless her and her chest very rattley..poor girl, not nice when its so hot...will give her some Medised tonight and hope for the best as think we all need some sleep!
Quite at your sleep TYG!

Im thinking IKEA tomorrow Intheseshoes assuming no baby..DD's bed has been put up and I need a mattress for it-DH forgot to order one..Plus fancy some meatballs..
Not much to report here except back ache and the fact that I feel like ive a bowling ball between my legs..and Im very hot and tetchy..and also quite tearful..DH thinks im going mental...He may be right..

lulumama · 24/05/2007 18:54

scootermum · 24/05/2007 19:24

Ha!She never does anything else Lula! Just kidding largegandt..actually there has been a notable lack of porn on this thread of late...

Is it normal to feel very emotional at this point?I never had it with DD at all..feel like I cant trust myself at the moment as am either quite content or weepy, and its not the same from one half hour to the next...its getting on my nerves TBH..not to mention DH's im sure..

scootermum · 24/05/2007 19:24

Evening Mrs JB-How're you doing?

JonahB · 24/05/2007 19:30

Scoot ?lots of sympathy about calls from your mum. My mum did that to me for every one of the 10 days I was overdue with DS. It drove me nuts. In the end, I just stopped answering the call. My friend still thinks it?s hilarious and calls me to ask if there?s ?any news?. Somehow it?s funny when mates are taking the p*ss, but not in the slightest bit amusing when it?s a relative. Hope you get a better night?s sleep tonight.

LG&T ? best of luck for tomorrow

I?ve been a lady who lunches today. DH looked after DS and I went for a lovely 2 hr lunch with some girlfriends (intheseshoes ? to our fav Italian). I?m such a bad mum-to-be. I had a Fiorentina and the waitress asked if I wanted my egg hard-boiled. I looked at her as politely as I could and responded that I really didn?t care ? anything to get the baby out is fine by me. Don?t think she approved ? my egg was incarcerated .

You ladies braving Ikea at 40 weeks ? I am mightily impressed. I can hardly bear it not pregnant. I braved it a couple of months ago and made my vow not to go again soon! Unfortunately it is so cheap for kiddie furniture that it's a necessity.

Due date tomorrow. I?ll soon be officially ?late?

aprilmeadow · 24/05/2007 19:38

Just a quick one....

GOOD LUCK for tomorrow LG&T. Cant wait to hear your news x

InTheseShoes · 24/05/2007 20:10

LOL Jonah at the hard boiled egg - tonight I have had tuna steak AND red wine! I laugh in the face of dietary requirements, bring on the prawns and the gin!!!! IKEA was surprisingly empty and really not too much trouble at all, certainly worth it for the multi-purpose uses of the Dime bar...

Good luck LG&T for tomorrow! Where oh where are the other ladies who we think are in labour? Who will be the last one left? (Clue:me)

Sumsey · 24/05/2007 20:37

hello all..well its official!!

i shall be meeting my bubba number two tomorrow!! spent all afternoon at the hospital and its been confirmed that i will be having a c.s.

to be honest i am quite scared but know it wont be as bad as the emergency c.s i had with first. cannot wait for tomorrow.

has anyone heard about Tam or Pebble yet?

cameroonmama · 24/05/2007 20:42

Just a quickie to say, GOOD LUCK LG&T for tomorrow and looking forward to hearing your good news. xxx

InTheseShoes · 24/05/2007 20:46

Good luck Sumsey too! Ooooh, it's a real week for it!

JonahB · 24/05/2007 21:39

Sumsey - best of luck for tomorrow!!!

Intheseshoes - you've got my curiousity aroused now. What are the multi-purpose uses of a Dime bar? I'm intrigued!!!!

InTheseShoes · 24/05/2007 21:46

Gosh, I must have sounded a bit rude! What I meant was all the different Dime bar permutations you can buy - Dime bar cakes, Dime bar biscuits, full sized Dime bars, bags of mini Dime bars, little bags of Dime bar "rocks", big blocks of chocolate with Dime bar pieces (can you tell what I bought today???)

In fact, if I went into labour I would be writing a paper called "Oxytocin vs. Dime Bar - the contract-inducing properties of the Scandinavian chocolate bar" by Dr I.T. Shoes.

scootermum · 24/05/2007 21:54

Have just got a text from LWATKINS!Mother and baby doing well and should be home tomorrow..told her I would leave it to her to post all the details-didnt want to rain on her parade in case she was looking forward to doing it herself! So another May baby is here safe and well!

Good Luck largegandt and Sumsey for tomorrow!!Cant wait to hear the news!!

No word from Tam or MKG..Heres hoping we hear something tomorrow..

Have finally lost the plot with my Mother and got a bit snippy with her on the phone, (3rd call today!)Now feel very guilty..sigh..although im not looking forward to the prospect of giving birth AT ALL, it will almost be worth it to stop all that nonsense!I wouldnt mind but its surely common knowledge that its incredibly annoying to call a heavily pg woman every 10 mins to see if 'anythings happening?'..o dear, I know she is only concerned and I am being a bitch..

When is your due date Intheseshoes?10-1 you beat all the rest of us to it!

DH has gone to play golf..he must think im a total schmuck-its going dark now and he only went an hour and a half ago..the lord help him if he is sinking pints in the club house as I type!

Night all-hoping for some babies in the morn..

JonahB · 24/05/2007 21:55

Lol at being rude! No, I hadn?t thought that, I thought you were about to tell me lots of recipes which involved melting/slicing/combining dime bars with other sugary, sorry, essential food groups. Not being a dime bar connoisseur myself, I was unaware of all the different formats. I think that i?ll look explore this area in more detail ? one likes to improve their wider knowledge and expand one?s horizons at all stages of life?..

scootermum · 24/05/2007 21:56

Yup, sure it is Intheseshoes....

Ive never had a Dime bar y'know..whats it taste like..I imagine it to be quite tough to chew for some reason?

JonahB · 24/05/2007 21:57

Scooter - cross-posts, congratulations to Lwatkins!!!!!!

InTheseShoes · 24/05/2007 22:14

Scooter - I demand that you immediately go our and purchase a Dime bar and consume with delight! They are lovely soft chocolate on the outside - on a sort of gradient in terms of depth, much thicker in the middle than the edges - surrounding a sort of buttery/almondy toffee that is brittle rather than chewy - they are yum tastic, and in terms of their calorific value, compare well to, say, a similar sized bar of Dairy Milk. Honest, you'll love it!

Jonah, sorry it must be my hormonal pregnant mind imaging pervy behaviour with Dime bars! The only recipe I know that involves a Dime bar is crushing one into vodka, an experiment I tried after a visit to Revolution on Oxford Road... The Dime bar cake is yummy, I had a slice after lunch and have another one nestling gently in the fridge.

Congratulations Lwatkins! Yay for the newest May bundle!!!!!

(scooter, ITS and Jonah skulk around [wo]manfully pretending they don't care that everyone will have given birth by this weekend except for them (and if scoot and Jonah go as well, then I am going to reallllly throw a tantrum.
